Have been seeing this place on social media and decided to give it a try. We had a reservation at 5:30 but the place wasn't too crowded and got seated in a booth towards the back. The music and overall ambiance felt classy and inviting but not overly formal. Cocktail menu is extensive and the espresso martini was delicious. They only had two mocktail options so I asked if they could make me a virgin mojito and they were able to! Food was delicious as well, the focaccia is perfect, crunchy and soft on the inside. They also know their pasta, it was perfectly al denta and delicious. My only complaint is that for the $24 price point on the pasta, I was expecting a larger portion but it was closer to an appetizer size. Y'all... Altitude absolutely exceeded every expectation. I came here for a girls dinner not really knowing what to expect. It's still pretty new and doesn't have a ton of reviews yet, but the speakeasy vibe and cozy atmosphere immediately pulled me in. From the second we walked in, it just felt like one of those places you want to stay all night. We started with two different French 75s and they were perfect. Great pours, balanced drinks, and exactly how a cocktail should be made. For starters, we ordered the focaccia with two spreads. One reminded me of a roasted red pepper spread and the other had this sweet, jam-like flavor. I honestly wasn't expecting to love it as much as I did, but we were in heaven. Easily a 10/10. We also shared the meatballs, which came with three perfectly cooked meatballs topped with crispy breadcrumbs. Another dish that didn't miss. For my entrée, I ordered the artichoke dish after our server recommended it when I mentioned I wanted something lighter. Artichokes can be hit or miss, but this was one of the best dishes I've had in a while. Between the artichokes and the crispy kale, I kept saying "wow" after every bite. My friend ordered the Spaghetti alla Chitarra and loved every bite of hers too. Our server was amazing. I wish I could remember her name. It reminded me of a type of wine. She was so bubbly, attentive, and genuinely made the experience even better. The bartender also made us another variation of a French 75 that was a little stronger, and it was fantastic. The atmosphere deserves its own paragraph. It's intimate, cozy, grown and sexy, and perfect for either date night or catching up with your girls. My friend and I ended up sitting there for almost three hours without realizing it because we were having such a great time. Even the bathrooms deserve a shoutout. They're located down the hall since the restaurant shares the building, but the lighting was amazing (yes, the mirror passed the test), and the whole setup somehow made the experience feel even more private and tucked away. I also loved how easy parking was. There's a garage directly underneath the building, so you can park, take the elevator up, and you're basically at the restaurant. The only thing I didn't get to explore was the listening room. I'm definitely curious what happens in there because it looked like such a cool space. If anyone knows whether they play records or host live music, let me know because I'll absolutely be back to check it out. It's rare to find a restaurant that nails the food, drinks, service, atmosphere, and overall experience all at once. Altitude managed to do exactly that. This is a very interesting new spot that bills itself as a listening room and wine bar. As a music aficionado, it immediately caught my attention, and it seemed like the perfect place for my husband and me to try since we both love music and my husband is also an aviation enthusiast. The marketing surrounding the space hinted at an aviation theme, though I'd describe it as a fairly loose interpretation. There are subtle nods to aviation throughout the venue, but fellow aviation nerds shouldn't expect an overwhelming amount of aircraft-inspired décor. The layout is unique and can feel a bit tight in some areas. This is definitely an intimate space that seems designed for couples or small groups rather than large gatherings, which suited us perfectly. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the maître d', who gave us a brief introduction to the concept. He explained that guests could browse the vinyl collection and even suggest albums to be played throughout the evening, which was a thoughtful and interactive touch. Once seated, we were greeted by our server, who was pleasant and reasonably knowledgeable about the menu. Since the restaurant had only been open for three days, a few growing pains were understandable. One thing I noticed was that we were initially given only the drink menu and not the food menu. Multiple tables around us had to request the food menu as well. If that isn't already standard practice, I'd recommend providing both menus at the same time. To start, we ordered the bread service, which came with an interesting honey-like spread that we both enjoyed. We also ordered the meatballs, which were phenomenal and had us excited for our entrées. Service moved at a comfortable pace, and both the food and drinks arrived within a reasonable amount of time. For our entrées, I ordered the spaghetti while my husband chose the rabbit dish. Both were excellent, fresh, and clearly made to order. The handmade pasta was especially noticeable. Given that many wine bars tend to focus primarily on small plates and light bites, it was refreshing to find a menu offering substantial, satisfying entrées. It was an unexpected highlight of the evening. The music naturally shifts in mood throughout the night based on the selected records, but the vinyl collection is impressive. I would love to see more soul, jazz, and hip-hop albums added to the collection, as those genres create particularly strong listening-room vibes and really complement the atmosphere. The staff also appears to curate the flow thoughtfully, ensuring the music remains cohesive throughout the evening. Overall, we would absolutely return. This is a great spot for date night, meaningful conversation, or simply slowing down and enjoying good food, wine, and music. For a concept that is self-described as a listening room, it successfully delivers an experience that feels both unique and intentional. read more

Found this place via Instagram post and it did not disappoint. It is absolutely gorgeous inside, and I definitely didn't feel like I was in northern VA. My friend and I stopped by for drinks prior to a birthday celebration and ordered light but we will for sure be back to try their other menu items. We sat at the bar as reservations were full for the evening and walked right in. The Focaccia Bread Service we had was mm mmm mmm! We ordered all 3 of the spreads (my favs were the whipped ricotta and lemon, black pepper as well as the extra virgin olive oil and black balsamic). Pics speaks for themselves. read more

My wife and I came here with two friends last night and had the most absolutely amazing experience. Raul took such great care of us. He walked us through one of the best cocktail lists I have ever seen anywhere. The service was five stars, and so was the atmosphere. We were lucky enough to get four comfortable lounge chairs arranged in a living room style seating area toward the back of the restaurant. The sound system is also audiophile level quality. The music was energizing without being distracting. The space overall has sophisticated and calming decor and lighting. This place could easily go toe to toe with some of the best restaurants and cocktail lounges in Manhattan or D.C. I can't believe this is in Crystal City. Just, wow. read more
