A Modo Mio offers many food specials. For example, on Tuesdays, that's when we stopped there for dinner, all their pasta dishes are 1/2 price. However, given that they ranked 32nd among this country's top 50 Pizza restaurants, I had to order a pizza. And I'll get to my pizza after I discuss some other things, because it all plays together. Also, during my visit, I kept drawing comparisons between this place and Pupatella, a local Neapolitan pizza juggernaut. The Big Question to answer is why A Modo Mio got a spot on the Top 50 while Pupatella didn't even make the cut. Access is easy, and parking is good. There are lots of spaces that wrap around the restaurant. That's in contrast to Pupatell, which has limited parking and where I always wind up using the Safeway lot across the street. The restaurant is clean and spacious, with plenty of comfortable seating. It also has a long, well-stocked bar where you can sit to enjoy a beverage or a meal. Pupatella doesn't have any of that. When you arrive, you're greeted by a host who shows you to your seat. A very short while later, a waiter shows up and does all the things waiters do. At Pupatella, you wait in line to place your order, then find an open table. TLDR: Your dining experience, outside of the food, is much more civilized and relaxing at A Modo Mio. The pie that earned their 32 out of 50 ranking was the Sicilia. But I ordered a 12" Casertana because I'm not crazy about eggplant and like sausage. The pie arrived a short while later, piping hot and loaded with sausage. The taste was sublime and delicious. My only complaint was that the basil was added before baking, and I prefer that herb when it's not reduced to ash. So back to The Big Question, is the A Modo Mio pizza *that* much better than Pupatella that it earned a spot amongst the Top 50 while the other one didn't even make the cut? Frankly, it's not. It is good pizza... possibly great pizza. But that's also true of the other place. What sets A Modo Mio apart from that other place, and the answer to the Big Question, is that the criteria for generating the Top 50 list included more than the pizza. It also took into account: - Hospitality and Service - Ambiance - Beverage Program. Beyond the pizza, A Modo Mio has those things in abundance, while the other place pretty much has none. TLDR: Comparing pizzas side by side, the two places are on par. However, if you take into account the entire dining experience, you will be much happier with your pizza here, as opposed to that other place or most other pizza restaurants in the DMV area. read more

I had the opportunity to have New Year's Eve dinner here and I was able to score a 7:30 PM reservation using the Rezi app several weeks ago. There's so much parking in this area and they have indoor and outdoor seating. One of the things I really liked is that they seem to have specials three or four days a week if I remember correctly, I think Mondays are half off wine bottles. Tuesdays are 30% off the menu or maybe that was happy hour Monday through Friday and then Wednesdays is half off pizzas and then Thursdays was a sale on cocktails. One of the disappointing things right off the bat was that they took my 7:30 PM reservation and even texted me at 7 PM to make sure I was still coming at 7:30 but nobody ever mentioned that they would close the kitchen promptly at 8 PM, which meant my New Year's Eve dinner was extremely rushed. By 745 I already had to put in my drinks, appetizer, entrées, and desserts. Had I known that they were going to close the kitchen at 8 PM I either would have gone to another place or asked to change my reservation for an earlier time. At 8 PM most of the restaurant was empty, but they still had about four tables, including ours still filled along with two or three folks at the bar. Another thing to note is that they will automatically add 20% gratuity to your bill so please keep that in mind. As far as the food goes, I will say that the pizzas were really good and a small pizza comes with four big slices and a large pizza comes with eight big slices. Personally, I really enjoyed the dough and it was very flavorful, but slightly undercooked. They are known for their Neapolitan style pizzas, and it really shine through. I also got the opportunity to try the lasagna Bolognese, which came sizzling and what seemed to be a mini cast-iron pot. It was evident that this was pre-cooked though and reheated in this pot/pan but what was disappointing was that the bottom layers were sizzling hot but the top layers were room temperature and unfortunately, since the kitchen was closed, I didn't have the opportunity to get that taken care of. I would definitely come back and give them a shot especially because they have weekly deals, but it was truly a disappointment that they took a 730 reservation weeks ago, knowing that they intended on closing at 8 PM. As we were leaving, we got the opportunity to meet one of the restaurant partners and they were so kind; it's evident that this restaurant has regulars and I look forward to my next visit and seeing what it's like when I have more time to eat and enjoy. read more

