Parking was PERFECT. public parking garage underneath, and the elevator in the corner takes you up right to the front door of the restaurant. Could not ask for a better parking situation. Ordering was almost seamless. We got there at 1 o'clock, middle of the day on 4/18, plenty of empty tables. We went up to the bartender to take our order, and then gave them our table number and they delivered it. The QR code on the table only shows you the menu. It is not used for ordering, which was odd these days. Chill and super awesome bartender with the mother of all hickeys. Good pours. No Skrewball :-( I had the special, two hot dogs with tater tots. When it said double, I wasn't sure if that meant double the tater tots, but that meant actually two hot dogs. Really good. I also had the other special, the two pancakes. I meant to get the sausage, but they gave me the bacon instead. It was great. Well worth it. I thought that was the better value of the meals. They got a lot of board and card games. Very laid-back atmosphere, 90s and early 2000s pop on the music, comfortable seating, and good food. The prices were reasonable. This is one area that I think we are just going to have to deal with for quite some time. The give-and-take of prices,. Smothered tater tots, pancakes, two hotdogs with some tater tots, and three drinks came out to ~$55. NOT. BAD. Was it worth it? If this had been just a normal restaurant, I would've said no. It would've been more worth it if it had been about $40. But... nobody made us pay to use the board games, or the card games, and we sat there for three hours and had a really good time. So based on that, the fact they provide a venue for playing these games and hanging out for a few hours makes it all worth it. Really strange thing was that there was this balding guy with a beard that randomly showed up as a waiter. We had been dealing with a bartender, so this guy, kind of rude came on to us and we weren't sure what to do with him. He kind of blocked me from paying the bartender. Rude. Not a hangout spot every day, but certainly once a week, maybe once a month or more, definitely a place to meet up if you got a group. I was really surprised by the diversity of the people that were there. A lot of chess players, a whole table of middle-aged women, lots of different people playing games. It's mid week. You want to be social but you want something a little different. So You go out with some friends to play some board games and maybe get a bit drunk! Thankfully the Board Room is AWESOME for that! I love that an option like this exists for a night with friends outside the apartment, we have precious too few options. The quality of the games can be hit or miss (Are all the pieces even in here? Some boxes are practically disintegrated) but overall this place is a blast. The beer is great too! Where they lose my Fifth Star though is the food menu. Their weekly and happy hour specials often feel like full price. And a lot of the food I have tried once but I'm not coming back to any of it (obviously I haven't tried the whole menu and I do see the cheesesteaks and the buffalo chicken sandwich that look pretty good). However I can say that the mozzarella sticks are very solid and the soft pretzel is actually amazing. Highly recommend. Overall a good low-key spot to meet up for some fun but don't rest your hopes on dinner. read more

I went with my boyfriend on a Wednesday night. When we got there at 5pm, it was pretty empty. It was filling in a lot when we left around 6:30pm/7pm. Decent selection of board games. The games were pretty well worn. It was nice that they had food. Unfortunately, the staff wasn't very friendly. The Board Room is a fantastic spot for Tuesday night trivia. Plenty of outdoor seating, a large variety of beers on tap, and daily food and drink deals make this location an excellent one for friends to relax after work. The margarita flatbread is cooked to order and has an excellent crust, just be careful not to burn the roof of your mouth like I did. I have been here so many times with friends for either late nights, happy hours or food. My friends and I love games and we love all the options available for use. It's also a huge space and can host plenty of people. For the food, it's very typical bar food. You're not getting world class food, but you are getting good food. Fun place to check out trivia on Tuesdays! It's always packed and they have a nice, spacious outdoor patio that you can also play trivia from. Trivia starts at 7 PM on Tuesdays and you wrap up a little after nine so it's a nice way to get out of the house in the evening but not stay out too late. They have your typical bar food, but flatbread are actually pretty good, the dough is actually like a pizza dough and crispy. They have specials every day but Tuesday was their margarita pizza special for $15. The vibe isn't overly boardgame focused but the decor goals from all of your classic board games. They have plenty of TVs if you want to watch sports. Tuesday night during trivia, you have to order from the bar, but they bring the food to your table. read more

