We've been fans of Pupatella for years, and this location will always have a special place for us. It's been fun watching the brand grow while still delivering the pizza that made us fall in love with it in the first place. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. Our go-to pizzas are the pepperoni and the ham and mushroom, and they're consistently excellent. The frittura sampler is perfect to share with a cold beer--it's hard to go wrong with fried mozzarella and friends around the table. The only thing we miss is the gelato, but that's a small tradeoff for an otherwise consistently great experience. We've enjoyed visiting several Pupatella locations over the years, yet this one remains our favorite and the one we always look forward to returning to for pizza parties and good laughs with friends. read more

We happen to stumble upon this location. We have been to the Alexandria location quite a few times and I will say I think I enjoyed this location most mainly because its more spacious. I will also add it was clean as well. We went here for pi day and the pizza pie did not disappoint. I ate all that goodness in one sitting. That's how good that pizza was. I truly felt like fat bastard and told that margarita pizza get in my belly. Everything was cooked to perfection. The freshly squeezed lemonade was really good but I dont think they offer free refills because we never got one and I wish they did because it was so delicious. We came back after having visited the first year they opened. I read up on the menu to ensure it's just Italian 00 flour and nothing else, plus they have real buffalo mozzarella - both are much easier to digest for folks with gluten and dairy intolerances. I used DoorDash to deliver pizza this evening and was disappointed because the pizza was barely warm. Not to any fall of the restaurant, but if somebody is using a green bike that the city provides, they should not be delivering things that are 30 minutes away. My drink also arrived melted so I had a water down Sprite as well. I did use the air fryer to heat up the pizza. I may have to actually visit the location to see how the pizza actually is at the restaurant. A fun local DVM chain that has a bunch of options but my favorite is the pesto pizza! A great casual spot to pick up Neapolitan style pizza. I am very surprised that I hadn't done this review sooner which I should have. Though I didn't have the best of times living in Virginia or Mosaic more specifically, it was kind of crowded, but I was also going through a lot at the time so...I can't generalize my Mosaic experience to everyone else's. The smoked provolata mozzarella cheese and smoked eggplant was so beyond yummy, like i wish i could snap my fingers and make it magically appear before me lol I recall adding garlic to it because you can basically build your own pizza and they prepare it and bake it Napoli style with like semi burnt edges. I recall also getting these arancini rice cheese balls to go which reminded me of like really gourmet mozzarella sticks but in the shape of a crunchy ball. They were ooey gooey on the inside and had that deep fried taste (which I am sure isn't great for you) but still was so so good. I ate there a few times actually with family in person and they have a pretty good wine special too like their house wine isn't all that bad. I am not sure what it is like now but the service was excellent. All of the waiters even the takeout staff were all nice. I forgot the name of one guy who actually apologized for me waiting a little bit of time. I passed the time by watching funny SNL videos because I love comedy especially when times are rough or things get hard cause laughter is the best medicine. So I didn't mind waiting. Plus it was fun to watch the open kitchen chefs create the pizzas on the spot:) If I was still in that area I would most definitely go back. The food was tasty, always hot and delicious and the service was top notch even when it was busy at peak times at night. Their desserts were good too. I think I tried a cannoli once and tiramisu. Sparse cheese might as well not even have any on it. The dough is chewy and undercooked the sauce is too sweet. We visited the Fairfax location last weekend and had a very disappointing experience. We were seated outside and waited for quite a while before anyone acknowledged us. Eventually, a waitress took our drink and pizza orders, but after about 25 minutes she returned and asked to take our order again. We remained patient, but then waited another 20 minutes just for our drinks. When my lemonade arrived, it had ice despite my request for no ice. When I pointed this out, she took it back, poured out some of the drink, and returned it watered down. I declined it, as it was no longer the same drink, but she simply walked away without addressing the issue. We ended up waiting around 45 minutes for our food. When it was time to pay, the lemonade was still included on the bill. I paid it, but the lack of service, attention, and even a simple apology was very disappointing. Finally tried the famous Pupatella. I was so excited about trying the pizza that I had already scarfed down half of the pizza after realizing I didn't get a picture. I ordered online on a Friday around 6:30. Order took about 40 minutes. They were extremely busy and they keep a great flow of people. It was very lively inside. The pizza was great. I got the Caivano. The char was perfect. The crust wasn't extremely thin, which I like. This pizza came with tons of meat! No skimping. I will say that my pizza wasn't exactly saucy or super cheesy. I stopped by on a Saturday afternoon to see what all the buzz is about. The small parking lot in front of the restaurant was packed but I saw a sign about additional parking behind the 7-11 (it's actually next to 7-11, so don't get confused. There's a neighborhood behind 7-11) so I parked on the street there. It was a 2 hour max, no meter. I entered the restaurant and asked if they sold pizza by the slice. They do not. One of the staff saw my disappointment and offered that they have small pizzas available, about 12". That was ok, so I ordered a pepperoni pizza. Total with taxes was $17. I sat down to wait and it was ready within about 5 minutes. I ordered to go. I ate the pizza when I got home without warming it, but it was still good. A small/medium pizza has 4 very large slices; I folded them to eat them. The crust was nice and soft, though quite burned in some spots. We decided to try Pupatella for a date night after seeing that had such positive reviews for best pizza in Northern Virginia. We were very surprised with how authentic the flavors were fresh the pizzas were. The vibe and ambience of the restaurant is more of an authentic Italian experience and it is casual, but still appropriate for small groups and date night. We were able to get seated pretty quickly after arriving at 7:30 PM on a Thursday night without a prior reservation. For food, the fried mozzarella balls were definitely a highlight and made fresh. I'm updating my review to praise Pupatella's outdoor dining space! Don't be fooled by the humble exterior. There is a quite expansive back patio that is absolutely lovely. This is a great spot to hang out with friends or bring your family. There is also a parking lot off the back of the outdoor seating area, which is great since the parking in front is very limited. The back patio has a lot of shaded options, including many tables with umbrellas. The food is as good as ever. These are thin pizzas, so don't go overboard on the toppings, lest your pizza be a soggy mess. I usually stick to something simple. Lots of good appetizers, especially the arancini. Am I wrong to expect cheese is part of the pizza when ordering a custom pizza? I mean, even Papa John's starts you off with a cheese pizza and you can add extra toppings.
