    House-cut seasoned parsley Frites

Happy Hour provided a small sample of this Farm to Table Hot Spot. We enjoyed it. I got the House Cut Parsley fries which was huge and seasoned to perfection. Venison meatballs, were great; super moist and had great texture, Brussels Salad with Steak, this delectable Bread Pudding with Cherries and a light caramel sauce, and a Peachy Whiskey drink I think called a southern sparkle that got me right. It was sweet and had a nice zing. Every bite was delicious. I didn't order a Buger but wish I had room as they looked amazing. My server was charming and swift. Highly recommend. Outside seating was roomy too.

Don't always believe the old adage that if a restaurant isn't crowded, the food must be trash--because that's definitely not the case here. We stopped in for lunch before taking some family to the airport, and Copperwood Tavern was perfectly on the way. From the start, things felt easy and relaxed. A few family members ordered the fried green tomatoes. Since they're Southern, they felt the tomatoes could've used a bit more batter--but that critique is very subjective. Flavor-wise, they still enjoyed them. Several of us had the onion soup. It leaned a little on the watery side, but it was still comforting and did its job warming us up on a cold day. My mom ordered the farmer's salad with squash, and that maple mustard vinaigrette? Chef's kiss. The flavors paired beautifully and made the dish shine. A few family members ordered the tavern burger, which was huge--easily enough for two meals. I went with the grilled rosemary chicken, which was flavorful, well-cooked, and very satisfying. We didn't even make it to dessert because everyone was full, which says a lot. The ambiance was very holiday-focused and cozy, service was efficient without being rushed, and parking is metered with a two-hour limit. Overall, a solid stop with comforting food, generous portions, and a warm atmosphere. Copperwood Tavern proves that sometimes the quieter spots are absolutely worth the visit.

Lemme tell you, the Village at Shirlington is just a cute spot year-round with a multitude of shopping & dining options. I love it any & every time of the year! Saturday night, I went to Copperwood Tavern for dinner with a friend. Our server was hospitable & patient, the cocktails looked creative & delicious & there were even a few non-alcoholic options because you know, some of us choose to eat our calories instead ;) I had my trusty Tavern Burger & it was, as always, cooked to my liking (well done). My friend, however, is a vegan & unfortunately, there were only a couple salad options & vegetable sides that she could have. I didn't realized how unfortunate it was for her until I noticed her trying to figure out what to order that would be satiating with such limited options. The menu focuses on animal protein-based dishes so yes, it is the patrons' responsibility to be aware in advance. But when a guest has what's now a pretty common dietary restriction, it would be a tad more inclusive if dining establishments-in general-offered at least a couple more things beyond the one-dimensional salad. Mushrooms & lentils, for example, can easily be substituted to create hearty, flavorful alternatives to meat-centric dishes. Hopefully at least one vegan entree (and perhaps even a dessert) will make it to the menu here in the near future.

I'm shocked I've never been to Copperwood Tavern because I've seen it pop up quite a few times. I have to say the service was impeccable. We had a fun and engaging waitress who definitely was the reason for the additional star but unfortunately the food left a lot to be desired. My friend ordered the Braised Rabbit but stated that he was unaware that it was more so pasta focused. He thought it would be more rabbit focused since it wasn't really advertised on the menu as a pasta dish. I ordered the Duck Breast which could have been amazing but was very underseasoned. We had the duck deviled eggs appetizer which were solid but doesn't vary too much from typical deviled eggs. The highlight was the short rib appetizer which was very flavorful. All in all, the restaurant was spacious and the service was great but the food didn't live up to other factors unfortunately. However, i would be open to returning in case this is a one off since I did like the variety on the menu.

We stopped here for a more casual dinner before our movie and were pleasantly surprised! Really great atmosphere, very lively and cozy and I like the farmhouse decor. Great menu and our server was so friendly! I got the Mac and cheese and it was divine! The seafood linguini was a big hit as well. Would definitely recommend for a solid tavern experience and I hope to return!

My first time here for breakfast/brunch. Seated immediately with no wait and greeted by wait staff. Brought out water and menus and she gave great recommendations. I had the short rib hash which was actually pretty good and filling. I had to salt and pepper it up but I didn't mind. My wife had the chicken and waffles which also was pretty good. She ordered a side of eggs which she didn't like at all. Also friends with us ordered the deviled eggs and they didn't like at all either. Otherwise a very filling and pleasant experience as always here.

The food was great, everything we ordered was good, and the service was friendly and efficient. No complaints at all! It's a solid go-to in Shirlington for good food and a comfortable atmosphere. Parking in the area can get a little tricky at times, but overall it's a great experience every visit.

