    Oysters Rockefeller

Visited the maple room after recommendation. The place has great atmosphere. Calm and lit but not too brightly. Service was great. I had the tuna steak and my wife had the salmon. The tuna was great. The salmon was good, but it comes with sunchoke puree, which may be an acquired taste. The crème brûlée was amazing, but there was no coffee available this cold night to go with dessert, which was disappointing. We had the oyster Rockefeller as an appetizer and they were amazing. They also have some great mocktails. I had the chai mule with ginger beer, which didn't disappoint.

Was worried with the lower reviews but really impressed by the food. The salmon was great and the vegetables were cooked perfectly. I loved the sunchoke puree it was on. Hospitality was nice. Everyone was very friendly there. Only thing that somehow needs work is their Caesar salad. Cheese was not a great addition to me. Bread on top was not needed but also slightly stale.

We had a 5:30 reservation before we went to the Erykah Badu concert at Wolf Park. It was pretty steady when we arrived but filled up quickly. Beautiful ambiance and the host had an upbeat attitude as soon as we walked in. The manager was very charismatic, complimented us, and played 'Window Seat' later on in the evening (we sat in a booth by the window) as playful banter. We ordered 1/2 dozen oysters to start along with a glass of pinot noir, Pearadise Bloom Margarita and a Virgin in Pearadise (mocktail). We weren't too happy with the margarita - maybe a different spirit but it tasted like potpourri and a little too earthy. We had the branzino, seabass special and lamb chops and shared brussels sprouts and lobster mac. All of the dishes were good; they could've been delicious but lost a star because everything was lukewarm - like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for awhile. Our server Vlad was knowledgeable and helpful with the recommendations, but had he checked on us more, I think we could've addressed our food not being hot. There were 3 other tables that were sat after us and all of them received their food first. Dinner ended with a Granny Smith Apple Pie that was delectable! While service could've been more considerate when it came to serving our dinner, it was an overall good experience. Perfect place for a family dinner, date night or social hour

TL;DR: cute interior, but disappointing food (especially entrees)/experience especially for the price. Came here for a special occasion, and around 7PM it was very busy, so recommend a reservation if you are going to try it out. When you first enter, the interior is decorated very cutely with great date night vibes. However, the noise levels were very loud and it was difficult to hear each other/grab a server's attention. SERVICE (3/5) Our server was nice, but we only saw him when he took our order and when we got our check (chalk it up to how busy it was). There are multiple food runners/wait staff on standby, so we were able to get their attention when we needed something. We saw all the tables had complimentary bread, but after 20-25 minutes from ordering and then getting our appetizers, we didn't have any, so we had to ask for it. FOOD: ~Complimentary bread (4/5): very good - crispy crust and soft interior ~Crab Cake Tots (3/5): Old bay seasoning was very strong. The texture was an interesting mix between a crab cake and mashed potatoes. It was an novel dish, but just okay overall ~Pork Belly (2.9/5): The meat was tough in places, and the sauce/meat was overly salty. The slaw that came with it was able to help cut through it a little bit ~Lobster mac and cheese (3.5/5): The flavor of the sauce was good, but a little too thin, so it didn't stick to the pasta very well. The parm cheese topping was dry and chewy ~Mushrooms and pearl onions side (2.5/5): was lacking flavor and just overall not cooked well. The pearl onions were on the larger side, so the inner parts were not cooked through which left the sharp spicy taste in my mouth. Added a little salt to it but it only helped so much ~Grilled Prawns (1/5): "Prawns" were just normal sized shrimp. It was severely overcooked and rubbery (I only ate 1). The pasta that came with it was flavorless and the noodles were cooked down so far that it was almost mushy. The sauce had no flavor, just oily texture. ~Boneless ribeye (2/5): This steak had a real steak house price tag to it, but gave me grocery store butcher's special vibes. It was a thin cut, under seasoned, and cooked improperly. The meat was rather tough, and the fat was not rendered at all/chewy. Overall, we had a pretty poor experience here, but maybe we ordered the wrong things or it was a bad day. It was an expensive and disappointing meal.

