Short rib grilled cheese
Alanna P.

Came here on a Thursday night and we did not need a reservation. Lots of good sandwich options- we tried the burra della, short rib grilled cheese, and netties melt all of which were solid options. The free popcorn was also a fun touch. There was $6 draft prosecco which we loved and everything was a decent price. Happy hour ends at 6. Obe complaint is that everything echoed so it was so loud. Our waitress also never gave us a receipt or copy of the bill which made splitting the bill afterwards difficult

Eggs in Purgatory

The food was expensive and really only okay. My poached eggs were very overcooked. The server did not greet us, did not check on us and was very rude the few times that we did interact. He was perfectly cordial to others but treated us with open hostility to the point that other patrons noticed. We were honestly taken aback by how we were treated and will not be returning.

Chicken Cutlet Caesar Salad
Allison F.

Came here for the chicken cutlet Caesar salad salad and it did not disappoint! First of all the size of the chicken cutlet is massive with a heaping mound of lettuce on top! For the price this meal will definitely fill you up and it is a good meal to split along with an appetizer. Service was good and quick flavor was good in the food. The salad could've used a little less dressing but I think that's a personal preference more than the restaurant. I would definitely come back here to try other menu items.

Hot honey pepperoni pizza

Came for lunch when it was noticeably not busy and had the worst service. Took half an hour just for someone to greet us and bring us water. Water was asked for at least 3 times. 2 people at the table asked for coffee, both were brought just a cup of black coffee with no sugar or milk, when they asked for it, were brought just a full cup of milk. One of these coffees came probably 15 minutes after repeatedly asking for it. Food came, and we asked for extra napkins which we never received. My boyfriend ordered the tavern breakfast which involves 2 choices (eggs, meat) and he wasn't asked what he wanted, or given an opportunity to tell him so that was a total surprise when it came. I got a side of fries that ended up having a huge hair in it. Boyfriend had to ask for hot sauce probably 3 times before some came. All around terrible experience - won't be coming back.

Beer Brined Wings

We came here for the Super Bowl $1 wing special! We got there right before the special started at 6pm and were seated/served quickly. The fries were delicious and you could taste the beef tallow! Wings were also good, and plenty of sauce. Giving 4 stars just because both the wings and fries didn't come out hot (probably due to prepping for superbowl rush).

Solidly OK. Paid about $160 (with tip) for four beers, four entrees, and two appetizers. Ordered the beef tallow fries, the venison meatballs, Sam's seasonal (Oktoberfest), and a patty melt with a side salad. The tomato sauce is real sweet, you get two meatballs and three small slices of bread. I was excited about the venison and it was moist and well constructed. The basket of fries was loaded, but they were fairly limp with lots of potato skin. The patty melt was the major disappointment - super dry, no sauce, and not very melty for a patty melt. Thousand Island or the like was nowhere to be found... It was thinly smashed beef, lots of onions, and cheese on sourdough bread. I'm all for supporting a purist, but it was uncomfortably dry and bland. Really wish I had sauce. Other orders included the pepperoni flatbread, chicken parm sando (could've benefited from more sauce), and the grilled cheese which came with au jus. The beers were good and the pours were generous. Staff was attentive and kind. Lots of country music and football on the screens. It's an awesome spot with a great location, I just wish the food was better. I plan to try again, but might only come for drink specials. $5 for a bucket of 5 beers on Mondays? Sounds amazing

$5 drafts for happy hour
Zarin B.

Really friendly sweet service from Candy!! My friend spilled an entire beer on herself by accident and they were really nice about it - refilled it, checked on her, switched our tables. Their happy hour deals are great. We took advantage of the $5 pepperoni rolls and $5 draft beers (before 6pm). There was a little confusion about the prices of it at first, so the server had to check with the manager - but they figured it out in the end. The pepperoni rolls are a must get! Especially for $5. They're super yummy and quite filling. The marinara it came with was also delish. After 6pm we ordered a $5 bucket of bud lites - it came with 5 cans in it! That's a Monday only deal. We also tried their tallow fries which came with a yummy truffle aioli. And we loved their complimentary popcorn. All in all, a cute space! I would come back for a full dinner and for the other daily deals.

