Above the really nice coffee shop! I had no idea! I believe in the daytime it's part of the coffee shop and at night it transforms into a night club. Security was respectful & kind to women. The inside has a nice layout. People actually DANCE here!! 10/10 recommend. It's multicultural crowd so it's perfect for me. The first dj was the best. He played back to back hits I love! The last dj could use work his mixes were off..not a good flow. I don't smoke but the ventilation there didn't carry the surrounding hookah so I was okay in there. We went on a Friday night via eventbrite and it was free. The table along the wall we sat at was free as long as we ordered anything off the menu. Mocktail was good and I had a great time here. What an intimate and nice-looking space! I met up with a friend for hookah and drinks in the early evening and had a great time. The waitress was extremely nice, answered our questions about the drinks, and made some great recommendations! My only gripe is that the price is crazy expensive, and they have a "mandatory drink or bottle purchase" later in the evening to stay at a table. We were asked to pay, move to another spot, or leave. It kind of ruined the evening for us, so we decided to leave. read more

So if don't know..Darna has brunch on the weekends (I was very surprised to find this out) with a bottomless option! I'm not going to lie, it was a little weird sitting in somewhat empty lounge having brunch. While there were a couple people there casually smoking hookah and noon, we were the only ones there for brunch. The brunch comes as three courses and includes American and Lebanese-inspired food. Cons: - While it's supposed to be three courses, they brought everything out at once (see photos), so our food wasn't hot. Some of the dishes must've been sitting out while they prepared the rest of dishes. - Although there was no one near us and the place was practically empty, one of the servers informed us that we couldn't combine two small (and I mean smalll) tables so we could have some space to eat our food. All our food and drinks were moved to one small table for four people, making the eating arrangement uncomfortable and crowded (again, even though there was NO ONE sitting at any of the three tables to our left or right). - The food was just alright, I'd give it 3/5. The starters included different types of dips and flatbread. Both were tasty but nothing memorable. Some the sliders were hits and some were misses. My favorite was the falafel slider and the fried chicken was on the drier side so it my least favorite. I wasn't a fan of the third course in general. For the chicken and waffles, the chicken is mixed in with the batter rather than it being on top. The execution missed the mark. The waffle was thick and on the drier side. The same goes for chicken pieces that we couldn't even taste, it just tasted like mush. No amount of syrup could salvage the taste or texture. Pros: - While the food is bite-size, it's plenty so you'll leave you full and satisfied. read more

My partner and I came during happy hour and ordered a couple of rounds of their appetizers + a cocktail. The food was average and our server didn't really check in on us in a timely manner. We were able to get waters but server never refilled it, just came by to take orders. We were the only table outside on the patio/rooftop. We automatically got charged a 20% gratuity on our bill which we felt was unjustified because we were only a party of 2, ordering appetizers during happy hour and sitting in a couch+coffee table setting (not like the typical table service). We will not be back. read more

The club was going up on a Tuesday - I have never seen so many people having fun next door to a Jiffy Lube and across the street from a gas station in my life. Somehow, from that set of auto maintenance-relates surroundings in a suburban neighborhood in Northern Virgina, is an upscale nightclub that would not be out of place in any party capital. Late night food, hookah and bottle service are the keys, with a top notch sound system and lighting that's hard to capture in a photo, but definitely sets a party mood. I'm not sure how this is during the day, but don't laugh out of hand when your friend pulls into the oil-change spot on a Tuesday night - they might have a secret in store. read more

I came to this place with 2 friends . We were the only Black people there on a Tuesday night (lastnight June 11th) but we did not let that stop us from trying to have a good time . The Server was rude from the beginning. She needed my id and debit card to get a drink . I've never been anywhere that required an id . She made it a problem when we inquired about it and got very rude with us and walked away in the middle of us talking . It then became a big argument. Upon talking to a few people I heard this place is racist . Do not give your Money to them and there over priced drinks. This place needs to be shut down read more

