Russian honey cake
Charlie S.

Great meal; came for restaurant week. Started with meat pirozki, then manti and the Russian honey cake. The meat pirozki was soft and flaky and delicious inside. Herb mix is savory. Manti is also quite nice. The presentation is interesting for a dumpling, coming from the Chinese style and seeing a different style. The Russian honey cake is basically a graham cracker in terms of flavors: it's the honey. Subtle sweetness that isn't cloying and overpowering. Service was excellent and attentive. Wife ordered samsa, plov and sour cherry cake. Samsa might've been better than my pirozkhi. The plov was a bit dry but still good. Sour cherry cake as described. Also got a ten percent coupon for the market inside. Check it out!

Good food and service! The fish salad is a little not familiar haha so next time would try a different salad. Soup was very good.

This restaurant serves a taste of Russian you can't find anywhere else in the DMV. If you just want to try a different cuisine, then look no futher. The staff is so helpful and will walk you through the menu to help you understand what you will be eating. But don't fret because everything on the menu is delicious. My favorite were the Samsa and the Lamb Kebabs and my pot of hot tea. I can't forget the after dinner shot of Russian flavored vodka. This place will quickly become a favorite. So enjoy each dish and post some pics for me to try a new dish

My second time at Zeus Uz, where the first time we came for drinks (white Russians) and a snack, but this time for an actual sit down meal. Still had some drinks to go with food, and my fav is going next door afterwards to buy a few bottles of wine and snacks home. What I like about this restaurant is how ethnically it's decorated, how it has plenty of outdoor seating, and how pleasantly quiet it is inside. Oh and the bar, a full bar. Thanks to the decor, even though each time I've come the restaurant has been pretty empty, it doesn't feel desolate. Instead, I've found it to be a great quiet place to meet up for conversation or for a date. I found the food alright. I have had Russian food in various Russian restaurants in different countries, and little Russia in LA so I want to say that this was not the best. I think of Russian food as very rich, which this definitely is, but I think they're overcharging for food that isn't particularly fresh. Given how empty the restaurant is, I can't imagine how they could keep business going with fresh food all the time, but cutting corners does reflect in taste--but not in price. A lot of comments here about food being premade and frozen and reheated...but to call it fine dining and charge $20-40 a plate? Oof. Would come back for the White Russians though :)

This place is a hidden gym next to the Hoffman theater. The environment is classy and elegant. The service is friendly and spectacular. The food was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. I highly recommend this taste of European dinning! As a bonus treat yourself to the fare in the gift shop.

This was my first visit to Russian cuisine and I liked the atmosphere and services. There were lots of beef options that looked delicious but unfortunately, I don't eat beef. I was recommended to try the lamb the next visit which I will do the next time I am in the area. Overall great experience

Russian-Uzbek restaurant with extremely authentic and delicious food! Large portions at a very reasonable price! I tried the borscht and a perogi-esk dish, and both were delicious! The servers weren't the most friendly however, and they did not bring my table the complimentary bread basket (which all of the other tables got) The menu is pretty straightforward Have a huge selection of flavored vodka's Very authentic Russian-Uzbek market right next door

Fish Under Coat

It's very pretty inside despite the ordinary looking exterior! The service was really good too. They have a huge selection of flavored vodka!!!! I particularly liked apricot. The "fish under coat" (I've seen it called herring in a fur coat at other places) was so delicious. The potato pastry was pretty good too. My friend loved her salmon. I wish dc had more Russian food, but I will continue traveling here for now.

Goluptsi, Chicken Kiev and Borsch

Super delicious and filling. Really good portion sizes and both the Borsch and Golubtsi had more meat than I expected. My takeout order was super easy to pick up and I will definitely be coming back to try more.

The stuffed cabbage rolls were super flavorful and good! Tried my friends meat dish and it was kinda dry and chewy but this did what it needed to do (a lil on the pricey side tho)

Chicken Kiev and Fish Under Coat
Volodymyr P.

The biggest concern was the food. It was very bad. The Chicken Kiev was tasteless and very oily. The meat did not taste good; it seemed like it had been fried, then refrigerated and fried again. Even the vegetables that came with the Chicken Kiev were soaked in oil. The fish under the coat tasted strange; I suspect the fish was spoiled. The service was ok. The girl waiter seemed unhappy.

I'm not sure how busy this restaurant usually gets but we easily were able to get a seat without a reservation on a Friday night. We arrived for an early dinner and the place was empty but it did start to slowly fill up throughout the course of our meal. The ambiance is very relaxing and the decor gave the whole place a warm yet polished feel. The plateware was simple and elegant, and I was glad we were dressed up. Rus Uz is definitely a fancier restaurant. While I've had better Russian food, I wouldn't mind trying this restaurant again! One final note, the servings seembsmall but after sharing an appetizer and soup my partner and I were both pretty full. I don't know if it was due to our eating habits of the day or due to the fact that the dishes are just very filling, but be careful not to over order when you go. What we got: Complimentary small basket of bread and what I believe is soft cheese - 4* the bread is fantastic warm but I always like the first piece more than the second piece after it's had a chance to cool down. I really liked that I believe was a soft cheese, my partner did not. Bilini - 4* the pancake was cooked very well. The meat was good and a new experience for both of us. I wished there was a bit more flavor. Borscht - 3.5* it wasn't as flavorful as other versions I've had but I did enjoy how soft the meat.was (except, ironically, for the piece I saved for last). Manti (Uzbek dumplings) - 3.5* this was.good but by the time it arrived we were both pretty full. I look forward to having it as leftovers.

