We were visiting from out of town and decided to stop by McNamara's--and I'm so glad we did. This place ended up being one of our favorite meals of the trip. We ordered the wings, a burger, and the Carolina pulled pork sandwich, and everything was amazing. The wings were full of flavor, the burger was juicy and cooked perfectly, and the pulled pork sandwich had that perfect smoky, tangy balance. It's always hit or miss trying new spots when you're traveling, but this one was definitely a win. read more

McNamaras is great. I stopped by here late night like 9pm. I asked for recommendations and server said stout burger which is a deconstructed burger with mushrooms and mash. very tasty and easy to eat not messy. I got a carrot cake for dessert and it was awesome too. the beers were poured heavy and the price is lower than a lot of places I've been to. overall good service good food laid back atmosphere. recommend. read more

Right in the center of Arlington is this great little sports bar/ pub. Had all the soccer games playing and decent drink prices. Was in town for a work event and wanted to try something different. Service was prompt and had all of the European pup favorites. I had a creamy potato soup to start and chicken curry seasoned well with white rice. Would stop in again! read more

After our flight to DC, we were starving from being up super early for our flight. I wanted to find a place that was in close proximity to the airport and came across this spot on Google. I thought this would be perfect because my mom is always trying to find a new place for her beloved fish and chips! My brother and I shared the chicken Caesar wrap that definitely hit the spot. It was fresh and the chicken was tasty! My mom got her fish and chips, along with us sharing the chicken nachos. The nachos were delicious as well! Our service was pretty top notch too. I don't think it hurt that we were the first ones there since it was a very cold day out! College football was on too which was a plus! read more

A fun pub right on 23rd corridor of Crystal City. A great Irish pub with daily specials and a good menu. Excellent friendly service. A nice bar with high tops & regular tables. They have live music on weekends. They did an excellent job with our group. Sean was a good server. The pork chops were delicious. read more

Our server, Sean was amazing. The chili cheese fries were tied with the best we've ever had. We had them with bacon. The beef stew was amazing and definitely the best Irish beef stew I've ever had. The chicken pot pie was huge and my husband absolutely loved it. My grandson had the burger and it was cooked perfectly and he said it was up there with the best burger he's ever had. Definitely recommend McNamara's pub. Football season is about to start so find your way down to the pub to watch some games. The only complaint is the ketchup. Especially if you're a Steelers bar, you definitely should have Heinz read more

This place was phenomenal! Very cleanly and good vibes throughout. Wait staff is super friendly and helpful. Food was super good and tasted fresh which is rare for a "pub" restaurant. Even the veggies were fresh in some capacity and came out al dente instead of complete mush. Short review but that's all I have to say, this place was delicious! read more

Mediocre experience at best. Stopped in for St. Patrick's Day weekend in order to take advantage of the festivities, namely the live music they had. The food was okay: the house salad was decent enough, but the chicken pot pie was subpar. Edible sure, but the sauce was bland and in dire need of more herbs and spices, and the chicken-to-potato ratio was way off. Definitely think Sysco is their supplier. The service, unfortunately, was really poor. The salad had to be remade twice due to the server, and then the kitchen, not following my instructions. The manager tried to explain this, but did so in a dismissive manner. If she really felt bad, she would have comped the salad from the bill for the inconvenience Finally, the menu was condensed for St. Patrick's weekend, which was quite inconvenient given that they didn't announce it on their socials/website and I have been on a low-carb/low-red meat diet, which severely limited my options. Not even the monthly specials were available. The server obviously felt bad and was rather friendly, and the traditional Irish music was quite lovely, hence the extra star. However, I didn't think I'll be back in the near future given these above issues; all of which are classic "growing-complacent-with-training-and-quality" type issues. read more

Im gonna tell you straight. The fish & chips were breaded and cooked really well. The large pieces of cod were great. Fries are fries, but they were good. The banger & mash were just what they are, but I love the basic staples like that. I am a meat and potatoes guy. People were having a great time in there. There was lots of laughing and it was a typical pub atmosphere on a weekend afternoon. Im sure it gets better during a football game. The staff were pretty good and friendly. I ended up getting me a t-shirt. Not buying a t-shirt to rep a place that sucks... js read more

