Location has plenty of parking and indoor seating. Hosts were welcoming and our waiter was attentive. I really enjoyed my pineapple martini and loved my added cherries. Food was flavorful and the bread was absolutely delicious!!! Dessert was ok, but presentation was nice. If in VA we will def visit again.

This is the perfect place to celebrate! My partner & i went to celebrate his birthday and we enjoyed everything from the service to the food. The restaurant gives a intimate and romantic vibe. The food was absolutely delicious and very filling! S/o to our server Lara who gave us awesome recommendations and took very good care of us. We will definitely be coming back and i definitely would recommend!

Went here for a mother daughter date for Valentines Day Dinner. BE SURE TO MAKE A RESERVATION! We went at 6pm and it was packed so thank God we had our reservation. Parking is tight, but they had a garage directly across the street and Valet. Ambiance is very cute and nice. I wasn't too fond of the table we were at as it was flimsy and close to the neighboring table. Oyster Rockefeller was terrible very soupy and taste was bad. Cesar salad was super basic. However, the steak and lobster were good. My martini was perfect and my daughter loved the lemonade. Deserts were a heart shaped chocolate cake which was superb. I will go again on a regular weekend to see how the food compares as valentines was very busy.

We came here for lunch during restaurant week and it was so packed I definitely recommend getting a reservation! The food was excellent- we really enjoyed the steak frites, crab bisque, and chocolate mousse! The whole restaurant was so pretty and the service was very kind and fast! Definitely worth it

I walked here from my hotel and it was cold outside. When I walked in, I appreciated the warm vibe inside. Since I was by myself, I sat at the bar. The service was adequate. I ordered a bottle of wine and filled my own wine glass. Bartender did check in on me after my food arrived and when I appeared ready to pay. The food arrived a little quicker than I expected, which was great. My steak was cooked perfectly, had great flavor and was tender. I loved the crispy skin on the baked potato as I eat that part too, but did have to brush off a good bit of salt. I like mine with just sour cream, but you can order it loaded. The truffle butter mushrooms were truly delicious.

I've always enjoyed J. Gilbert's, but this visit was disappointing. The service was unusually slow, and when the food finally arrived, it wasn't very warm. The shrimp were overcooked and not as described on the menu. Overall, the quality seems to have gone downhill from what it used to be. Unfortunately, I'll probably look elsewhere next time. The sour cream and onion martini tasted nothing like sour cream and onion

My mom felt very special dining here for her birthday as I made a reservation and let the restaurant know what we were celebrating! All the food was absolutely delicious and definitely the best steak I've probably ever had. The server was very attentive and knowledgable since it was our first time dining here (won't be our last). Thank you J. Gibert's for making our dinner so special.

We've been coming to J Gilbert's for years, mostly for steakhouse dinners. We had a not so great experience two years ago and hesitated coming back. This past weekend we checked out the Sunday brunch for my father's 80th birthday. It was wonderful. The brunch features oysters, shrimp, bagel and lox, and omelette station, fresh carved prime rib, lots of desserts... there's table delivered waffle service although we did not take part in that. The service was excellent, and the price was just right. I'm glad we went back and gave them another try :-)

Came here with my wife for a date night and the restaurant was fairly busy for a Monday night, but had made a reservation and it was easy to do that with OpenTable and had to change it a couple of times because of traffic. Inside the host was friendly and sat us down with no problems. Our waitress was kind and welcoming, we had gotten a nice table near the fireplace (wasn't on) and had a nice date night feel to the place. The food First the bread that they bring out to you was a hot sourdough bread that was really good with great butter choices, rosemary butter and a regular butter that was both really tasty. I had ordered calamari as an appetizer and it was nice to see some variation to it with some fried red peppers and Pepperoncini. The chunks of cheese on top added great flavor. The calamari itself, was pretty decent, slighting too chewy than I'd like but soft enough to enjoy, overall. 3/5 My wife got the crab bisque soup which was 5/5! at first it kinda strange cause they bring a bowl with a lump of crab in the middle and it was confusing (probably to show that there's real crab inside) then they poured the bisque/soup on top. I dunno what it was about the soup, but with the crab and the flavors of the soup, so good. She also got the salmon and that was for me 3.5/5? I wasn't sure if I like the maple profile of the salmon but what made it taste great was how moist and tender that salmon was. Cooked perfectly! I had gotten the bone-in ribeye steak with Au gratin. Wow first of all the Au gratin was 4/5, great! The cheesiness plus the crisp cheese on top made it very enjoyable. The steak on the other-hand.... Had left me wanting more, which is sad because that was the reason I wanted to eat here. It was so tough, I really had to work for the steak, which I really don't enjoy. The flavor was good and the char was good. The butter was good, I got the truffle butter which was subtle truffle and good flavor, but unfortunately couldn't save the steak. 2.5/5 TLDR Sides and soup were amazing! Salmon was cooked perfectly Ribeye was so tough that it wasn't enjoyable

First time at Gilbert's and overall a really great experience. Service was absolutely exceptional. Our server Tim B. was honestly one of the best we've ever had. Super friendly, upbeat, attentive, and just made the whole evening more fun. The food was good, but a few things kept it from being perfect. The miso sea bass was cooked well but definitely needed more seasoning and sauce. There was a small drizzle of sauce on the plate, but not enough to balance the dish -- and most of it had dried onto the plate so I had to scrape it up to use it. We also ordered several steaks and 3 of the 4 came out overcooked. Desserts were good. I had been looking forward to the 24-layer cake. It was huge for sure but a bit dry so I was a bit disappointed. Still, we really enjoyed the night, and the service alone makes Gilbert's worth a visit. With a little more consistency on the food, this would have easily been a 5-star experience.

