Ordered the lamb kebab to go, and they've done a really good job! The lamb is delicious and well charred. This is also probably one of the best pita breads I've received from a kebab restaurant. Very soft doughy and large ! I really enjoy the spinach side as well. Well cooked and pleasant fast service when I walked in to collect! Clean restaurant as well with a very casual atmosphere. read more

Kabob Garden - A4. Lamb Kabob - Afghan Near Me - Arlington, Virginia

Friendly service, food prepared to order, fresh flatbread. The dish called "butter chicken" is actually kabob chicken chunks in a sweet anise-laced tomato sauce that is one of my favorite dishes in the entire DMV. Dining area is small and quiet, nothing fancy, but pleasant. read more

The lamb is above average for most places in America but below average for this area. I would say the comparative strength for this place is seasoning and the sides, minus the bread which you could do better from ovening some store bought if you pick the right stuff. Very nice employees. Flirting with 2 stars for the price but not outrageous given the location + standards for kabob. Gave them the benefit of the doubt for the lunch special read more

I had a lamb kabob sandwich or wrap, which was good. I had a side of fries, which were also good. As a drink I had some kind of Indian tea, which was good as well. The staff were nice and the service was fast and friendly. The only thing I suggest is adding a recycling bin and making the bathrooms look more interesting by adding some nice decor or a wall mural. Other than that, all else was good! read more

Great food, fast friendly service. I arrived as they were opening for lunch and they offered a cup of soup while I waited for the kabobs to be grilled. Kabobs, rice, and chickpeas were all great. The plate came with a large side of naan. read more

Food here is so good and reasonable prices for the area. They give you a lot of food and the people who work there are very nice. I highly recommend trying this. Usually I call in for pickup, but they have a clean seating area inside. I like the E1, the veggie platter, the gyros, and the soup. Try it all! read more

My daughter and I had been looking forward to having dinner specifically at Kabob Garden last night. We checked to make sure what time the restaurant closed before traveling from Vienna and were pleased to see that they were open until 9 PM. We arrived at 8:34 PM and were very disappointed to be told that we were unable to order because they were cleaning to get ready to close! I told them that this was unacceptable and that Kabob Garden was our favorite Afghani restaurant, but not anymore!!! Why does an establishment advertise their closing hour of 9 PM if they actually shut down operations and begin cleaning up before 9 PM? read more

Always a go to for me. I think the portion size of the salmon given has decreased though. I usually get salmon kabob with chickpeas and sweet pumpkin, naan, salad, and rice. It always hits the spot. In fact as I'm writing this I just decided to order after work. They're polite, reasonably quick but I always call ahead if I'm on a time crunch. Nothing particularly special or attractive about the space but it's always clean and tidy and there are spots to eat with friends at a table or solo at the bar style seats. 4 to 4.5/5 read more

Very carb heavy, but lots of delicious variety of food that is worth it for your money. The staff works hard and are kind and friendly, offering us free samples of this chicken soup which was quite delicious. I've been living in the Ballston area for a while and can't believe it's my first time checking out this restaurant today. My friend and I were pretty satisfied with our orders and we'll be back soon. Listen, open your eyes and look around - there's a lot of fantastic restaurants to check out in the area other than the local fast-casuals and popular restaurant chains that are on Wilson Street. Our only tip? Call ahead so you don't have to wait 15-20 minutes for food at the restaurant. Seems like most people call ahead and grab their orders to-go. A-1 BONELESS CHICKEN BREAST KABOB - 13.85 There's quite a bit of chicken, which were were well-seasoned and delicious. It was a bit dry, but that's OK since it was white meat. Nothing extraordinary about this kabob, but it went well with the rice. This is definitely the "healthy" option. Still delicious, though, and I would recommend it if this is what you're looking for. A-5 BEEF KABOB - 14.99 This was my friend's order and I'm super thankful that he let me try a piece of beef. It was so incredibly tender and flavorful that we were both shocked. His words, "if someone told me this was food from a famous NYC restaurant, I'd believe it." This was the clear winner of the two kabobs we tried today. We would definitely recommend this if you eat red meat. All kabob orders come with a huge piece of bread (that's probably bigger than your face) that was delicious. The salad was a nice side that made me feel "healthier" when eating, lol. The bed of rice below the kabob were seasoned well and could be eaten by itself. Lots of garnish on top of the meat for taste and presentation. For the sides, we both got the chickpeas, which was saucy and delicious. read more

