Ambience was an older crowd of 50+ year olds. Good music. The cocktails looked good from what I saw. I asked the bartender for recommendations, he said they're known for their pizza. First time visiting Matchbox. I came for a friend c birthday brunch so we had a large party. The waiter was super friendly. He immediately asked if we wanted separate checks or one bill and just asked for patience. I decided to go with the brunch menu since it was available. I ordered the chicken and waffles. The food came out quickly despite the number in our group. While the chicken was hot, the waffles were not. They were not even warm. I like a little bit of crispiness to my waffle and they did not stand up to the test. I also ordered the fire abd ice dragon fruit mojito.... amazing. I am saving room for dessert always. I tried the cinnamon roll which was supposed to be a starter but my friend ordered it at the end. It was hot, but I just wasn't a fan. Now I saw a video of the 3.6, 9 donuts. Matchbox is a go-to when staying close. They've got a little something for everyone, to include a full bar and some local beers. The service is usually pretty good. I think the food is average, but there are a lot of choices. The flatbread pizza is a solid choice. It gets crowded around dinner time, so plan accordingly! read more

Not accessible from inside mall. Service was fine. Relatively empty inside. I liked the outdoor seating upstairs. Overlooked a nice view of construction lol. They didn't bring waters or ask if we wanted that. We had to request one. They didn't have (ran out of) any coffee... which made my brain explode. It was 1230 on Sunday, 1.5 hours after brunch started. My rosé was on the stale side. Only a remnant of fizziness, a bit disappointing but I didn't tell them to take it back because I didn't want to be petty. Brunch special for an app and main food $30 is worth it if you pair certain items. The old bay "jumbo" wings were tiny and dry... I wouldn't have wanted to pay $15 for 6 of those but having gotten that and the eggs benedict it only made them $3 technically. The crab cake eggs Benedict was not great. Crab cake was mushy, the avocado was mushy, the bread was chewy/a bit tough, the eggs were NOT poached- in fact they were completely cooked through. However the potatoes were PHENOMENAL and the redeeming factor for the meal. Would not get again overall. This place is fine. I think there are plenty of other good spots to dine at in Pentagon City so I probably wouldn't return unless a friend insisted on it. read more

Met a friend around Valentine's Day for dinner. I ordered the cheese pizza with arugula and it was delicious. But the arugula had some wilted leaves. Also I ordered large and she brought a small. And she brought it out after my friends dinner. My friend got the salmon. Although it was a small piece it looked good. She said it was great but she was still hungry afterward so we split dessert. Another networking event today with NVBCC. Had my lips all fixed on my chicken dish and the kitchen dropped the ball. Don't you hate it when that happens?? My 1/2 chicken was dry and relatively bland as comparison to how juicy and well seasoned I've been raving about it being so far to date at multiple Matchbox locations too. The crispiness was correct though. Disappointed. Dear Management, Please work on the quality control at this store. I don't know who was in the kitchen this afternoon but it sure wasn't Miss Aretha or Miss Mahalia based on what showed up in my plate this afternoon. Loved the food at this restaurant so much we ate here two nights in a row! It helped that our hotel was next to it. We started with the Maryland Crab Dip which was so good I didn't want to share with my husband. He ordered the salmon and liked it. I ordered the Pan Seared Scallops which were perfectly prepared and seasoned. It comes with creamed corn which I don't care for and they were great about substituting asparagus and broccolini. Mahmood was our server both nights. I watched as he connected with each and every customer and made you feel like he'd treat you like a friend if he saw you outside of work. Now I've been to this matchbox twice recently enough but I'm going to particularly write about their happy hour. Don't waste your time. The happy hour is more expensive than others around and not worth it. The pot stickers weren't even warm and their cocktails consists of only like two drink combinations. They ran out of the wine listed for happy hour so my friend got another glass of wine that the waisted recommended and it was something crazy like $19. Overall not worth it. Their saving grace is that I've had other food from here that was decent- I had the ribs and fries I believe and those were good but this experience was just terrible. read more

We were a few minutes late, but they still were able to accommodate us. The service here is excellent! we were greeted promptly at the door by the host and seated upstairs. This is such a spacious area with beautiful decor and nice cool temperatures. Our waiter Alejandro was excellent! He was very attentive and gave suitable recommendations that did not disappoint. His was so on point with our orders! We ordered pizza and drinks, which came out promptly. The pizza was ok, my husband wished his had more sauce, but mine was delicious. Food is good even though a little overpriced. You can tell the food is measured out in the kitchen because the portions can be a little on the skimpy side. Let me warn you about something. When I eat here and the server brings the check, I peruse the check and discover i have been overcharged to the tune of usually $3.00 to $4.00. Accident or deliberate? Some servers have been known to "pad" the bill hoping to get additional money for themselves PLUS a tip! I always check the bill before I pay. When I noticed I had been overcharged and I had to have it corrected, I left the restaurant after leaving a minimum tip. You should do the same. read more

We ordered Bistro Burger - the burger was top notch, and the fries are amazing!! Chicken Pesto pizza - This also met expectations as a great pie! Definitely big enough to share or at least have leftovers. All American Breakfast - this was a great option with tons of different food. The waiter said he didn't understand me and stated probably not. I asked if he could check and he asked me what items I was interested in, and when I told him he just told me what was in the items that was listed on the menu... very unhelpful. He then grabbed a manager. The manager told me I could check the website (which I already stated I did) but that they were not that advanced to know the nutrition in the meals. He recommended to get a salad.. for anyone still reading salads still have nutritional facts and aren't healthy just because it's a salad... Anyways I ordered the Apple salad with shrimp ($22). I asked what kind of seasoning was on the shrimp and the waiter said regular seasoning. I asked him what is that? And he said i don't know. I asked could he just do no seasoning then. which had very little greens/spinach in it, 5 pieces of shrimp 3 thin slices of apple.. very lackluster salad.
