I love grabbing lunch at Sweetleaf when I'm working in the McLean office. The restaurant has a cute beachy vibe, and the outdoor seating is perfect on a nice day. The only downside is the limited parking, which can be a bit inconvenient. (The restaurant is also located on a one-way street so that sucks a bit)! The staff is always friendly and welcoming. My favorite dishes are the Steak Chimichurri and the Big Fin Salad. The steak can be a little tough at times, but the chimichurri and corn make it delicious. The Big Fin Salad is another solid choice with grilled salmon and crispy parmesan crisps. Today I tried the Spicy Avocado Salad and customized it with basmati rice, cherry tomatoes, and avocado ranch. The avocado was perfectly ripe, and the tomatoes were super refreshing. However, the tortilla chips were a bit stale, and I wasn't a fan of the cilantro-lime vinaigrette. The avocado ranch definitely made the dish more enjoyable. I probably wouldn't order this salad again, but I'm still excited to try more items from their menu!! read more

I'm a big fan of Sweet Leaf, and this McLean location never disappoints! In my opinion, they offer even better salad options than some of the bigger chains. The portions are always generous, especially the steak in both the Steak Taco Salad and Steak Bowl. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying, and the smoothie was incredibly fresh too. Consistently great food, highly recommend! read more

I was very disappointed in the taste, the service and the quality of the food. I had the Chicken Barley soup and it was luke warm at best, with not much taste. I did mention it to the lady at the front and she gave me another cup but there was no difference. I left quite disappointed. Not a lot of ambiance to speak of in general. read more

I just had to update this- you really should read other posts - the rudeness iby your staff is in many reviews. Including the experience I had in dealing with you - very arrogant, short tempered - guess your staff mirrora your behavior. My ICE comment stands. Other people also complain about the rude service. You can try to shame me and be an ostrich with your head in the sand. I called the day, I got rude service and asked specifically who the only male was that I received rude service from - they said it was the owner/manager. So figuring out who it was is your work to do not mine. I only leave the truth in my reviews - when I get good food and service I do place good reviews and vice versa. Your response is as expected. read more

This was my first visit at Sweet Leaf, and it didn't disappoint. I got the Butternut Squash and Apple salad, and it was really delicious. Service was quick, too. My only issue was the parking. It's extremely small and tight. This place was busy, so it was tough getting in and out. read more

I'm such a big fan of this place! The food, the service and cooking team is incredible. However, my favorite product are their smoothies! Even when my family' comes from out of the country going for the Sweet Leafs smoothies are a must. My only recommendation for this place is to acquire a more sophisticated smoothies machine to meet tte high demand of this product to avoid letting down customers as it happened early this week. I highly recommend this place read more

A healthy and cozy corner in McLean The Sweet Leaf in McLean location is that neighborhood cafe we all wish we had nearby. Delicious and varied food, relaxed atmosphere... This is an easy going place. McLean can be snooty, but you won't find that here. Instead a friendly staff, who make their guests feel welcome. This is a casual spot to get lunch or dinner. They have a variety of sandwiches, and you won't leave hungry. Generous portions and quality mesh together. Parking is occasionally a challenge. Definitely try one of their salads or bowls. They are healthy. Seating is very comfortable. This is a chill place for a meal. Prices for the area are reasonable. My only problem is struggling to avoid the dessert menu. They have so many tempting choices. read more

Came here for the milkshake (of all things) and it was very good. I had cookies and crème and my sister had the mint chip. Sweetleaf Cafe is a local fast casual restaurant that serves a great selection of salad bowls, smoothies, and sandwiches. All are made with fresh ingredients. Compared to other national chains, I actually think Sweetleaf's salad bowls are better. They are mixed with a nice combination of ingredients. For example, I like the flavor of Citrus Sesame Chicken Bowl that combines chicken and orange slices to provide some sweetness to the salad. I also like the sandwiches, such as So Cali Club which is made with avocado, bacon, turkey breast and hard-boiled egg. Its McLean store offers outdoor seating. read more

