    Tonkotsu Ramen

***TASTE OF JAPAN IN THE DMV???*** Came in to a well lit Japanese ramen spot. The decor was more Japanese modern with a heavy western influence but you could feel the subtle Japanese influences. Does this pass as an authentic Japanese izakaya no but it is the closest I've gotten so far after leaving Japan . The drinks they had made to order were heavily influenced by Japanese culture and that became apparent when they served Sapporo on draft and in cans. They also had Sapporo black which I have not seee n since I was in Japan. The gyozas were an order of 6 for $9 and were good but they are friend not steamed. That did not stop the flavor from bustin through and being some of the best in the area. The takoyaki was just like the street vendors in Osaka with a subtle twist. These ones were cooked to perfection! Now for the star of the show! The Tonkotsu Ramen was almost as good as the local spot near my Japanese apartment. The flavor had a little missing but overall for a quick bite this is the best in the DMV. The chef did not speak English but the ramen was a large bowl that could have been shared with two people and neither would be hungry. Everything was served quickly and the only thing I would change is the amount of people talking since in traditional Japanese restaurants there is none... ****OVERALL 8/10 and only not a 10/10 because the flavor was just slightly off since the equipment hasn't been used everyday for 50 years and the recipes were not passed down from the ancestors of Feudal Japan.****

It's not every day that you'll hear me say that anything is the 'best' anything. In this case, I'll have to do just that and say this: These guys serve the BEST ramen I've ever had, both in Australia and the U.S. I'm referring specifically to their shio ramen, with the glorious toppings consisting of chashu, bamboo shoots, shallots, egg, nori, fish cakes, and more. The chicken broth may not have the depth of a typical donkotsu broth, but it's a perfect blend of clean, lean, minimally fatty, savory broth that effortlessly envelops fresh ramen noodles. Private parking at rear of the shop is limited but street parking is all around and not terribly hard to secure, and honestly, I would gladly park a mile away and walk if I had to, if it meant that I would be able to reunite with my beloved shio ramen. Until next time, I hope they get much love from locals and stay open for another century.

A buddy and I were craving Ramen one night; but instead of sticking to the usual Bethesda area, we decided to check out the Arlington area. Personally, I was amazed to see so many Ramen spots in this area. The only downside is they have such limited hours, so you really have to choose a time outside of your normal workday to drive down and appreciate what the Arlington area has to offer. As we were driving towards the restaurant, we realized that it was getting close to closing time. My friend literally stopped at a light; I got out of the car, jumped over a road barrier, almost falling, but went to see if I could reserve a table. Even though we arrived there at 9:30, they were really accommodating to still serve my friend and I. The restaurant itself was clean and slick, really paying homage to the minimalist design style. You'll see different kinds of decorations adorned the walls, and my personal favorite aesthetic, the paper lanterns illuminating the room. We ordered the vegetarian Ramen. I thought it was flavorful, especially for a clear broth soup base. I've become so used to the creamy broth, that I wanted to try something a little more lighter. The noodles were fresh, so were with the vegetables. I always have to have a marinated egg with mine. It really adds a level of umami to it. Mind you this was before eggs became outrageously expensive. Even though I wasn't able to finish the whole thing, I still had enough to take for lunch, and it still tasted awesome. I would definitely want to come back and try their vegetarian roll menu. Check this place out either with friends, family, or even as a date night, but just be mindful of the times as some of these places may not be open till late; but you won't be disappointed!

we had a large party and everybody enjoyed their Ramen and sushi. The service was great and the food was amazing! Such a cute restaurant as well.

OH.MY.GOSH! I had kept reading about Boru on Reddit threads about NOVA ramen. All the praise is true. The Tonkatsu broth is rich and creamy. The portion is huge. The chasu is so tender it is falling apart. I only have superlatives and the price is so reasonable. I got a side of pork belly as they offer that as a ramen, very tender. I think Boru has taken the top spot for Arlington ramen for me!!

We've dined here twice and have enjoyed it every time! BUTA KAKUNI $15 - Silky pork bone broth, ramen noodle, buta kakuni (sweet pork belly), seaweed, egg, bamboo shoot, scallion and roasted. The sweet pork belly was so so good and the bamboo shoots were delicious. TANTAN-MEN $15 - Hot and spicy ramen noodles soup, egg, bamboo shoot, scallions & roasted sesame seeds in silky pork bone broth. + Spicy minced pork TanTan with Peanuts. The broth is so good and this is our favorite. HOUSE SPICY MISO $15 - Awase miso, pork broth, ramen noodle, pork chashu, corn, egg, bamboo shoot, scallion and roasted sesame Other things to note: - Easy to walk in and get a seat. - Food comes out incredibly fast. - Staff is attentive and very friendly. - Easy street parking.