I thought the pizza was pretty good, but a couple of them were a little more floppy than I would like. We saw four different pizzas to share meatball egg, eggplant, pesto, and prosciutto. My favorite was the prosciutto with the fresh arugula. I also enjoyed the pesto and burrata. We got the roasted broccoli and there's nothing special. Comes with free bread and olive oil didn't really enjoy it, since the bread was hard. We were there for someone's birthday and we got free Panna cotta and an ensemble to sing happy birthday. This place is a hit! We glad we listened to a recommendation and found this place. We had bruschetta which really good! The pizza we had Diavola, Prosciutto with Arugula and pepperoni. Everything was so good but my fave is Prosciutto with Arugula. The dough, taste and feels like am in Napoli again. We also ordered the lasagna, but I think it's not for our party. It's not bad but we just have high expectations. The staff were wonderful, really fast and they are there in the right time. The place was has its own character and charm from the outside to inside. Most authentic Italian pizza in the DMV. The numerous awards are well deserved. I ordered a 12 inch Margherita pizza. Great balance of sauce and cheese. The crust was crispy, not too thick, and brought me back to the years I lived in Italy. The flour is even shipped from Italy! The 12 inch feeds one person quite easily, but can also be shared for 2 with an appetizer. Service was friendly, genuine, and fast. Vibe was casual. The pizza here is so tasty! We got a pizza that was half Arlington, and half Casertana, both great options! The food came out pretty promptly. The drinks were also strong in a good way. They give complimentary bread, which was nice to eat since we were all really hungry. Service was very helpful and great! I was able to walk in without a reservation with a party of four for a girls dinner. We were graded with a cozy family, friendly environment that had no frills and was low-key but still a little upscale. They have a nice outdoor patio as well and plenty of parking. The food is really authentic and feels like you are in Italy. The pizzas, especially feature amazing mozzarella Cheese and fresh tomatoes. I highly recommend the pesto burrata pizza. The pizza here was ok, but I was surprised at the expensive cake fee. At other restaurants, I don't have to pay an insane cake fee and they will store the cake, add candles, cut the cake, and provide plates and utensils. Here, they charge way too much just to store the cake. The pizza was nothing special, so the service really soiled my experience. read more

Came here on a Saturday around 7ish with my fellow pizza aficionado. Very nice. The dough is really really thin and soft before it gets airy and a little more dense (and nicely blistered). Sauce is EXCELLENT. I thought the tomato pie (no cheese) was outstanding (but could be further enhanced with a sprinkle of fresh garlic and pecorino). The red Modo Mio(?) with the prosciutto, arugula, olives and ricotta(?) was my favorite. The white porchetta with shrooms was almost equally outstanding. Maybe add sauce and make it red? REALLY really good though. The 4 Cheese was my buddy's fave, and he's as sick in the head (we've traveled for pizza...more than once) for za as I am. Lastly the Margherita. We came in here for a Friday night dinner and made a reservation because at 7PM on a Friday, they were quite busy. The place feels very inviting and like a place that is popular with the community - tons of regulars, people getting takeout, talking to staff, etc. We were sat in the bar area where we had close access to the drinks and the view of the pizza making process. Our waiter I think was also the bartender - we were able to order drinks quickly. The cocktail prices were super fair ($13 for a Cosmo) and Peroni on tap, which my husband loved. We started off with a small caesar and the 2 meatballs - both were super reminiscent of good, home style Italian. The sauce with the meatballs was fantastic and the salad dressing was not too anchovy forward. We then ordered our mains- the lasagna and the Arlington pizza. We wait awhile for our mains - I thought maybe it took a while for the pizzas to bake but we saw groups around us come in, order pizza and pay before we got our entrees. The bartender/waiter came over and apologized, as he had forgotten to put in our entrees. We weren't to perturbed- it was a Friday night after all but was a bummer to wait so long. Only then, after his mistake, did the waiter bring us the free bread that I saw the other waiters bringing to other tables. I'll chalk it up to a one time thing or maybe he was new. Once our mains did come out, they were fantastic. The lasagna was great and the pizza was huge, loaded with so many toppings and the crust itself was fantastic. Definitely something to split or take home leftovers of. We also ordered dessert (the gluten free cake) which was fantastic and not overly sweet. Overall great time minus the snafu with the late food - we thought maybe we would get the dessert for free or something but oh well. We came here on a Wednesday and it was packed, we could not find parking in the actual lot so we had to park on the street. Luckily we did make a reservation so we had our table ready. The free bread and oil were fresh and great. Wednesdays they have half off pizzas so we got those and I tried the Gnocchi Sorrentina. The pizza was great and the gnocchi was really good sadly I just wish it came with more. We also got the tiramisu and mini cannolis, both were just ok. I would definitely come back on Wednesday and get more pizza or even on Tuesdays where they have half off pasta. read more