Quick stop at the bar between appts and was disappointed - service was inattentive and not very friendly but rescued by a second better bartender (didn't get names but he was taller than the first), the mushroom crostini was bleh as they used canned mushrooms, not great. And the old fashioned was okay but full of ice

One of the nicer places In Shirlington. Stopped by for a quick bite, sat at the bar and it was a nice experience. The ambiance was nice and the service was very good. I had the crab soup and it was delicious. Definitely will be back.

This was my first time visiting this rustic cabin themed restaurant. I like the decor. There was no wait on a Friday late afternoon for 2, so that was a plus. They serve popcorn as a complimentary item, which I think is pretty cool. I'm not a huge fan of the flavor. Plain butter would have been just fine. Ordered the seafood pasta and Parmesan crusted trout. When we inquired about a side of spinach to go with the pasta we were told it would be a whopping $10 extra, so needless to say, we skipped the spinach. The portion of the pasta dish was on the smaller side. The Parmesan crusted trout was very good, crust was cooked perfectly. I'd return and try something different.

I really enjoy when I visit a place and there's a new experience available. That said, the BBQ popcorn as a complimentary starter was unexpectedly amazing. I also tried a sorbet mimosa for the first time and ended up with two. I was there for a birthday and we had a large group. I was pleasantly surprised to find that we could all sit together and that they could split our checks. Everything my family had was delicious. The baked brie, banana foster French toast, short rib Benedict, the shrimp and grits, the blueberry ricotta and the kids breakfast platter, were all eaten without any notes. However, another family ordered the fried green tomatoes and felt it was bland. Other than that, everyone enjoyed their meals overall. If I could make suggest one thing that would make this a 5-star experience, it would be to offer a concession for the special guest that brought so many new patrons to your restaurant. My husband brought a wonderful cake for me so I wouldn't expect a dessert but I'm sure there are so many other ways to show gratitude and encourage others to want to bring groups to celebrate there.

A really nice looking restaurant inside. A bar is also readily available for seating. Came for lunch visiting my son in town. Got the Spicy Chicken Sandwich with fries. Cooked perfectly and loved the pickled toppings. Fries are hand cut and delish.

Do they still have high backed booths for seating in the back section (or anywhere else) in the restaurant?

Yes they do, about 3 or 4 booths are still there with the high backs.

Do they have a gluten free menu, the reviews are mixed?

Do they offer delivery? I swear they used to be on Uber Eats but now don't see them.

We are on UberEats, DoorDash, and GrubHub

Do they still have oysters on their happy hour menu for a dollar?

Not sure but the ones I had for full price were so microscopic, they were worth about 50 cents.

We were celebrating an old friend's birthday, so I wanted a special evening. We went to the Signature to see "Safety Not Guaranteed" which was so good and so much fun. Then on to dinner at Carlyle in Shirlington. Carlyle always pumps out some of the most satisfying meals. You are almost guaranteed to love what the kitchen presents you with. This event was no different. I started with the crab & corn chowder. Thick, luxurious, savory perfection! My main course was Jambalaya Pasta which was outstanding. The chicken was moist, the shrimp was perfectly prepared and the andouille sausage added a perfect piquant note. The creamy sauce finished a great dish. There was so much that I could not eat it all (and I usually eat everything that is placed in front of me). But the best - the ABSOLUTE BEST - part of the evening was our perfect server Sebastian. He was professional, friendly, fast, funny, helpful and everything you want in a server. Plus, he did it all with one of the best personalities that I have ever come across in a server. At one point, we were all laughing so hard, that he had to sit down because he was ready to fall over. He served us, yes! But more than that - he ENTERTAINED US!!!! How often has that ever happened to you??? It is a night that I will not soon forget! Sebastian is a smart guy who will no doubt go far in his life. But, for now, for right now, he is at the top of his game at Carlyle! If you love Carlyle, you will absolutely LOVE Sebastian. Please ask to be placed in his station. I promise he will not disappoint you. Thank you, Sebastian, for making my evening wonderful and for making my BFF's birthday dinner a stunning success, thanks to you!!!! The staff was wonderful, especially our server Noah, who was incredibly attentive and made the experience even better. We did the bottomless dinner, and the value is honestly unbeatable. We tried the grilled gem lettuce, marinated cucumbers, street corn, hoisin-glazed pork belly bao buns, P22 cheeseburger sliders, spicy shrimp & pancetta pizza, funghi pizza, dan dan noodles, rigatoni norcina, and the sesame steak skewers. Everything was delicious, but the standouts were the dan dan noodles (rich, savory, and packed with flavor), the funghi pizza (crispy with earthy mushrooms and perfectly melted cheese), and the sesame steak skewers (tender, juicy, and coated in a flavorful sesame glaze). The hoisin-glazed pork belly bao buns were soft, fluffy, and packed with melt-in-your-mouth pork, while the rigatoni norcina was creamy, comforting, and perfectly cooked. The grilled gem lettuce was also a fresh, flavorful way to start the meal. For drinks, the white sangria and pomegranate ginger mocktail were both refreshing and delicious. Dessert didn't disappoint either, the flourless chocolate cake (with candied pecans instead of hazelnuts) was rich without feeling too heavy, and the churros were light, crispy, and perfect with the caramel and chocolate dipping sauces. We finished with cappuccinos, which were the perfect ending to the meal. 10/10 experience, we'll definitely be back!