Sweetleaf can be a hit/miss depending on the salad that you get and the server. The salads and sandwiches are pricey and the service is lukewarm. Don't recommend online orders as customizations will be omitted while you'll be happily charged for them. While Sweet Greens and Chop't boast more toppings, the turmeric rice at Sweetleaf is bursting with flavor! The fresh pesto dressing is divine. The Falafel Tzatziki always hits the spot with pickled onions, fresh crispy pita chips, house-made falafel, cucumber, cabbage, kale, and topped with Tzatziki dressing. The Caprese sandwich is a disappointment - too salty with an overload of black pepper. When I ordered UberEats and paid extra to add avocado and roasted red peppers, those toppings were omitted. The smoothies are skimpy on the fruit and only use 2% milk. After a few sips, my hubby threw out the smoothie. The cookies & brownies look appetizing, but are sometimes stale. Save your appetite for the salad! I've become increasingly disappointed with the lukewarm inattentive service and declining quality of food. Might come back if I'm really craving a salad and want to relax on the patio. read more

I've been here twice now and would not recommend. Very expensive, not the friendliest staff and we got smoothies where the only ingredients listed were fruit. No warnings about dairy being in them, and I'm allergic. My boyfriend's smoothie wasn't even blended it was so chunky. Really wanted to like this place but disappointed and not worth the cost. read more

Lots of great options from froyo, soups, salads, sandwiches and desserts. Everything is so fresh and the staff is friendly. I love their seasonal menu items, always something new to try! I used to come here all the time in high school, but lots of things have changed since then~ When I came back to the area after school I had mixed feelings about the new menu~ some of my old favorites were no longer there and I know they changed the type of wrap they use~~~ In addition the prices have slightly increased (I noticed because I used to get a smoothie almost weekly back in the day!) The smoothie I got for this visit was a little disappointing :( the person who made it put fewer strawberries in than the usual, and mango is no longer an option! I tried to get her attention to see if she could add some more, but she didn't even turn around... (the amount she put was equivalent to what she put in my friend's smoothie which had 2 other ingredients... I thought since my only topping was strawberries, she could put a bit more than what she used for my friend) The sandwich I got was okay, but a little dry. My friend did enjoy her grain bowl tho! Overall the atmosphere is still cute but was disappointed because I knew how great it used to be! read more

Big fan of their breakfast sammies! We've done pickup from here a few times for weekend breakfast and I am very happy with their food. The Malibu Melt breakfast sandwich and the Farmers are our go-tos. Their ice green tea and coffee is good, but it is important to note that they do not have any substitute for dairy milk. I will definitely be back for another sandwich soon! read more

So I checked out this spot based on other reviews and it did not disappoint! Now, you just might pass this place if you're unfamiliar with the area - well, I did lol But, once you get here, it's a plethora of fresh food options! The atmosphere is kind of an open dive kind of place that is very clean. The fresh food for your devouring, is in an assembly line type of case (not cheesy though) for you to choose from. All of the food looked fresh, healthy and extremely appealing. I was focused on breakfast. I just wanted a basic bacon, egg, and cheese on a bagel....well, what I got was a Morning Glory and what glory it was! Although it seems to be a simple breakfast sandwich, I could taste the freshness of the ingredients! Hmmmm I will definitely be back to indulge in those fresh lunch items! read more

I have fond memories of eating at Sweetleaf- I love to support local establishments with natural, unprocessed foods. However, it was pricey back in the day and I see that prices have only shot up. You could argue the salads/bowls are competitively priced to similar chains, but $10+ a sandwich? This time, I found grit/sand in my chimichurri bowl. I'm not sure whether it came from the spinach or chimichurri, but I've cracked a tooth on having sand in a salad before and this is a serious problem that needs to be addressed. Besides that, the bowl was delicious. read more

