Came here on monday night and there was still plenty of seating for a large group! We ordered a ton of rolls and the Miso ramen. The ramen was just ok. The specialty rolls were our favorites! Good prices but service was kind of slow

I loved it. Felt like i could imagine what it would be like to eat in a small place in japan.

Takeshi is close enough to by office that I frequently go to there to reward myself. Their prices are reasonable (a ramen bowl is about $15) but most importantly their food is delicious. I don't get why this place is not jam packed every single say for lunch; maybe they get a lot of online orders. Their fish is fresh and the sushi is superb. Their staff is so nice! Do not miss going to this place.

Amazing sushi place tucked away near Courthouse! Curry ramen was new and a set option came with a hand roll. Sushi rolls were delicious too and everything came out quickly

If there is a Japanese restaurant near Clarendon that feels like you're eating at a home kitchen with good, honest Japanese food, including fresh tasting sushi or a hot bowl of ramen or udon or Japanese curry, this is the place. Not like so many pseudo-Japanese restaurants who put up the flags in Japanese proclaiming what they specialize in only to find that the restaurant had no idea what those flags said, the flags that are here actually mean something - they do actually have donburi and ramen and sushi. This is a small but cozy environment with an intimate sushi bar and tables that are set just the right distance from one another. Many couples are here on a date or an intimate weekend dinner, or someone is just reading a book while having a bottle of sake and sushi. This is that place - no nonsense, good food, ever in bloom cherry blossoms cheering you up no matter the temperature outside. I will be back to Takeshi in a heartbeat as there are few Japanese places like this in Clarendon or Arlington - authentic, not pretentious, good and wholesome food, and a sushi chef who clearly cares about his work, taking the time to make the nigiri or handroll just right.

Good sushi spot in Arlington. We stopped in here for a late night dinner. Had really fresh sushi. I got the Salmon Lover and it was really good. A lot of fresh salmon. My wife got the Spicy Miso Ramen which had good flavor, but the chicken in it was fried, which was a little off and soggy. Others in our party got the Titanic and Spicy Tuna rolls and they liked them. The atmosphere was fine, nothing special, and the service was just ok. I'd prefer Toryumon over this for the ramen for sure. Sushi was similar at both, but maybe a little fresher at Takeshi. Probably won't be disappointed at either.

We've gotten takout from Takeshi a couple of times. They do a good job with fresh, classic maki at reasonable prices, plus they have a lot of vegetarian options (for those in your crowd who don't want fish).

Takeshi Sushi opened up in the old Subway spot, and they serve various appetizers, soups, salads, ramen, sushi and roll sets, sashimi, dons, and other platters. We came here for an early lunch, and we ordered: +a She is so Hot Roll - spicy tuna and cucumber, topped with salmon and jalapeno pepper on top, with a drop of sriracha; definitely for those who like spicy +a 007 Roll - with spicy crab and cucumber, topped with cooked shrimp and avocado +an America Roll - with shrimp tempura, cucumber, crab, cooked shrimp, and avocado; it didn't stat that there was any eel on here, but I was pleasantly surprised that there was some slices of unagi on the top +a Rainbow Roll +a Hamachi Kama - this grilled yellowtail collar was of great value, and I liked that they had split into 3 pieces for easier consumption; this was delicate and flakey, with a light drizzle of a teriyaki-like sauce; I wished this was smoked or was cooked a little longer, as there were some red/bloody parts; requesting more of a heavier teriyaki drizzle would have been great Overall, the makis were okay, and much better than what I had envisioned or expected for this Chinese-owned and -operated sushi spot. While service was welcoming and friendly, we did have to wait about 30 minutes or so to get our food, so definitely not a place to consider if you're in a rush. There's limited metered/paid parking around the area. +friendly staff +slow service +paid/metered parking in the area

TL;DR - 3/5. I wouldn't expect much from their sushi, but their appetizers seem to be great value. Food: 2/5 * Ordered a sushi set and hamachi kama * Hamachi kama was a bit on the drier side - The value is great however (It's $10 only.) * For the sushi set, the sushi rice wasn't properly treated (It's just rice.) * In terms of sake, their Dassai 45 300ml goes for $29. Not worth it. Service: 5/5 * Good service. Ambiance: 5/5 * It isn't a fancy sushi place, and as such I feel the vibe is fine.

This is a cozy little restaurant that you will most probably miss if you aren't looking for it. Food - Good. The sushi was good, and their chicken curry was delicious Service - Good Parking - They do not have their own specific parking space, but parking can be found nearby. Overall, this place is good.

This place was amazing! I loved everything I had. We got edamame and a green salad with sesame dressing for appetizers. 10 out 10. I was worried about the sesame dressing but it was so good. We shared a sushi for 2. The nigiri was so good. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. We had 2 rolls (I can't remember what they were) but they were delicious as well. Service was great. We did go right when they opened for dinner (4:30) so they weren't super busy. I loved the decorations and the ambiance. So cute and just a great experience.