Great gaming bar/restaurant, lots of space and surprisingly good food and drinks! The chairs and sofas are quite comfy. We came here with a couple of families and brought our little tots, they enjoyed life-size Jinga and some of the other games. Some of the pieces are missing from the games and glad we brought some of our own games. The kids enjoyed the French Toast and the Watermelon Spritzer Cocktail was refreshing and not too sweet. The bartender was nice and let me sample the slushies. I was eyeing my friend's monstrous breakfast burrito! Saturday night is very loud and crowded. You have to shout to be heard which is difficult especially if you're playing a game that requires talking. The menu is available through a qr code on the table. It's unfortunate that you can't order your food online. You have to go to the bar and wait in a line (mostly long during a Saturday night) to place your drink and food order. I got the Saturday special of poutine and the chicken quesadilla for my main meal. The fries were cold and the gravy was tasteless. The chicken quesadilla was soggy. It might have been the pico de gallo getting under the quesadilla. It would help if the pico de gallo was in a separate small bowl. I've had better quesadilla. Parking is expensive. I've been here twice now and I really enjoy hanging out here! It's a fun spot for watching sports, playing board games, drinking/eating, and just hanging out with a group of friends. Seating is first come first serve. The games are the same way. They have tons of games but it's based on first come first serve. You have order food at the bar. They don't have server that come to the table. Unfortunately, they don't have QR Codes to order to your table either. We ordered nachos, a pretzel, and calamari. The nachos are normally good but this time around it was super burnt! We had to get a new serving of nachos. The pretzel was pretty good and calamari I didn't want but my friends enjoyed it. Highly recommend the board room for a fun meetup spot or date night. I met a large group for a friend's birthday. They don't take reservations, seating is first come first serve, and it does get busy so come early if you need to snag seats for a crowd. The food is decent, but won't win any awards. I will probably stick to apps next time. The board game library is extensive, but a lot of games are missing pieces. As someone who was coming for the board games, I was quite disappointed in the selection. There were not many games and the ones that were there were quite old and dirty. I have been here a few times. Always on a Monday night. Honestly thought I had left a review before. Never mind the food and beverage. The burger is OK when they put the right cheese on it. I guess that's about all I've had Apart from beer or wine.. But not having the right cheese on the burger just circles back to the initial problem with the whole place. The bartender would rather be somewhere else apparently. There can be a line of people at the bar and he is just going to take his sweet time. He mumbles when he talks and just has a sort of "I don't care" attitude. I've actually stood there at the bar, waiting for him to finish a game or a video he was watching before he decided he was gonna pay attention to me. Last night when I was there, I asked if he took Apple Pay. He said yes. Then when I went to pay, he stuck his hand out and wanted me to hand him my phone. Apparently. He didn't say anything. He just stuck his hand out. I told him I was not going to hand him my phone and then he said "well, how else do you do it then?" I had to walk around behind the bar and double click on his computer screen. It's kind of funny because the establishment affiliated with this, Mrs. Peacock, is exactly the opposite. So I'm not sure what gives but surely there must be somebody they can hire who actually wants to work and provide customer service. read more

They've got pretty ample seating for various sized groups and was quiet during the day on a Sunday...not sure how busy they are at night. Want somewhere that has an existing game library, good food, clean facilities, and friendly staff...prob not your spot. The nachos we ordered were fine, but left me without any desire to try something else on their menu. The house games are terribly curated and not cared for at all. The menu on the website seems to be totally different than the menu in person, which is really weird since it's a QR code menu so there's no reason these things can't be synchronized. I was excited to try some of the Belgian-style beers they advertise on their website and I could find no sign of them on the QR menu or the sign in person. The ordering system really doesn't work for a busy Saturday night. Even if you have a table you need to line up at the bar to order which means you're in a potentially long line every time you want a drink. Walking around the bar is substantially more difficult because of the line. Also since it's a bar with tabs you need to line up again to close it, my party went for second drinks just because we needed to line up again anyway. I also found it really weird to be given the checkbook to bring back to our table to fill out the tip. Personally I found the atmosphere too loud to want to play a board game. I also wouldn't really want to be playing a board game with friends and having to regularly pause so people can line up and get drinks. The food and drinks are both fine and the staff seems happy enough bringing food to your table. This place really needs one of those systems where you could order from the QR menu. read more

A friend put together an impromptu game night there, and I decided last minute to join in. There's plenty of street parking, so that was easy. The moment I stepped in, my jaw dropped comparing its size to the DC location. All these years I had only been to the DC one... this one is like 2.0. It's so much bigger, the game selection is more massive, it has plenty of outdoor seating in addition to the indoors, and they have food! I remember the pizza spot next to the DC one not being so great. I didn't have food, but I did enjoy a $7 Chardonnay (happy hour was over, but that's not bad right??) while playing Uno and What Do You Meme. I didn't count, but I spotted at least 30 other games in the area. There are days when the games are free, and they have trivia and other events going on. My interactions with staff were minimal, but we were at one of the tables deep in the place... and they still came to check on us! We could either order through them or at the bar. There were also water stations distributed throughout so we didn't have to go all the way back to the main bar to get some. I noticed a second bar in the backroom, but given the crowd it wasn't operational. I would love to see this place at its peak -- it must be a blast! All the fun here reminds me that I have a similar spot around my way that I need to return to... in fact, I shall put that on my calendar now :). read more