Always a wonderful time. The steak is still delicious, everything still taste the same, the service is still great, it's just a wonderful place. This time however, I was delighted to see that they had Crème de Violet on the drink menu. I asked if they would make me an Aviation, and they were more than happy to do so. Quite possibly the best managed restaurant in Northern Virginia.

I am actually ashamed I never have been here before. Nice old type steak house. Perfect service. Went here on restaurant week and was very impressed. As good as DC restaurant week - does not happen in NVA. I more accurate review would need another visit. But it's a winner.

Honestly this is the best restaurant in the DMV & it isn't even close. The price point, the service, the quality... none of it can be beaten. I've never had a bad meal here

Rather than ordering through a QR code, place your order at the bar and then you'll get a text alert when the food is ready for pick-up at the long table closest to the bar. The line is always pretty short and you can get a drink within 5-10 min, the food takes longer and even up to 1/2 hour for fries. I would stick to the beer on draft, the cocktails can be hit/miss depending on the bartender, the draft drinks tend to have better consistency. The Wildberry Mule cocktail and Pina Colada Sangria and Peach Seltzer on draft were my picks while the Bourbon Smash, Passionfruit Mojito, Pina Colada Mojito, and the Passionfruit Seltzer were misses. On the flip side, the bartenders poured a generous amount of Prosecco for Mimosas, much appreciated! The bottled Angry Orchard apple cider is generally my go-to. There's always a mocktail on the menu (came in handy when I was pregnant!) The new battered fries are so much better than last year! The menu is limited with simple bar food (bbq pulled pork sandwich, burger, grilled cheese, hot dog, fries, kettle chips). Wish there were more vegetarian options like charcuterie board, hummus and crackers, nachos, mac and cheese, etc. While I give credit for having a Veggie Burger on the menu, it's sad and disappointing. It has a very smoky meaty flavor (from the grill, not the patty) with lackluster toppings - the vegan cheese is disgusting. I would swap out the kettle chips and pay the upcharge for fries. The doughy pretzel sticks are quite salty and a step up from the movie theater. They are good for absorbing the alcohol! Despite these minor complaints, I love coming here with family and fries. So glad The Perch opened up, Starr Hill Biergarten is a great spot to kick back and relax with a beer or 2!

Recently, Eater DC published a list of what they considered the best steakhouses in the DMV…read more Randy's made the list. We were looking for a place to have our anniversary dinner. After seeing the list, we chose Randy's. Randy's is a Great American Restaurant, and I must say it's so good to go to a GAR with a menu different from the others. In the past, I've written about how one can go to Coastal Flats and get pretty much the same menu as, for example, Jackson's. We made a reservation for 5 p.m. on a Saturday. We arrived about a half hour early, so we asked if they could seat us right then and there. The people at the host stand said "yes". We were seated at a 4-top booth. Thus, there was plenty of room. The booths, which have mohair seat coverings, were a shade of green and quite attractive. The environment clearly says "upscale steakhouse." Our server was prompt in getting to us and asked if we wanted some water. We chose tap water. He gave us time to look over the menu. We decided to not have any appetizers as we didn't want to get too full. To drink, my husband got a glass of Catena Malbec while I got an Espresso Martini. Our server asked if we wanted some bread. We said "yes". The bread basket had 2 flaky, buttery croissants, plus a slice of white bread and a slice with raisins. For our main course, we both got the 7 oz. filet mignon cooked medium rare. We chose to try two sides. One side was "roasted asparagus" which consists of: "poached egg, parmesan (we asked for no cheese and our request was honored), truffled Bernaise aioli". The second side was "Honey roasted organic rainbow carrots," which were "dusted with candied walnuts". As for the food --- We both thought our steaks were properly cooked, However, my husband said his was on the dry side while mine was just right. We both really enjoyed the side dishes. The asparagus was unconventional, to be sure. Never did I have a poached egg with asparagus. I ate the egg, and it was properly cooked. Looking back, I should have thought to put some salt on it as there was none. The truffled sauce was creamy and added nice flavor. The carrots, to me anyway, were a pleasant surprise. The honey added a nice flavor along with the candied walnuts. They, too, were cooked perfectly. As for being "rainbow" carrots, most were orange, with some white and yellow ones. We had some room for dessert, so we decided to share "Tressa's crispy meringue filled with lemon curd and finished with passionfruit coulis". Since it was our anniversary dinner, a dollop of whipped cream was added to the plate. In that dollop was a lit candle, which was a nice touch. I found the coulis to be on the tart side. The lemon curd was mildly flavored. Service was excellent, though dessert took a while ,to arrive. All in all, a nice splurge and we're glad we came here. (Well...we didn't care for the traffic on Leesburg Pike, but the dinner made it worth the trip).
