    BURNT ENDS
    Stuart O.

Came here on a business trip. I'd say it's right on the edge between a 3 and 4. I tried 3 things: Brussel sprouts with bacon, burnt ends Mac-n-cheese, crab cake. The best of those was the crab cake which I really enjoyed. Lots of crab, not heavy on filling or mayo. Quite tasty. The burnt ends were, as advertised, burnt. Not really, but I found the flavor to be too strong in that direction. The Brussel sprouts were good, although I like mine a little more crispy.

Overall not bad, but just doesn't top my list. Not suggesting you don't give it a try but I think it's pricey for what you get. Parking can be a challenge because it's mostly paid street parking and can be hard to find a spot. Staff are friendly, and the inside is quite nice. I got a pork belly sandwich, which was very flavorful and filling, and salad, although they got my salad wrong. My wife had the chicken and waffle, which I found lacking flavor. So hit or miss with orders.

I took my team for dinner here since it has a good variety of food and it's really close to our office. Good service. We ordered a few appetizers, burnt brisket ends that were good but a little tough and chewy. Chicken wings which were a little dry. Calamari which was good. I don't drink but I ordered some of their suggested wine bottles for my team to drink and they said it was good wine. I ordered the salmon stuffed with crab meat and it was delicious with a decent serving of light veggies. It was a very good venue for a team dinner as we were able to converse easily without any loud music or chatter from a filled restaurant. This can be my go to when I'm in town. The bill was as expected for the 10 of us.

Okay but not great. I had the poutine and bbq, two different types of wings and cornbread. It wasn't anything too spectacular. It's strangely upscale for a bbq place.

This was a pretty ok place. I stopped here for lunch during a conference that was at Amazon HQ and it was the only place that wasn't packed. It was a nice day and the interior is very dim and quiet. I sat on the patio and there was only 1 server - which wasn't too much of a problem because there was barely anybody there at that time, but service was still slow. I ordered a Paloma which took about 15 min to come out and an Epic Salad with chicken - which was essentially a southwest salad in a taco bowl. It was pretty basic but ok for a lunch option since it wasn't so heavy. It was overpriced in my opinion but maybe a different menu item might change my mind.

One of my favorite places to eat when visiting the DC metro area and specifically, Pentagon City. This is not your regular smokehouse but a quality eatery that serves great tasting protein with excellent side dishes to top off your meal. My wife had the brisket and mac cheese dish and it was outstanding. The brisket was cooked just right w a smokey taste and tender beef. The mac and cheese must be an old family recipe as my wife raved over it. I had the brisket poutine and I was very satisfied w everything the meal had to offer. The brisket was perfect and the fries and gravy were prepared just right. The bar was second to none. Go here for an outstanding quality meal when in the area.

Restaurant was dimly lit restaurant and quiet, which makes it a fantastic place to actually have a conversation. We sat at a large booth near the windows and was greeted kindly by the staff. Our waitress was nice and cheery. We received complimentary corn bread with sweet butter which were good but a bit dry. We split and order the combo which came with 1/2 rack of ribs, pulled pork, prime ribs and brisket. It came with brussel sprouts and we replaced the mashed potatoes with mac and cheese. The brussel sprouts were tasty and the mac and cheese had a nice crispy layer on top. There was an upcharge for the mac and cheese but it was worth it! The prime rib was delicious with the horseradish but the au jus was salty. The ribs were on the sweeter side but was tender. The brisket was a little dry for me but the pulled pork was good. The bbq sauce was a bit too vinegary for me. Wish there were more sauce options but overall a great experience!

Enjoyed our dinner at Epic Smokehouse. We recommend trying the following: -Smoked Prime Rib with mashed potatoes -Brisket with Mac and cheese Dessert: Bourbon Bread Pudding Our dinner was outstanding!! The service was great with nice ambiance. There's only indoor seating. Check it out when in the area! Happy Yelping :)

Met a friend at the bar during the week for a happy hour cocktail. I had read about the bacon bourbon old fashioned and knew I had to try it. It lived up to the hype! Would order it again. We got the appetizer sampler to share and this try three things. Had I just ordered the burnt ends, I would have been equally satisfied. They were the best thing on the platter. The Kahula pig rolls and hickory smoked wings with BBQ sauce were good but the twice smoked and seasoned brisket ends stole the show. The portion was generous. Of course the cornbread with honey butter was delicious. Yes, a little dry, but that's what the butter is for :) A 3.5 but rounding up to 4 stars.