My wife and I arrived around 1:20 p.m. on a Thursday. The lunch crowd was still going strong, which only reinforced that we had picked a popular spot. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill almost immediately. When we walked in, there was no hostess to be found. After waiting about four minutes, she finally appeared and offered us a choice between a small table in the corner or one by the bar. Given how busy the restaurant was, we took the table by the bar. About seven minutes later, someone finally came by to offer us water and explained that our server was busy, but she would help us in the meantime. No problem. We ordered the Avo Goddess Salad and asked that it be split so we could share it. A few minutes later, our server arrived, introduced herself, and we let her know we had already ordered the salad and were ready to place our lunch orders. She was very helpful in guiding my wife toward the Old Bay Shrimp Burger. I was excited to order the Shrimp and Grits until I learned it contained Andouille sausage and, according to our server, couldn't be prepared without it. Since the restaurant highlights that everything is made from scratch, that surprised me. I ended up ordering the Ahi Tuna Salad instead. So far, so good. Then came the frustration. We spent the next 20 minutes slowly picking at our salad, growing increasingly hungry and confused. You know something is wrong when guests who were seated after you begin receiving their meals before you. Finally, at 2:10 p.m., our food arrived: my Ahi Tuna Salad and a Pulled Lamb Sandwich for my wife. Except my wife had ordered the Shrimp Burger. When we pointed out the mistake to what was now our third server, she quickly assured us it would be corrected. A few minutes later, our original server returned and took full responsibility. She explained that the lamb and shrimp items are next to each other in the POS system and she accidentally selected the wrong item. She assured us the Shrimp Burger would be out in two minutes and suggested we enjoy the fries that came with the lamb sandwich while we waited. Unfortunately, another ten minutes passed before the burger finally arrived. Here's where things became truly disappointing: the top bun was still cold--almost frozen. My wife ended up removing it entirely and eating the sandwich with just the bottom bun. At best, the Shrimp Burger was decent, but certainly not worth the wait and frustration. As for my Ahi Tuna Salad, it felt like something I could easily make at home, especially considering the $25 price tag. I'm also not entirely convinced the tuna was particularly fresh. I can't bring myself to give Matt and Tony's one star because the atmosphere is genuinely cool and inviting. So I settled on two stars--mostly for how I felt before the experience unraveled. And listen, I get it. Mistakes happen. We're all human. But as someone who eats out frequently, here's one piece of advice: when a restaurant makes a significant mistake with a customer's order, consider taking that item off the bill. Sometimes that gesture is the only reason a guest decides to come back.

That thoughtfulness is one of the many reasons I was excited to try it. When we arrived, I was initially concerned after learning that the "G" on the menu indicated dishes **containing** gluten rather than being gluten-free. Since many menu items were marked with a "G," I worried my options would be very limited, especially for the unlimited brunch experience. Thankfully, our server, Emma, immediately put me at ease. She brought me the food allergy menu, answered my questions with patience, and made sure I understood what was safe for me to enjoy. While my husband and I were deciding whether to stay, the manager, Antonio, came to our table after Emma shared my dietary concerns. His kindness completely changed the experience. He took the time to explain my options, offered to have the kitchen modify several dishes, and reassured me that their goal was for me to feel safe and enjoy my meal. Thanks to Emma and Antonio, what started with uncertainty became one of the most enjoyable brunch experiences I've had. I was able to enjoy a variety of delicious dishes, the mimosas were a great value, and the restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful, with floor-to-ceiling windows that fill the space with natural light. What I'll remember most, though, is how genuinely cared for I felt. Before we left, Antonio stopped by one last time to make sure I was happy with my meal and that all of my needs had been met. My husband had put so much love and intention into choosing this restaurant, and thanks to Emma and Antonio, we both left with happy hearts and full bellies. If you have food intolerances or dietary restrictions, I hope this review gives you confidence to visit Ambar. Their team didn't just accommodate my needs. They made me feel welcome, respected, and cared for. That's the kind of hospitality that earns five stars from me.

New: TG corn ribs. Delicious and creative (see my picture). It's a new interpretation of corn on…read morethe cob. Mixed grill is now more expensive (as part of the Ambar Experience at Home set: grill). Though now you can choose individual ingredients (chicken, lamb and so on as opposed to mixed grill which is no + $4) Baklava shrunk! In the past the portion was generous. Now: only 3 tiny pieces.