Baby listen! I've been to brunch all over the country and this was by far one of the worst. Upon arriving we had a party of 3. We wanted to sit outside, they sat us at a table to two and pulled up a stool for the 3rd person. WTF!!! How is this even acceptable? I complained, this seat doesn't even have a back on it. The waitress was rude, she said if you don't like it you can move inside. Customer service was terrible!! They one have 1 brunch option which is more of family style that everyone in the party is required to get, if you don't no one can eat. Most of which we didn't even like. It seemed to be a consensus within the restaurant because everyone seemed to be complaining about the same thing. We moved inside because it was extremely hot. They once again sat us at a 2 seater, basically you have to make it work. We were sitting on top of the couch for about an hour after purchasing several drinks, a man who I can only assume was the owner came out as asked us to get down. If there was enough room and we weren't on top of each other I would have to sit on top of the couch. The food was mediocre, drinks were good, but this is definitely a place I will never return to. only reason why I gave it an extra star is because of 1 bartender.... I get it's COVID however customer service is always a must. My girlfriends and I were greeted with a hand to our face from one of the bartenders (Kenda) and she shoo'd us outside after she found out we weren't prepared to spend a $300 minimum on a random Wednesday night. She didn't even let us walk inside! Another bartender, Irena was like...so amazingly sweet. Thank you for trying Irena. you are so appreciated! The customer service from the other bartender Kenda, in fishnets, was so bad that my girls and I were trying to figure out if this young lady knew us, and had a personal grudge. (but it's highly unlikely. she probably just needs and attitude adjustment.) it's really sad when you go out for a night of fun and end up greeted by someone so nasty and who pointlessly ruins the vibe. now especially, we need kindness and love. ...this was unfortunately not the intent of Kenda at Darna, this night. Not sure if you are upset, or facing an extreme life situation that would yield such intentionally horrid, disgusting behavior, but, know that my friends and I are all going to send up a nice prayer for you. It was my 1st time there, and my last. The place seemed nice but let me tell you, the security/bouncers are a wreck, one of them especially. Pushing and shoving and pushing women for no reason. Not to mention the threats by one of security guys. Very unprofessional. Did not feel safe with that type of security walking around.Very unlikely I will be letting people know about this place. Establishment seems cool but security is way over their heads. read more

I went with a few friends on 11/23/21 (a random Tuesday night) and the place was mostly empty however the music was insanely loud. I couldn't even hear anything my friend was saying and she was right next to me. I can see this place been a great place to come on the weekend but for a Tuesday night at 11 pm with less 50 people, the DJ was not matching the vibe of the night. Everyone was sitting in silence smoking hookah because it was just too loud to do anything else. If they would have turned it down just a bit it would've been a much more enjoyable experience. Id probably try and come back on a weekend before making a final judgment. read more

I just can't give this place good stars. It had so much potential when I sat down. The two stars are (1) for the interior decor and (2) the falafel wrap. I docked three stars because (1) the hypersexualization of women for money, (2) the supervisor going from table to table asking people who were having a grand ole time "How long do you plan to be here?", and (3) the cost. --- So, first thing you'll notice is that the inside is beautiful, it really is. Second thing you'll notice is the female employees walking around with deep wedgies and thigh high boots. I mean, what they wore seemed more like what bottle girls at strip clubs wear rather than people who are serving food. I don't want to see your butt cheeks flopping after I've asked for napkins and ketchup. It's so unsettling because the men wear black shirts and floor length jeans, but the women are wearing red underwear and bra, sometimes having to cover their chest with their arms as they are interacting with more modest customers that clearly are uncomfortable by the outfits (husband & wife, for example). It's very weird watching customer after customer be uncomfortable with n*pples poking through the top, cell phones tucked into the wedgie bottoms.... and I refuse to give my money to an establishment that exploits the sexualization of women for money. I won't give my money here any more. Second, we were just chilling and what seemed to be the manager went to the table next to us that had three women and after talking for a few seconds, the women seemed unsettled. When he stepped away to head towards us, the three women all looked at each other with big eyes. Then he came to us, sat next to me (a woman) and proceeded to ask us "Do you two think you'll be here all night or how long do you plan on being here?" We looked at each other. I'm 26 years old and never, ever, ever has an establishment that I'm actively spending money at asked me a question like this. I hadn't finished my drink and my friend was still smoking hookah, and wasn't sure what to say so I said, "I guess about 45 minutes." He proceeded to touch my shoulder multiple times as he explained that he wanted to put it in the system *touch* for the hostess *touch* so she knew not to sit someone at our table *touch*. You don't have to touch me with your hands as you say this. As a matter of fact, don't touch me at all. Lastly, I had two drinks (sumac'm) and one falafel wrap and the cost, with gratuity, was $50. My friend likes this place, but due to the employees, I will not be back. read more

Darna is a great nightclub that has good vibes - a lot of lights, good loud music, and happy staff. The music is a mixture of genres like hip-hop, Latin, and dancehall. The early hours are laid back, but late at night it can get busier. Drinks are made well, there's delicious food available at all hours, and the hookah here is great quality. Speaking of food, I highly recommend the chicken shawarma. It's a large meal with tender grilled chicken, crispy vegetables, delicious yogurt sauce. Additionally, the staff here are very attentive and helpful with all requests. I highly recommend this spot if your looking for a chil night with hookah, drinks and tasty food. read more