Wednesdays are half-price pizza nights and restaurant was packed (inside and outside). Delicious margarita pizza, chewy crust, sweet tomato sauce and just enough cheese. A Modo Mio is a lowkey Italian restaurant that is about a mile away from the busier Arlington neighborhoods. My friend and I stopped by on Friday evening for dinner after seeing good reviews. Overall, I'd say our pizza was tastier and more flavorful than our pasta. The pricing is good and fair. The complimentary bread was enjoyable on its own and a slight bonus with the olive oil on the side. GNOCCHI SORRENTINA - 20 The gnocchi was fresh, but not much flavor -- tasted like any other pasta. The tomato sauce was on the bland side and the mozzarella didn't add much flavor to it either. The fresh tomatoes mixed in the sauce were a pleasant surprise. Overall, if you're just looking for carbs to fill you up (which we were that evening), this is a good option. It doesn't taste unhealthy, and it's very homey and fresh. I probably wouldn't get this again in the future, though. MEAT LOVER (PERSONAL) - 19 The dough was a bit too burnt on the crust, but there was plenty of meat (pepperoni, ham and sausage) that were well seasoned and salted to give the pizza more depth. The dough was very chewy and fresh, the mozzarella and tomato sauce were light. Pizza was pretty solid. A Modo Mio is hands down one of the best Italian restaurants in the DMV. I didn't know this, but the owner of this restaurant also owns il Canale in Georgetown. I actually prefer A Modo Mio to il Canale anytime since it's closer to where I live, there's free parking, and it's a more family friendly restaurant. Great place to visit if you have kids. My daughter loves the food here. Servers are all very friendly and the food is great. Of particular note is the Spaghetti Del Mare. Probably one of the best pastas I've ever had, so definitely give this dish a go when you're here. The spaghetti here is slightly thicker than most other places, and it's definitely better than "regular" spaghetti. Sauce on the Spaghetti Del Mare is light and flavorful, and they don't skimp on the seafood inside. Pizzas are all definitely on point here as well. Can't go wrong. Tuesdays are pasta night (1/2 off dine in) and Wednesdays are pizza night (1/2 off pizzas). These are amazing deals, so if you can get here on these nights, it's definitely worth it. 10/10 experience for me here. read more

Delicious, authentic certified Neapolitan pizza with large pies - great for sharing! I spotted the pizza place while driving to Pie-tazza next door, and so glad I went back to try Modo Mio! There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and love the adorable little Fiat! The pillowy charred crust with sweet marinara sauce and fresh mozzarella cheese topped with basil was truly divine! The pizza was a generous portion and large enough for hubby and I to easily share the pizza without bickering over the last slice! The pizza was ready within a few minutes and cooked in a dome oven with propane gas. A glass of Chianti paired well with the pizza. The housemade creamy cake-like tiramisu with cappuccino was the perfect sweet ending to our meal! The service was great, when hubby spilled his cup of cappuccino, the waitress promptly cleaned up the mess and made a fresh cappuccino for him. I've driven by Modo Mio a few times, on a recent Friday I decided to grab some pasta there before running some errands. I was impressed when I walked inside, it was a much nicer ambiance than I expected. I bellied up to the bar where I was greeted by a very friendly bartender. There were also a few locals at the bar that were busy chatting with the manager. My meal started with some bread and olive oil: really enjoyed the thick and chewy texture of the French bread. Gnocchi Ai 4 Formaggi: Fantastic cheese sauce- it hit the spot and my craving for cheese + pasta. Meatballs: Medium size, a nice thick texture, and beef blend but just OK. The crust is on the thin side and always served super fresh right from the oven. The rest of the menu has a good selection of Italian-American staples. Takeout is good, but dine in if you can to get the best experience. (There is both indoor and outdoor seating.) Service here is friendly and fast. Nice place, seemed authentic with nice vintage poster ads and good pizza. A few things to note -- service was sort of impersonal, with no one saying goodbye. Un po' fredda. We mentioned it was a birthday party -- no effort to bring anything or do anything special. We were seated next to a crowded table despite several other tables being nearby. Three of our party were Italian; no attempt to note this, speak Italian, or acknowledge -- is this restaurant run by Italians or not? No effort to accommodate kids. I found this place from an article advertising 'One of the best in the United States' (#48 out of 50, to be exact), as selected by a group of Italian experts. Modo Mio means "My Way" and specializes in Neapolitan pizza. The menu had a good number of options and I don't think I could have gone wrong. A friend of mine & I decided to split two different personal pizzas; a meatlovers and one with prosciutto. At my server's advice, we also got a nice bottle of rose'. Service was spot on. Since it was a weekday afternoon the place wasn't totally packed, but it seemed to focus on a more family-friendly crowd. Parking was easy as well. Both pizzas were outstanding. The crust was toasted juuuust enough to be toasty but still very soft. Toppings on both were excellent. I love the idea of a personalized pizza-delivery car, which is parked up front. read more

My daughter and son-in-law brought my wife and here for dinner. Three of us had pizza and one had gnocchi. We all shared each other's dishes. The pizza was one of the best I've ever had, and that is saying a lot because I was raised in Syracuse, NY and there seemed to be a pizza place on every block! The gnocchi was incredible, very soft and delicious. For desert the four of us shared a tira misu and a piece of Torta Caprese. Both were excellent. You can't go wrong eating here. read more
