    French onion soup
    Jens J.

We came here for a celebration and there were twelve of us. Though there was some confusion at the front desk as to whether we had a reservation or not, we were finally seated in a private dining room. Clarity's menu is breathtakingly expensive, but the excellent presentation of our dishes did match the prices. As far as the dishes go, flavor and texture-wise, they were very good. But while appealing to the eye, my French onion soup was overly sweet. The dining room in which we were seated was sort of scuffed up. Service was minimal. They took our orders, brought out our food and that was it. Nobody checked on us during the meal. This wasn't quite the experience I expected with these prices.

Came back for the team dinner and was pleasantly surprised with the good service and the tasty food.

Back again and once more thoroughly impressed. We did the Spanish octopus and it was perfectly cooked and generous. Lovely green salad with a great dairy free vinaigrette. Their fish is always not to be missed - always spectacularly fresh and perfectly cooked. The beans it came with reminded me of my French aunties cooking. The steak and hand cut fries were WOW !! Literally i will go in for just those fries and a cocktail !! Best fries I've had bar none!! Pumpkin pie was smooth unctuous and not too sweet. Fabulous apple sorbet on the side, perfect! Always warm and welcoming service with a cozy and comfortable interior.

Good service, expensive prices. Pork belly appetizer: crispy with some kind of sauce. I can't remember what vegetable it came with but couldn't tell if it was some kind of root or an undercooked potato. Fish: cooked well with a mustard sauce. Flavorful.

Absolutely amazing Tiger prawn dish with lobster meat and veggies. I could drink the sauce that comes with this dish just on its own. Amazing! Being able to sit next to the kitchen and watch the staff work their buts off and put out high quality dishes was such a treat. Staff was on top of it and made me feel so welcome. The executive chef even delivered my plate with an explanation of the components. Amazing experience. 10 out of 10! Really knocked it out of the park!

My husband and I spent our 8-year wedding anniversary at Clarity tonight and had a wonderful dining experience. In 2023 they came under new ownership and management, which is a really good thing for them; this evening we met Victor, the Server Captain, who has been there 9 years, and Chef Matt came out as well and greeted us. Our server - I didn't catch her name - was so very lovely. The food was wonderful too. My husband enjoyed the Caesar salad and Scottish salmon as well as the French press coffee from Caffe Amouri (he loved it). I had the tiger prawns first course and my favorite of the evening was the Wild Alaskan Halibut. The cauliflower puree with pineapple and butterbeans with the halibut was to die for. I admit I sopped up the last of the sauce with the bread. Thanks to the team at Clarity for a wonderful anniversary dinner! The service was seamless and perfection along with the food.

My girlfriend took me here for my birthday celebration. Everything I had from beginning to end was amazing. Complimentary bread was warm and delicious, I'm usually a bread-and-butter guy. But olive oil was a good combination. We had French onion soup and pork belly as our starters. I don't remember the last time I had French onion soup, so this was a nice surprise. Just a tad on the salty side, but I think that's how they are usually. The pork belly was very tender, and I love the sauce that come with it. Our main courses were yellowfin tuna and rib eye. I love both, slightly preferred my gf tuna. It was very delicious and the shrimp was great too. Ribeye was a little bit on the rare side when I ordered medium rare. Love the sauce though, they really know what they doing here.

Tried Clarity for the first time tonight to celebrate my birthday. The food was hit and miss, with one particularly bad miss. The meal started with bread and olive oil. The oil was very bitter and needed salt to mellow it out, but there was none in it or on the table. We asked for butter instead and that was much better with flaky salt on top. The lamb pasta and pork belly appetizers were both very good, especially the pasta. The ceasar salad was pretty meh. The menu described it as being a new take on Caesar salad, so I was expecting something interesting, but it was a pretty run-of-the-mill salad. For the mains, the pork schnitzel was pretty terrible - the spaetzel was burnt and the schnitzel was way overseasoned and overly breaded and oily (and burnt). The crust was probably 2x as thick as the pork. We only ate a few bites. The sticky toffee pudding and sorbet were both good. Overall the food was OK, but, other than the pasta, I probably wouldn't go out of my way for it. Service was very good, though, even though it was notes in our reservation, they didn't do anything special for my birthday, which was a little disappointing. We saw others with candles on their desserts.

