This place did such a great job with my nails! I called the day before & she was able to take me in the following day and if I had been available, that very same day. COVID-19 precautions were noted and appreciated too. Temperature was taken right off the bat. Compliments on my cuticles being well taken care of too... and no blood! I appreciate when nail salons take the time to do so especially 'cause mine are chronically overgrown and dry. I was instantly comfortable with the nail tech and felt like she knew what she was doing. The massage was direly needed too, it's rare now to get a technician but that always adds a little more to the experience. For shellac with design it was $48- she also had to remove my SNS manicure. I came to MC Nails yesterday after hearing great things about it. And guess what, THEY WERE COMPLETELY RIGHT! The two owners of the salon are incredibly kind and incredibly meticulous. This is not a speedy, 20-minute, in-and-out type place. Expect to spend over two hours here for a quality mani and pedi. In my case, I chose a regular pedicure and an acrylic manicure. I paid $55 (not including tip) which is completely reasonable for the quality of the services offered. Like other reviewers have noted, they do tell you to wait for 15 minutes upon walking in without an appointment. My wait was probably about 25 minutes total, but I didn't mind since there is a variety of cafes and restaurants nearby (try Queen Bee café right across the street for delicious crumpets.) When you go to soak your feet in the tub, they hand you a wheel of colors to choose from. I thought this was way more helpful than just selecting a bottle of polish because it lets you get a realistic idea of what the color will look like out of the bottle. I settled on a deep grey-blue for my nails and an orangey-red for my toes. The massage chairs are perfect. You can choose how fast you want your massage to be and what areas you want to target. However, you may have to turn it off like I did when the manicurist told me it was harder for her to do my toes when the massage chair was going. Not a big deal. I actually appreciated that she said that because it just showed how they prioritize attention to detail. At the end of my session, the woman put my running shoes in a plastic bag and gave me the disposable flip-flops. Very convenient and thoughtful. Also, did I mention this place is as clean as a whistle? Not a piece of dust anywhere. Overall, I would highly recommend MC Nails and I will definitely be back. read more

Thankful again for "Yelp", I found another nail and waxing shop. This shop has been open for about 7 months and still looks new. It reminds me of a "shotgun" house because its narrow and long. Inside one wall serves as the nail stations facing a wall of mirrors. Pedicure: Variety of pedicure options beginning with that includes a cuticle maintenance, shaping, clipping, massage and stone massage for $25. The next level up includes a scrub, which is my favourite. I liked the options of being handed 3 rings of several nails showing the variety of colours and this option works well for the small space. On the other hand, sometimes the colours do not match up when trying them on such as in my case. Waxing: My technician did a 4-star eyebrow wax! Its hard to find a good technician that is attentive to detail and shaping. I also enjoyed the waxing chair vs table because its easier to get into especially for us short peeps! However, the con to the waxing experience, is there is no designated room! There is a shower curtain that is drawn around the waxing chair, but for me that does not allow enough privacy. Eyebrow waxing is okay but I would not go for any other waxing treatments for that reason only. Customer Service: 4-Star for the customer service. Very helpful and friendly. This visit, there is a man and woman team which at times seemed not enough staff and other times seemed just right. Overall, good experience with plus to the woman who does great eyebrowing shaping and waxing and great customer service. So at first I was skeptical about coming due to the past reviews about this nail salon. I've been wanting to get my nails done a Thursday morning before work but my timing was always off. Little did I know I would receive a gift certificate to this nail salon from my work place which made my decisions clear that I was going to try this place out. The location is great if you live off of Madison St and are looking for a nail salon close by. Their store is located next to a dentist, a good Vietnamese restaurant: Tigerly Ox and a Safeway. They have about 4 pedicure seats and 4 manicure seats. Very cute inside. They had jazz playing in the background which made the vibe nice and chill. I had called ahead to ask about prices and make an appointment for a shellac manicure. When arriving the salon, I had seen one man doing a manicure and he did not greet me until I had started to look at the prices on the wall. After looking for a minute a woman came up and asked if I had an appointment. I told her yes but