They are a very obscure looking place, which is hard to find. Even after arrival the sign on the door points to a different door, which is for an Indian restaurant. 1. Reservation: not needed, so many empty tables 2. Food: 3.5 stars. It is simply okay. Nothing special. - Rolls: i did not like any of them. - Ramen: was okay, but extremely salty. Wondered if it was simmering for so long because they don't have too many customers. - Chicken curry was very similar to indian curry more so than Japanese. 3. Service: polite 4. Ambience: casual I don't think I will come back. But it is an option if you are in the area and need a quick bite.

My husband and I dined in for the first time today, and we were both very impressed with the atmosphere and friendly, attentive staff. Hayden was our server, and he showed exemplary hospitality skills. He made us feel welcome, checked in on us frequently without feeling overbearing, and made sure we knew the AYCE menu is double-sided. Speaking of, the AYCE is such a great deal! I used to live in Vegas, where AYCE sushi is very common. Unfortunately, for most of them, since the focus is on quantity, the quality suffers. This is not the case for Toryumon! Maybe it's because it isn't strictly an AYCE place. You can absolutely order items a-la-carte from their regular menu (as I had done previously for take-out). The items are exactly the same whether you order from the regular menu or the AYCE. Same quality, and, this is important, same size! Yes, you will receive a FULL-SIZED bowl of ramen if you order it from the AYCE menu. Not all of the menu items have descriptions, and I was surprised by some of them (not in a bad way, just wasn't what I was expecting), such as: The avocado salad. I was expecting it to be cubes/chunks of avocado tossed with a dressing. What came out was a lettuce salad with sliced avocado on top. The dressing was good, slightly sweet. It was a good salad, just not at all what I was expecting. The sweet potato sushi roll is served warm, the sweet potato is deep fried, and there is eel sauce on top. The sweet potato rolls I had other places were not fried, and served cold. I really enjoyed this one! Everything seemed very fresh, not a hint of wilting greens or brown avocado to be seen! I am so grateful to live right down the road from this amazing establishment. If you enjoy ramen, sushi, and other Japanese items, def give them a try! There are bathrooms available for guests. What my stars mean: 5 is outstanding, memorable, a place to write home about! A must-experience. Someplace I would love to recommend to tourists, and visit myself again and again. 4 is great, somewhere I'd love to return again and again. Back-up recommendation for tourists. 3 is good. A solid option if I am in the area. I may recommend to locals, but would probably leave it off my list of recommendations for tourists. 2 is ok, but only because it a great value, unique, and/or convenient. 1 means I would not return.

Before the food came out, the sushi chefs plopped a plate of simple mini California rolls for us to eat while waiting. Free of charge of course. My partner got the Gyu-Don and it was also delicious. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because ppl who came after us got their food before my partner got his Gyu-Don; seemed like the kitchen forgot? So i got my roll before he got his meal, but after we mentioned it, it came out a few mins later. Definitely a yummy place, though. The set- up and the ambiance is very comfortable and sleek/modern with the main sushi chefs in the middle and the tables around them. The tables have waiters and a tablet at the table like most hot pot/kbbq places and you can order everything off of there. I have only been here once and wanted to try to low tier without going "all in" on the top tier option of diamond without knowing how the basics would taste. Let me say if the bottom tier was as good as it was, I'm excited to come back to try the next tier! Anyway, the basic tier already comes with a lot of sushi options and should be enough for those who are craving just sushi. All of the cuts of nigiri was great, all tender with great flavor, but what stood out to me the most was actually the yellowtail, super buttery and great flavor. The eel was also a top choice! All the rolls were good basic to the fancier ones, I would say that most of the bang for the buck would be the nigiri. The rolls are good but a little too much rice for me personally. The appetizers, didn't spend too much time on them but the chicken karaage was solid and the seaweed salad was my two favorite. Overall, super solid for the price and I'd totally want to go again to try more of their options! 100% recommend!

I wasn't happy when the hostess tried that stupid restaurant trick where they try to seat you at the worst and smallest table (which did not have an umbrella) when most of the other tables are available. But I insisted on, and received, a better table. For a starter we ordered the Pok Pok wings, hoping that they were like the amazing and wonderful Pok Pok wings that were at the now long-gone Andy Ricker Pok Pok restaurants in Portland, OR. Hawker's Pok Pok chicken wings were not like the Portland Pok Pok wings but nonetheless, Hawker's Pok Pok (party) wings were excellent. We loved the flavors and the crispy battered texture. We also ordered the Crispy Wontons. These gingery babies were pleasantly plump. For an entrée, JP ordered the lamb udon and thought it was delicious. I ordered the chicken and shrimp Phad Thai. It also was tasty, perhaps a little on the spicy hot side. Lastly, I ordered a pork belly bun (the order comes with two steamed buns). These came with mustard greens. I thought the buns were just okay. The steamed buns should've been more fluffy and the five spice seasoning on the pork was pretty overwhelming. But yet, considering that service was decent and there's enough good stuff on the menu, we will be back.
