Parallel's creative brunch menu caught my eye, so my wife and I decided to check it out with some friends on a Saturday morning. We made reservations since we were a group of 6 including 2 infants, and these were warranted as the restaurant progressively filled up as we got closer to peak brunch hours. We were offered a large booth, which was appreciated as we needed space for the babies. The food here tasted quite good. My wife ordered the Pork Belly Benedict, which offered tender-crisp, thick slices of braised pork belly atop soft, buttery focaccia and coated with well poached eggs and creamy hollandaise. We both highly enjoyed my Broadlands Breakfast Sandwich, a clever take on a standard bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich swapping crispy, perfectly sweet French toast for standard bread. The breakfast potatoes served alongside were crispy on the outside with fluffy interiors and good seasoning. Our friends enjoyed their sandwiches as well. As the name alludes, the drink program is strong and offers something for everyone. In addition to wine and whisky, a solid selection of both cocktails and draft beers are available. Prices for both food and drinks were quite reasonable given the quality of what we received. I do dock a star for just so-so service. Our waitress was a bit MIA during the first part of our meal when we were trying to order, and then kept checking in on us every 5 minutes once our food arrived. We also had to remind her a few times to get a high chair for our little one. Fortunately, the food and drinks all arrived accurately and within a timely manner once ordered. Service woes aside, the creative fare satisfied our taste buds and we look forward to returning soon for to sample more of the brunch menu and libations. read more

Our first to this local wine and whiskey bar. We had read about their "crazy" hour and "happy hour". The crazy hour was excellent. The drink and food specials were not to be missed. Our fantastic bar server was Abby. She joked about trying everything on the menu... and we almost did. Short of maybe one or two items, we did enjoy all the food. The drink pours really weee generous and the selection of crazy hour wines knocked it out of the park. Ambiance- well lots of outdoor space and garage door walls made it well lit and enjoyable. Grabbed dinner with a couple friends at Parallel last night. My friend selected this restaurant after hearing all great things. We were slightly nervous because no reservations were available online. However, upon check in we were seated immediately. Parallel offers seating at tables or the bar with a low light upscale vibe. The menu was quite impressive with a wide variety of options available. We tried a few of the appetizers and desserts which we found to be delicious. Our meals were decent portions with stunning presentations. I will say service was on the slower side, and that our waiter did have to be reminded about a couple requests. All and all a great spot for a night out with friends! read more

Went during their brunch time (I think 10am-3pm on weekends). Place has a rustic, casual vibe, with such a large alcohol selection from their bar. Their serving portions are pretty large! The avocado toast was fancy-schmancy, with not only the avocado, but topped with arugula, chili oil, and paprika egg, with potatoes on the side! I would say that the toast did get a bit soggy under all the toppings, but otherwise, quite filling. For the grilled cheese and tomato bisque I loved the focaccia bread and the tomato bisque was YUMMY and creamy, although I can't say that I loved the cheese very much. Might be a bit picky because brunch foods aren't usually my thing BUT would definitely come back to try their dinner menu items. read more

Parallel is known in the Ashburn area. Came here to enjoy the great weather and get some food. When you walk in, the bar will be right in front of you with seating area to your right and left. We sat at a 2 person high top. Brendan helped us out. What I first noticed was that the water glasses on the table had lipstick on them. When Brendan came I told him of the glasses and he asked if it was both glasses to which I told him yes, he seemed unfazed and unapologetic. I ordered the slap yo mama chicken sandwich which was awesome. Highly recommend. Also got the wedge salad with salmon which was also very good. The salmon was cooked perfectly and not salty. My rating is based on the dirty glasses and my impression that Brendan seemed bothered at the fact that I pointed them out. I also ordered some food to go including the crème brûlée dessert. Came here with some friends who wouldn't stop talking about how good it was. They were right! I was skeptical going to a wine bar when we are at the foothills of some incredible wineries here in northern Virginia. Parallel, though, is well worth it. They offer an extensive wine list with a dedicated Virginia wine section which is where I spent most of my time. The wine was great but the real star of the show for me was the food. I ordered the Parmesan Duck Fat fries. These large wedges were crisp and delicious. The parmesan was the perfect pairing adding some great flavor. I also ordered the naked chili wings. These wings were awesome. They came served in a cast iron pan which did an awesome job keeping all the flavor contained for the wings. I would go back just to get these wings because they were that good. The ambiance in a Thursday night was relaxed. I had heard they do live music but they didn't on this night which I was happy about since live music can drown out the good conversation. They offer outdoor seating and ample indoor seating as well. We ordered the Stuffed Portabella Mushroom Cap, Allen Brothers Farm NY Strip Steak*, mushroom flatbread and the spicy chicken burger. Going to be completely honest here - all the menu items had an average taste. While the flatbread merited itself a 7/10, everything else a solid 4.5 - 5/10. Not necessarily grotesque or inedible, yet not quite tasty enough for you to associate great taste with this spot. Service is very friendly though, and proactive. If looking for a fun spot to reserve for an event, or to just socialize and grab a few drinks, this place is a 5/5. If you're a foodie like me, and want some good found, it's a 3/5. read more

