I friend their squid ink pasta dish for my meal. Others around me tried their steak. Everyone enjoyed the food, including the delicious desserts..everyone was talking about affogatos with such delight, I decided to try it. Wow!!' After so many disappointing dining experiences lately, finally we found a restaurant that delivers the goods! The Maple Room has a nice layout with interesting spaces. I roamed the floor for a bit and found it had multiple areas and a large bar section. The vibe is really good. Multiple seating arrangements, with banquets and tables. Our party of 4 sat at a table in a center area and still felt comfortable and not overly exposed. We were able to converse well and not be drowned out by traffic or noise. The service was outstanding and very professional. Attentive but not overbearing. We ordered drinks, appetizers, main course, and dessert. Everything was delicious and presentation was wonderful. I visited here recently for dinner to celebrate a special occasion with a group of friends, and it did not disappoint! We picked it really just based on reviews and needing somewhere in Vienna, but I wish it were closer to DC as I would go back all the time. I ordered a filet which was cooked to perfection and just delicious--not too gamey, and with a lovely sear. My friend and I shared the appetizer portion of the gnocchi as our side and immediately regretted not getting the entree portion. I may have been even better than the steak. I desperately want to go back and get it as my full meal, but I know they're changing the menu soon and not sure if it's sticking around. The service, decor, cocktails, and dessert were also all great. Would definitely recommend. read more

Visited the maple room after recommendation. The place has great atmosphere. Calm and lit but not too brightly. Service was great. I had the tuna steak and my wife had the salmon. The tuna was great. The salmon was good, but it comes with sunchoke puree, which may be an acquired taste. The crème brûlée was amazing, but there was no coffee available this cold night to go with dessert, which was disappointing. We had the oyster Rockefeller as an appetizer and they were amazing. Was worried with the lower reviews but really impressed by the food. The salmon was great and the vegetables were cooked perfectly. I loved the sunchoke puree it was on. Hospitality was nice. We had a 5:30 reservation before we went to the Erykah Badu concert at Wolf Park. It was pretty steady when we arrived but filled up quickly. Beautiful ambiance and the host had an upbeat attitude as soon as we walked in. The manager was very charismatic, complimented us, and played 'Window Seat' later on in the evening (we sat in a booth by the window) as playful banter. We ordered 1/2 dozen oysters to start along with a glass of pinot noir, Pearadise Bloom Margarita and a Virgin in Pearadise (mocktail). We weren't too happy with the margarita - maybe a different spirit but it tasted like potpourri and a little too earthy. We had the branzino, seabass special and lamb chops and shared brussels sprouts and lobster mac. All of the dishes were good; they could've been delicious but lost a star because everything was lukewarm - like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for awhile. Our server Vlad was knowledgeable and helpful with the recommendations, but had he checked on us more, I think we could've addressed our food not being hot. There were 3 other tables that were sat after us and all of them received their food first. Dinner ended with a Granny Smith Apple Pie that was delectable! TL;DR: cute interior, but disappointing food (especially entrees)/experience especially for the price. Came here for a special occasion, and around 7PM it was very busy, so recommend a reservation if you are going to try it out. When you first enter, the interior is decorated very cutely with great date night vibes. However, the noise levels were very loud and it was difficult to hear each other/grab a server's attention. SERVICE (3/5) Our server was nice, but we only saw him when he took our order and when we got our check (chalk it up to how busy it was). There are multiple food runners/wait staff on standby, so we were able to get their attention when we needed something. We saw all the tables had complimentary bread, but after 20-25 minutes from ordering and then getting our appetizers, we didn't have any, so we had to ask for it. FOOD: ~Complimentary bread (4/5): very good - crispy crust and soft interior ~Crab Cake Tots (3/5): Old bay seasoning was very strong. The texture was an interesting mix between a crab cake and mashed potatoes. It was an novel dish, but just okay overall ~Pork Belly (2.9/5): The meat was tough in places, and the sauce/meat was overly salty. The slaw that came with it was able to help cut through it a little bit ~Lobster mac and cheese (3.5/5): The flavor of the sauce was good, but a little too thin, so it didn't stick to the pasta very well. The parm cheese topping was dry and chewy ~Mushrooms and pearl onions side (2.5/5): was lacking flavor and just overall not cooked well. The pearl onions were on the larger side, so the inner parts were not cooked through which left the sharp spicy taste in my mouth. Added a little salt to it but it only helped so much ~Grilled Prawns (1/5): "Prawns" were just normal sized shrimp. It was severely overcooked and rubbery (I only ate 1). The pasta