I'm team D.C. through and through and often stay within the D.C. borders to dine, but driving out to Yume Sushi in Arlington near the Falls Church border is worth it. Here's why. 1) Food: The menu can be a little overwhelming due to the range of options, but the servers do an excellent job in helping you navigate it. To feed two hungry adults, we ordered the Garlic Butter Miso Scallops, Sunomono Salad with Tiger Shrimp and a number of sushi- Creamy Scallop Roll, Arekusa Roll, A5 Wagyu Roll, Yume Roll, and the Kamikaze Roll. For dessert, we had the match crepe cake with black sesame ice cream. Everything was beautifully presented and full of flavor, but the winners were the Garlic Butter Miso Scallops and the Creamy Scallop Roll. We ordered a second serving of the Garlic Butter Miso Scallops. 2) Drinks: They have all types of drinks from sake to beer to wine to cocktails. I ordered their seasonal cocktail with elderflower liqueur and it was refreshing. 3) Service: Impeccable! The entire experience was smooth. Our server was top notch and very approachable and attentive. 4) Space: There's a mural-decorated inside with counter seats, tables, and a bar. Outside along the sidewalk are several tables. 5) Area: There's easy street parking right there and a local bookstore across the street.

Sat at the bar for the first time and had an amazing bar tender / server. I can't remember his name but he had an AMAZING manicure and excellent energy ! We asked for not-sweet cosmo's and he prepared them beautifully, and helped me remember what the gluten free dairy free options were. My mom also prefers cooked items and they have quite a few options. The Japanese sandwich is my go to - and I've never had anything like it elsewhere ! It's always clean and the vibes are high end and fun- great for families / dates / girls night etc!

My friend and I tried Yume Sushi tonight and opted for the tasting menu and it did not disappoint. Every course left us impressed (and very full!). My favorite was definitely the nigiri selection. The scallop was delicate and buttery, the toro melted in your mouth, and the wagyu nigiri was rich and indulgent without being overwhelming. Each piece felt well-balanced and beautifully prepared. Our server also created custom mocktails for us. Mine had yuzu (my favorite), it was refreshing and delightful. For the value, the tasting menu felt very fair for the quality and quantity of food. I would absolutely return, and especially if they rotate or change the menu. A really enjoyable dining experience overall.

Service was top-notch thanks to Yurii! He expertly walked us through the menu, including food, drinks, and dessert options, making the experience both informative and welcoming. The food itself was exceptional. I ordered the seared butter miso scallops, sashimi roll, and salmon lovers roll--each dish was beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious. The true standout of the evening was the seared miso scallops. Perfectly cooked, they melted in my mouth with no toughness or rubbery texture--simply outstanding. Thank you to Yurii and the entire team for an amazing first experience at your beautiful and inviting venue. I look forward to returning.

This place has good quality sushi. I have been here about six times and each time, I haven't been let down. Overall, a clutch place for sushi and date night. In the summer, you can sit out on the patio area to eat, but it is super small, so it isn't that nice.

I went here with my family for a birthday dinner, lured by the reviews and an inKind coupon for $75 off. We had appetizers, several sushi rolls and the eel bowl. It was all tasty and very well presented, with our favorite dish being the eel. Perhaps another reviewer was correct in that you should go for the tasting menu to truly experience the chef's brilliance because, honestly, we weren't really wowed by the food. It was fine. Our server was absolutely charming and attentive - no complaints there. And I'm probably too old for the restaurant's vibe because I found it way too loud. The music was peppy pop and dance (which doesn't bother me), but super loud. We could barely hold a conversation with each other at the table without yelling.

Stopped in for lunch and had a fantastic experience! The drinks were great, the service was excellent, and the sushi was fresh and divine. I ordered the lobster roll and it was so good I didn't even stop to take a picture -- which never happens! The chutoro with uni was a perfect one-bite wonder... rich, buttery, and delicious with absolutely nothing added. Definitely a spot I'll be returning to!