Chicken Kiev

It was my first time trying Russian/Ukrainian cuisine and it was a great experience. For the table, we got the fish under coat, samsa and pirozhki (potato). I really enjoyed the pirozhki as it was nice and light. The samsa was also good. The table either liked or didn't like the fish under coat; it was definitely different and interesting. I got the chicken kiev and my partner got the plov. The chicken itself was very good with the right amount of breading. The sauce was ranch which was interesting but it worked. Rice and steamed veggies were ok, wished the veggies were at least more flavored. The plov was good and the rice was flavorful. Service was good, but not very attentive. They never came to refill our waters until we asked as several of us had it empty for awhile. I would rate it a 3.75/5, rounding it up to a 4/5.

They serve a plate table-side with a naked crispy chicken cutlet and your pasta and then they pour à la vodka sauce with melted cheese over the chicken. It's really a terrific presentation and the dish is nicely presented. The chicken cutlet was thick and juicy, the crust was crispy and the sauce was thick and delicious. My first impression of Ser was its ambiance - nice mood lighting, comfy seats, and just the right amount of ambient noise. We had a reservation (recommended!) and were quickly ushered to our seats and given menus. The waiter was courteous, prompt (always re-filling our water glasses), and helpful when we had questions about the menu (e.g., about which wine he preferred). This was our first (but not last) time visiting Ser, and our initial foray into the menu was pretty basic. My wife and I split the jarrete de cordero (lamb shank), three tapas dishes (croquetas, pan Catalana, and berenjenas [fried eggplant]), and two cheeses. My wife's favorite tapas was the pan catalana, which was bright and slightly salty/sweet in flavor with great texture in the balance between the crispness of the bread and the softness of the tomato. I preferred the croquetas, each of which coated my mouth with the warmth of hot cheese and rich meat. The lamb shank consisted of a massive piece of meat on the bone, resting on a bad of mashed potatoes and slices of sweet peppers. The lamb itself was what it should be: thick, tender, and juicy with a rich, slightly gamey flavor. The addition of the mash and peppers made it even better, and I can say that this is the first time that I actually enjoyed peppers - before I just tolerated them, even in my own cooking. These peppers paired perfectly with the mash and lamb, and I relished every bite. I would be tempted to order this same thing again on our next visit, but I have to know what the meat paella is like. Anyway, it all paired perfectly with the Spanish tempranillo (that our waiter helped me select). I would be remiss if I did not talk about our to-go box. The lamb was too much for us (and by "us", I mean my wife, who was not up to the task of eating her share of the main course), and we asked for this to be boxed to take home with us. And I was blown away when the remains of our dinner were brought back to us already deboned (but with the bone included). I found this to be above and beyond, as I was not looking forward to cutting that meat off the bone (to put in my next day's lunch, which was glorious), not the least because I am not very good at doing this. And that we still got the lamb bone meant either stock for a stew or sharing a treat with our four-legged housemate. We really appreciated this!

The service we received from her was by far the best service I have received in a very long time here in the DMV. I actually stopped dining out as much as I used to because service has declined over the past few years sadly to say. She was patient, made suggestions on some tasty meals but most importantly, had a great personality that you can tell is authentic & genuine which made a simple girls brunch that much more memorable. Now as the food.....I'll just say this, DELICIOUS! My friends and I shared different items on the menu for brunch from hors d'oeuvres to main course down to dessert. When I say EVERYTHING was super tasty I seriously mean it. We had the mussels, pasta, sea bass, and more in which the chef made each platter with a unique twist for each. All this to say is you must try this cafe. I had to write this review because it truly deserves a 5+ star for its meals/drinks, ambiance but to me most importantly the service. If you are lucky enough to have Bailey, I promise she won't disappoint you. Thank you for the wonderful experience and food

For starters, we had the Salad Maison and the La Cachat, which was very appetizing. My friend had the Potato Crusted Salmon, which was my favorite dish that we ordered. It was cooked and flavored perfectly for my taste buds. Another dish that a guest from our party had was sea bass (Loup De Mar), which I also enjoyed. This dish also was big in portion size. My dish was the Steak Frites which was cooked medium, however, it wasn't as juicy or flavorful as I desired. I also took the opportunity to try the Ridoir which was strong yet tasty. Overall, we had a great experience.

When we walked in, we thought it was gonna be packed because there were no reservations on OpenTable however they were able to see us right away. A very nice touch to add a stem of Rose for the women. I would say that I gave it a lower star rating not because the food was bad. It was actually delicious, but probably the experience itself. The restaurant felt chaotic, and even though all the tables were not completely packed of course there were flowers everywhere people gathering with grandmother's mother's children, etc We were seated in a two people table and all the top past dishes started to pile up very quickly. Instead of monitoring, the progress of the finished dishes and removing those dishes due to space constraint, the dishes came from the kitchen, almost on top of one another, and at one point I had to hold a dish in my hand in order to make space to put a dish on top of another flatbread pan/dish, making things super chaotic. Also dishes had to be put on top of the menu because in order to order additional food, you need to leave at least one copy of the menu at the table. Overall, again the flavors and taste were good, though I might have had similar dishes from other places, and my partner commented that some of it is actually very close to the Capital One landing at DCA. I would just say that it was more due to the chaos and just the way that all the dishes piled up on top of us we felt like we were we had to eat super quickly so that we could stack dishes ourselves and create room at the table. Also, when serving the dishes were not kept level and basically was slide to the side of the dish, making presentation off
