Picked up to-go order and the pizza was ready in the estimated pickup time. Service was good and the inside of the restaurant was quiet and calm for an indoor dining experience if we return.
We happen to stumble upon this location. We have been to the Alexandria location quite a few times and I will say I think I enjoyed this location most mainly because its more spacious. I will also add it was clean as well. We went here for pi day and the pizza pie did not disappoint. I ate all that goodness in one sitting. That's how good that pizza was. I truly felt like fat bastard and told that margarita pizza get in my belly. Everything was cooked to perfection. The freshly squeezed lemonade was really good but I dont think they offer free refills because we never got one and I wish they did because it was so delicious. Our server was very polite and greeted us with a glass of water which is always appreciated. The food didnt take long to arrive at our table. I have to add these pizza are pretty pricey. This is a treat yourself pizza pie not a everyday day pizza pie. But, if you got it like that by all means go weekly. You will not be disappointed. If not go monthly. Overall, its a good dining experience. I would definitely recommend.
I ordered pizza to go and the order was done quickly and ready when I came to pick it up. I tried the Tomato Artichoke Pizza and it was ok. I liked the crust but everything else was good working for me. I also ordered cannoli and they were good although they had an interesting flavor that I wasn't expecting- maybe kind of citrus?
Pupatella has the best pizza in Arlington! The pies are made to order and truly taste much better than their competitors. My favorites are the burrata and the caivano! Parking can get hairy, recommend visiting during off peak hours.
We came back after having visited the first year they opened. I read up on the menu to ensure it's just Italian 00 flour and nothing else, plus they have real buffalo mozzarella - both are much easier to digest for folks with gluten and dairy intolerances. Our server Paul was AMAZING- so patient and descriptive with the options, helped me pick a drink, and really elevated a fast casual experience. We ordered the margarita DOC and the spicy sausage with peppers and onions and the margarita was our fav! We got them well done and ordered a side salad that was super generous. The prosecco Paul suggested was awesome and the chocolate hazelnut gelato was WORTH the cheat! Ambiance was clean and staff incredible. When we want a cheat day- we will be back!
I used DoorDash to deliver pizza this evening and was disappointed because the pizza was barely warm. Not to any fall of the restaurant, but if somebody is using a green bike that the city provides, they should not be delivering things that are 30 minutes away. My drink also arrived melted so I had a water down Sprite as well. I did use the air fryer to heat up the pizza. I may have to actually visit the location to see how the pizza actually is at the restaurant. Also, if you have a direct app where I can order directly from the restaurant to get a hot pizza, at home, I would really be happy to receive that information. Thank you.
A fun local DVM chain that has a bunch of options but my favorite is the pesto pizza! A great casual spot to pick up Neapolitan style pizza. Would recommend sharing 1 pie with two or three people depending on how hungry you are. We were seated, ordered, and got our food within a half hour and the pizza was fresh out of the oven. If you're looking to step up your Friday night pizza delivery, look here!
I cannot comment on the service since I doordashed but my goodness was this pizza SO GOOD!!! I loved the toppings and options though I will say it was expensive for the size of it. Luckily I was on a conference budget from my school but the quality was great and I was pleased with the distribution of toppings throughout. The pizza was unfortunately not that sturdy so the toppings slid right off. Maybe the dough wasn't thick enough or it just took too long to deliver and got soggy but just one thing to note. Would definitely come back next time in DC!
I am very surprised that I hadn't done this review sooner which I should have. Though I didn't have the best of times living in Virginia or Mosaic more specifically, it was kind of crowded, but I was also going through a lot at the time so...I can't generalize my Mosaic experience to everyone else's. That would be selfish and ignorant of me, but man this restaurant was so so good. The smoked provolata mozzarella cheese and smoked eggplant was so beyond yummy, like i wish i could snap my fingers and make it magically appear before me lol I recall adding garlic to it because you can basically build your own pizza and they prepare it and bake it Napoli style with like semi burnt edges. I recall also getting these arancini rice cheese balls to go which reminded me of like really gourmet mozzarella sticks but in the shape of a crunchy ball. They were ooey gooey on the inside and had that deep fried taste (which I am sure isn't great for you) but still was so so good. I ate there a few times actually with family in person and they have a pretty good wine special too like their house wine isn't all that bad. I am not sure what it is like now but the service was excellent. All of the waiters even the takeout staff were all nice. I forgot the name of one guy who actually apologized for me waiting a little bit of time. I passed the time by watching funny SNL videos because I love comedy especially when times are rough or things get hard cause laughter is the best medicine. So I didn't mind waiting. Plus it was fun to watch the open kitchen chefs create the pizzas on the spot:) If I was still in that area I would most definitely go back. The food was tasty, always hot and delicious and the service was top notch even when it was busy at peak times at night. Their desserts were good too. I think I tried a cannoli once and tiramisu. I tended to spoil myself sometimes when I ate out but I was also (and still am) going through a lot. I tried not to over indulge because of you are anything like me, I eat with my eyes which can be a bad thing.
Quick and easy service - went in for lunch on Sunday and the place was pretty empty. Loved that the bruschetta did not have balsamic, which is authentic, but the bread was not toasted or warm at all so it kind of fell apart. The pizza had good flavor and overall was tasty but not the best I've had. Would come in again if you want a quick bite.