Tasty! but pricey, good for specialty occasions Quality wise definitely decent sushi Service was nice

Absolutely loved it! I had the other rolls, but the one that stands out the most was the creamy scallop roll! You only get a couple pieces so order two if you're hungry. I need to go back for that. I got the raw one. The avocado salad with fish added it was absolutely delicious as well ! Yume sushi is beautifully decorated, air and clean . Tables are a little bit close together but the sushi quality is amazing! Our server was really fast and on top of everything! She clearly paid attention to us and was easy to get her attention for anything we needed / wanted! The matcha ice cream was also very smooth creamy and delicious for dessert!

Let me just start by saying how disappointed in myself I am for waiting so long before I tried this spot out, esp considering Im a foodie! I popped in on a last minute solo dinner during RW a couple of weeks ago and I was THOROUGHLY impressed with my entire experience! Everything from the drinks, service, food, and presentation was AWESOME! I was truly blown away and shocked that this place isn't Michelin Star status because it for sure fit the bill for one to me! I told all of my friends and one of them was able to catch them during RW, too, and was just as blown away as I was! My waiter was awesome and well versed with the menu. I ended up trying the Matcha Espresso drink. Whew! That thing was good and STRONG! Loved it. I opted for the baby octopus salad and upgraded one of my courses to be the wagyu roll. I enjoy RW to give me the opportunity to try new spots and partake in dishes that I normally dont eat on a regular. The baby octopus salad was delish and filling! This was my first experience with foie gras and it was so good. It melted in my mouth and the caviar complemented it perfectly! I didnt have a single dish that I was dissatisfied with. Everything was behind my expectations! I grabbed a table next to a window but enjoyed the omakase experience that the owner was giving to some guests at the sushi bar! I hope to be lucky enough to experience that same joy that he exudes while creating his dishes. You could see the happiness in his smile! Parking is street but there are a couple of garages nearby, as well. I want to say that pricing was on par for what you get but, honestly, I wouldn't have been surprised if it was more. I would still pay it! I saw families there with kids but can't speak on the menu options for them. I stuck to RW and sushi. There is outside seating, too! I will definitely be back and sooner than later!

TLDR: An interesting Japanese fusion restaurant that I won't be back to. We celebrated a special occasion here. It's innovative but very overpriced for what you get. The atmosphere is modern and noisy, which is fun though a bit loud. The sushi was very good, and they appear to even smoke their own salmon for one of the items, which was amazing. But the portion to price ratio is very poor here. Their Winner dish is literally one glorified piece of Sushi for $30. It's appetizer size. Almost everything here is infused with truffle oil. If you absolutely love truffles, this is heaven. But it's too much. Leave some dishes to have truffle flavoring without overwhelming all of the meal. They charge high end restaurant prices but have a tv with sports. It's an incongruous match. People were cheering for a sports event. Either make a lower end sports bar or have a fancy restaurant. They're not the same thing. There was only 1 working bathroom for the entire restaurant. Not really ok. The service was decent. Several broken glasses, but that's not necessarily their fault. All in all, if they lower prices, remove the TV, fix the bathroom situation, don't put truffle oil on almost everything, I would be back. Otherwise there are better Japanese options in the area.

    2025 chirashi bowl
    Sharmane G.

I'm back and the quality is still as I remembered! Got the Chirashi bowl again (this is my go-to order, it seems), and the quality was great while the lavender smoked salmon pieces were uniquely a great addition. The quality is fresh and I'd say worth it's price. The service here was also fabulous and courteous. I think the vibe of the restaurant shifted slightly from formal casual to accessible luxury (lots of 24kt gold, caviar, uni and A5 wagyu on the menu). The menu was also recently updated per our server. Overall a fun date place and would recommend if you're in the mood for sushi. The parking can be a challenge (limited street parking and garage parking is hidden), so I'd allot extra time for that.

    Emily T.

Absolutely my favorite sushi restaurant in the DMV. I've been there so many times I've lost count but each time is always a great experience. I would definitely recommend that you make a reservation but also during really busy dinner times, we were usually able to get a seat within 15 minutes. They have street parking (paid) or a parking lot (free) in the back. The fish is so fresh and the presentation is always 10/10. I always get a chirashi bowl and it's such a good price for what you get! It's also so filling! The owner and staff there are always very sweet and overall this is a great place that has been consistently good in the last 2 years that I've been going.

