It pains me to write this review because I have been going here for years. I got a gel manicure last Friday. The front desk girls were nice. The initial first half of my appointment was fine. Things shifted towards the second half of my appointment. I accidentally dipped my hands back in water after my nails were filed and buffed. The tech I was working with (Lily) seemed visibly annoyed with me. I felt very awkward for the rest of my appointment. After that happened, she was weirdly pushy and abrupt with my hands while curing the gel nails under the LED light. That wasn't even the worst part. During the gel application, I saw this girl wipe her cleanup brush with extra alcohol directly onto the granite countertop, then use the same brush directly on my skin to clean the excess gel on my hands. I have always seen techs here use a paper towel (or another white towel) for this. I was so grossed out. To top off this experience, the hot towel and hand massage at the end of my appointment was super rushed and not thorough at all. So disappointing. I hope this was a fluke, but sad to say I will probably be going elsewhere. read more

So for the vibe and the service I would consider it overpriced. Ended the service with the front desk asking me when I was due... I'm not pregnant. Service was really good, the lady who did my manicure kept checking in with the gel light pink color I chose and even asked me if I wanted a third coat. We did a third coat but it was very nice they asked me and did the same for my toenails as well. The pricing is decent and I could tell they were really thorough. First time here and it was a great experience. This place is huge! It was clean and well kept and felt like an upscale salon without the prices of one. I had hiked for 4 days straight so I wanted to heal my feet with a pedicure. I got a hot stone pedi for $58+tip. I thought that was a steal in this area especially. The pedicurist treated my feet and legs to exfoliation, mud mask, gel, and a hot stone massage rub. Then the coloring came at the end. My feet were singing to me in the end instead of screaming after all my hikes. I felt so revitalized!! There is a 5% cash discount if you pay for cash (my $58 pedi turned into $55). Had a gel manicure done by Ivy in July 2025. I've never in my life had a manicure service done so well before. Ivy's professionalism and artistry has created a new standard for me in regard to getting my nails done. She checked in with me at literally every step of the way, was patient in making sure I liked my nails, and overall, took great care of my nails and nail bed. My nails never looked better, and I was so sad to have to remove them last night due to my natural nail growth. I wish I was a local as I would definitely book with Ivy again. My only criticism about my experience has to do with the booking process. I saw on Yelp and Google reviews that a lot of customers felt duped into paying for extra services at checkout. Determined to avoid any surprises, I made sure to add "nail art design" under the "extras" tab when I booked online. Originally, I wanted baby boomer nails, which are basically just ombre nails, but there were only niche extras to select from, such as cat eye or unicorn nails. "Nail art design" seemed to be the most fitting, so I booked the max - $25 for 25 mins of nail art services. When I checked in that day, the staff member told me it would be an extra $50 for what I wanted. So, it would've been $45 gel manicure + $50 for ombré + $25 for nail art = $120. I was shocked, but I appreciated the employee telling me in advance. I opted to do just the $45 gel manicure, and ended up still really happy with my service. I think Ascend could benefit from reorganizing their online booking menu, and for patrons, I would contact the salon to inquire prices for certain services in order to avoid sticker shock. read more

Being new to Seattle, one of my first missions was to find a nail salon. I chose 3 that I wanted to try before deciding where to become a regular. Ascend was the third that I tried and it's likely to become my regular spot. I got to the area a bit early so that I could explore a bit. There are some cafes around so I was able to enjoy a relaxing breakfast to myself before I got my nails done. I really enjoyed Ascend Nail Lounge. There's a ton of space, it's welcoming and comfortable, and it all seems to be kept incredibly clean. The staff were kind and helpful. They also have a decent selection of colors. I really loved Ivy. She did a wonderful job fixing my nails. And I mean... these nails were torn up! I did the most with my hands over the holidays so my nails were either broken or haphazardly cut to remove the broken nails. Ivy cut and shaped them perfectly without it being painful, even though she had to work very close to my skin. I highly recommend Ascend and Ivy. read more