that came with it was flavorless and the noodles were cooked down so far that it was almost mushy. The sauce had no flavor, just oily texture. ~Boneless ribeye (2/5): This steak had a real steak house price tag to it, but gave me grocery store butcher's special vibes. It was a thin cut, under seasoned, and cooked improperly. The meat was rather tough, and the fat was not rendered at all/chewy. What a pleasant surprise!! We came in for an early dinner on a Saturday at 5pm. First of all, the place is gorgeous!!! I mean the decor and care in every detail was impressive. There are comfy seats and it's very beautiful. The staff are wonderful. They are all professional, friendly, and helpful. I highly recommend coming in a little earlier as it fills up around 6:30pm. We made reservations and were seated right away. All of our food was so delicious!!! Honestly their potato puree side was just the best I've had in a long time. The chocolate pyramid was also above and beyond. My husband's NY strip was perfectly cooked and my branzino was great. Parking was easy, service was great, and space was beautiful! I loved the presentation for the food and wish we had gotten a little more clarification on the bone marrow/steak because we thought it would come with actual bone marrow but alas, perhaps a misstep on our whole party's part for being too excited. The space was clean, bright, and loved the big windows so we could also enjoy the beauty of Vienna while dining. We all got cocktails to start and while they sounded great on paper, we all switched to wine afterwards bc there was no clear winner for the cocktail round. Had an okay dinner here in the springtime. Tuna tartare app, cocktails, wine and I had the scallop special. I was surprised when the check came, the dish alone was $60! Granted it came with 5 large scallops and hen of the woods mushrooms. We made a reservation for brunch and seated right away. We ordered the pastry basket...which never arrived. We asked several staff, and were told "they're baking it now." It arrived 30 minutes in, and it looked like a basket of premade items from a box bought at the supermarket. Then our meals arrived, the French toast I ordered was raw egg soaked bread & when pressed the raw egg spread all over the plate...disgusting. I sent it back for it to be cooked properly, and it came back browned on the outside but still raw on the inside. Found my new place! Went a couple of times for dinner and forgot to write a review. Items were delicious. Recently went again, but sat at the bar. Definitely different feel. Loved just hanging out at the bar, trying different drinks and food. Tried Mr.D, which has pineapple flavor. If you like pineapple, you'll enjoy this cocktail. The Barolo wine was just right with our appetizers and fries. The grilled shrimp was so tender, cooked perfectly. Forgot to take a picture of the lamp chop lollipops. Delicious! Perfect size to eat as small bite with drinks. Also got the mussels w/ fries. Both were nice and hot. Not only was the food tasty, the bartender made our evening enjoyable. Hate to bring it down to a 2 star after a lovely dinner a year ago, but tonight it was definitely a big miss. My husband made a 7:45 reservation for a post Valentine's Day dinner (Feb 25). We arrived at 7:30, however we were not seated until 8:10. There was a loud party taking up half the bar area, we assumed we would be seated in the dining room as we had a reservation, however we were seated in the bar area, in a cramped space near the bar. It was SO loud we could barely hear each other speak. Not the romantic meal we were expecting. Dinner was good, we opted not to have dessert bc it was just too loud! Took a friend here for a special birthday dinner. Beautiful interior and overall the food was delicious though very small servings. We had the gnocchi and tuna poke for starters, the wedge salad and shrimp pasta, truffle fries and raspberry white chocolate bread pudding. The bread and honey butter were good. The service was unfortunately horrible. It took at least ten minutes even for a waiter to come to our table and at least 15-20 minutes between drinks, apps, main course, dessert and the check. We had to look for our waiter and it was almost a three hour meal. Neither our waiter or the busboys were super friendly. For a Wed night, they were not busy so there should not have been any reason for the snail pace dinner. read more

Maple room has become a staple for us. We come in for cocktails and dinner at least twice a month. Always solid food. It's a beautiful restaurant with great vibes, music, and service. Things we ordered and loved: We recently went for brunch. The hash browns are nice and buttery. The shrimp and grits were amazing. The eggs were perfectly poached and pillowy, the shrimp was delicious, and I loved the addition of lamb merguez sausage and edamame. The chicken ceaser was also nice. Seafood tower...who can complain about that? Delicious oysters, huge shrimp, and lobster. Yum! The roasted half chicken is one of my faves. This place used to be Amphora, a diner with a menu the size of an encyclopedia. It was weird seeing the place completely renovated and all fancy. Overall though, my wife and I had a great experience starting the moment we walked in. The Maitre D or host (unsure of title) was amazing - very warm and convivial like Arthur Bucco. Food was fantastic but that's always subjective so will instead focus on the service: exceptional. Appetizers, cocktails, entrees, everything was served faster than expected and presentation was top notch. The staff is incredibly courteous and actually have a great sense of humor as well since they laughed at my dumb carrot joke (I realize what I'm saying). And to top it off, we were served champagne flutes from a very rare bottle to celebrate our wedding anniversary. And before I forget, I would like to point out that the dessert portions are actually larger than what you would have a restaurant of this caliber. The crème brûlée trio is definitely enough for two people. Absolute must go if you live in the area, actually even if you don't - it's definitely worth a detour/long drive. read more