Sandwich was fine, but expensive for what it was. Then they charged me for my own bottle of water I had brought with me into store, when I was clear all I wanted was the sandwich and the chips. Except for the fact that I checked my receipt, I perhaps would not noticed. Then they insisted in giving me the refund in cash, as opposed to putting it back on the card, as they were trying to avoid the band fees. Bad experience! read more

I stopped by for lunch a couple weeks ago and go their Sabroso bowl and their Harvest bowl which was out of this world good. I was kind of in the mood for something filling cause I had just gotten out of my yoga class and knew I didn't have time to grab any food for dinner. I ate the Harvest bowl as my late breakfast/lunch, it was unexpectedly filling. The avocado and quinoa really pack some protein and compliment the egg and pesto dressing really well. Once I got home that night and propped up in front of the tv, I finally dug into my Sabroso bowl. It was just as good or even better than the Harvest bowl. Packed with chicken, corn, avo, turmeric rice and a jalapeno caesar, this was such a perfect combo. The only downside was the salad bread, by the time I got home it was soggy. I would recommend keeping it in a separate bag and not inside the salad. read more

Are here for lunch on Saturday at around 1pm. Surprisingly, there wasn't a line so we got seated and ordered 3 different salads. My favorite item on the menu is the Cobb salad and sometimes I get it with grilled chicken if I am hungry. I think for the most part, it's a pretty solid salad bar to go to if you are in the area. Both times I've been there I've been treated terribly by staff. The first time, they let somebody cut me in line because they knew them and then ignored me while I waited with my food to check out. In general they seemed very annoyed by my presence and had a mean expression. The second time, I thought I would place a pickup order and that would help. It did not. I arrived 15 minutes after placing it and they hadn't even looked at the ticket. There was nobody ahead of me. I waited for 20 minutes and they never made it! Said they were "cleaning" the machine which is not a valid excuse whatsoever. They made me very late to a medical appointment because of this. The cashier was rude to me when I tried to confront her about the wait and insisted it wasn't her fault and i was talking to the wrong person... so i asked to speak with the manager and she at first refused to come out and talk to me until my mom had to shout to her to come out from the back. She was extremely unprofessional and nasty and ROLLED HER EYES at us. i literally only ordered a smoothie and i ended up having to get a refund because they essentially said they wouldn't make it. This was early in the morning so there is no reason for their blender to be dirty or for them to wait to clean it or for it to take 20 minutes... sounds like a lot of bs because they didn't feel like prioritizing my pickup order. i'm not sure what i did to deserve that treatment twice in a row but it was extremely hurtful and humiliating and i ended up hungry without food. never eating there again. read more

Service is hilariously bad. The other day I came in to get a smoothie while my husband and baby waited in the car. I stood at the counter. Nothing. I waited. Nothing. There were staff people there making food but no amount of trying to get their attention worked. After 5 minutes, I finally left without ever having to spoken to anyone. I've been many times now bc the food is quite good and it's the closest food place to my house but every time I feel a pit in my stomach knowing I'll have another surly staff encounter as if I am inconveniencing them by being there in the first place. Such a shame bc the very verde smoothie and the various toasts are perfect for an afternoon treat. read more

5 stars always! I LOVE Sweetleaf and wish they had more locations. I was so sad when I moved to Maryland because there was no more Sweetleaf in my life. Sweetleaf is a good spot if you're craving a good quality sandwich or hearty salad. The salads are huge and very filling, I feel like I get value for my money because I often have enough leftovers for another meal later in the day. My favorite sandwiches are the Koo Koo Roo and the San Remo! The grain bowls are also really good, I like the tzakiki one best. This last time I went however there was a hair in my salad which was disappointing, so maybe the use of hair nets would be something the employees might consider. But this doesn't completely take away from the cafe as I'm sure it's happened almost everywhere, and out of the many years I've come this is the only time it's happened. Visited this place on a whim while driving through McLean for an appointment, and I was pleasantly surprised to find Sweet Leaf. I ordered the caprese sandwich on farmer's bread, and splurged and got a strawberry mango smoothie to wash it down. The sandwich was excellent-- how can you go wrong with fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, and spinach drizzled in balsamic vinegar and earthy pesto. Yum! The smoothie was also fantastic-- made with frozen yogurt, fresh strawberries and mangoes. The ambiance inside is nice and cozy-- sort of a rustic, country kitchen vibe. I would come back if I'm ever on that side of town. read more