We got this pizza on Grub Hub. It was really greasy, floppy, and just bad. It's a medium thick crust but it was so soggy with oil that it couldn't hold the disgustingly huge amount of sauce, cheese and toppings. Soooo much cheap terrible pepperoni. Maybe the worst pizza I've ever had. Bye $60 read more
Am I wrong to expect cheese is part of the pizza when ordering a custom pizza? I mean, even Papa John's starts you off with a cheese pizza and you can add extra toppings. So I ordered a custom pizza with pepperoni, garlic and cherry tomatoes. I didn't add the optional cheese selection because, you know, I thought it already came with cheese. Now I have a weirdo flatbread with sauce and toppings, when what I wanted was a pizza. I'm gonna have to go buy cheese for my cheese less custom pizza. The base price of $10.95 is dough and sauce. What in the cheese less hell is this. Also their fried appetizers - I got the one with a bit of everything - was not great to eat. The arancini were so over fried. The potato croquette thing was tasteless (but it has cheese tho so extra star for that.). The mozz balls were alright. The sauce was really nice tho, so another star! read more
My favorite restaurant of all time! Been coming here since at least 2012 and visit for all special occasions. I get the margherita every time and it is fantastic-- nothing like it. The pizza is always consistent and dependable. Service is usually fast/good. Could not recommend this place enough. read more

Came on a Friday around 5 and we were able to be seated immediately. The pizza lives up to the hype--I usually skip crust but I ate every bite of this one. Also shoutout to the server who did a phenomenal job waiting on a packed house that included many families with very young kids! read more

We had a lovely, spontaneous trip to Pupatella on a Wednesday evening. We were able to seat ourselves at an outdoor table (I had NO idea the back outdoor area was so extensive) since we had our dogs with us. We were quickly greeted with menus and waters, and then the server came soon after to take our orders. The food came very quickly and it was very tasty. Since we ordered at least two pizzas (1 for each of the 4 of us!), we were able to take advantage of the $10 off a bottle of wine discount. I have to say that is a really fun deal! Our server was very friendly and attentive while we debated ordering more. I will go back for the classica pizza! read more
This place isn't bad, but I've had better pizza elsewhere. Toppings were good, but my pizza was quite burnt at the bottom. Zucchini fries were just okay as well. Service was good, and atmosphere is on the more casual side. The parking here can be tough since the parking lot is very small. read more
A group of us came on a weekend night and I wasn't that impressed. They serve Neapolitan pizza, and have indoor and outdoor seating. I got the arancini with sausage and chorizo pizza. I also tried a slice of the mushroom and diavola. The arancini was good. The pizzas were ok, toppings were good, however not a fan of the doughy-ness as toppings just fall off. Each pizza is good for one person and slightly pricey for the size. Service was not good. Food pacing was strange: one pizza came first and my friend was 3/4 done with her pizza before everyone else received their pizzas. They also forgot a main pasta dish for one person, but we were unable to follow up on it because no one checked on us after we received our food. We had to call a worker down to receive our check and then they asked if we wanted a refill on our waters when paying for the check. read more

The original location of Pupatella continues to impress me, even for take out. First off, the cheese has to be one of the better qualities out there as you can taste the depth of it. We tried the meatballs this time, which were also surprisingly good. They were not dry and you could tell that the meat was of high quality as well. Lastly, the garlic and mozzarella bread was quite divine. It featured a full serving of mozzarella on each side and it balanced out nicely with the crispy bread. 5/5 for Pupatella! read more

We ordered a couple of pizzas online on a Friday afternoon at 3 pm. I was expecting a 1/2 hour or so as I didn't get the option to choose my pick up time. Surprisingly, It was going to be ready at 4:10. (Over an hour later). Ok, I had a couple of other stops and worked it out. When I arrived at the restaurant I noticed it was empty so I asked if they just happened to be busy with pick up/ delivery orders. No, not really -"the pizza takes longer to bake." But then I've seen much less times from reviews & always thought wood fired ovens have lower bake times. Must have been high number of pickup/delivery orders? Saw they had Gelato and still had a few minutes before the Pies were ready so...got Coffee and Salted Caramel. The kind lady mentioned Gelato is the healthier version of Ice Cream. I didn't argue and did notice the flavors were stronger than the sugar so okay I'm sold. Very good Gelato and hit the spot! Good to see (written on the box and on website) they are internationally certified authentic Neapolitan pizza. We ordered a Red and a White Pizza. First, what stood out was the wood fired oven crust. On the thinner side but soft with slightly crunchy edges and had the perfect balance with toppings/sauce. So good that you eat the ends. The Diavolo (Red) had a kick given the Spicy Salami and was enjoyed. That said, the Buffala Bianca was our favorite. The Italian Cream and Buffalo Mozzarella combo was amazing! Prosciutto takes it over the top! They have a few (22) combo pizza options if you don't want to have a custom one. Service (outside of the extended prep time for our order during non-peak) was friendly and upbeat. The AVPN certified section clearly spells out the rules Pupatella had to meet. From Wood Fire oven to sauce made with San Marzano tomatoes and so on. 11" personal pizzas and the prices reflect their Verace certification (& well worth it.) read more