    Scallops and pork belly

Had reservations but still had to wait 30 min for a table (despite being told 5-10 min). After being seated, it took another 10 min before a waiter showed up to pour water. Other than that, the service was good. Foie gras was great. Good portion. Shrimp app was ok; nothing to write home about. The scallops were good taste wise, but way overpriced for 3 medium-sized scallops. The halibut was well cooked, but small portion for the size. The pear tart dessert. The tart was mediocre but the sorbet on top was good. But overpriced at $18. Overall, an average experience but at these prices, I would have expected better. Especially in terms of portion for all dishes except the Foie Gras. Last little nitpick. When making the reservation, there was a question about whether this was a special occasion and what it was. I checked yes, and filled in the occasion (a big one). No acknowledgement from the staff whatsoever. So why do they ask??? Won't be returning

This is a very nice, modern and upscale restaurant. Food - Very good. They have a seasonal menu and change it very frequently, so they have different dishes almost every day/week. Their Elysian Fields bolognese was delicious. The lemonade is also very good. Service - Good. Reservations are definitely necessary. They are relatively pricey though, as 3 people sharing one appetizer and getting 1 entree each will be minimum $250. Parking - They have a small parking lot outside. Overall, this place is great. Would highly recommend.

Exceptional dining experience at Clarity! The preparation and presentation of the dishes stood out. It's the rare restaurant that offers gluten-free bread. The service is exceptional. Looking forward to returning!

He seemed to know a lot of the customers which makes it feel homey. They gave complimentary bread which came with butter, olive oil, balsamic, and other fixings. The bread was super soft on the inside and had a nice crunch from the exterior. My boyfriend and I ordered the calamari, scaloppini mare terra, fettuccini con funghi, and fettuccini al frutti di mare. In simple terms: calamari, a seafood vodka pasta, fettuccini alfredo w mushroom, and veal with lobster bits served with green beans and scalloped potatoes. Surprisingly, I didn't love the calamari. It had a good size but lacked flavor. It also could have been cooked a tad bit more for better color and texture. The fettuccini alfredo was super creamy and had such a strong mushroom taste! The veal was nice but a bit chewy for my liking. The scalloped potatoes were good but nothing special. However the star of the show was the seafood vodka pasta! It had such an amazing vodka flavor with loads of seafood! I have to admit, they put way too many calamari pieces and not enough of the other items mentioned in the dish. Another thing was that I found a strand of hair on my plate. When I notified the server, he said it was just from the green beans but would exchange it for me. Later, he explained that the "hair" was green bean skin.. which was odd to me considering the hair was turning black to white. I didn't appreciate him trying to make an excuse. I decided to look past it even though the server didn't apologize. Good first experience (other than the piece of hair). The seafood vodka pasta is def a must-have. The vibes are great and the owner makes you feel like family.

However, we never saw Kelly from the time she took our order until we finished eating. She then showed up with an empty wine glass, said the wine order did not get put in, and asked if I still wanted it. I said "no" since we were done with our meal. At that time, I requested the Cheesecake w/cherries for my complimentary dessert, a small box for pizza, and the check. More than 20 minutes later, Kelly brought a box and the check, but no dessert. She then asked if I "had decided" on a dessert. I repeated that I would like Cheesecake with cherries. After nearly 30 minutes there was no sign of our waitress and no dessert. A couple we've befriended told us they lived in Fairfax for several years. They are big fans of Dolce Vita. We were told that a reservation is necessary as the place is popular. We decided to finally try Dolce Vita this past Saturday and reserved a table for an early dinner. When we got there, the place was practically empty. We were seated at a four-top table and were told that they had hosted a large party earlier in the day. They were still rearranging the dining room when we arrived. The staff was friendly and efficient. During our meal, the manager checked on us more than once. Alas, there is no sign in the dining room indicating where the restrooms are, so we asked the server for their location. Sadly, we weren't impressed with the food. We started with a bruschetta appetizer and also ordered some garlic bread. When the bruschetta arrived, it was very attractively presented. It consists of: "roasted garlic, tomatoes, basil, and fresh mozzarella". The bread was tough and chewy, with little garlic flavor. We've had bruschetta before, and it was made with fresh tomatoes. I picked up a piece, bit into it, only to have half of the toppings fall on the table. The fresh mozzarella was basically 4 thin, small slices that one adds to their serving rather than a sizable ball of mozzarella. There was also a small pile of microgreens that were meant to be added to the bruschetta, an unusual addition. I ended up cutting up the bread, which wasn't easy. Nothing like having to fight with one's food. For my main course, I chose "chicken piccata," which consists of "pan-seared chicken and broccolini in a lemon, caper, and white wine sauce". The chicken breast was well prepared, moist, and tender. The sauce was fine, although I wished it had more capers. As for the broccolini, it was barely cooked at all, not even tender crisp. Again, I had to fight with a menu item. My husband chose to have "baked ziti bolognese al forno" which consists of "ricotta, tomato sauce, beef bolognese and mozzarella." He found part of a bay leaf in the dish. The dish was very cheese-forward, and the cow had walked through it, leaving very little of itself behind. In conclusion, we don't plan to return as it was rather disappointing.