I forgot to mention I wanted a pedicure as well. She was kind enough to fit me in for a simple pedicure with a clear coat finish. The pedicure was great and had a unexpected hot stone massage. The hot stone massage was great until she started to chat with the man for a second and left the stone on top on my foot for a minute which burned me. After the pedicure was over we started on my hands. I chose a color from her wheel sample of shellac colors but ended up choosing the classic French tip shellac. She started to file my nails down and shape them and next step was to start painting. She started to paint two or three fingers when had the man switch off to finish the job. It was weird to me but she started to set up for her next client. Unfortunately I get a little antsy when my hand is in the drying box and I tap my fingers repeatedly, which kept triggering the box to restart the "heating/drying" process when it's inside. While doing that the man got annoyed and took the box away every time he noticed it restarted. Overall, I was satisfied with the quality of my manicure and pedicure. I definitely recommend that you try out MC Nails if you are in the area and are looking for a good nail salon. Their prices aren't bad either. Just make sure you call ahead and make an appointment because there's only the man and woman (probably husband and wife). Although they did accept a walk in while I was there because the man was just finishing up with my manicure. read more

Patty, the new owner, is changing the name to Beauty Nails. She's been doing my nails for about 2 years now and does an excellent job. She takes her time and it shows in the end results. I get SNS dip manicures, and the entire process usually takes around an hour and a half for removal and reapplication. Getting my nails done consistently has allowed my nails to grow longer than they ever have before. So many color options for regular polish, shellac, and dip. The salon is fairly no-frills but is kept clean (and they use plastic liners for their pedi tubs). I do think they could work on expectation setting for wait times; I've been there before when customers walk in and have to wait ages to be seen, and really, they should be given a heads up on how long they may just be sitting there with their feet soaking. Sometimes appointments aren't kept on time either, but I've never had to wait too long. Patty is also amazingly understanding about fixing my chips on the few occasions I've broken a single nail and just need a quick fix. In terms of cost, dip removal and color change is $48. I was serviced 1.12.21. This review is for both MC Nails and Beauty Nails as they have used both. Either way the address and phone number is the same and you will still get "Patty" the owner. I had not gone to get my nails done since the pandemic and saved what money I did have by learning to do acrylics myself from home. I came in after reading good reviews under the Beauty Nails name on Yelp. There were only a few yet good ones from a couple of Yelp Elites. The hours said they were open as early as 9am, so I arrived right at opening yet it was closed. So then I called. She didn't update her hours on Yelp. She comes in later now and a previous review mentioned about her struggle with time management. Sure enough after agreeing to give her an hour and come back (which meant paying Lyft again since I don't drive and I explained this) she asked for an extra 20 minutes. I still gave her longer than that just in case. When I arrived she had on a mask, took my temperature, and showed me where to wash my hands as far as following Covid protocols. I definitely appreciated this part! She had a sign outside and the prices were written on pieces of paper covering the previously printed prices but the numbers were somewhat worn off from being out in the sun pre-covid era obviously as it was closed. While I was sitting and getting my hands prepped and I had seen another sign (this time entirely handwritten) posted directly on the plexiglass in front of me with a new set of RAISED prices. The acrylics price had gone up to about twice as much at $50! She said it was because of prices of her products going up. She should've told me on the phone when she asked me to come later and even texted me also. She never once mentioned prices going up. I said right away when I first spoke with her that I HAD MY OWN COLORS. While starting to work on my nails another customer came in and she started working on her instead. I was not in a hurry and there to relax and the customer was chatting with me as we were the only ones. I let it go and waited just sitting there with tips glued on and still really long since they were not cut yet. When she came back to my hands she went right for the topic of me having been practicing my own acrylics during the lockdowns that she heard me discussing with her other customer. She had an attitude about it carrying on about how that takes years to learn and telling me what I didn't know about it without asking what I had learned and practiced so far. I