This is a cheerful and comfortable place to walk into on a winter evening. For an American, you see the word "Maya" and you can be forgiven for thinking you are walking into a restaurant that serves tequila and tostadas. This place is Turkish! We were seated at a window table near the bar. The bar is well stocked, so my friend had a Moscow Mule or perhaps here we should call it an Ankara Ass :-) I went with a classic Negroni. Both were perfect. We started with the fried brussels sprouts, and some Turkish bread with olive tapenade Fried brussels sprouts came out very tasty with that bright shade of green that you know will taste good. Great flavor. My friend had something vegetarian with bulgar pilaf for his course and I went with the lamb chops with rice pilav. The lamb chops were a little small, but with today's inflation, it was all right. The perfect amount of food. To accompany our entrees we each had a glass of Turkish Angora wine. Coming from California I was a little snobby, but it is quite good. I was worried it might be like retsina but it's nothing like that. Well worth having a second glass. For dessert, my friend had the rice pudding and I had the dried apricots with caramel drizzle. Really good desserts! Really great service! Managed the table well and pleased to answer questions.

Always a pleasure to eat here. While they only have a small (free) parking lot, I've never had an issue getting parked. The staff are friendly and attentive, with a relaxing casual setting appropriate for family and friends. The menu is wide enough to satisfy just about anyone, and the food is great. On my last visit, we started out with the Maya trio, ordering the hummus, baba ganoush, and patlican kozleme (one of my favorites). For my main meal I opted to try the baked zucchini. It's good, but I have other favorites I tend to drift to. My wife had the manti (which I always enjoy) and son had the sucuk (although I love the lamacun). We finished the meal off with knefe, a MUST TRY.

Really wish I could give Maya Bistro 5 stars! The service was great and the food was tasty. We started with the mezze trio and enjoyed it. I ordered the chicken shish platter with veggies and was wowed by the amount of veggies! The chicken had great flavor, but some of the pieces came out undercooked with a little pink in the middle (I ate it anyway and regretted it the next day). My husband enjoyed the Manti but didn't love the sauce. My companions both ordered the Kunefe, which we needed to wait 10 minutes for. Both dishes came out warm and tasted incredible! I ordered the baklava and enjoyed it, but would have preferred if it would have been served warm, especially as we were waiting on the other desserts. The flatbreads look incredible and if we return we will give them a try. I got great vibes from the staff, and will likely try them again in the future.

I am back in Arlington for a few days from Colorado, and maya was one of the two places after YEARS where I was like DAMN I have to stop here before I leave. Just grabbed dinner here with my mom-- and the food is just so incredibly technically executed. Unlike other restaurants out there, maya bistro is consistent AND delicious. The grilled calamari is truly still to this day some of the most tender calamari dishes I've had. The protein is always cooked so well with great flavor. The wine ...the rice pudding and baklava?! You can taste the love in the food crafted by this family owned restaurant in every bite. Need a date night spot that is local-- please come here. I'm jealous that arlingtonians have a place like this so delicious AND local.

So good! Definitely recommend!! My family and I came, we were about 10 people in total. And the service was great, the restaurant itself seems clean and the food was amazing. We will be coming back.

My husband and I are both Turkish, so I decided to find a Turkish restaurant while we were visiting DC to enjoy for his birthday. The original restaurants I picked did not serve döner on the day we wanted to go, so I had to find a place that served his second favorite- Mantı. I was in it solely for the Pide, especially as a vegetarian. I also ordered the fried cauliflower with cacık (yogurt sauce) instead of tahini... and it was wonderful! In fact, I thought MY food was so good, that I ordered it for delivery again the next night! My husband and I both agreed that we didn't care too much for the lahmacun, (yes, the vegetarian tried a BITE because I had to... It's in my blood.) but the Pide was baked perfectly. I could taste a hint of feta or a sharp cheese inside, but just enough to add the perfect amount of flavor! Dining in was a calm atmosphere, but my husband and I were dealing with a few family issues at the time so our visit was cut short. I wish it wouldn't have been, because I wanted to stick around for coffee and dessert! I did manage to order Künefe to go, and it was really good too. Not the first restaurant I had in mind, but definitely a cute little hidden gem. Go support this small business, solely for the Pide!

