I have been here several times in the past few weeks. the food has always been hot, fresh and delicious. I am trying to force myself to try other slices of their menu, but I simply do not want to fix what is not broken. Of the two I have had (sausage/pepperoni/sausage with red/green peppers) I love the pepperoni and the sausage with peppers. I ALWAYS ask for insane amount of fresh hot garlic which is just DeVine because I am eating by myself at either lunch or a light dinner. The staff there is always polite, professional and making sure they understand my order (because I ask for INSANE amount of garlic on my slice). My go to for veggies is the Greek Salad. I love that they give two choices for Lunch Specials. I have Never been there when the bathroom was not clean. They have always played nice general music. The space is always clean, quaint and cozy. My friend and I stopped by the Water Park for dinner, and because I wasn't too hungry, I decided to grab a slice from Crush. I've tried a bite of the pizza in the past and thought it was pretty good, so I wanted to finally get my own! The line was a few people long, and it didn't take too long for my slice to be ready. MARGHERITA SLICE - 5.50 The slice was on the smaller side, but I wasn't going to argue since I wasn't too hungry to begin with. But after tax, it was 6.05, which is kind of pricy for just a slice. The margherita slice didn't really look like a margherita slice. It looked more like cheese pizza with a few shriveled pieces of basil and a random slice of tomato, which I have yet to see on any margherita pizza. The flavor was fine, but I also accepted that it's just a cheese slice with a single tomato slice. Maybe I need to try a different pizza if I return in the future. I've had inconsistent experiences here, and unfortunately, things have gone downhill since my first visit. I really enjoyed the pizza the first time around, but it hasn't lived up to that standard since. On my most recent visit this week, I ordered the lunch special: a slice of supreme pizza, a "Greek salad," and a drink. I took my bag to the waterpark area, ready to enjoy my meal. But when I opened the salad, I was immediately disappointed. It was a barebones version of a traditional Greek salad--just peppers, olives, onions, tomatoes, and cucumber topped with feta. No Romaine lettuce, even though it's listed as an ingredient for the Greek salad on their ToastTab online ordering page (see image). Wanting to clarify, I walked back to the restaurant and asked about the missing lettuce. The employee informed me--bluntly--that the salad doesn't come with it. When I asked if I could have some, her response was dismissive: she motioned toward the register and said, "Sure, you can have some lettuce, if you pay for it." Had she handled it more politely, it wouldn't have left such a sour taste. To add to the confusion, there are two menu photos posted on Yelp that describe the Greek salad as including Romaine. However, the printed menu at the restaurant has since changed, and the lettuce has been quietly removed. So buyer beware--what you see online may not match what's served. Came to check out this new pizza place at the water park in National Landing. We split a mushroom lemon cream pie and it was very good! The lemony flavor decimated shines through. It's a big pie, the crust is thin, and it's loaded with cheese. Also recommend the pistachio gelato! Our group liked it better than the straciatella. It came out hot and fresh and I would come back to try a red pie too. They have indoor and outdoor seating and when we went it was a nice day so they opened the area to be indoor/outdoor. This place reminds me of a typical NYC pizza joint in some ways. I like this place because it's quite clean and orderly. There are plenty of tables outside, but there are only a couple tables inside. Delicious thin slice pizza. Good food combos that are affordable. Some great options for their pizzas. You may want to try their version of a margarhita pizza or their garlic cream or their version of pepperoni or cheese. Friendly management and quick service always. They have an indoor area, but it's small so it looks like they choose to open the walls/windows so that there is no place that's cool, but the inside is still in the shade so an improvement from outside seating. Personally I think this is a minus for me. The seating in this plaza is questionable at best given the climate is often too hot or too cold. The wine prices were decent and the pizza by the slice seemed to be a better deal than a whole pizza. We wanted to try different flavors and a whole pizza would've been too big. Hard to beat that with how expensive other meals at the Water Park are. I usually enjoy the taste of their pizzas despite the prices, however, today I got a slice of their margarita verde which I was excited to try because of the basil pesto. Yet to my disappointment there was barely any pesto on the slice, and the pizza was folder in half when I opened the box with only half of the cheese and sauce on it. I really wanted to like this place, truly. My coworkers have mixed reviews on their experiences, ranging from "best pizza in the area" to "absolutely godawful;" unfortunately, I ended up agreeing with the latter half of that argument. The experience actually started quite well with spectacular customer service. The cashier was very friendly and patient with me while I decided on my order. Once I placed it, receiving the food only took 5 minutes, at most. Even though the location is quite small and only has a few tables, the waterfront location adds quite nicely to the ambiance given in the Crystal City neighborhood. These factors are the sole reason that this review is receiving 2 stars and not 1. As for the food itself, I ordered the slice+salad+soda combo for nearly $20. Unfortunately, I didn't check the food before leaving, so I had already made the 5 minute walk back to the office before recognizing my mistake. The supreme pizza was severely undercooked and floppy, with the crust itself stretching as I bit into it, similar to Play-Doh. The toppings were generous, but unfortunately, the crust itself was too overpoweringly horrific to enjoy the meal. The salad was undoubtedly the most unpleasant part of the meal. I ordered the restaurants rendition of a Caesar salad, which you would think would be hard to mess up. Well, I'm not sure what I got, but it was in no way any variation of a Caesar salad; almost exclusively radicchio, the salad was unbelievably bitter and repulsive. What little lettuce was in the salad was browning on the edges and was likely minutes away from being trashed. The dressing tasted nice, but similar to the pizza, the negative aspects of the salad made the entire thing inedible. The good news is, it's impossible to mess up a Coke Zero in a can! I will not be returning unless I'm in dire need of a soda. Truly unfortunate experience, especially for a place with such outstanding reviews. I'll consider this purchase a $20 donation to improving their food service. Looks like I'll be going hungry today! read more