Started coming here for monthly pedicures after moving into the area. I called and made a same day appointment for late afternoon. I was welcomed and chose my color, then was taken to the seat shortly after. The salon is clean and they have the cleaning station viewable to everyone in the building, which I appreciate. I've always asked for an upgraded pedicure option but have been told they only do their "signature" and don't do any upgrades. My nails were also shaped crooked which I noticed after I left. I tend to get ingrown nails on my big toe, and the techs here have never fully gotten that piece out like other places do. I'm visiting from Chicago and spent a lot of time reading Yelp reviews by disgruntled people in Seattle who burst into tears because something is wrong (read: color mismatch, chipping a week later) with their manicure. Luckily, my mom and I found Ascend in a part of Queen Anne I hadn't been to in previous visits. This was a great experience for us, we made reservations online and took bus 3 back downtown. She has some mobility issues and I feel truly blessed each time she can navigate somewhere easily. We had ample time to get our $25 manicures, $1 cash discount from $26. We tipped $10 because it was special to get our nails done together while sitting next to each other and enjoying trading stories between them and my mom about how they raised kids. While my nails looked good when I left and the person at the counter was really nice when I arrived and left, the treatment itself was really strange. I've never really had a spa experience where the technician seemed utterly annoyed to be there. I scheduled the appointment, so it wasn't like I was walking in right at closing time. Each stage of the pedicure included treatments and technique that was supposed to make for a relaxing experience. But the technician kind of slapped creams on my feet and just generally put in minimum critical effort to check the box to say that she had done what was required. I get that we all have bad days, but when you're paying over $100 for a pedicure, the last thing you want to do is feel like you have inconvenienced someone when you walk out the door. If all you care about is the end product, and don't really need any of the spa experience, then this place is fine. But there are other places out there that will do that for 40 bucks. read more

I NEVER leave reviews and up until now I have not had any issues with this salon. I came in late (return customer) but still within the grace period and while checking in/talking to the woman at the front desk she proceeds to tell that they can not complete my service because I was past the grace period. This was literally while I was talking to her and checking in. She decided to tell me after we discussed what I was getting done within the grace period. Nice big open spaces. The staff is all wearing masks. I think the prices were reasonable. At least they're on par with what I would pay at home in Houston. Not overly friendly, and didn't offer me a beverage -- but I think I overheard them tell a regular patron and they weren't serving wine or soft drinks because of Covid. I came in with a reference photo requesting neutral light pink nails anticipating an upcoming proposal however, I was given nails that looked nothing like that and when I asked for and were nude and iridescent. When I mentioned to the front employees that my nails did not at all match the photo I showed them and asked for they immediately started gaslighting me and saying that the reference photo was probably dip and I'd asked for gel ... there's no reason I couldn't have been given similar gel to what was in the photo, or they could have told me when I gave the reference photo that they weren't able to give what was asked. Neither happened and I was left with hideous nails and hostile responses. I had no issue paying but was turned off by the response from the employees and lack of care that they'd given me nothing close to what I asked for a week before my engagement .... My first visit to this place set me off on the wrong foot. I had come in with dipped natural medium-sized nails; I wanted them taken off and enjoyed a good manicure service. The removal and application were great, but I noticed my nails were paper thin when I left; it was to the point where I was uncomfortable getting my nails wet because they were bending in half; one of my nails snapped in half, and I attached a picture below. I had called to ask them to fix the broken nail which occurred 2 days after my appointment, the nail lady seemed upset that I was asking them to fix the nail THAT THEY DID! They 'fixed' my nails by just putting nail glue on top and applying a coat of top coat to all of them. It's been only 2 days since the top is peeling in sections, and my nail has snapped in half close to my nail bed again. For a nail place that claims they know how to be professional I would have to disagree, Emily the nail tech and the front desk lady should have known better to treat their customers with kindness and make sure the service is worth the money we pay. I am disappointed because now, after 2 weeks and after spending 70 dollars, I have to get my nails redone before they all break. read more

Writing a review while I'm still here. Came here because I am visiting Seattle and read good reviews about this place. I was here for a pedicure with a friend. Ivy was the person servicing me. She was extremely rude to the point where it was disrespectful. I asked nicely if she could make my toes as even as possible even tho I chipped the right corner. Every time I spoke up she would ignore me and talk to other employee in Vietnamese dismissing me. Same bad attitude when I asked if she could get rid of the callous on my feet. Then she did the same thing when my French tip was uneven and didn't look at me or even bother to say anything and had someone else finish up the job she couldn't get done herself. The manager did a 30% refund for the bad experience but honestly this type of customer service is just completely unacceptable. A day of excitement just turned into a nightmare at the nail salon.
