It's a bit like Cheers, but for wine. We've been here a couple of times and even joined their Wine Club. Both times we've gone, it was during their happy hour, which runs until 7 pm, and we stuck to the special menu. Those have included their Charcuterie Board (something that contributed to Dr. Oz not being a senator), crispy Brussels sprouts, their Margarita flatbread, chicken skewers, and truffle fries. Don't hate us; that was spread over two visits. Everything tasted great, though next time I think we'll graduate to the real menu. The wines we've tried so far were either inexpensive or not bad. For inexpensive, I've had glasses of their $3 Tempranillo. While it wasn't great, I've paid a lot re for much worse. For "not bad", my wife had the $10 Buehler Cab. I moved to Arlington a few months ago and I'm trying to hit up every local spot in each neighbor. A few weeks ago I decided to stop by Verre Wine Bar. There's two parking garages nearby and street parking. It's also walking distance from the Courthouse Metro stop. I sat at the bartop and my server was named Julia and she was so friendly! I asked her a bit about the menu and I ordered this drink that was kinda like a whiskey sour but I'm blanking on the name. The interior of Verre was nice. I found this spot when they hosted an event to try three different wines paired with bites to eat. As it turns out the wine and the food was actually really good. I was pleasantly surprised by the food, especially a chicken thigh that was cooked to absolute perfection. This event gave me exposure to this restaurant and now I've been back on multiple occasions. Most recently, I tried their short ribs with braised collard greens and whipped mashed potatoes. 10 out of 10 wine choices also 10 out of 10 they have a membership program that you can be a part of that gives you 10% off on food and gives you a bottle of wine per month I think it's $34. But if you would become a frequent person of this location, you should definitely look into it. I definitely am parking over here is a little challenging at times but I've been multiple times for happy hour. Haven't necessarily had a problem, but I feel like I'm always favored by the Lord so I look up on parking often but it's not a ton of parking the music on multiple occasions that I've been there is always pretty good they tell me the staff is the reason why so hopefully you get really great staff members that have amazing playlist but it's always a cute little vibe. They have an outdoor area as well. The staff is very nice. Super knowledgeable about everything that's on the menu. The only thing that I was not a fan of I got their apple pie and ice cream it wasn't giving apples. It was giving nothing so I would not get that again, but that was actually a shock to me that it didn't taste that great because everything else was freaking amazing. read more

Was here back in October. It's a really cute spot with fun lighting and menu items. It's a good place for mid sized groups - we had a party of 6 when we went. They had a decent happy hour. The Cheese and Meat plate was really good, as were the brussels sprouts and chicken skewers. We also shared a few of of the main plates as well. My least favorite thing was the margherita flatbread, as I felt it was not as crispy or as thin of a crust as I personally like. The service was efficient and friendly. They were very knowledgeable about the wines they served which I appreciated. Overall, it was a great place to grab a drink after a long day of working and running around in D.C. I will be back there again in October of this year and I'd be curious to see if and how their menu might be updated. read more