Short Rib Grilled Cheese
Ally R.

Aaron our server was wonderful and attentive. The Ginger Jar margarita is nothing special and tastes like a cheap sour mix. However, the food was absolutely delicious - pepperoni rolls are a must try! They are perfect for two people to share. The short rib grilled cheese was also delicious and a large portion. We also tried the $5 burger deal and that is one of the best deals I have seen in the Arlington area. Large burgers with all of the fixings and fries on the side. My advice would be to put the same effort into the cocktails as you put into the food - or shorten the list of "signature cocktails" and focus on quality over quantity. Also some areas of the restaurant felt like the WV vibe, but others are just plain, sterile, and feel like no effort was put in to make the space cohesive.

Short Rib Grilled Cheese

I've stopped here a couple times now to split a quick dinner with friends and have been impressed by our meals both times! The first time I had the short rib grilled cheese which was so delicious, and the second time I had the chicken cutlet Caesar salad. I eat a lot of Caesar salads but this is one of the best I've had! I want to come back on a normal night so I can sit down and get my own meal because I can't say what the service is like yet but I'll definitely be returning. It's a great location and very open inside, great for coming for drinks and dinner with a large group or escaping the crowds at BOE next door.

Baked spaghetti and meatballs

Solid food and very cute decors. We weren't like blown away but for the location and good portions we had a good time. They don't have mocktails though and I personally don't like non-alcoholic beer options

Cool spot! Warm vibes. Great specials throughout the week. Our group agreed that we'd love to have a table on a football weekend and enjoy the food and drinks. Service was great and we went a couple days after opening.

Spicy Vodka Rigatoni
Carly F.

Nettie's Tavern is a total win. The service was super friendly and fast, and the food was even better. The nachos were loaded and delicious (perfect for sharing, though I kind of wanted them all to myself), and the spicy vodka rigatoni was amazing--creamy, flavorful, with just the right amount of heat. Great vibes, great food, great people. Definitely adding this spot to the regular rotation.

We started with mussels in white wine which were terrific, they were clean tasting with a rich and delicious sauce. We had the "viral vodka chicken parm" for our entree. They serve a plate table-side with a naked crispy chicken cutlet and your pasta and then they pour à la vodka sauce with melted cheese over the chicken. It's really a terrific presentation and the dish is nicely presented. The chicken cutlet was thick and juicy, the crust was crispy and the sauce was thick and delicious. The night of our dinner reservation, we asked if there was any way we could shift our reservation up (most of us were super hungry after just doing a yoga class), and they were able to accommodate us! Once we arrived, our server attended to our group with grace and warmth. My friends enjoyed their food, from the pizza to the chicken parmesan to the pasta. I usually eat chicken Alfredo, but tried the shrimp Alfredo and it was delicious! Toward the end of the meal, I was able to choose a complimentary dessert, and went for my server's recommendation, the pistachio cake. As the meal wrapped up, we were stunned when the lights went out (a few of us thought the power went out). However, it was a dramatic transition into me being surprised with cake and song! The cake was layered beautifully, fragrant and fluffy, and not too sweet. I passed it down the table for each of my friends to try, and they all offered words of praise. I'm looking forward to returning when I'm craving traditional Italian food again! Thank you for helping to create a special memory.

