So many of the businesses in Town Square are chains so it is really cool to have a locally owned business hold its own among the big businesses. I would have had a better experience if there were more vegan friendly options and better service. The only thing on the menu I could find that was vegan were french fries. I wish they had a vegan sandwich option. They do have a decent amount of vegetarian options, but they could not be made vegan. I ordered their french fries and was impressed with the portion size. Additionally, the french fries were well seasoned and the right amount of crispy with a soft center. This, however, is not a meal and I really wish I could have enjoyed something more substantial. The service was so slow and that would be my main reason for not wanting to come back. It was really fun seeing how many people the employees knew by name. My boyfriend and I had our first date here at Finn's in 2020. Since then, we have been to Finn's on many occasions. The staff are truly great people, and the regulars are entertaining. They burned the original burger to shoe leather; the replacement one was just shy of burnt. Nice, neighborhood place with a decent draft beer menu, bar and food. Usually pretty loud indoor seating; on a nice day/evening it can be more pleasant to sit outdoors. Staff are enthusiastic and friendly. The Staff usually are really busy so it can be a chore to get their attention. The other night, we ordered a dozen wings with old Bay seasoning (a special) and the 3 fish taco plate. Old Bay Wings (10 wings for $14) - the sauce is billed as being house-made, but it's essentially a Franks hot sauce (traditional Buffalo wing sauce), but there was barely a hint of Old Bay. That was disappointing. Also, the wings themselves were scrawny - tiny, with very little meat and pretty hard to chew. For $14, the wings should be a lot better. Fish tacos ($14) - delicious. The server said they were spicy and there was a Siracha-type sauce lightly applied that gave the dish a nice kick. The fish was lightly breaded and fried - a nice sized piece of fish in each of the three tacos. Doesn't come with a side, like fries. Very filling and tasty. I don't tell people how to run their businesses, but I do wonder if maybe they should have more than two people covering the busy bar and restaurant, including the outside seating. I like this place a lot. My goto bar in RTS. Wish my neighborhood shopping center had a bar like this. Susie is the bartender we see most and she is so friendly. The staff here makes this place a more welcoming feel. Nothing like kicking back with some Guinness on draft and watch some games on tv and being waited on by some real good people. We really like their wings here, poutine, and other appetizers as I normally come here after dinner. But I finally decided to eat more substantial meal and ate a Guinness beef stew. It was huge and tasty. Need to hit my peloton bike after that meal. Next time fish and chips and save room for desserts. Anyone know where I can get a good sticky toffee pudding? Great place for happy hour. Came here on a Wed night with a group of people and the place was already pretty full. But the bartenders were quick to serve us our beers and our food. My husband and I both ordered the fish and chips, which I highly recommend! The portions are big. The fish batter is light and crispy while the fish was flaky. There was definitely a good ratio of batter to fish. The fries were also pretty good. We also like how they have picnic tables outside so if the weather is nice out, highly recommend sitting outdoors. It was nice of one of the bartenders to come bring the food to us outside. So good that he ate the leftovers when we got home 2 hours later. There were four large pieces of beautifully battered fish plus the fries. I had a corned beef sandwich which was melt in your mouth good. It didn't have as much zing to it as I expected of a horseradish sauce but still very tasty. This is the neighborhood bar that I enjoy going to. It's in Rockville Town Square and it's a great place to drink some beers and hang out with friends/family. They are open late and you usually see many hospitality folks hanging out here late at night. It's great to see some former GB staff here like Suzie. I usually eat some of their appetizers here such as poutine, Reuben eggs rolls and buffalo wings. They have the usual beer offerings found in typical Irish bars - Guinness, Smithwicks, Harp and others. Wish they could offer one local beer such as Seven Locks on draft. We got there at 8pm on Saturday night. This restaurant was walking distance from our hotel (Cambria). Our party of 5 was able to be seated fairly quickly. They have an extensive selection of beer and drinks. There's a bar area on the left and tables on the right. We had fried cheese curds and buffalo wings as appetizers. For dinner, one guy had the special Guinness stew, one had smoked Gouda and bacon burger, another had the buffalo chicken wrap, and one had the Finnegan's grilled cheese. Lots of meat and cabbage but with only 1 potatoe. There was a good sauce on top and I mixed it in. But that salty flavor that I usually associate with corned beef wasn't present. This was a great beef stew but I wouldn't think it was corned beef. The cheese steak was perfect. Plenty of meat, plenty of cheese. I wish I didn't eat it all in one sitting because I'll be going back again for another this week. So I'll be back for the cheese steak but not for the corned beef. "Hidden" gem in the heart of Rockville My husband and I had been craving a good shepherd's pie but living near Frederick, our options were limited. As always, I hopped on Yelp and found Finnegan's Wake. Advertised as a pub, we were somewhat hesitant to take our child to a pub but it was 2pm on a Saturday so we figured we were fine to head to the restaurant. We are so thankful we did!!! Our server was also running the bar and seemed to do both effortlessly. We started out with the cheese fries which were DIVINE. It is more like a cheese soup, but in the best way. Have you ever ordered cheese fries only to find that the cheese was only on the top of the fries? Well prepare yourself to be WOWed by this: cheese at the bottom, a layer of fries, then cheese on top, but the cheese has a hint of old bay in it (of course). We ordered shepherds pie and the grilled cheese at the recommendation of the server. This grilled cheese is probably one of the best grilled cheese sandwiches I've ever tasted. The shepherds pie was good, but it would've been better with lamb instead of ground beef. We also ordered a kids chicken tenders and that was pretty good. Service and value was top notch. I brought my family (including four adult children) to Finnegan's Wake for a birthday dinner. The restaurant feels like a pub, with a long bar and short and tall tables. We sat at the tables, ordered drinks, and dinner. This is a pleasant, unassuming place, and feels like how a neighborhood place should feel. Drinks were fair sized, and dinner portions will leave you full. I had the corned beef, which is reminiscent of what I tasted in Killarney. It is brined in house, and worth trying. We sent it back and got one with no meat for her, and the wait staff was polite and understanding (and deserved the extra tip. I frequent Finnegans often. Several times a week for dinner and drinks. They have a great menu that's diverse so there is always something delicious to try. My favorite has to be their wings, corn beef sandwhich, grilled cheese, chopped salad, meatloaf and Irish cheddar fries. They also have corn beef egg rolls aka reuben rolls that are so delicious. You can't go wrong with whatever you order. They are also open late which is a great thing after a long work week when you need a relaxing place to hang out at. The staff is always very attentive, courteous and have a smile on their face when they greet you. Paul, Chloe and Alex are great bartenders. Even when it's very hectic they staff accordingly so that they have enough hands on deck and clientele is not waiting. Some nights they even have live music or beer vendors that bring special offers. For Christmas the bar was decorated so beautifully. It gave you such a nice vibe each time you walked in during the holidays. Yule log playing in the background and all.