    Steak Frites

This place was smaller than I thought it would be but packed much flavor and lots and lots of portions. Usually when you order steak frites, they slice the steak for you and it's a lot thinner but here they literally give you a whole steak that's worth the money and I probably bet you won't be able to finish it (in a good way). If you are considering coming here with a large party, I would call first because of the size of the place, but I'm pretty sure they can accommodate you. Our service was nothing special, but our waiter did accommodate our big party to the best of his ability. Will definitely be back

Truth in advertising, as all the flavors I tasted were deliciously Smokey! I came here with coworkers from our home office after landing in DC. It was walking distance from my hotel which made it a bonus little burn. Our waitress Stephanie was hilarious and friendly, accommodating the various dietary restrictions in our group. Their menu runs the grilling gamut from beef to seafood, and they have both inside and outside seating. We started with their appetizer sampler, of which my favorites were the juicy burnt ends and chicken wings with sweet chili sauce. The sweet flavor contrasted nicely with the smokier bbq chicken. Portion size was very nice as well; it was a very juicy bird. The fries could have been a touch crispier but still and all pretty good. As far as drinks, make sure to enjoy the bacon bourbon old fashioned. The flavor stays true to the venue's name and garnished with a strip of caramelized bacon and a maraschino cherry.

Good BBQ place. I particularly like the brisket poutine. The washrooms are a bit dark. Sorta annoying. I went on a slow night, so service was pretty good.

Was staying a couple blocks away and this was the only place open when I arrived on a Sunday night. Sat at the bar and watched football, bartender was super friendly and engaging. I got the crab cakes (the price was MP-ended up being $45) which were good, but the slaw and fries were average. A bit expensive for what I got but maybe the smoked meats are better. Overall it seems like a good option if you are nearby and need something outside of the Amazon HQ restaurants!

The brisket was pretty good. Not the best I ever had. However, it had great texture and was thick cut. Dipped in their bbq sauce- it was even better. The grilled wings were great. Fat juicy drums! *I gave my aunt the flats, and she enjoyed them too. The brussels and esquites were great. Im not a big parmesan guy, but on the brussels it surprised me. The cornbread had a great texture as it was moist and held up nice; it wasn't dry and crumbly. I prefer my cornbread sweet though. Id pass on it next time. Upon request, the pickles were great, but the pickled onions not so much. They were more bitter and "onion'y" if you know what I mean (it tastes like they used white onions, the ones that go on hotdogs). Im used to them being a little sweet when I get them from bbq places and even Mediterranean spots. And lastly, I didn't like the blue cheese too much it was more bitter (im used to sweeter blue cheese similar to Ken's). Another thing I'd pass on in the future. Overall, the main courses and sides were good. I recommend and would go back again to get the same things and even try the white meat chicken.

A wee pricey for lunch for us on a regular basis with the portion size. 2 Lunch orders, 1 beer in a plastic cup, was a little over $70 (not with tip). Probably a one and done for us.

Unfortunately, service started off on the wrong foot. There was a very large party already on the patio, and I was seated behind them. I waited about 12-15 minutes before the rest of my group arrived, but no server ever came by. We decided to head inside to get re‑seated, but couldn't find a hostess anywhere. We eventually flagged down a random server in the bar area and asked if a four‑top could be cleared so we could sit there instead. Thankfully, once we moved inside, everything improved dramatically. Service from that point on was attentive and friendly. The "Peoples Hour" menu was a highlight--great pricing without feeling "cheap." Appetizers were $6-10, cocktails $6-8, wines $6, and beers $6.50. The Down & Dirty (a vodka martini variation without vermouth) was solid, and the Out of the Office...Forever rum punch was decent. For food, we tried several items: - Makers Mini Nachos with steak -- Generous toppings but the chips got soggy quickly under all the queso, sour cream, and guac, which is not necessarily a bad thing. - Taco-bout Fish -- Crispy cod with a lemon aioli; one of the better bites of the night. - Drop It Like It's Hot -- Really good chicken tenders with a spicy Comeback sauce. - Lil B sliders -- Nicely cooked and not overdone; the Comeback sauce added a nice kick. The space has an upscale sports‑bar vibe with TVs above and around the bar. Seating can feel tight when it's busy, and the noise level definitely climbs, so keep that in mind if you're looking for a quieter meal. Despite the rocky start, the rest of the evening was enjoyable. Good food, great happy hour pricing, and solid service once we were settled inside. I'd return--just probably not to the patio during a big party.