ALERT! JUST SAY NO! I went there yesterday for the first time just to check it out and I will not ever go back. Service was rude and slow. Guy at the counter had an attitude, like he was having a bad day and taking it out on everyone. I ordered the ice cream which you get 3 scoops for $4 with up to 3 toppings. It is a little weird that the ice cream isn't on display but rather they go back in the back to get the ice cream and then tada appear with your cup. So I'm not really sure what I'm getting from back there, it was a little off if you ask me. So on my way out, I went to check out the rest of the menu and what else they have to offer and as I looked at the salad bar and I could help but notice FLIES EVERYWHERE ALL OVER THE FOOD, IT WAS DISGUSTING!!!!! I'm not talking a few flies I'm talking DOZENS OF FLIES ALL OVER THE SALAD FIXINGS. Not sanitary at all! read more

Came here for lunch with a friend who lives in the area. She had been here various times and recommended it for a good, healthy lunch option. It is kid friendly and casual which was necessary for us. They had high chairs readily available. Per my friend's recommendation, I got the San Remo salad which had grilled chicken, avocado, cheese, and tomato. I really enjoyed it and the portion was definitely big enough for leftovers. My friend went with the Santa Fe Salad with chicken which looked tasty as well. They give you a piece of bread if you request it and I would say this is comparable to a Sweet Green. Overall, a satisfying lunch. Go San Remo, you won't regret it! read more

I eat here a lot because of the nice outdoor seating that doesn't abut a busy street, but I am always disappointed. I usually get the caprese sandwich, but the balsamic dressing is much too sweet, so today I ordered the So Cali which has turkey, bacon, avocado--should be very tasty, right? The only thing that wasn't utterly bland was the bacon. I saw that they were preparing fresh strawberries, so I ordered a strawberry shake. I assumed they would be using the fresh berries, but instead the order was called back to the kitchen and a shake was promptly brought out to me. It tasted like it came out of a machine. Again, disappointment. read more

I love the idea of the place more than the food. I mean where else can you get salads, sandwiches, foyo, and baked goods in one place?! For lunch we ordered the create your own salads. For the base price you get 4 toppings and dressing. If you want protein it's an additional $2. Making a salad with only 4 add ins is hard but do-able. Each additional topping is 50¢ The salad ingredients were fresh and there was quite a bit of selection. They portions were generous and I had plenty leftover for dinner. Only complaint is the salad wasn't anything special. It also wasn't mixed properly so some parts of the salad had way too much dressing. The salad was the same as something I could make at home. The ordering bar is also disorganized. You can't see all the ingredients at once while you are going down the line. So you max out your 4 picks and then you see that they have a lot more choices down the bar. And honestly for $12 a salad, i expected at least a wow. read more

My new favorite lunch place in McLean. I love all the fresh and healthy choices for a salad. The pesto vinaigrette dressing is amazing. Best salad dressing I've ever had. My husband loves all the sandwiches, especially the Koo Koo Roo - melted sandwich on the most delicious freshly baked bread. Freshest sandwich I have ever tasted in my life!!! A friend of mine introduced me to Sweet Leaf. As you can see, they have the most freshest ingredients you can possibly find in any sandwich shop. Even the employees were wearing "Straight Outta Farm, " and they were darn right about that. Their price is very reasonable and the portion is pretty decent. I personally recommend San Remo with extra bacon. Trust me. That extra bacon is definitely worth it. Can't wait to try more of their food in the future. Thanks, Sweet Leaf.