Came here based off a recommendation from work saying Pupatella had the best pizza in the DMV. I was skeptical and the za was alright but I have high standards for pizza and I wasn't terribly impressed. It's not bad just not for me. read more

As a New Yorker, I'm a tough pizza critic. I would give it 4 stars. I would recommend if you are looking for an authentic Italian style pizza. It taste just like it was made in a shop in Florence. The sauce was a lil sweet and spicy with gooey thick mozzarella cheese. The dough wasn't too thin or doughy. It was just right for what it was supposed to be. read more

Overall, 3.5/5 but will bump it to a 4/5 since we did arrive an hour before closing and I'm sure the quality would have been better otherwise. How I would describe my one experience at Pupatella (which my friend agrees with and he is a regular) in one sentence? High quality ingredients but less than high quality effort. Now, I've lived in the Ballston area for almost nine months and there has been lots of raving and hype revolving Pupatella - "best pizza in NoVa" or dare I say, "best pizza I've ever had." So naturally, I was curious and thankfully, my friend picked Pupatella for our dinner spot tonight. I was excited to finally eat the best pizza ever. Lots of seating in this Pupatella, inside and outside! I hear eating outside is a whole different experience with the lighting and whatnot? My friend and I chose to sit inside, which had your typical "fancier" American Italian pizza place vibes and feel. Fortunately, we were seated right away and the food came out quite quickly. ARANCINI WITH SAUSAGE - 6.75 There's two of them, which is perfect to share if you're going with one other person! This was pretty tasty, but don't remember too much about this besides the fact it had risotto. I don't think the proportions of the mozzarella, peas, and sausages were well distributed so mine only had risotto and mozzarella. Possibly a few pieces of sausage? Definitely did not have peas. PANZAROTTI - 6.75 This also come in pairs, but wow, this was VERY TASTY! I loved the ham in this and the mozzarella was so fresh and stringy. It was so light and delicious mixed with the potato croquettes. I would highly recommend giving this street snack option a try. This was probably my favorite thing we ordered tonight. MARGHERITA DOC - 15.50 Seemingly one of their most popular options and my friend had complained about this pizza being more burnt than he would like when he ordered this a few weeks ago. Naturally, he wanted to try it again to see if it would be better. Sadly, they must have overheard his complaint because the pizza came out a bit undercooked. The mozzarella slid off the dough as easily as some kid on a slide. Overall, our pizza was pretty droopy and soggy. The basil leaves were not well distributed and the bland sauce made it even more underwhelming. Besides that, I did appreciate the freshness of the mozzarella - it's also buffalo mozz?? Wow. The pizza crust was chewy and flavorful - usually they're hit or miss, but I definitely would not leave the Pupatella ones uneaten. Again, high quality ingredients but seems like Pupatella is a hit or miss in terms of effort. Not the most impressed with my first Pupatella experience and I'd question the quality and taste of other NoVa pizzerias if this was considered "the best pizza in NoVa". I'd definitely give Pupatella another try, but maybe a different pizza and will go at an hour that isn't near closing time. read more
Cool place with pretty good Neapolitan pizza! My only complaint is that compared to other pizzas I love in the DMV, these are a bit messier (kinda droopy crust) and greasier. There were things I liked but I definitely didn't love this place - which is sad since I've been here before and really enjoyed it. The atmosphere is causal and service was good. No problems with my server. I also liked the sangria - in fact I got the red and white. But the pizza? It was soggy! I got the Neapolitan and had high hopes but it was disappointing. I'll probably give them another try on the hope this was a one off. read more

We come here all the time - pre-Covid, during Covid, & end of Covid. Regardless, we always did carry out even though they do have dine-in available. They have wonderful, authentic, Neapolitan pizza, founded by a native of Naples (where my Pop is from). They are internationally certified authentic & have been awarded the Verace Pizza Association certification, the definition of true neapolitan pizza. We typically get a variety of pizzas but they offer small plates, salads, a couple pastas, friggitoria (fried foods), paninis & pizza. Ingredients are prime with San Marzano tomatoes & DOC where applicable. What more could you ask for. See you soon for some more authentic pies! read more

All you want in a wood fired pizza spot. Crust is chewy and charred. Absolutely delicious! Service was okay. Our server was friendly but didn't not check on us to refill our drinks for a long time and the location wasn't busy. The space is cute and comfortable. Parking was plentiful. Overall I enjoyed my lunch time visit and will be back for more! read more
All around stars for the meal and service! Dine-in was available for outdoor patio only. There's enough seating for a 6 or 7 groups in total. The takeout was still busy and there are people standing around in the storefront. If you want to dine-in, go around the building to the backyard patio area. The patio area is so colorful and well shaded. The Margherita DOC ($13.50) was delicious. It's a small size pizza and is good for one hungry adult. Their brussels sprouts ($7) was shareable for 2 adults and was so delicious. You'll want to get this add-on to your meal. read more
