Loved the food at this restaurant so much we ate here two nights in a row! It helped that our hotel was next to it. We started with the Maryland Crab Dip which was so good I didn't want to share with my husband. He ordered the salmon and liked it. I ordered the Pan Seared Scallops which were perfectly prepared and seasoned. It comes with creamed corn which I don't care for and they were great about substituting asparagus and broccolini. Mahmood was our server both nights. I watched as he connected with each and every customer and made you feel like he'd treat you like a friend if he saw you outside of work. He immediately asked if we wanted separate checks or one bill and just asked for patience. I decided to go with the brunch menu since it was available. I ordered the chicken and waffles. The food came out quickly despite the number in our group. While the chicken was hot, the waffles were not. They were not even warm. I like a little bit of crispiness to my waffle and they did not stand up to the test. I also ordered the fire abd ice dragon fruit mojito.... amazing. I am saving room for dessert always. I tried the cinnamon roll which was supposed to be a starter but my friend ordered it at the end. It was hot, but I just wasn't a fan. Now I saw a video of the 3.6, 9 donuts. We were a few minutes late, but they still were able to accommodate us. The service here is excellent! we were greeted promptly at the door by the host and seated upstairs. This is such a spacious area with beautiful decor and nice cool temperatures. Our waiter Alejandro was excellent! He was very attentive and gave suitable recommendations that did not disappoint. His was so on point with our orders! We ordered pizza and drinks, which came out promptly. The pizza was ok, my husband wished his had more sauce, but mine was delicious. Food is good even though a little overpriced. You can tell the food is measured out in the kitchen because the portions can be a little on the skimpy side. Let me warn you about something. When I eat here and the server brings the check, I peruse the check and discover i have been overcharged to the tune of usually $3.00 to $4.00. Accident or deliberate? Some servers have been known to "pad" the bill hoping to get additional money for themselves PLUS a tip! I always check the bill before I pay. When I noticed I had been overcharged and I had to have it corrected, I left the restaurant after leaving a minimum tip. You should do the same. read more

I wouldn't have wanted to pay $15 for 6 of those but having gotten that and the eggs benedict it only made them $3 technically. The crab cake eggs Benedict was not great. Crab cake was mushy, the avocado was mushy, the bread was chewy/a bit tough, the eggs were NOT poached- in fact they were completely cooked through. However the potatoes were PHENOMENAL and the redeeming factor for the meal. Would not get again overall. This place is fine. I think there are plenty of other good spots to dine at in Pentagon City so I probably wouldn't return unless a friend insisted on it. read more

Another networking event today with NVBCC. Had my lips all fixed on my chicken dish and the kitchen dropped the ball. Don't you hate it when that happens?? My 1/2 chicken was dry and relatively bland as comparison to how juicy and well seasoned I've been raving about it being so far to date at multiple Matchbox locations too. We stopped in for lunch during non peak hours. Easy access from the metro to pentagon city. We were promptly seated, but that was the only "fast" aspect of our visit. Our server took an extreme amount of time to come to us once seated. He did not get our drink order correct for a party of 4. However, it was corrected. Now I've been to this matchbox twice recently enough but I'm going to particularly write about their happy hour. Don't waste your time. The happy hour is more expensive than others around and not worth it. The pot stickers weren't even warm and their cocktails consists of only like two drink combinations. They ran out of the wine listed for happy hour so my friend got another glass of wine that the waisted recommended and it was something crazy like $19. Overall not worth it. We went there around 1:30pm on Saturday 4/26 afternoon; me, my husband, and our son. Upon arrival, the place was complete chaos. There were some ladies in the foyer area about ready to throw blows. They were yelling and getting heated. We slipped by quickly, only to encounter the completely unhelpful hostess. We had to yell for her to be able to hear us because the music was insanely loud. A volume you'd find at 11pm at a bar/club on U Street, not during late lunch in Pentagon City. When she could finally hear that I asked how long the wait was for a table for 2 adults/1 child, she shouted back that: "There is no wait because it's reservation only." Anyone who looked around could see many open tables, and anyone who has worked in the restaurant biz knows that YOU ALWAYS keep a couple of tables open for walk-ins. Especially at a location that's attached to a busy mall. At the very least, she could've offered bar-seating only but nope. She made no offer to help or accommodate. Appalling lack of customer service skills, and it was apparent she had no interest in making any effort. My husband really likes the food there. I'm indifferent. But now, after this ridiculous experience, we will never give them our business ever again and will share our experience with all of our friends, besides anyone reading this post. I don't frequently write negative reviews but this experience was so ridiculously bad that I had to share it publicly. We ended up going to Wagamama in Clarendon. Thank GOD it was a civilized environment with no fights about to break out in their facility and great service. I don't know about you, but companies need to earn my patronage.
