Booked a reservation here for a Friday night while working a convention in DC. We have been to several ramen/sushi places in the past, and this was another one we hadn't tried. Upon checking in we were sat at a 4 top and placed drink orders. We ordered sushi to start - I ordered a wagyu type sushi which was good. We also added a couple of rounds of dumplings which came out barely warm. For my entree I ordered a miso ramen- I asked for it without mushrooms. The taste was good. Amazing experience! Love their Cherry Blossom Sushi. Super fresh, perfect size , excellent presentation. Rolls were pretty tight, rice didn't fall apart unlike other places. 45 minutes. No food. Almost no service. What a frustrating experience. I honestly don't understand how a restaurant that was practically empty at 9 PM on a weekday could take nearly 50 minutes to serve one person -- but somehow, that's exactly what happened. I placed my first order and waited more than 15 minutes before the waitress finally came back to tell me that the item I ordered was unavailable. No problem -- things sell out. So I placed a second order. Then I waited. And waited. And waited. After an unreasonable amount of time, I had to go looking for my own server because apparently checking on a customer who has been sitting there without food isn't part of the service. My server was chatting with other servers at the front, while I was sitting at my table waiting for my food. And this wasn't just about the food. Throughout my entire dine-in experience, I had to physically get up and walk over to my server three separate times just to get what I needed. Whether I wanted to check on my order, get something for my table, or simply get assistance, no one came by. I had to find someone myself. And did I mentioned, the 3rd time I went to her, she was chatting at the front with other servers, where there were no customers, and even worse, that is a wall between the front room and back room (main dinning room), so there was no way to see how the customers are doing. The seating experience was just as bizarre. I was dining alone, and the server tried to seat me in a dark, hidden corner -- twice. The restaurant was practically empty, with plenty of other tables available. I completely understand that restaurants can get busy. I understand that orders can be delayed. I understand that items can be unavailable. What I don't understand is 40-50 minutes with no food, almost no communication, and staff standing around hiding and chatting while a customer is waiting. If you're going to make a customer wait that long, the bare minimum is to acknowledge the delay, communicate, and actually check on the table. Instead, I felt completely ignored and forgotten. Extremely disappointing service, and unfortunately, not an experience I'd want to repeat. read more

My friend got the omakase set and he seemed to really enjoy everything he got. The menu (with pictures) look very appetizing, and the meals are adequately depicted, BUT...there are some issues. Although it was not busy, the delay in getting our meal was a bit disturbing. The rice was cold and our colleague's meal was delayed to the point that by the time I finished my meal, his was still "being prepared." He cancelled his order as the delay was long. I was staying in Crystal City and walked over a mile out here specifically because this restaurant participates in the Dining Rewards Program, so by eating here I could earn my regular credit card miles along with American Airlines miles. By the time I arrived I was hot and tired and really looking forward to some good sushi. What I got was really meh. My server was very nice, and I was quite impressed with her mastery of the menu. When I asked her about different rolls, she knew from memory which ones came with six pieces or eight, and explained the size of the rolls to me so I could decide between large six pieces and eight regular pieces. I felt she checked up on me often enough. What was disappointing to me -- and the reason I'm only giving three stars -- is the food. And I might not have reviewed this place at all, except it offers an omakase option on the menu, which invites you customers to trust the chef to offer a great culinary experience. Offering omakase suggests that they are confident in their sushi skills. After eating here, I would say that confidence is a bit misplaced. My main gripe is how moist (borderline soggy) the sushi rice was on both my rolls. Sushi rice should not be dry. It should be a bit sticky, clump together. This requires adequate moisture. But it should not be soggy, as mine was. It really took away from my enjoyment. Secondly, I don't think the flavors and the texture of the sushi here is that great. It's not horrible, but compared to other places, I would say it's below average. There are two ways to approach sushi. The traditional Japanese way, which focuses on fresh ingredients and simple prep, or the American way where the flavor is not in the fresh fish but in the sauces and extras included in the roll along with the fish. The sushi here is prepped American style but the flavor was lacking to me. I ordered a California roll and instead of using mixed crab in a mayo, they straight up just cut imitation crab stick. To me that really takes away from the flavor. Maybe I'm being too picky. I'm no expert on sushi. But I've eaten it often enough to know what I like. And I feel there is better sushi to be had elsewhere. read more

I went to this establishment on 3/17/25 and I ordered I believe spicy salmon, yellowtail with cream cheese, and another roll I can't quite remember but a tuna roll. It was during lunch time so the restaurant was empty and because I was by myself I decided to sit at the bar. The waiter was nice and ensure I had what I needed even though one roll was incorrect. The sushi was pretty fresh and the lunch prices was not that bad, but the parking situation just make sure you have some quarters to feed the meter. Both were good, but unfortunately I got a bad oyster. This can happen this time of year when it is the "off season" for oysters (no R in the month). But that did not spoil a good starter. Upon entering, we got seated right away and the server gave us some tap water. In terms of beer, it was cool to see Kirin Ichiban light! My husband loved it. I was in the mood for a Coke Zero but they only have Diet Coke, it will do lololol. My husband got the tea pot soup and we weren't sure if we could share, so I just let him have it. But honestly, how you eat it - it could have been a great starter for two people. For entrees I decided to get the spicy miso ramen, shit spicy yall. Had the pepper stuck in my throat for a second and my ear holes were burning! Lololol. It was very ramen noodle forward and the bamboo shoots taste definitely take over the broth. I personally might skip them next time. So, ya girl was feeling greedy and decided to get the sashimi sampler - 12 pieces. I decided to eat the sashimi first and I couldn't even finish the ramen. Went to Kusshi the night before Thanksgiving to check out a new sushi spot my date raved about. It is located in a really nice shopping center behind Pentagon City. The aesthetics were really nice in there. The sushi was pretty good, as well as, the spicy edamame. The only thing I would say needed work was the service. The server took about 10 mins to greet us, never gave his name, and it took us about 15 mins to find him when we were finished and ready to go. The restaurant was not that busy. The pork gyoza was good. The crunch roll was okay, but wasn't really a fan of the imitation crabstick they used in the sushi.