This place is as awful as the other reviewers say. Expect a fake Miami club vibe with overpriced everything and low quality hookah. We came here on a whim and bought a table so we weren't squeezed in between drunk college kids. Even then the service was subpar. Do not recommend coming here if you're older than 25. That said, the people watching is pretty hilarious and the DJ was decent. read more

I was hanging with some black brothers on Saturday night (06/13/20) and we couldn't walk in because of the dress code. Dress code wouldn't be a problem unless we saw some white folks walking in with the same Jordan shoes/ shorts/ hoodies we had and that they were the reason why we couldn't walk in. We have been told by the door guy that the owner was telling him who let in and who don't. Earlier today (06/16/20) I found the Instagram page of Darna Lounge and I commented the last picture with basically the same things I wrote so far but it was deleted a few minutes later. Then the page texted me, trying to explain the situation. We were texting each other for some minutes then I asked if instead I could call them on Instagram later because I had to work, the answer was "sure". Later I tried at least four times in two different moments of the day but no one hung up. I texted them again telling them to answer but the replied was "I'm busy". I just want to say that I understand the dress code a lounge can have on Saturday nights, as I said that wasn't the problem. I was with black people and I'm honest our clothes definitely couldn't go through that dress code, but then we saw white people walking in, with the same clothes we had. I went to Darna the other day for drinks and food so I can't speak to their Hookah. I think for food and drinks there are better options nearby that are worth trying, but Darna has some work to do to match up. I went on a Monday night and there were maybe two or three other sets of people so not busy. You would have thought they were packed by how slow the service was. Our server didn't take the time to walk us through the menu. There wasn't a variety of drink specials and the special cocktails were pretty expensive so we chose a simple prosecco. For food we tried the lamb kalaya, but when it arrived at our table there wasn't any lamb in the dish. Next we tried the kafta kabob. The portion was small, yet flavorful. The hummus and pita bread. It was average, but lacked any surprising flavors. It was a basic hummus that I could have bought at the grocery store. I don't know if I'll be back to Darna. The food wasn't that great, the service was nice, but slow, and I wish the outside patio space was in use. The interior was dark and the decor looked inexpensive. read more

"Got the club going up ! On a Tuesday " let me tell you about this gem spot ! Beautiful atmosphere and people ! I was greeted by a hostess named Morgan , when I tell you she was the best ever I mean it ! The worst costumer service ever, went there on Monday night and the place was empty only 2 tables and have to wave to our server for about 20 minuets to take our orders without any attention as she was busy smoking hookah and on her phone. Gratuity is already added and I think that the main reason for the staff to not pay attentions to the table as they making their money anyway! Over rated! read more

I appreciate his concern, as I have worked in bars myself for over 7 years and I know personal contact is few and far between. I've only ever been to Darna on random days during the week after work (7-9ish). I am not sure if this is an all the time thing, but they close the outside area promptly at 9PM. I always do a mint-combo hookah with my friend and a Cabernet. All of the staff are pretty attentive and friendly, they are always walking around with hot coals to refresh your hookah to keep it pulling perfectly. Outside furniture is pretty dated and dingy. I think that would be the only complaint I'd have. Another good tip for the staff would be to relocate the cushions inside when heavy rain (or any precipitation for that matter) is in the forecast. The shish taouk (chicken breast, mixed veggies, garlic paste all wrapped in pita bread) is really good, and was half off (not sure if this was for happy hour - originally $22.00, but I paid $11.00). Super filling, flavorful and was served with a generous side portion of fries. All in all, Darna is a solid place for chill hookah, good vibes and a quick meal. I am curious to re-visit during peak nightlife hours this summer. read more

Went for a new Latin night on Thursdays. The space is nice enough, as long as the dance floor doesn't get crowded. Opened a tab and had a couple of margaritas. They weren't super. My friend said they used cheap alcohol. But when I asked to close my tab, the waitress returned with just a receipt. No credit card, and no copy for me to sign. What?? So I had to chase her down and ask for my card. She brought it, and guess what? Gratuity was already included. Of course it was. The other reason I'm only giving 3 stars is the smoke. Yes, it's a hookah bar, but the amount of cigarette smoking in there was on a different level. I actually felt sick and my lungs are hurting now. So if you like not so stellar service and lots of smoke, this is the place for you. I won't be returning. read more