What a pleasant surprise!! We came in for an early dinner on a Saturday at 5pm. First of all, the place is gorgeous!!! I mean the decor and care in every detail was impressive. There are comfy seats and it's very beautiful. The staff are wonderful. They are all professional, friendly, and helpful. I highly recommend coming in a little earlier as it fills up around 6:30pm. We made reservations and were seated right away. All of our food was so delicious!!! Honestly their potato puree side was just the best I've had in a long time. The chocolate pyramid was also above and beyond. My husband's NY strip was perfectly cooked and my branzino was great. If it's a special occasion or you want to splurge on an expensive meal, I highly recommend you try the Maple Room!!

Parking was easy, service was great, and space was beautiful! I loved the presentation for the food and wish we had gotten a little more clarification on the bone marrow/steak because we thought it would come with actual bone marrow but alas, perhaps a misstep on our whole party's part for being too excited. The space was clean, bright, and loved the big windows so we could also enjoy the beauty of Vienna while dining. We all got cocktails to start and while they sounded great on paper, we all switched to wine afterwards bc there was no clear winner for the cocktail round. The portions of food are a bit smaller side but perfect for one person; think we've all gotten so used to big portions but for the price, would have loved a little more on our plates.

Found my new place! Went a couple of times for dinner and forgot to write a review. Items were delicious. Recently went again, but sat at the bar. Definitely different feel. Loved just hanging out at the bar, trying different drinks and food. Tried Mr.D, which has pineapple flavor. If you like pineapple, you'll enjoy this cocktail. The Barolo wine was just right with our appetizers and fries. The grilled shrimp was so tender, cooked perfectly. Forgot to take a picture of the lamp chop lollipops. Delicious! Perfect size to eat as small bite with drinks. Also got the mussels w/ fries. Both were nice and hot. Not only was the food tasty, the bartender made our evening enjoyable. Very personable and attentive. They say the people make a place great and Fred definitely deserves to be recognized. Will be going back to hear his next suggestions.

Hate to bring it down to a 2 star after a lovely dinner a year ago, but tonight it was definitely a big miss. My husband made a 7:45 reservation for a post Valentine's Day dinner (Feb 25). We arrived at 7:30, however we were not seated until 8:10. There was a loud party taking up half the bar area, we assumed we would be seated in the dining room as we had a reservation, however we were seated in the bar area, in a cramped space near the bar. It was SO loud we could barely hear each other speak. Not the romantic meal we were expecting. Dinner was good, we opted not to have dessert bc it was just too loud! Main highlight was the lovely hostess that handed me a rose on my way out.

Took a friend here for a special birthday dinner. Beautiful interior and overall the food was delicious though very small servings. We had the gnocchi and tuna poke for starters, the wedge salad and shrimp pasta, truffle fries and raspberry white chocolate bread pudding. The bread and honey butter were good. The service was unfortunately horrible. It took at least ten minutes even for a waiter to come to our table and at least 15-20 minutes between drinks, apps, main course, dessert and the check. We had to look for our waiter and it was almost a three hour meal. Neither our waiter or the busboys were super friendly. For a Wed night, they were not busy so there should not have been any reason for the snail pace dinner.

Maple room has become a staple for us. We come in for cocktails and dinner at least twice a month. Always solid food. It's a beautiful restaurant with great vibes, music, and service. Things we ordered and loved: We recently went for brunch. The hash browns are nice and buttery. The shrimp and grits were amazing. The eggs were perfectly poached and pillowy, the shrimp was delicious, and I loved the addition of lamb merguez sausage and edamame. The chicken ceaser was also nice. Seafood tower...who can complain about that? Delicious oysters, huge shrimp, and lobster. Yum! The roasted half chicken is one of my faves. It comes with potato puree, Brussels sprouts and chicken jus to top it. I highly recommend this restaurant for brunch and dinner or cocktails. It's a great atmosphere

This place used to be Amphora, a diner with a menu the size of an encyclopedia. It was weird seeing the place completely renovated and all fancy. Overall though, my wife and I had a great experience starting the moment we walked in. The Maitre D or host (unsure of title) was amazing - very warm and convivial like Arthur Bucco. Food was fantastic but that's always subjective so will instead focus on the service: exceptional. Appetizers, cocktails, entrees, everything was served faster than expected and presentation was top notch. The staff is incredibly courteous and actually have a great sense of humor as well since they laughed at my dumb carrot joke (I realize what I'm saying). And to top it off, we were served champagne flutes from a very rare bottle to celebrate our wedding anniversary. And before I forget, I would like to point out that the dessert portions are actually larger than what you would have a restaurant of this caliber. The crème brûlée trio is definitely enough for two people. Absolute must go if you live in the area, actually even if you don't - it's definitely worth a detour/long drive.