mean REAL sensitive about it. I was understanding that it's a sensitive time for business and she hadn't really had any. So I chose to respond kindly as I had been. I stated that regardless of the surge of women doing their own nails now due to covid (even though teens have been posting these tutorials online since before covid) that I'll still go and get my nails done sometimes. When talking to me she was snippy instead of happy and friendly. She admittedly got close to my cuticles hurting them a bit with the drill at one point telling me that's how to do it. She DID apologize for taking the other customer after already working on me but when halfway done she LITERALLY clapped her hands together one time while saying, "Now let's talk PRICE!!" There was no "talk" with me, only fees. She looked at my hands and her work done thus far flipping my hands back and forth. Said, "Hm..." to herself and wrote $58 ($8 more than her second hand written sign of changed prices). Then continuing to talk only to herself and not me said, "No that's wrong. It'll be $60 even." Then ASKED if I would tip! She still wasn't even done yet! I still gave a generous $10 tip as she has not had business from being closed. However that $2 boost she gave herself was really a tip too as a $2 difference definitely isn't going to make or break your nail salon staying in business. I already had in mind that I wouldn't be spending more than $60 for an acrylic full set especially because I brought in MY OWN COLORS and I wasn't even sure if wanted any designs at all because none were displayed. One of the nail colors and the top coat I brought in said gel and I told her. She said it's extra for gel. I had to pay an ADDITIONAL $8 in a separate SECOND charge to my card bringing the total to now $78 just for a fresh full set of acrylics WITH my own colors. She took RUBBING ALCOHOL (used in polish removers) to wipe over the top coat after curing it and was shocked that it wiped the nail polish COMPLETELY OFF. She said it's because my colors were not gel yet nail polish removers have alcohol in them. She fixed it insisting I use her top coat this time instead and then used the a hand dryer that looked old and one was broken. Most of her tools looked older. She FINALLY turned on some music as I left. She voided the $8 charge for gel but still no refund 2 weeks later. Last week the top coat started peeling and my skin started peeling too. I've gotten them redone elsewhere now for half the price. read more

New owners beginning of September 2018, and there's nothing good about it. First off, a gel lack manicure took 1 h 25 min... But, they can't do nails. She used the nail filer machine(?) to take of my former gel lack. She totally overdid it and filed way to much on top of my nail. The skin underneath the nail got red. I was afraid she would make a hole, that's how long she used that machine. She also couldn't use it and she accidentally filed 4(!!!) of my cuticles, 2 started bleeding. This used to be my to-go place, but I'm never going back. --- UPDATE: After two weeks I removed the shellac, and it was horrifying. First off, during these two weeks, many of my nails had chipped. My nails never chip, and certainly not when I have shellac on. Of course, I didn't go back there to remove it. When another nail salon removed it, it was painful as the nail was so thin. Not only could you see the difference in thickness from what she had filed down, but underneath the extremely thin nail, the skin was dark red. It looked really scary, and it did hurt. This husband and wife duo not only is absolutely adorable to me, they are meticulous and hard working. The husband did my mani and she did my pedi. Another plus: there was no wait when I went on a Saturday morning. Both employees were really friendly and professional. The girl who did my pedicure did an awesome job, and she had a pretty good voice as she sang along to the Muzak. I pre-paid and she tip-shamed me (I actually added a couple bucks before she really got to work because she made me feel guilty, but turns out I really shouldn't have). The whole pedi felt like I was being punished: she was rough with my feet, bent my toes into painful positions, filed but didn't trim my nails down so they were way too long, and barely worked on my callouses (which is one of the main reasons I get pedis). I've visited here off and on over the past five years for pedicure services. I would go more frequently if I lived nearby because I find their customer experience excellent. Note: I have never had acrylics or been super into nail polish, so my pedicures are more about overall foot appearance and foot massage. The foot care experience here is top notch. The regular pedicure includes a scrub, foot and lower calf massage, hot stones, and warm towel wrap. All this for $30, and each person son I've ever worked with takes the foot massage seriously. The deluxe includes parrafin and a foot mask for about $50. I've had this service as well and recommend it. The atmosphere is laid back and they play soft spa music.