This was a cool neighborhood wine bar located in Arlington. It's got a quaint patio, a small bar directly in front of the entrance, and some additional seating in the back, definitely perfect for a date night or smaller gatherings. The staff was super friendly and accommodating even as the rain forced everyone off the patio and inside the bar. They offer lunch, brunch, dinner and happy hour menus, on this occasion I was coming in on a Sunday afternoon and wanted to try a few wines and have a light meal. They offer cheese & charcuterie options, small plates with items like smoked brisket, cucumber salad, chicken empanadas, and Mediterranean chicken skewers, and a few different flatbread options as well (prices ranging from $8-$16). I ordered a glass of rosé and the prosciutto flatbread: the flatbread was solid I'm not usually a huge fig fan but I enjoyed the combination with the balsamic and ricotta cheese and the rosé was excellent: light, flavorful, but not too sweet. The $18 truffle pizza was really just fair, three out of five. The charcuterie board was rather simple and not very big for $25. They do add a fair wage fee to the check FYI. Service was OK. The waitress said there was pecorino on the pizza, which she told me was meat, so I was expecting meat on the pizza. However, I looked this up later after I didn't see meat and this is actually another kind of cheese. Restaurant was small but easy to find seating. Parking was easy nearby. Since my last review, we decided to become wine club members at Verre and continue to visit regularly. Everyone is so friendly and knowledgeable with great recommendations. The mulled wine in winter is a really nice special, and we usually get a flatbread, the fried chicken bites, or parmesan fries to pair with our wines. You can also build your own flight to try more of their extensive menu. The wine club is a great deal if you live in the neighborhood- $25 for a bottle of red or white each month, plus a discount on food and a free tasting with every purchase you make. Great little spot. Tried it for the first time yesterday with a friend and we were very pleasantly surprised at this neighborhood gem. We sat out on the patio and the weather was perfect. The staff could not have been more attentive, courteous, and pleasant. I had several of the small plates, which were all quite tasty. Verre has become a regular place for me. Reservations are super easy to make online. The restaurant communicates well-- I often message to switch from indoor to outdoor seating (or the opposite), and they are quick to respond and so accommodating! Ordering is easy via QR code/website. Easy for large parties. No splitting bills at the end, no waiting for someone to bring you a refill, or for waiting to order until the whole party arrives. Great neighborhood wine bar with good, although limited food. We are also members of their wine club, which is very affordable and also gives you free tastings when you come in. They have some great happy hour deals on flatbreads and charcuterie. We sat outside and had some challenges with the online ordering. I accidentally didn't check out/confirm so we're waiting for 30 minutes. That's mostly user error, but something to pay attention to. No pets on patio. Would love to see them reconsider this rule or whatever permit is required. We eat here occasionally, but would come much more often (1x a week or two) if that rule was changed. Verre was quite lovely. The service was phenomenal! We came in and loved the cozy feel of the place & will definitely return when it's warm enough to use the patio. Happy hour deals were good as well. The only thing lacking was the meat + crackers on the charcuterie board - we didn't eat the selection because the meat came out looking very funky + warm. The crackers are actually just thick, crunchy toast and took away from the taste of the cheese. And fell apart at first bite. I got the happy hour wine and I got the cheeseboard with the brie and fig pizza and actually tried one of my friends truffle pizza . The food and wine were both really good and I felt like it was worth the price for happy hour especially. The service was really good. The food came out really fast. They also were really knowledgeable about the products they had. The ambience was pretty cool. It was kind of like a bar downtown in Arlington. I would definitely recommend it. I don't know if I would come back here. I just typically go to wineries to drink wine but this was one of those things where we just went to happy hour at downtown in the city. This poor place opened at the height of the pandemic and got off, I think, to a rocky start. It was difficult to figure out at first so we didn't go, and we were worried about it, but it survived. We started coming after things normalized a bit. Glad we did. It's really user-friendly and reasonably priced for what you get, with a lot of flexibility and options. So much more seamless and easygoing than the vast majority of comparable places in the DC area. The design/ambiance is a little sterile and out-of-a-box, with standard Millennial trappings - like a pink neon sign against a fake green wall, a fake barnwood accent wall, cafe lights (I think they're trying to go for a garden feel?) - that already look dated. But it's chill. The wines are well-priced and it's a good selection. They let you design your own flight and the QR ordering system is really easy to use, plus the servers are ALSO nice and attentive (usually it's one or the other). I've discovered some new varietals thanks to them and am very happy about it. Also, a legit, lengthy, diverse food menu! And the food really attempts to stand on its own rather than just being obnoxiously overpriced little bites to supplement the wine. The cheese board here is ... dare I say it ... better than the cheese board at my ride or die, Salt, in Rosslyn. Salt's hummus is better, though. The brussels sprouts and other vegetarian options like the fig flatbread are super solid. Fries are good. I got bad feedback, though, on the fried chicken items when I went with a big group of friends. One got wings, the other got a sandwich. Both said the batter was way too salty. That was on the same night, though, so maybe it was a bad batch. Not in their wine club (yet) because I'm already in one at a vineyard, but it looks like a pretty good deal and am considering it despite already having too much wine at home as it is. I'd say it's a 4.5. Tempted to give a 5 because it is just such an easy and affordable place to get wine and decent food. There's something about it that's not quite there - maybe it's just that it's an easy neighborhood place rather than some remarkable showstopper. Maybe that shouldn't matter. The food is good but not gourmet. But maybe after a few more trips I'll be updating to a 5, who knows. read more

Unfortunately, they try to push you to do orders through QR codes but if you ask nicely you can get good service and order directly through the ladies working there. With such a competitive environment, why any service business structurally sets up a way to distance themselves from their clients like that is beyond me. On top of that, look out for the 10% "fair wages" fee that's added surreptitiously to your bill. Overall leave with mixed feelings on your experience there. read more
