    Truffle fries

Went to barely Mac and everything was underwhelming, we were seen by 4 different servers but none took our orders or got us drinks. The food though was also not great, wings were probably the best but the ranch was not good. The truffle fries were drowning in truffle oil yet somehow had no truffle flavor but extremely oily. We got a beer, calamari, fries, wings, and a burger and it was $85 which is wild but also for terrible food it truly was not worth it. Out of all the great places in VA and DC, this is not it.

Came in for Happy Hour, it started to get busy around 5:30 which was perfect. Ordered the Mexican Mule (tequila) and an Italian meats pizza. It was super tasty. Service was great and staff was friendly. I will come back.

Very mediocre mac and cheese. Tasted also play doh-y. It could be a good happy hour place but purely for food, it's expensive for food you can easily make at home. Large space and service was very speedy though!

Spent 5 weeks in Rosslyn the beginning of the summer and we're back again for 2 weeks - the VRBO we're renting/rented is right around the corner from Barley Mac so of course we wanted to try it out. And I'm glad we did. My husband and son love the prime dip and my fave is the Southwest Chicken salad (best salad I've ever had and that's saying a lot). We've had awesome servers and having now gone 3x, every experience has been top notch - will miss Barley Mac when we head home. Beautiful restaurant, too!

Awesome food, reasonable prices, and great service at Barley Mac! I enjoyed the crab cake the most and appreciate the generous portions. The restaurant had such a cozy vibe during the holidays. Would recommend checking this place out if you're near Rosslyn!

Stopped by on a Saturday and it wasn't busy. We requested to be seated outside in the shade. Our waitress eventually came over few minutes and we placed our orders. We ordered the following: Barley Mac Tacos (Salmon). The salmon was good but overshadowed by the tomatoes. The fries were DELICOUS. Italian Meats Pizza. I am not sure what type of ground beef they are using but it tastes like dog food. The Pepperoni's were good but could be better placed throughout the pizza vs the dead center. The bacon is practically unnoticeable. The Buffalo Mac & Cheese was different. You can definitely taste the Buffalo flavor. I enjoyed the chicken with it as well. The crab Mac and Cheese was good as well. Nice portion of crab meat. The Margherta pizza was nothing special. We. Could do without. Overall the service was nice and the location is cool. The food however, needs some work. I don't think I'd order anything again except for the fries. Thanks for the time. I hope the food gets better.

NEW YEAR = NEW FOOD + NEW BOOZE Met up with one of my best friends for a New Year's Week happy hour and chit-chat session. We enjoyed several drinks and shared a few appetizers. What we had: STRAWBERRY MARGARITA JALAPEÑO DEVILED EGGS MEATBALLS CLASSICO PEPPERONI PIZZA CRÈME BRÛLÉE CHEESECAKE Everything was delish. I'll definitely be back for more of the same and possibly a few other items I eyed on the menu. We were there on a Wednesday around 4pm and it wasn't very busy (at least in the section where we were sitting). Once we left, I noticed more of a crowd throughout the restaurant. The service was good and we were checked on often enough where we didn't feel badgered or ignored. __ I eat. @f.hux I thrift. @DCthriftish

Came here for a network event got dinner after on a rainy friday. Seats are pretty limited. One side is a bar and one side for the restaurant. The lobster mac was delicious. It could be a app to share or a full meal. Calamari was tasty. The wings were tender and flavorful as well. Price was high but taste was there so I cant complain. Parking all around the neighborhood.

    Breakfast Gnocchi

Came here with high hopes for the breakfast gnocchi. I love gnocchi, pesto and eggs. I was sadly disappointed. The gnocchi had the consistency of fried mashed potatoes bites with an after taste of hash browns. I asked for eggs over easy. They came out over medium. The egg white omelet was cooked well. It was very pepper forward, just be aware. The Bloody Mary was spicy but lacked flavor. Would not order again. The coffee was good. Service was good. Location is on point. Lots of street parking. They have a brunch menu with many options.

We went here in the summer on a weekend at around 4pm. It was not busy at all - the waiters were very nice, providing some recommendations and answering our questions. We sat outside and they were dog friendly, providing a bowl of water. The QR code scanned menu was a bit confusing - a few times, the beers listed on the QR code said it was on tap but the waiter said it was bottled. Some of the drinks also didn't have prices listed (but some did). Overall, their QR menu needs some work - I would recommend people ask the waiters just be to sure that a drink is on tap versus bottled/canned. I ordered a lobster bisque and we got a shared order of potato wedges. The lobster bisque was good - but the serving size was pretty small. I'd recommend it for someone who wasn't that hungry; it's definitely not a substitute for a meal. The bisque is very rich and flavorful - though a bit salty. The potato wedges were good. Overall, solid food - but nothing super memorable. The prices are a bit on the higher side and I don't think it's super worth it. If you are in the area, I would have no problem recommending this place - but I wouldn't go out of the way to come here.

Had a great experience with a large group brunch here. The service was great despite the large party size of 12. They even gave us separate checks by person/couple. Mimosas are only $3! I really liked my lobster Benedict, my husband loved his burger and everyone seemed content with the meal. Looking forward to going back to try HH and Mac and cheese.

The ribeye and New York strip were very good. The butchers steak I got for my son and he didn't really like it, it was lacking flavor. If you do anything when you go, please make sure to get the biscuits. Hands down THE BEST BISCUITS I've ever had lol. They are the most flaky and buttery biscuits, you can count each layer that these have. Pro tip is to ask for butter and the house made jam. The standout of the morning was the breakfast side potatoes--crispy, seasoned perfectly, and easily something I'd come back for. The breadbasket came with three pastries, which felt a bit smaller than expected, but the almond croissant more than made up for it. On the heartier side, the chicken and waffles were extremely filling thanks to the dense waffles, so definitely a dish to tackle with an appetite. One of the biggest surprises was the brunch salad with salmon, which ended up being one of the best salads I've had in a long time--fresh, balanced, and satisfying. The breakfast sandwich was another highlight: so good that it's now the new standard I'll compare all other breakfast sandwiches to. The smoked salmon bagel was also a fun experience, served deconstructed so you can build each bite exactly how you like it. Not everything was a hit--the French toast wasn't my favorite--but the overall meal was strong enough that it barely detracted from the experience. Brunch offers a few additions beyond the regular breakfast menu, but overall it's very similar to their standard breakfast, just with a couple of extra options. It tends to get full on the weekends to make a reservation. Bottom line: Penbrook is a beautiful hotel restaurant that punches above its weight--excellent service, memorable dishes, and several items worth returning for.

For bites, we shared the chicken nuggets with caviar (yes, nuggets and caviar... and yes, they were delicious) and the lemon garlic shrimp, which was flavorful and perfectly cooked. Everything we ordered hit the mark. Prices are about what you'd expect for K Street and the overall vibe. Think $20-$25 cocktails, $20+ appetizers, and $35+ entrees. Portions, both drinks and food, lean on the smaller side, which is probably the only thing that might make you pause and wonder if it's slightly overpriced. ‍ Service Service was great.