I have passed by at night and it seems like this is the place to be on a Friday or Saturday night. I went by in the evening around 5:30 to check out happy hour. There were not many people there. They have hookah, food and drink specials from 5-7. I got 6 wings ($4) and potatoes ($4). My friend got the chicken shawarma ($7) which came with Fries. Everything was tasty with good portions. I got the happy hour drink with elderflower in it, very good. I sat on the outdoor balcony & eventually people started to come by the time I left at about 7:30 or so. Service was fast and our waitress was attentive & friendly. The inside is beautiful so I will check out this spot later on at night too! read more

Omg where do I start? On Saturday night 6/19/22, my friends and I (early to mid 20s) were so grossed out by the old (late 30s to 50s) *predatory* men there. If you're a woman & want to have fun and feel safe DON'T GO HERE!! They circle you and try to grab you and stuff. The old & younger guys were being sooo creepy, they wouldn't take no for an answer, and men would get belligerent and rude when we told them we didn't want to dance or talk to them. They would find women who were clearly incapacitated and drunk and try to grind on them. It was CREEPY!!! I made sure my drink was always in hand (if you know what I mean!) Not just a couple one offs either, These were multiple guys in sections and the *dozens* of guys who were "just walking by" but tried to like slide past with their hips thrusted out, or touch your waist too long -_- We literally had to ask the one decent guy there for protection because Security was *nowhere* to be found. It was SO uncomfortable that I backed myself into a corner just so men wouldn't try to grind their cr*tch up against me without my consent even AFTER they were told NO. People were SLOPPY drunk, I don't think the bartenders care that they're clearly over serving people (which feels like a l*wsuit waiting to happen.) Trust the other reviews here and go somewhere else in DC! read more

Ordered lamb shish kabob via take-out. Two skewers of grilled meat with accompanying greens. Was a tasty treat at a reasonable price that I will order again. I picked up order early in evening before night club action had really gotten fully underway. Waitresses were friendly and helpful. read more

Going to have to change my mind on this place . Gone a few times and gotten bottle service etc . Came by on a date and was wearing a hoodie . They told they don't allow hoodies and wouldn't let me in. Fair enough . I removed the hoodie and had on a black tshirt . They then told me no you needed a sports coat . Ok I get it no problem . You want a certain look .. well wouldn't you know I'm walking away and four guys come up and two are wearing hoodies . They let them walk right in . If you are going to enforce a look do it for everyone . Business 101 make it the same and now I leave with a bad taste in my mouth . Won't go back with my group of friends ... read more

Quick Facts: This place is serious about the dress code. We watched several gentleman get turned away for wearing jeans and sneakers. Even expensive sneakers. Like hundreds of dollars sneakers. Didn't matter. This place is small. When it gets too packed they do a one in one out type of thing that means that your party might get split up. You have to wait for people to leave so that you can go in if it's after 1 AM. There was never a line for the women's bathroom. There was always a line for the men's bathroom. That just tells you a little bit about the make up of the party. We were about a one woman short of a sausage fest. read more

I'm giving this place 4 stars just off of the atmosphere and the service.....oh also the waitress who was fineeee and we had on the same top! #FashionNova. Anyway, this place gives me Miami vibes. The blue lighting and the waterfall is so sexy. You know what's not sexy!? A $15 watered down Hennessy. I was so mad. I had water the rest of the night lol. The DJ was just ok. The people there asked for $20 to park the car in front of the place, then they asked for dress code, while I have been there few times before and no one asked for it. The people not professional and need a lot of time to learn how to respect the costumers. NOT RECOMMENDED PLACE. read more

Alright, Darna is definitely more of a club than a restaurant and you don't go there for the stellar customer service. You go for the drinks, the well-priced food and the hookah. Come here pretty often that I should give it a review. I've honestly never had a bad time at darna. Always have had fun, smooth hookah and drinks constantly flowing. Music most of the time is banging, but when the music is off...it's really off. The bad are bouncers. Most of the time they're dicks, I've seen people get in wearing trash and others getting denied wearing decent clothes. Could be racial profiling? Who knows. read more

This place is a rip off. First they charge $20 to park in their empty lot. Then when I go up stairs they say Friday and Saturday is like a club so it's $250 for a table. I come back down after my 4min excursion to find the over priced tables. Never go here read more

I was really surprised by the diversity of the people that were there. A lot of chess players, a whole table of middle-aged women, lots of different people playing games. I would give them five stars, but not quite perfect. The rude guy at the end was so odd. Otherwise, great location, great parking, the food was good, good value, and fun.