Ambiance: (5/5) nice seating, and I really enjoyed the fact that you can see the kitchen through the glass. It added a nice touch. Price: (4/5) prices seem reasonable for the area however I thought it was a little odd to charge $1.50 for not even a full small sauce container worth of chili oil. Food: (4/5) I really enjoyed the Ramen I had. Mine was already spicy for the menu so I didn't have to pay the up charge on the chili oil. I thought the meat was cooked well and the broth was flavor. The portion sizes seem average. Service: (5/5) great service, food came out quick.

Amazing sushi great service, super clean and beautiful place. I recommend it ..... And it's a nice place to watch football or any game

This place was absolutely amazing! We started with the crispy chicken wings as an appetizer perfectly tender and flavorful, the meat practically fell off the bone. My daughter ordered the Shio Tantan Ramen with spicy minced pork and pork chasu (she skips the toppings because she's quirky like that), and she loved every bite. I went with the Seven Ocean Set, and every piece of fish was fresh and delicious. On top of the incredible food, the customer service was excellent friendly, attentive, and welcoming. I honestly can't rave enough about this spot. It's the kind of place you enjoy so much that you're already planning your next visit before you even leave. I'll definitely be back, and I highly recommend you come experience it too!

Under new ownership Boru is beautiful and sophisticated! And the food...the Dynamite Mussels are amazing, Boru Balls are delicious, and the Fried Ice Cream, incredible. Not to mention the very fresh and delicious sushi, and the always flavorful ramen. And very attentive and caring service. Highly recommend!

My partner and I love this place so much! It's easy to get to even if parking in the area isn't the best, and we can always get a seat. I love the tonkotsu ramen, and adding a little bit of the (very spicy) chili oil. Don't dump the whole thing in there unless you're a x2 or x3 Buldak ramen spicy kind of person. But, the staff are always on top of water/other refills, clearing the table, and just checking in. The boru balls are also super fun, highly recommended trying them once.

Ate here while visiting DC. The food was fantastic! Really enjoyed the broth, it was rich and flavorful. Service was great as well! Our waitress was nice. Place is very clean and such a chill vibe. Definitely would recommend stopping by! There's parking in the back of the building

How pricey is it?and do they serve a chicken dish my mom has really bad pork and steak allergies?

Most of the ramen bowls are $12 but the shrimp and crab ones are more. There are some chicken dishes without pork or beef. Check out the menu on their website.

While we were there multiple larger parties arrived so it does look like they can handle the larger crowds. We were seated closer to the sushi bar/kitchen area but it appeared that there was a larger dining area on the other end of the restaurant. Food wise, i highly recommend the sweet shrimp and scallop sushi! The pieces melted like butter and tasted so creamy! The rice quantity is on the bigger side as well as the portions so be careful when ordering. The ramen was also a hit along with the aged tofu! Those were my top favorites!! Service was decent! Nothing over the top, our server checked in a few times, and the overall service wasn't too slow given the crowd. There is no dedicated parking lot so street parking is it for this area. However, we parked in a garage and it was about a 5-7 min walk so not bad if that's the route you want to go.

My husband and I dined in for the first time today, and we were both very impressed with the atmosphere and friendly, attentive staff. Hayden was our server, and he showed exemplary hospitality skills. He made us feel welcome, checked in on us frequently without feeling overbearing, and made sure we knew the AYCE menu is double-sided. Speaking of, the AYCE is such a great deal! I used to live in Vegas, where AYCE sushi is very common. Unfortunately, for most of them, since the focus is on quantity, the quality suffers. This is not the case for Toryumon! Maybe it's because it isn't strictly an AYCE place. You can absolutely order items a-la-carte from their regular menu (as I had done previously for take-out). The items are exactly the same whether you order from the regular menu or the AYCE. Same quality, and, this is important, same size! Yes, you will receive a FULL-SIZED bowl of ramen if you order it from the AYCE menu. Not all of the menu items have descriptions, and I was surprised by some of them (not in a bad way, just wasn't what I was expecting), such as: The avocado salad. I was expecting it to be cubes/chunks of avocado tossed with a dressing. What came out was a lettuce salad with sliced avocado on top. The dressing was good, slightly sweet. It was a good salad, just not at all what I was expecting. The sweet potato sushi roll is served warm, the sweet potato is deep fried, and there is eel sauce on top. The sweet potato rolls I had other places were not fried, and served cold. I really enjoyed this one! Everything seemed very fresh, not a hint of wilting greens or brown avocado to be seen! I am so grateful to live right down the road from this amazing establishment. If you enjoy ramen, sushi, and other Japanese items, def give them a try! There are bathrooms available for guests. What my stars mean: 5 is outstanding, memorable, a place to write home about! A must-experience. Someplace I would love to recommend to tourists, and visit myself again and again. 4 is great, somewhere I'd love to return again and again. Back-up recommendation for tourists. 3 is good. A solid option if I am in the area. I may recommend to locals, but would probably leave it off my list of recommendations for tourists. 2 is ok, but only because it a great value, unique, and/or convenient. 1 means I would not return.