A Modo Mio offers many food specials. For example, on Tuesdays, that's when we stopped there for…read moredinner, all their pasta dishes are 1/2 price. However, given that they ranked 32nd among this country's top 50 Pizza restaurants, I had to order a pizza. And I'll get to my pizza after I discuss some other things, because it all plays together. Also, during my visit, I kept drawing comparisons between this place and Pupatella, a local Neapolitan pizza juggernaut. The Big Question to answer is why A Modo Mio got a spot on the Top 50 while Pupatella didn't even make the cut. Access is easy, and parking is good. There are lots of spaces that wrap around the restaurant. That's in contrast to Pupatell, which has limited parking and where I always wind up using the Safeway lot across the street. The restaurant is clean and spacious, with plenty of comfortable seating. It also has a long, well-stocked bar where you can sit to enjoy a beverage or a meal. Pupatella doesn't have any of that. When you arrive, you're greeted by a host who shows you to your seat. A very short while later, a waiter shows up and does all the things waiters do. At Pupatella, you wait in line to place your order, then find an open table. TLDR: Your dining experience, outside of the food, is much more civilized and relaxing at A Modo Mio. The pie that earned their 32 out of 50 ranking was the Sicilia. But I ordered a 12" Casertana because I'm not crazy about eggplant and like sausage. The pie arrived a short while later, piping hot and loaded with sausage. The taste was sublime and delicious. My only complaint was that the basil was added before baking, and I prefer that herb when it's not reduced to ash. So back to The Big Question, is the A Modo Mio pizza *that* much better than Pupatella that it earned a spot amongst the Top 50 while the other one didn't even make the cut? Frankly, it's not. It is good pizza... possibly great pizza. But that's also true of the other place. What sets A Modo Mio apart from that other place, and the answer to the Big Question, is that the criteria for generating the Top 50 list included more than the pizza. It also took into account: - Hospitality and Service - Ambiance - Beverage Program. Beyond the pizza, A Modo Mio has those things in abundance, while the other place pretty much has none. TLDR: Comparing pizzas side by side, the two places are on par. However, if you take into account the entire dining experience, you will be much happier with your pizza here, as opposed to that other place or most other pizza restaurants in the DMV area.

I had the opportunity to have New Year's Eve dinner here and I was able to score a 7:30 PM…read morereservation using the Rezi app several weeks ago. There's so much parking in this area and they have indoor and outdoor seating. One of the things I really liked is that they seem to have specials three or four days a week if I remember correctly, I think Mondays are half off wine bottles. Tuesdays are 30% off the menu or maybe that was happy hour Monday through Friday and then Wednesdays is half off pizzas and then Thursdays was a sale on cocktails. One of the disappointing things right off the bat was that they took my 7:30 PM reservation and even texted me at 7 PM to make sure I was still coming at 7:30 but nobody ever mentioned that they would close the kitchen promptly at 8 PM, which meant my New Year's Eve dinner was extremely rushed. By 745 I already had to put in my drinks, appetizer, entrées, and desserts. Had I known that they were going to close the kitchen at 8 PM I either would have gone to another place or asked to change my reservation for an earlier time. At 8 PM most of the restaurant was empty, but they still had about four tables, including ours still filled along with two or three folks at the bar. Another thing to note is that they will automatically add 20% gratuity to your bill so please keep that in mind. As far as the food goes, I will say that the pizzas were really good and a small pizza comes with four big slices and a large pizza comes with eight big slices. Personally, I really enjoyed the dough and it was very flavorful, but slightly undercooked. They are known for their Neapolitan style pizzas, and it really shine through. I also got the opportunity to try the lasagna Bolognese, which came sizzling and what seemed to be a mini cast-iron pot. It was evident that this was pre-cooked though and reheated in this pot/pan but what was disappointing was that the bottom layers were sizzling hot but the top layers were room temperature and unfortunately, since the kitchen was closed, I didn't have the opportunity to get that taken care of. I would definitely come back and give them a shot especially because they have weekly deals, but it was truly a disappointment that they took a 730 reservation weeks ago, knowing that they intended on closing at 8 PM. As we were leaving, we got the opportunity to meet one of the restaurant partners and they were so kind; it's evident that this restaurant has regulars and I look forward to my next visit and seeing what it's like when I have more time to eat and enjoy.

When we were finally seated, we told the waitress at the top of the night that we had a gluten intolerance in our group.