Small corner restaurant on a strip of different kinds of restaurants, you have a mixture of options. Came here to enjoy happy hour and have drinks with friends. They have food and drink specials throughout the week including weekends! $5 dollar jameson on a Sunday?! Who doesn't love that? Bar was fully packed so we got a table, but the service was pretty quick. Chandler was on top of getting our drinks and stayed attentive even when they had a quick dinner rush. They were kind of slow around 530pm then around 6pm had a full restaurant. Nothing on the food menu screamed "EAT ME," but i did find some items intriguing enough to want to come and try again. The Poutine tots did catch my eye and i was super excited to try it as i love cheese curd poutines! The tots?! 10/10. It was so yummy, had pulled pork, cheese, and it was smothered in gravy! Each bite was coated perfectly and they did not skimp on the pork! I am getting hungry thinking about it right now...I would love to actually come try some of their Irish dishes since it is an Irish sport pub. I knocked off one star, because the cleanliness of the restaurant slacked a little and so did the bathrooms, dirty no toilet paper or soap... floors were wet and sticky as well as the tables. I get super ick when i see that so it makes me wonder how their kitchen is...scary. Hopefully their staff cares about food handling and takes the back of the house serious! read more

Our group of 4 stopped in for drinks and apps after a nice day. I'd didn't eat much because my stomach was sick after my wife's wallet was stolen from her purse by the pair of clowns that were seated behind us. With his back turned he reached into her purse and extracted her wallet. My son kind of noticed it and asked my wife to check as the pair of fellows left. Indeed the wallet was gone and the pair had hoofed away quickly. Here is the point of my review: The manager seemed concerned and urged us to call the police as they would come right away. No they won't, in fact the police wouldn't take a statement at all. I had to go online to make a report. The officer I spoke to indicated they were understaffed and only responded to violent crimes. So you can pick pockets or steal all you want in Arlington and the police won't even take a report. I really feel like the manager was familiar with the fellows who stole the wallet. I noticed them wandering comfortably around before they were seated next to us. The fact that the manager insisted that the police would be right out, when as policy they would not was quite odd. As a side note the manager could have at least comped us our drinks. So, hold your valuables close when visiting Arlington; especially McNamara's. read more

I came back for the karaoke and gave this place another chance. It has gotten MUCH better! Food is still good. They have more staff, which helps a lot. There is a shortcut walkway from the parking lot to the front of the block. read more

To cap off a day of sightseeing in Washington DC. We referred to Yelp and found this amazing Irish pub! Lots of locals. After reviewing their menu and ordering adult beverages, my wife decided on their adult grilled cheese and I their mahi-mahi special. The adult grilled cheese was spectacular filled with thick, bacon and tomatoes, the mahi-mahi special was truly delicious! A large portion of fish and wonderfully steamed vegetables! We sat at the bar and of course had great service! It's really our favorite spot. Nibble on my wife ordered a side of their tater tots. They were crisp and delicious! For whatever ridiculous reason we still had room for a brownie sundae! If you're in the area, you could do a lot worse! Two thumbs up from our POV. read more

I came here with a large group to watch the Eagles game on a Sunday. I ordered the calamari, which was a huge miss because they were really soggy-- to the point where they were dripping. I actually had to stop eating the calamari, and switch over to eating the marinara sauce (which was good!) The fries were great! The reuben was also a miss unfortunately for me because there just wasn't enough meat in it. I know our group was there for a couple hours to watch the game, but we also had to serve ourselves water read more

My friends and I wanted to check this place out after our rock climbing session. Was a pleasant surprise, with great services and, a lively ambiance for a Wednesday night, and the food was great. First time at McNamara's Pub in Arlington, VA. We enjoyed eating the following: -Thai chicken wings -Buffalo chicken wings -Chicken pot pie -Apple pie a la mode -Bacon cheese sandwich -Crispy French fries Everything we ate was so delicious!! The servers were very nice but a bit slow getting our drink refills. They had karaoke at restaurant and wished I had the courage to go on stage and sing like the girl in video! Lol The restaurant was clean with indoor and outdoor seating. The east coast is very HOT this time of year so best getting a table inside restaurant where there's AC. Looking forward to coming back for the chicken wings. Give this place a try when in the area. Happy Yelping :) read more

Music was a major miss (why are we playing dubstep in a pub??) but the appetizers and drinks were pretty solid. Service was alright. Went here on a Sunday so it wasn't super happening even though some drunk old dudes wanted to fight each other . Adds to the pub vibe so I didn't mind it much. They make a solid Old Fashioned and decent beer selection. Overall would recommend for a quick drink/visit. read more

Cool Irish and sports atmosphere. Good beer and great food. We had a relatively short layover indoors DC and looked for a place for me my wife and kids. We got in very quickly and our food was served very quickly. Had the chicken club and it was huge, I couldn't finish it and that rarely happens. Pro tip - they have golden tee and it is cheap. Only a buck for 3 holes. read more

