Palak Paneer, Chicken Shahi Korma, Lamb Rogan Josh, Butter Naan

This was a really good takeout meal. I'm always worried about portion size for Indian food but the portions of palak paneer, chicken korma, and lamb Rogan Josh were all pretty substantial. All of the items were really good, we'll definitely be ordering from here again.

This is a very special place. Food is excellent. Service is very caring. And atmosphere is very comfortable. I had a wonderful Aloo Gobi meal (in this case: takeout) and it was excellent! (p.s. Lihah is wonderful)! Thank you)

Authentic Indian food, and friendly service. We tried their tandoori chicken and Tikka Masala chicken, both excellent! The rice was aromatic, and the Naan amazing. We'll be back!

Delicious! I am so happy there is now a good Indian spot in the neighborhood. I ordered the butter chicken and chili garlic naan. I made the butter chicken extra spicy, and it was so flavorful and had a good kick. The chili garlic naan was also great. Both items made good leftovers. The vibe inside was fine but wasn't anything special--the wall art was definitely an AI print lol. The service was good--my aunt has a dairy and gluten allergy, and they made sure to tell her what she could/couldn't eat. The waitresses were nice. I recommend!

I was very excited to enjoy lunch here with my family and see what the hype is all about. The inside was a bit cramped. They tried to pack as many tables in the venue as possible so the walkways are narrow. There isn't even room for a host stand near the front door so at first I thought it was a seat yourself restaurant. An employee greeted us promptly and pointed us to what table my family should sit at. Once seated I noticed I could not pull my chair out very far before hitting the person behind me. My 2 year old daughter wanted to sit on my lap but there was not enough space for me to do that without interfering with the person behind me. For reference I am 5 feet tall and 112 pounds. I very rarely feel cramped but the proximity of the tables was a little claustrophobic for me. We ordered Chay Nuggets, the vegan Banh Mi option, and Pho. All the food lived up to my expectations. Hands down the best Pho I ever had. The base of the broth was good on its own, and beyond compare once some of the available sauces and toppings were added. I was impressed with how many vegetables were included in this dish. This dish was hearty and I would definitely order it again. The nuggets were a great option for my daughter. They were less fluffy than an American style nugget and nicely crisped on the outside with slightly sweet sauces for dipping. The Banh Mi was good but my least favorite of the items ordered. My husband and I both wish the tofu was a little more prominent and hearty rather than shredded. I am not sure if the way they prepared it was more authentic. Regardless the flavor was good and the baguette was memorable with a little crispness on the outside and softness in the center. While the food was worth coming back for, the service and indoor dining would make me want to take my food to go. It did not feel like a family friendly business. My daughter wanted to get up and walk around and I felt some glares from the employees. In general there was no warmth from the employees. There was no checking in on our meals or any friendly conversation at the table. Thanks Chay for so many vegan options and I am happy I finally got to check out this highly rated business.

(Really, when I checked in on Swarm, it had been 13 years since my last visit. Now we're going every month or so.) While I noticed some updating--there's more wood paneling, and the menu is sleeker, for lack of a better word--the restaurant still has a warm, friendly vibe with sunflower imagery throughout. The menu is a twist on Asian food, with plenty of analogues, chunks of soy and/or wheat protein, and some vegetables. It's not all vegan--a few dishes have dairy and/or honey, and I suspect one of the noodle dishes uses egg noodles--but those items are clearly marked. We were last there on Thanksgiving and tried a few new things. The veggie kabob reminded me a bit of the kabob at the late, lamented Harmony Cafe in Georgetown. Sure, I'll get that again. I'm not so sure about the mushroom dish. I do love mushrooms, but perhaps this isn't the way to go about it. On prior visits, we've gone with old familiars. The fried "chicken" appetizer (chunks of soy protein and mushrooms fried and served with a spicy ketchup) are a classic. I am still trying to find my go-to entree. Maybe the Crispy Happiness (chunks of soy protein and shredded vegetables cooked mild)? It's a bit far from DC, but it is worth the trip.

Hubs enjoyed his cheesesteak but he prefers meat. I had a bite and thought it was really flavorful and very closely tasting like the real thing. I noticed later this is a chain, which is pretty cool. And then I also tried the thousand layer potatoes, which was nice, but I don't know if I liked it that much. And I got the Unagi eggplant which was really really good. I also really like eggplant at baseline. Other people got the sprig and run drink (it's under free spirits and it's a mocktail) and they loved it. Two of my friends got the udon and mushroom - they loved it (clean bowls). So I enjoyed it but only for special occasions. It's not very affordable to come to Planta regularly you see (or maybe I just need to have a better paying gig hahah) ... a roll and a nigiri plate came out to be over $30 ... which is somewhat typical in the expensive city of DC. In the end, we all concluded Planta Bethesda has more options whereas this one is more Asian fusion type of food (which I love). But I'm still dreaming of that miso salmon tofu from Planta Bethesda (now a year later? Also higher end prices for me and can't afford to go too often). They do only have two bathroom individual stalls and for some reason it took a while for my friends to use the restroom (she said one person was trying on outfits in there?!) and it can get a little messy in there with the trash bin, but it probably isn't consistently so...

MANGO LASSI - 5 Pretty sizable glass, but I thought it was way too sweet so I didn't even finish half of the drink. However, the texture and consistency was on point. ASSORTED BREAD - 11 We got this because we wanted a lot of bread for our table of 5, but personally I only enjoyed the garlic naan out of the three bread options (garlic naan, butter naan, and roti). CHICKEN TIKKA MASALA - 20 The chicken tikka masala was tangy and creamy, but also much too sweet. I wish they let the sweetness of tomatoes shine through, but they definitely added a lot of sugar in the curry. The chicken was cooked well, at least. BUTTER CHICKEN - 20 The butter chicken is a bit more orange in color compared to the chicken tikka masala, and also much more savory and even creamier. Personally, I liked this one more, and I had no complaints with the flavor. I would recommend this if you're looking for a staple. PALAK PANEER - 19 I am a huge palak paneer fan and so is one of my teammates. The curry was a deep evergreen color with lots of paneer chunks. It was spiced pretty nicely and the texture was more smooth than chunky. I personally really enjoyed this and would recommend it for the spinach and cheese lovers! CHICKEN MOMO - 12.50 Each order came with 10, which meant 2 per person! The chicken momos were delicious, and I enjoyed them. This would be a great appetizer to share with a group, but getting it for yourself as an entree is not a bad idea. People also enjoyed the LAMB ROGAN JOSH, but I personally didn't eat much of it enough to comment. There are plenty of beer, wine and cocktail options that my teammates enjoyed. Four entrees, a bread basket, and an appetizer was more than enough for the five of us, and we didn't pay a pretty penny for all of it. The food was fine for the most part, but some missed the mark. If I were to return, I would order the butter chicken, palak paneer, chicken momo, and garlic naan for the group.