Gorgeous space, can't believe it used to be Amphora! Went for their happy/social hours at the bar - great deal, so delish!!! Manhattan was perfect, service top notch - loved the experience!

    Delicious pinot noir.

My husband is a die-had Arsenal fan and was overjoyed by the chaotic bar scene he encountered as soon as he entered. The City + Arsenal game had the entire bar packed with fans from both sides pulling up random seats wherever there was a free space. We came a bit late into the game but found a seat in a quieter area of the restaurant that still had good television access. With the dreary rain outside, it felt like we had settled right in a proper British pub! Food wise: - For my husband: Wings were generous, grilled, and delicious with interesting flavors - For me: Fish and chips were light, flakey, and came with some of the best house cut fries I've ever had. - For the kiddos: Although they had a kids menu, my daughters decided to split some pancakes (basically crepes with raspberries and cream sauce, scrambled eggs, bacon, and potatoes. They offer a prix-fixe menu that changes seasonally (?) for brunch and dinner. The ingredients here are high-quality and well prepared and cared for before serving. I've heard great things about Maple Ave from a friends, so I took my family here for dinner this past Wednesday. We really enjoyed the creativity of how the dishes were crafted and plated here and the execution was also phenomenal. This time around, it was 59.00 per person for a 4-course prix-fixe dinner (two appetizers, one entree, and one dessert). Since there were only a couple options per section, we were able to try all the options they had. FIRST: APPLE HAZELNUT SOUP Creamy, pale colored soup with a thicker consistency similar to butternut squash soup. It was lightly sweet, yet savory at the same time. There were some pickled apples and toasted hazelnuts delicately sprinkled on top that added a bit of a crunch. The soup was unique and we enjoyed it. FIRST: ROOTCAKE Between the rootcake and the apple hazelnut soup, the rootcake was my favorite. The vegetables were caramelized and made into a patty, topped generously with almonds with some umami aïoli and pimenton sauce. The rootcake was so good. Each bite was hearty and rich, and it's such a unique way to prepare vegetables. The sauce enhanced each bite and the almonds provided a nutty texture. I would recommend the rootcake as your first option. SECOND: CRISPY SQUASH NUGGETS I didn't think I would enjoy the crispy squash nuggets as much as I did. The roasted squash is breaded with panko crumbs, sitting in some dill yogurt sauce and topped with some raisins and radish. The squash were perfectly seasoned and crispy with a soft interior that left my taste buds wanting more. The dill yogurt sauce was a good complement. I'd definitely recommend this option if you're not a fan of mushrooms and/or you want something more crispy. SECOND: WILD MUSHROOM RISOTTO One of the best mushroom risottos I've ever had. It's rich and creamy, filled with truffle flavor. The shiitake mushrooms had a dry, crispy texture. The manchego shavings on top were a great plus. The squash was used for coloring and probably some flavoring? Not sure. The whole thing was really good and memorable. I'd definitely recommend! THIRD: SHRIMP I'm not a huge fan of shrimp, but my family loved it along with the citrus braised fennel. I was a fan of the creamy semolina, though! Overall, it wasn't for me, but that's more of a personal preference. THIRD: PORK CONFIT STEAK The pork they used was pork belly (?) and seared very nicely, topped with perfectly crispy potatoes, mangoes (?), brown butter sweet potato puree and chimi churri sauce. The pork belly melted in my mouth but as someone who's not the biggest fan of fatty pork, I wish it was a leaner cut. The potatoes were so good and went well with the sweet potato puree. Even though I didn't love the pork confit steak, I'd recommend this entree over the shrimp. FOURTH: MOCK FRIED "APPLE" PIE It was zucchini instead of apple and you can't even tell. I loved the crispy pie exterior which was lightly topped with cinnamon. The vanilla bean ice cream was my favorite as it was creamy and smooth. The dulce de leche and lavender honey were nice touches. Very nice way to end the meal. All the food here were so rich with lots of complex flavors. Each dish was so beautifully plated with many vibrant colors. We were quite full after all the food we ate. I would recommend coming here with another person to try all the options they offer here! The food here is unique and well-executed, and I'd be open to come back to try a different seasonal menu.