I believe they have two different entrances, once for where the whiskey tasting/room is and other for wine/dining (I could be wrong...). Vikki was our server, she was super attentive and kept coming by to see if we were ready to order or needed anything else. We ordered a couple drinks and some food to share. They were reasonably priced and tasted great. We asked for burger to be cut in half, and they did...even split the fries, which was perfect! When ordering the wine, I asked Vikki for a recommendation based on my favorite reds and she brought me a sample. Once I finally looked at the wine list, I asked for a sample of the Cigar wine and she brought that as well. Drinks ordered: -Avia Pinot Grigio ($6) -Cigar Bourbon Barrel Cabernet ($10) -Dealer's choice mocktail drink ($8). This is one of my favorite happy hour spots in Ashburn. There is a crazy happy hour from 3-4 PM and then a regular happy hour from 4-6 PM. The food is incredible and so is the service. All of the staff I have encountered are courteous from the moment you enter. In nicer weather the patio is open for customers and it's the perfect way to a Friday afternoon. Poor bartender worked his ass off but I can tell you the 12 tables probably won't be returning. Great place for a date night or night out with friends. It's often my go to spot for a girls night out. Super cute at night with their stringed lights and fire pits in the Winter. They have a big patio that is dog friendly so it's become a favorite local spot for me to bring our new pup. They have a huge drink menu with over 80 wines, more than 100 craft beers, and 300+ bourbon and whiskies. Looking at the list gives me anxiety so I opt for my usual, a mojito. Although my husband loves the fun of selecting a new whiskey to try and my friends usually get a wine flight or some type of fancy champagne. Food is great but small portions for the price. We normally order the smoked cheddar and bacon dip, the wagyu beef sliders, and the angry bird flatbread. Love that the dip comes with these thick chips that you can tell are made in house and fresh bread. The bacon jam on the sliders is the perfect combination of sweet and tangy. The chipotle parmesan ranch that's drizzled over the flatbread has a little kick but I love the creamy consistency. We go often and will continue to come back. Especially for $3 crazy hour from 3:00-4:00pm and $5 happy hour from 4:00-6:00pm. All the years in Ashburn and I've never stopped here! We came with our parents on a warm October weekend and ordered apps, dinner, and drinks. The drink menu was very extensive, with a ton of awesome rare whiskeys my fiancé got to try. I went with the Cigar cab sav which was great and full bodied. Appetizer wise we enjoyed the duck fat fries and the fried green tomato burrata salad. Food came out quick and all tasted really fresh. The portion size was quite generous so definitely consider sharing mains. For mains, we had the steak frites, the ribeye, the angry bird flatbread, and a romaine salad with chicken. The steaks were cooked a bit under order, coming out almost blue instead of rare. Everyone still enjoyed them but keep this in mind while ordering steak. The salad was great and the flatbread was ok- tons of toppings which is amazing but the tomatoes made it soggy and hard to pick up a slice. I come here a lot! For dinner, happy hour, brunch, lunch. A lot! The food is consistently great. The service is consistently lacking. There's always a crowd of staffers at the end of the bar socializing while customers wait to place orders or get their food. Always. I sit at the bar mostly and pretty much know all the drama & stories. If you go for happy hour make sure you hunt someone down to place your order before it's too late, because it will happen... you'll miss the HH. Also, don't love seeing a staff member rip off the cork of a wine bottle with her teeth and proceed to pour the wine in a carafe. One another note, they remodeled the right side and it looks fantastic. The light colored bar chairs they had before had stains all over them, so I'm glad they've been replaced with new ones. read more

One of the gems of Ashburn, Parallel is one of the best restaurants in Loudoun County, heck, maybe one of the best in Virginia. I don't eat here as much as I'd like because we always seem to need a reservation, so that takes the spontaneous visit out of consideration, but when we think ahead and make a reservation, we are always so pleased with our visits. The menu is so eclectic that there is something for everyone on it. If your family is like mine, when you ask your spouse and kids what they feel like eating the answers range from "I don't care" to "Whatever" to "Not this, not that...and I just know what I don't want". Well, at Parallel you can go from chicken and waffles, to andouille shrimp and grits, to butter chicken to a great ribeye steak. Everyone will be happy! For me, it's a great place to go because nobody else in my house likes Pakistani or Indian food, so I can get butter chicken while they eat burgers. The food is always delicious and consistent. The drink menu is extensive and the happy hours are very lively. Oh, and the desserts are great, too. My kids love the S'Mores version and I like the bread pudding. I'd like to acknowledge the server from my last two visits- a lady named Maya, who was just terrific both times. She is extremely friendly, positive, professional, and knowledgeable. Tried Parallel for lunch one day. The place straddles the side walk with two different sides for dining and a party area. Despite being pretty public in strip mall, the outdoor area is actually pretty nice. They have a huge menu full of wine and whiskey for almost any taste. They also have a decent selection of what you would expect at a wine bar, with some small plates to share as well as sandwiches and flatbreads. Service was friendly but so slow. They apologized multiple times, but it took forever just to take the order, and then even longer to get the food. I had the "banh-mi" sandwich, which was ok at best. The fries were lacking in seasoning. At least the setting is nice. read more