Maple room is a beautiful restaurant! They have the lounge area that you can still enjoy your meal, and super cozy! And they have a dining area as well. Everyone is really attentive and nice. The meal was lovely! We started with a salad and pork belly. The pork belly was tender and juicy, the table next to us saw our plate and decided to order it as well. My husband got the steak and the server waited for him to cut into it to ensure the temperature was just right. I was going to order one of the specials, but unfortunately they ran out. A great option in Vienna once they figure out what they are. Fine dining, steak house, raw bar, lounge, or nice neighborhood restaurant? They haven't figured that out yet. The main dining room makes sense- the bar and lounge area are more confusing. Sit at the bar - you can have the bar or main menu. Sit at a table where you can touch the people at the bar, main menu only. This side of the restaurant is more lounge because of demand, they converted these tables to main (in lounge) dining - this means main dining menu only for you. The food is very good. The entrees were good and the steak was above average. The sides were a bit disappointing - truffle fries ok and the creamed spinach was more like a hot cheese side with little spinach added. The wine menu is well priced and better than average. I struggled with this rating, it is almost a 5 but the menu and prices/value make it a solid 4.4 for me right now. read more

Day two as the opened in a Sunday but then were closed on Monday. Grabbed an early reservation for dinner... Things started out amazing and off to a five star dining experience... but it's still in opening and some kinks need to get worked out... hence I reluctantly have to drop this initial rating to 4 stars! Things started off well with very nice just staff. Appreciated that they took our needs into account on seating. We ended up in a booth overlooking maple avenue. One thing that did become obvious... a two top table just would have been cramped once you order drinks, bread basket, appetizers.... Glad we were in the larger booth! On the other hand if your fluffy the booths are anchored to the wall... so you can't adjust spacing if needed... The featured cocktail list has some intriguing combos. I couldn't resist the The Forager... mushroom bourbon? Smoke???? It was quite nice ... hubby had the Blue Skies and this drink was very refreshing and fun with its changing colors into a purple pink... I forgot to ask what blue magic was. We also ordered a small charcuterie board to share... a lovely platter of three nests, two cheeses, plus olives, peppers, marinated veggies and more! I wasn't a fan of the crostini from the board as the warm bread provided to each table was to me a better accompaniment. The bread was so nice to I'm thinking a cracker option might be better here... hubby was slightly disappointed as he adores blue cheese which we didn't get... it was Brie and another cheese (dang can't remember)... overall a nice board perfect with our drinks On our mains hubby opted for the filet and mushrooms to go with. He thought if other options but he is watching his carbs do decided to be good... I opted for the truffle gnocchi on the starter area as my main. The filet was perfectly cooked! Plus just the perfect amount of salt to enhance the meat. My gnocchi was a tasty plate but I prefer my gnocchi to have more tooth to them ... these were very soft pillows. On the mushrooms they were very good and served with pearl onions. It was not noted on the menu but the mushrooms are a mix of different types... if I had known that we probably wouldn't have ordered as he tends to really only like button or portobello... but they were tasty! Hubby opted for an off the menu red wine pour they were doing... I only remember the no tannins part and he really enjoyed it. At this point the dining room is quite full and getting loud. Acoustics I think will need to be addressed. It was also obvious that something had to be happening back of house as the wait staff were noticeably missing from the dining rooms. It's only day two so I'm sure these links will get sorted! Hubby finally ordered an after dinner drink... he would face liked a port but not yet available... that Im expecting will get corrected! They had some other options but he opted for a nice scotch! To get honest we were full at this point and wasn't going to do dessert... that said I can't comment on options as this part of the menu was never presented. Yes some intriguing options.... FOOD: (2/5) I can't remember exactly what we got but we had the duck confit and this was a complete ripoff, I recall it was around $40? And