Good food for the price! Not my favorite kabob place, but also not the most expensive kabob place I've gotten. The employees said it would be a 15 minute wait for two orders, but it was done sooner. The portion sizes are pretty good (again, not the biggest) but my family and I were full from our meals. read more

Moved across the street here recently so decided to try it out! The man behind the counter (we didn't catch his name) was really friendly and funny. The portions are pretty large and the different meats were all moist and seasoned perfectly. For sides we got the fried eggplant (absolutely amazing) and chicken curry (pretty good but probably wouldn't get again). The chicken soup he gave us on the side was amazing, would definitely get a bowl of that if I was sick. Will be back for the lunch specials!! read more

We happen to stumble upon this place tucked away in the lobby of an office building. We are very glad we did. It's a family run place with a very friendly and attentive owner and staff. I had the chicken and lamb platter which had generous portions enough to share with my wife and leave us plenty full. The chicken was just right, not too bland or spicy and perfectly moist. The lamb was equally tasty. Prices for reasonable for value and amount of food. We will come back to try other entries for sure. read more

First time trying Kabob House (and only second time eating Afghan food), and was very impressed. From the second I walked in the door, the staff was very friendly, helping me find what exactly I wanted to order on the menu. I placed a to-go order, and as I waited (the kabobs are made to order, SO fresh), I was given a sample of soup to try (delicious!!). I tried the beef, lamb, and chicken kabobs. All 3 were very good, the beef was my favorite. The rice was fresh, as were all the side dishes (chick peas, soup, beef, etc.) I really loved all the food, and felt everything was very reasonably priced. The staff was so friendly, it made the experience really fun for me, and I can't wait to return again. read more

Came here on a Saturday at noon, and there were only two costumers. More people should definitely be coming here! Got the combo platter (~$14) with lamb and chicken, fried egg plant as a side, and it comes with rice, salad, and bread. It was actually a very good amount, and I split it with my boyfriend. Its pricey, but definitely would be two meals worth for me. If you have a big appetite you could finish it in one. The meat was good. I didnt really love it but it was pretty good with the sauce and everything. The owner/staff were very friendly, and they even offered a sample of their soup! read more

First time there but am super impressed with my dinner. So it was the triple crown salad. But I am stuffed. I do not usually feel stuffed after a salad. I got this one because it has feta cheese, chicken kebab and gyro meat in it. It also comes with a piece of Afghani bread. I'm watching carbs so I did not take home the bread but it looks pretty awesome coming out of the oven. The man at the counter was very friendly. 14 dollars and change, plus a small take out tip. There's inside dining, all the patrons were wearing masks. I'm not dining inside during this epidemic but some people may choose to. But I plan to go back and support the small business. Yum! Update: Made it second time. Very happy, nice people. I will keep going back. read more

Kabob Garden - That is a lot of meat on that salad! - Afghan Near Me - Arlington, Virginia

The food here is extremely good. I live in DC so I'm not around here too often, but whenever I am, I make it a point to eat here. I've now had beef, lamb and chicken kabobs. They're all delicious though the chicken is my favorite. The samosas they have are also a must try. As good as the food is, my favorite part of eating here is the people who work there. Today, I got caught in a rain storm while walking here and entered wet and cold. After taking my order, they were kind enough to bring me a complimentary bowl of soup to warm up. The other time I visited, the employee asked if I had tried a few foods that I hadn't heard of before. He was excited to share them with me and brought tiny samples for me to try. read more

Kabob Garden, my beloved! (It's called Kabob Garden now, not Kabob House). The food here is so good--fresh, flavorful, and comforting. They include fresh nan with most dishes, and it's always served warm. Their nan is really what sets them apart as a lunch option in the area, in my opinion. Additional shoutouts to the boneless chicken breast kabob (grilled, juicy, wonderful), sides selection (pumpkin! chickpeas!), and their chicken soup. I got a sample of it once and now I order it all the time. Honestly wish they sold the soup as a bigger portion, rather than just as a side. I recommend! read more

My friend lives around the corner from Kabob House, so we decided to check it out! Upon entering, the manager offered us a sample cup of hot soup, perfect for this cold night. Everything looked so good, but I HAD to get the Quabili Palau, which consists of lamb chunks, seasoned rice, sweet carrots and raisins. On the side was this delicious gravy and creamy spinach. Portion was MASSIVE, definitely good for two meals! The green sauce included on the side was also delicious. My friend really enjoyed her salad with the yogurt sauce too. We will definitely be back to try everything else on the menu! read more