*Do not book an event here* - it's not a smooth operation and you will have issues. Here is what happened to me when I booked the Chairman's Lounge for an Olympics watch party. 1)They had the wrong time down for my group by an hour - the set up wasn't ready for us and we had no server for the first part of the evening. The food arrived very late. 2)The bartender in the main room was extremely rude to my friends. He was even more rude when I went over to him to ask for the TV to come back on - which kept going out (this was a watch party and the TV was promised to me several times). I had never experienced such dismissive rudeness before in my life, it was shocking. 3)The server when she did come into the room much later only did so a couple of times, people still had to go to the main room to order. 4)Nobody came around to bus and the dishes and glasses just kept stacking up. 5) The TV cut out twice - one of the people at the restaurant had to stream it on his phone - but it kept cutting out. This was a *watch party* so the ability to watch the TV was part of the contract I established and they failed to deliver. TLDR: terrible service and didn't fulfill the contract for the event I had reserved and paid for. Stay away!! read more

Good standard board game bar. The space is HUGE with lots of seating and plenty of games. Visitors are welcome to take any game they please without fees. They have some unique and older games, but some are in pretty rough shape. We had fun with a beat up copy of Ticket to Ride a few visits ago, but on this latest trip we brought our own game (Star Wars Villainous) as we just wanted to have a spot to test it out. It's nice to be able to relax with a game, either way. Drink selection seems pretty standard but I usually stick to beer or cider here. My friend got a non-alcoholic mocktail on a previous visit that looked excellent. I haven't had the chance to try their food yet. Decor is unique and features vintage board games and a wall-mounted Scrabble board. I think this place could use servers (it's bar service only as far as I can tell) and to crank up the AC - they left the door to the patio open on a super humid summer night, making the whole place a bit swampy. Not sure if they ever host board game tournaments, but I'd attend if they did. Villainous match, anyone? I'd definitely be a regular of this place if we lived a bit closer. Came here to hang out for happy hour and this was a really fun place! I wouldn't necessarily say I came here for amazing food but the food was still great. Their pretzel and tater tots are classic comfort foods that were pretty tasty with the sauces that they come with - pretty filling too. Warm and crunchy foods. I got one of their orange flavoured cocktails and it was pretty good, although I could start tasting the alcohol pretty fast but my alcohol tolerance isn't the best anymore. But their apples to cider cocktail tasted like straight up whiskey, which I could not stand at all. So it seems like their cocktails are pretty heavy with the alcohol content. They have a ton of fun games to play too. I thought this would be like the DC Board Room where you have to pay to rent a game but they were all free here! Just be wary that the games have been used plenty of times and are missing stuff here and there. If you're germophobic, maybe you shouldn't be touching these games. Lol. Although, the waitress I had seemed like she was avoiding us and she'd be on her phone at times too, so we waited a lot just to get her attention. We had to be THOSE customers who'd keep going up to her to say we're ready to order or wave her down to get the check... At least the food and drinks came out pretty quickly. read more

This is a great place for a comfy date! My boyfriend took me on a Saturday night and we had a great time. The board games are free to play and they have a really wide selection. We played chess, backgammon, banana grams, and got drinks to go with. The couple next to us were very clearly on a first date and I commend whoever chose that spot. The Board Room in Clarendon is such a great spot for hanging out with friends. The part of the bar that makes it unique is they have games that you can play. They have a whole library of games which include board games and card games. They have a very wide selection, so your group can definitely find something to play. Some of the games will be missing pieces but that is kind of to be expected. They also have a selection of drinks and food. The orange crush is one of my personal favorite drink. They have indoor and outdoor seating that is first come, first serve, so I recommend going at off times. For parking, they have a parking garage right beside it that is $4 on the weekends and there is also some street parking around. I've never had fish and chips where the fish tasted like they fried the water with it too. Fries tasted like they were sitting. Beef sliders were uncooked and gross. Super disappointed. We went for dinner. It was fine food. I received the bill and paid. I then looked at my credit card statement and it jumped massively from the bill that I paid and signed.
