The place is very cute and quaint but I ate back at the office. The woman working the front was so sweet and made sure I had everything I wanted. I've never had a sweet potato roll, but it was DELICIOUS. Spicy salmon is always a go to for me and it didn't disappoint either. I'm also a big lover of seaweed salad. If there is a Japanese restaurant near Clarendon that feels like you're eating at a home kitchen with good, honest Japanese food, including fresh tasting sushi or a hot bowl of ramen or udon or Japanese curry, this is the place. Not like so many pseudo-Japanese restaurants who put up the flags in Japanese proclaiming what they specialize in only to find that the restaurant had no idea what those flags said, the flags that are here actually mean something - they do actually have donburi and ramen and sushi. This is a small but cozy environment with an intimate sushi bar and tables that are set just the right distance from one another. Many couples are here on a date or an intimate weekend dinner, or someone is just reading a book while having a bottle of sake and sushi. This is that place - no nonsense, good food, ever in bloom cherry blossoms cheering you up no matter the temperature outside. Good sushi spot in Arlington. We stopped in here for a late night dinner. Had really fresh sushi. I got the Salmon Lover and it was really good. A lot of fresh salmon. My wife got the Spicy Miso Ramen which had good flavor, but the chicken in it was fried, which was a little off and soggy. Others in our party got the Titanic and Spicy Tuna rolls and they liked them. The atmosphere was fine, nothing special, and the service was just ok. I'd prefer Toryumon over this for the ramen for sure. Sushi was similar at both, but maybe a little fresher at Takeshi. Probably won't be disappointed at either. read more

The hubby, my sister-in-law and I came here for lunch on 12/27/2023. This is a small restaurant and when we arrived there was no one else there. The server quickly brought over some waters and I immediately ordered a California roll. The California roll came out in record time and was enjoyable. The hubby got a green salad and it was quite delicious with a flavorful sesame dressing. The salad was simple with lettuce, cucumbers and sesame seeds, it was nice and fresh. For our entrees, I got the tonkotsu ramen with pork, the hubby got the same thing, but the spicy version and my sister-in-law also got the spicy tonkotsu ramen, but with chicken. We got our orders, however, my sister-in-law's order was wrong and had pork in it, she just rolled with it though. The tonkotsu was delicious! The broth was flavorful, but it could have had a more deep, rich, porky flavor, but it was great nonetheless. There was a lot of pork in the ramen and yummy all around. Service could have been better, the server didn't refill our empty water cups until asked despite an empty restaurant. Overall, he wasn't very attentive. Additionally, the menu says the ramen comes with bean sprouts and my sister-in-law asked for extra and the server said none of the ramen came with bean sprouts; they should update their menus. It was so beautifully plated, I didn't want to touch it (but of course I scarfed it down coz it was delicious). We are in the restaurant which is nicely decorated and very pleasant with the calming, spa like music playing the whole time. The service was very professional and attentive. We had the salmon lovers sushi and the sashimi appetizer. Bother we're excellent. Coming from New York I'd say it would hold its own reasonably well. Fish tasted fresh and portions were good. Really enjoyed the salmon lovers, though would like to see a little more variety in the preparations. Visually there is a lot of variety, but not as much flavor wise (maybe include spicy salmon?). I'm honestly surprised that there is a good sushi spot in Arlington. The fish quality is pretty impressive for the price point! I got the "Salmon Lover" Sushi Set, which was $20 and really worth. It comes with 3 pieces of salmon nigiri, 3 pieces of sashimi, 1 spicy salmon hand roll, and 1 regular salmon roll (6 pieces). Go to toryumon japanese house in arlington! The fish is fresher. The service is better. The restaurant is better. Every aspect of the experience is 1000 times better and the restaurants are maybe a quarter of a mile apart. I have never been so furious in my life. We have ordered from these guys many times.