Not sure how it's taken me this long to leave a review but I LOVE this place. I haven't gotten anything there that I didn't like. Zucchini cakes, dips, maya cigars, salads, flatbreads, kofta, baklava I really do mean everything there is good. The staff is beyond friendly and the restaurant is generally pretty empty. I think the prices are reasonable for Turkish food but might be on the pricer side. But I'd pay whatever price for this food. Best Turkish place in the area for sure!

Simply perfection! Family owned and run -- and food that is supreme! Every ingredient is treated with respect and presented so beautifully. Did lunch today - spinach pie for me and calamari for my guest. Everything was just so fabulous. Got two spinach flatbreads to go because they freeze so well (cut them into bite size pieces and freeze in layers between parchment paper -- reheat in oven and serve!)

I had heard many great things about this restaurant. I knew the prices were higher, but I came here for a special occasion expecting all the food to be excellent. It was only pretty good with one dish that seemed well above average. The trio of three dips was fine with only the ezme dip having real flavor in comparison to the cacik and the htipiti ones. While the Shepherd salad was fine, the tomatoes didn't have much flavor at all. On the other hand, the red lentil soup was amazing. The lamb kabob was very dry and overcooked despite the good flavor of the spice. The other dish I would get again besides the soup is the maya cigars which were outstanding. The peynirli flatbread was also pretty good. For the price, though, I could have gotten a more delicious meal at another Turkish restaurant in the area.

Authentic Turkish family-run restaurant bursting with flavor. The synergy and close-knit family dynamic is truly impressive. Everyone pitches in from the siblings servers who double up as bartenders to the father in chief hosting and managing the restaurant, while the mom/aunts/uncles preserve their secret family recipes and pepper in the spices in the kitchen. The complementary pillowy soft Turkish bread similar to focaccia is divine! We devoured the the entire loaf and got another round! The Maya Mezze for 2 is a fun sampler of Turkish dishes with a platter of hummus, eggplant-based Patlican Kozleme, Htipiti red pepper & feta dip, falafel, Turkish cigars stuffed with feta cheese, and Bamya okra (substituted them over Dolmas). Of all the mini apps, the hummus, cheesy Turkish cigars, and crispy and tender falafel with perfect consistency without being dry or oily were my favorite. Highly recommend trying the Mezze! The crispy Zucchini Cake were tasty and fun to try! The Spanokopita with lots of layers of phyllo dough and stuffed with spinach and feta was quite filling. Our server was super nice and gave us Baklava on the house! Although we were stuffed to the brim, we thoroughly enjoyed all the crispy layers of phyllo dough and walnuts coated with honey and sprinkled with crunchy pistachio crumbs. We polished off a clean plate, there wasn't a morsel to spare! My hubby enjoyed his foamy cappuccino. A sweet ending to a delicious savory meal! Although there's no outdoor seating, there's plenty of seating inside. Looking forward to coming back and exploring the rest of the menu!

Let me start with the good because there is a lot of it. The place is spotless. Like, noticeably clean. The atmosphere is warm, modern, and inviting, the kind of place you actually want to sit and enjoy your food instead of rushing out. The guy who took our order was genuinely kind, patient, and welcoming, which always sets the tone for the whole experience. Now the food. This is where things get a little adventurous. My son ordered the chicken pita and it came with ketchup on it. Ketchup. On a Lebanese pita. That was a first for me. I have eaten a lot of Lebanese food and ketchup has never once made an appearance on the menu, let alone on the sandwich. It was not bad, just unexpected and a little confusing. I had the chicken shawarma bowl, which was solid, but the garlic paste on the side was different than what I am used to. Again, not terrible, just not traditional. I found myself wishing there were more classic Lebanese sauce options available. A little toum variety or something more familiar would have really elevated it. That said, everything tasted fresh, the portions were good, and nothing felt careless. It just felt like a modern remix rather than an authentic throwback. And now, the wildcard. The giant chocolate chip cookie. Absolutely amazing. Warm, gooey, and worth every bite. Honestly, that cookie almost pushed me to a 4.5, but the app would not let me live my truth. Overall, this is a strong 4-star experience. Clean, friendly, great vibe, and good food with a creative twist, even if it strays from traditional Lebanese flavors. If you are looking for comfort, atmosphere, and a killer cookie, this place delivers. If you are a Lebanese food purist, just know you are boarding a slightly re-routed magic carpet.