I'm told that the algorithms filter out five-star and one-star reviews...so I resisted giving five stars just to make sure it got counted. But in the end, I HAD to give five stars because there's absolutely nothing about this place that I don't like. I've now had the lamb kabob platter and the chicken kabob platter and both were done perfectly. I read in some of the other reviews that some people found the chicken "dry." Mine was tender, juicy, well-spiced and offered in generous portions. The lamb, too, was fabulous. I don't know what spices are used to make the spinach so special, but it is a really terrific side. And as many have noted, the bread is to die for. Service was quick and cheerful...and the owner made a point of greeting my wife and me as we came in. And yes, it's not instant like McDonald's...but fercryinoutloud, it's fresh cooked! That's why it's delicious! My chicken kabob took about eight minutes from the time I ordered to the time I sat down to eat it. I can't complain about that... We just moved in to the apartment building upstairs, so it's a real treat to have this just an elevator ride away. But I'd come even if it were several blocks. Good stuff! read more

Came here during a weekday lunch hour. Food is ok however service is below average. When you order they don't remember your name and don't give you a number. The guy behind serving area will even take orders from people behind you bypassing you in line before you can even give your order with the register guy. Orders do take a long time like others have said, and it's clear orders over the phone are backed up too since their always apologizing for late orders. Will I ever come back? The gyro platter was delicious! It came with a large salad with onion, tomato and feta cheese. It was fresh and crisp, which complemented the heartier gyro. The gyro was not overly greasy and as they can be at other places. It had a good ratio of meat, veggies and sauces. While we waited, the person in charge gave us some delicious soup!! We would definitely get this meal again as it was substantial yet well balanced as well as affordable. My only negative is that they use foam packaging, but staff hospitality all but make up for it! read more

This place is a main staple since I moved to the Arlington area. The food is Authentic Afghan cuisine. The gentlemen that own this establishment are true hospitality people and are always welcoming me with a small taste sampler of one of there sides that are all amazing. Al the meats are fresh made to order over a real grill. It's amazing quality authentic food here. One time I came in as they where closing up and I didn't realize it at the time as it was one of my first visit. The owner insisted he make me food himself and pulled everything back out to do so. I tried to explain it was ok but he said he never would turn away a hungry guest. And so my relationship started with this amazing restaurant. Please! If your in the Arlington area, eat here! Also I have seen reviews about a wait time. This is because the fresh perfectly marinated meats are made to order. So appreciate the wait. It's because they want you to have the best quality. read more

The problem with Kabob House isn't that the food is bad, it's just not anywhere as good as the surrounding restaurants. If you placed this restaurant in any small city in the US it would get good traffic as a solid place to eat. But solid doesn't cut it when I can spin in a circle on the street corner and see 4 great places. From a COVID perspective I was also not real happy that the employees were not wearing masks (cashier put hers on when I walked in, chef wasn't wearing one at all). But let's get into the review. I wanted a variety on my first trip to see how good the different offerings were and I am a sucker for good baklava. So I ordered the combo kabob (I mean it is the Kabob House after all) with chicken and beef, seasoned Afghan Rice, chickpea side and naan. The food was Ready when I got there and piping hot even after the walk home. The chicken had a nice flavor and was not over cooked. The beef was a little tough but again was seasoned well. The rice was just ok, and to be honest the only thing that wowed me on the plate was the salad. They have some great Italian dressing there. The naan was different than other varieties I had had before but it was ok as well. And herein lies the problem, everything was just ok. If all my friends really wanted to go here I know I would get a solid meal but I would have preferred to have something from around the corner that I know would have knocked my socks off. Even the baklava was good but not great, it was less flaky and more tough than it should have been. If you really really want a kabob then you get what you need here. But beyond that I would say pass on it and grab something else in the immediate area. read more

The food is ALWAYS so delicious! The owners of the establishment and employees are incredibly kind and thoughtful people. I remember visiting for the first time, and after we placed our orders we were given a delicious bowl of soup! I absolutely love this place! I grab food from here at least a few times out of the week. I'm just hooked! Now, if you order right then and there in the restaurant, you will have to wait a bit (15 minutes), but I promise you it's worth the wait! If you're in a rush, definitely call in your order so that by the time you get there, it'll be done or close to it. Ugh, I love this place so much!! Go here, you will not be disappointed. read more