it was a few slices of duck instead of what usually is served elsewhere. Everything else was so mediocre I can't even speak on it. SERVICE: (1.5/5) there was almost no one else there that day, we sat in the not as windowed room. There were a few couples in that brighter room. Our waiter, a guy, was chatting up people at the bar, taking his time, and never once came to check on us or fill water until we had to flag him down. Looked at us very strangely when we were ordering too. COST: (0/5) again priced way too high for no service and mediocre food, and terribly small bites. AMBIANCE: (4/5) I can tell if it were packed that this place would be very warm. Unfortunately our party was tucked away, and service again was severely lacking. Came here for our anniversary dinner and decided to try a local restaurant for a change. The food itself was very good, but the service left us feeling uncomfortable and disappointed. We ordered a bottle of wine and were about to order a second. However, we noticed that every table around us was ordering wine by the carafe and receiving pours that appeared noticeably larger than a single glass. After checking the menu and seeing that the pricing for wine by the glass versus by the bottle was very similar, we decided to order a couple of different wines by the glass instead. When our drinks arrived, they were served in standard glasses measured at 5 oz. I noticed that no one else around us was being served wine in a glass; everyone else was receiving wine from carafes. I double-checked the menu to see if there were different glass sizes such as 5 oz versus 7 to 8 oz, but no such options were listed. I asked our server why everyone else was being served from a carafe while we were the only ones receiving wine in glasses. His response was that a glass is 5 oz and that he gave me a little extra because he liked me. This did not actually answer the question and made the situation feel even more uncomfortable. Whether intentional or not, we felt treated differently from other guests, possibly because we were not their idea of typical customers. After reading a few other reviews on Yelp, it seems we may not be the only ones who felt this way. This really took away from what was supposed to be a special evening. The food and ambiance were enjoyable, but the service and overall experience left a bad impression. We would have loved to come back, but not after this experience. read more

We tend to prefer nearby places for a last minute dinner date option. We decided to give this place a try, after reading mixed reviews. Upon entering, we were given a tour of seat choices (it was 60%-ish full inside) and we loved that there were different types of seating options (by the swanky bar, cozy and intimate 2-person table, brighter part of the room for larger parties with better accessibility, comfortable booth for a ladies night out, etc.) We picked out seat & overall, here's our take on the first visit. First, service was overall great. There was no wait & just enough check in to make sure we were getting our next orders / drinks in. Food was flavorful & seafood entrees (which we ordered) were of fresh ingredients & delicious. Cocktails were not necessarily a big surprise & interesting but still very pleasant & well balanced. I also loved their wine selections! For those who would only go for 4+ reviews, give this place a try. I will have to edit for initial review back in January of 2024 but most recent visit in August of 2025 was still very much excellent. I sat at the bar around 3pm opening time and ordered the prix fixe meal option selecting the crab tots, salmon with dijon mustard, and apple pie with ice cream (not pictured, I asked for it to go because I was stuffed lol) plus I was given freshly baked bread with the most delicious maple butter. I'm upset I can't recall his name right now but there was a fine English gentleman who sent his staff to the ABC store luckily for me he was able to give me his attention and best suggestions lol he and his staff were really nice to me as I dined solo (there were groups of other patrons mostly drinking). As a long time Vienna resident, it's hard to shake the happy memories of the Amphora when approaching the new Maple Room restaurant.  They have done a great job with the decorating inside to make the space much more elegant and upscale.  The service is also excellent with a very attentive and friendly staff.  The menu features mostly fish and a lot of prime meat.  Although not an overly large menu, there is enough of a variety from which to select.  We had the gnocchi and the pork belly for appetizers.  The pork belly had great flavor and a really nice kick.  T It was our favorite dish of the night. The gnocchi was a lot more subtle but comforting.  It was great to have the fresh rolls for any and every sauce.  When they say those rolls are fresh baked - they mean it and you need to be careful of the hot steam when you open them.  It's very hard to stop eating them and they are really good about bringing additional baskets.  For dinner we had the branzino and the salmon special.  Both were tasty and the servings were generous.  I would have liked even more of the peach salsa with the salmon.  For dessert, we had the chocolate which was good.  Apparently, the star of the show is the caramel apple pie.  We appreciated the selection of mocktails, including one with blue magic that changed color.