They pride themselves as a healthier spot and the food definitely reflected that. We started off with drinks (they only do happy hour at the bar) and got the Mojito and the mediteranean martini. The cauliflower definitely felt more baked then fried and the portion was quite fair. The hot appetizer platter comes with 2 cheese rolls, 2 falafels, and two kibehs. I will say, for $17, I would love perhaps 3-4 of each item instead of just 2 each. The kibeh were super tasty and so were the cheese rolls, but the falafel were a bit dry. For our mains we got the lamb chops and the steak kabob - both were fantastic. Simple flavors but really well done on both ends, with both cuts of meat cooked to order. I will say, I would love a little bit more side veggies- especially for the $45 dollar lamb chops but I assume they expect you to order more sides like we did. Quick service, Arlington prices, a bit cold inside on a cold day. Will definitely be back to try more!

Brussels Sprouts: Brussels sprouts with grapes, walnuts, fig jam, and mint yogurt--a whimsical yet magical combination... The Brussels sprouts offered a fresh, vegetal aroma and a slightly roasted aroma; the walnuts provided a nutty richness and crunch; the fruit provided a fresh sweet and sour taste and plenty of juice; and the yogurt acted as a binder between the flavors while adding a touch of minty coolness. Duck Shawarma: My friend and I thought: ...Peking duck? The skin was soft, the meat tender, not gamey, with a subtle smoky flavor; the fig and lemon sauce was sweet and refreshing; the small pita pillows held the meat securely, better than the lettuce what might have been too cold. Lamb Stuffed Grape Leaves: Black rice was wrapped in grape leaves and simmered with minced lamb. The rice absorbed the fragrance of the grape leaves, similar to lotus leaves (my friend and I thought: lamb version of sticky rice chicken糯米雞...?). The lamb, however, was served separately at the bottom of the pot and didn't absorb much flavor; overall, it was intensely sour. In short, this dish was a bit oddly designed, and it was the only one we didn't finish because the sourness was unbearable. Pita Bread: The bread was thin yet chewy, with a rough, slightly powdery surface, making it substantial and satisfying. I especially loved the "everything wrapped in a big pancake" style! The Spanish cheese (Mahón) along with the crackers and mustard sauce was superb. All the meats had their own characteristics and unique flavors but the jamón stood out to us the most. It even went well with the sauce that came for our cauliflower dish. It was fun piecing the components together to make unique tasty bites. I would come back just for the charcuterie alone. The drinks we got were Angelli's Ferrari along with the espresso martini-ish. My favorite was definitely the Ferrari one, but the espresso martini was super mild and had a slight coffee flavor. Good for people who like very light coffee. The Ferrari one was very bright and had lots of fruity notes to hide the alcohol. For entrées, we had the shakshouka, crispy, cauliflower, and brunch pork belly. Out of all these the cauliflower was definitely my favorite; super light with good earthy flavors and nuttiness and acidity from the lemon. The brunch pork belly was good too. The meat was perfectly cooked, but I found the beans to be a little bit overwhelming. I'm not a fan of baked beans personally so that might've been my fault for picking the dish, but I still did enjoy it and the pork that was well cooked made up for it; definitely for someone who likes beans. Shakshouka was very hearty with a lot of tomatoes and red vegetables in general. If you like lasagna or any sort of tomato spaghetti dish, you will like this one. I found this to be a bit much though. I was slightly tired of the flavor at the end. Just be aware it is a bit spicy. We had a pear tart for dessert. Honestly, it reminded me of an apple pie and it was good, but I think that some of the other desserts would've been a bit better. Had a lot of sweet cinnamon notes along some crispy flaky dough from the outside. It was an interesting take but it was still good. The atmosphere is great here; we had seating on the second floor, so it was different from the busy first floor. Very relaxed and there's a lot of natural light coming around which made everything feel very welcoming. Our server was also super friendly. I will definitely be back at this place

They forgot one of our benedicts & when it came out, it looked smaller than the other one. My main issue is that they promote that they have vegan options, but they really do not. The crispy cauliflower is about the only thing that is vegan on the menu. While I do occasionally eat meat, most everything had dairy in it & I have an allergy. We ordered: Crispy cauliflower-- 8/10 Spanish Benedict-- 9/10 Steak & Eggs-- 6/10 Lamb Hummus-- 10/10 Mimosa-- yum! Espresso Martini-- 8/10 Passionfruit Gin-- 8/10