Is the chefs tasting menu ok or better worth to get the omakase? They required a minimum party of 6 for the omakase.

Ww have discontinued the Omakase until we open KYOJIN in Georgetown. The Chef Tasting is available for parties of two or more, reservation required. The Chef Tasting is six courses for $150 per person

Where do you get your tea bags from?

Is this place good for kids? high chair available?

We do have highchairs available. Typically our music is louder on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night. If that is an issue, I would keep that in mind for when you book a reservation!

What is the price of omakase?

    $150 pp

Can two people make reservation for omakase?

Yes! It's called the chef's tasting menu. Non traditional Japanese styled dishes curated by Chef Saran.

Is there a kids menu? What can toddlers order/eat?

In my opinion, not as great place for toddlers. Get a babysitter and have a nice night at this very cool spot.

Hayden was our server, and he showed exemplary hospitality skills. He made us feel welcome, checked in on us frequently without feeling overbearing, and made sure we knew the AYCE menu is double-sided. Speaking of, the AYCE is such a great deal! I used to live in Vegas, where AYCE sushi is very common. Unfortunately, for most of them, since the focus is on quantity, the quality suffers. This is not the case for Toryumon! Maybe it's because it isn't strictly an AYCE place. You can absolutely order items a-la-carte from their regular menu (as I had done previously for take-out). The items are exactly the same whether you order from the regular menu or the AYCE. Same quality, and, this is important, same size! Yes, you will receive a FULL-SIZED bowl of ramen if you order it from the AYCE menu. Not all of the menu items have descriptions, and I was surprised by some of them (not in a bad way, just wasn't what I was expecting), such as: The avocado salad. I was expecting it to be cubes/chunks of avocado tossed with a dressing. What came out was a lettuce salad with sliced avocado on top. The dressing was good, slightly sweet. It was a good salad, just not at all what I was expecting. The sweet potato sushi roll is served warm, the sweet potato is deep fried, and there is eel sauce on top. The sweet potato rolls I had other places were not fried, and served cold. I really enjoyed this one! Everything seemed very fresh, not a hint of wilting greens or brown avocado to be seen! I am so grateful to live right down the road from this amazing establishment. If you enjoy ramen, sushi, and other Japanese items, def give them a try! There are bathrooms available for guests. What my stars mean: 5 is outstanding, memorable, a place to write home about! A must-experience. Someplace I would love to recommend to tourists, and visit myself again and again. 4 is great, somewhere I'd love to return again and again. Back-up recommendation for tourists. 3 is good. A solid option if I am in the area. I may recommend to locals, but would probably leave it off my list of recommendations for tourists. 2 is ok, but only because it a great value, unique, and/or convenient. 1 means I would not return.

Instead of actually greeting me, and asking me to give them a moment, she looks up at me (not even the staff member on the phone) and raises her finger at me??? The audacity of that was plenty of fuel for the one star. As if that weren't enough, when the associate that was on the phone was done, her colleague looks at me and asked what I "needed"...I chose to tell her I was there to dine, again, standing there alone, and her response was, "I'm not supposed to automatically know that." Representing the restaurant in this manner let me know she didn't desire my business, or presence. I promptly let her know that I'd pass on dining there, and left your establishment. I don't care HOW good your food may be, your staff's customer service and attitude ruined the chance I was taking to try a new local establishment. I'll be sure to share my experience with whoever asks, but I encourage the enhancement of customer service training to prevent losing more diners like myself.

They also have a few solid combo deals, though I usually prefer trying a variety of items instead. Service was quick, which is always appreciated at a sushi spot. We ordered a few specialty rolls, two traditional rolls, and a couple orders of sashimi, all served together on one platter. The rolls were a great size -- filling without being overly large. The sashimi was fresh, and the traditional rolls really balanced out the meal nicely. The flounder and tuna sashimi were both excellent, and the California roll made with real crab was simple, fresh, and really satisfying. The total came out somewhere in the $70 range, so after tip and splitting it between two people, it was about $40 each to try multiple rolls and sashimi. Definitely fair pricing for the quality and amount of food. This spot had been on my list for a while, so I'm glad I finally made it over. I'd recommend checking out the menu beforehand so you can go in with a game plan and try the items that stand out most to you.