McNamara's is a popular sports bar in Crystal City with a nice old-school vibe. Kind of reminds you of the pubs in London or the bar from the old sitcom, Cheers. Wooden decor and signed jerseys from famous athletes everywhere. I came here for solo dinner and started with a Candied Bacon Old Fashioned. Very good classical cocktail with that twist at the end, and yes bacon goes well with everything! For entrees, I went for the Honey Glazed Salmon, Good portion size and the salmon was cooked perfectly along with the rice and generous portion of veggies. I wished it had more glaze though, since the carrot puree was soaked up by all the rice. Solid dish, but next time I'm eating at an Irish Gastropub it's probably better to have local favorites like fish and chips or Shepherd's Pie. Speaking of pie, their Apple Pie is a solid dessert. It came out hot (as all good apple pies should be!) wide a side of both vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. read more

We ended up walking here from the metro station, I don't know if I would fully recommend that but I do recommend the restaurant. We arrived on a Saturday with a 1 PM reservation. I have to admit, the reservation was not necessary. The restaurant had several customers, but in no way was a reservation needed. We were seated quickly, and the menu provides options for everyone. Luckily we were right in between brunch and lunch so we had a ton of options. I ended up going with a macaroni and cheeseburger with tots, what an amazing burger. It was cooked as I ordered, and the mac & cheese was delicious. Tater tots were pretty standard, but highly recommend ordering this meal. Another guest ordered a hotdog kids meal, no concerns there. Another member of our party ordered the spice bag and it was one of the best meals they had our entire trip. They could not stop talking about it and when we got home, they were looking for restaurants in the area that also carried it. The last member of our party went with a deconstructed burger, no complaints from them. They said it was delicious and cooked exactly how they wanted it. There are a lot of restaurants in this area, lots of bars, and plenty of Italian restaurants. If you get a little nervous, having to pick one restaurant out of a ton, you won't go wrong with this option. Staff were very friendly during our visit. We interacted with about three different employees and they were all great. The restaurant itself is your typical Irish pub, fun music, lots of drink options and of course, the customers are always a treat. If you're in the area, I'm looking for something delicious. Definitely check this place out. There's something on the menu for everyone and I'm sure you'll enjoy it. read more

First timer, the place seems to be located in the cool area of Arlington. A place were people go on weekends. There is several others restaurants and bars on that street.I thought to check this place out. Went to the bar area of the restaurant. I was hungry and decided to ordered a club sandwich and a couple of beers. Overall the restaurant was getting busy. I noticed this placed is nice, cleaned and the service is friendly. The washrooms are clean. The customers are respectful with no drunks or loudmouths. The food was delicious, tasty and filling. The service was perfect and timely. Overall we will be back. Met a co-worker who was in town for lunch. He got the Sheppards pie and said it was very good. It was big but he ate the whole thing! The waiter said they make the chicken pot pie fresh everyday. Glad my friend got to try it. I got the American burger with a side of Mac and cheese. I ordered the burger with blue cheese crumbles, extra lettuce, and onion rings instead of the fries that come with the it. Burger was a minute over cooked but still delicious. Not sure if I got the extra lettuce. The onion rings were worth every calorie! So crunchy. So fresh. Mac and cheese was delicious but needed a little salt. I'd like to come back and try the cocktails. read more

Walked the block looking for something that might just hit the spot. Stopped in and the place was busy and food looked good. The server told us to sit where we wanted. There was a table by the window and we sat down. The four of us were in town visiting so we all tried something different. We ordered the calamari, tuna melt with seasonal veggies, a shepherds pie, bangers and mash, and the corned beef and cabbage. Well, started out great with the calamari and the McNamara's Lager was delicious. It only got better. The Tuna Melt was the best I ever had. Not mayonnaise and runny, absolutely delicious with the jalapeños. The seasonal veggies were cooked perfectly al dente and buttered to perfection. No salt and pepper needed. The Bangers and Mash were incredible and filling. The plates were cleared for both the shepherds pie and corned beer and cabbage. Good beer selection, a great selection of food, and more of a beach-bum vibe than Irish pub but still a cool place. I got the fish and chips, and I was able to sample a few other things from the people who were with me. The chips were nothing to write home about but the fish was good. Cod, with not too much batter, good and firm. Our server also rocked. Cool kid, good sense of humor, and he didn't get overwhelmed by a 12-top walking in unannounced. read more

Service was friendly. Food was something left to be desired. Consider this place more of bar food more than Irish pub and expectations shouldn't be upset. It's a bar setting, loud but was an enjoyable time with our group of 6. I was hoping for shepherds pie to live up to the reviews. Unfortunately it did not. Drinks were good. I liked the regular espresso martini better than the special with baileys and cinnamon, but they weee both good. I think the salmon was the winning dinner choice at the table. The spiced bag was interesting- but again - expect bar food quality with a bigger selection on the menu and you'll be fine. The service is absolutely what made this place worth recommending- our waiter was attentive and friendly. read more
