Love this spot. First they have valet parking! You can pay and see when your car's ready before leaving the table. A necessity if on a first date. It's more popular during the week but nicely filled whenever you go. I like to walk into the hotel lobby then through their awesome hallway to the front desk. Every table is wonderful but towards the back by the window near sundown is my favorite. Service is impeccable, professional and with great suggestions. I love that they clear the crumbs and baby wipe before desert. They did it unobtrusively. Food is great but I wish they had lighter fare options. I love the Cesar salad but needs much less dressing. Just a light mix would be great. Hush puppies were a great hit. read more

Very mediocre food, great service, good drink options, all in a hotel restaurant environment. We came here after work and were all staying at the Marriott so it was convenient. It's a nice atmosphere, not too stuffy but elegant enough for a nice dinner. The drinks are good, well mixed, and nice options whether you drink wine, beer, cocktails, or non-alcoholic options. The food, however, is very mediocre. They started with an amuse-bouche that was a fruit tart with cheese. Nice, light, and well balanced. We ordered the tuna tartare, along side a Japanese sweet potato dish and a salmon tartare that were both specials. The tartares were fine. Something you would get anywhere. The presentation was nice but their crisp or cracker was kind of useless as it doesn't have the structural strength to use as a vessel to eat the fish. The sweet potato was probably the best in terms of flavor albeit very rich. The main course is well things really fell apart. The beef dishes people ordered were either under cooked or over cooked. I got the grilled prawns which were limp and mushy. The veggies were underseasoned. The braised beef was small. I think everyone was underwhelmed with the main course. It's fine as a after work dinner spot but if you care about food, there are better options nearby. read more

A beautiful and modern restaurant located in the new JW Marriott hotel. Parking is a bit complicated, but we called for best directions. For easiest parking: Park in the Row garage. Level G2East. Take the elevators up to 1, cross the plaza directly across from you (towards the metro) and the hotel entrance (not the residences) is under the awning on your left. Pro tip - restaurant is cashless, so have your card handy. There wasn't a bar tender available until 11, so unfortunately we didn't get any mimosas (which we were planning on for our bubbly brunch!). The scones (at $10) were delicious, particularly the lemon curd. I just wish you got more than 2 for that price. Several of us ordered the eggs Benedict. Eggs were perfectly poached and the bakery style English muffin was perfect. I found the Virginia ham overwhelmingly salty, but the salad was a nice compliment. The waiter was awesome and so nice. Staff wrote my friend a congrats card, as we were celebrating the soon-to-be birth of her baby. read more

My family dined here tonight and it was ok. We first arrived and parked in the VIDA parking garage. They do validate parking. We entered through the hotel and promptly made a right through the tunnel into the Simon. The vibes were immaculate and the service was great--especially with our 1 year old baby. We ordered: - bread basket (good, but small for the price) - the lobster ravioli (tasted unique and flavorful, but I didn't love the earthiness) - the salmon (cooked perfectly) - the filet (super tender and flavorful. Loved the layered potatoes it was served with) - Carolina gold risotto (I loved the balsamic, the seared prawns were cooked perfectly, and I loved the autumnal flavors with the pumpkin) - the tilefish (which replaced the rockfish. Light, flakey, delicate, very flavorful) - the chocolate cake (rich, good) - the strawberry ring (tasted ok, it was a bit hard, maybe too frozen? And I would've liked to taste more strawberry) Overall, we enjoyed our experience here. The service was top notch. Some of the food had some interesting earthy flavors which I don't know that I was a huge fan of. We particularly did not enjoy the amuse bouche which was a tartlet with blueberry compote and moon cheese. And the desserts were honestly just ok. But the entrees were stand out and very enjoyable. I could see myself coming back for the vibes, the service, and the entrees. I hope to return to try the pasta with caviar. read more

Wow! 10000/10 experience. I loved this place and would come back for a celebratory or regular dinner. The staff was so kind and the restaurant is beautiful inside and quiet on a Sunday. I love the big comfy booths. The food here is a total standout! I love the amuse bouche they give you. Each dish was plated craft fully. The crab salad was so cute and really refreshing. The tile fish was delicious and flaky but also a meaty white fish. But I loved the filet mignon! Yes a smaller cut but the meat was soooo tender and the crust on it was amazing. I also loved the mashed potatoes - not overly indulgent and so tasty. They gave us a free dessert for a celebration, the strawberries and crème. It was so unique and plated beautifully. I will be back! read more

Stopped in for lunch at The SIMON inside the brand-new JW Marriott Reston Station and, honestly... WOW. If I could give extra stars, I would. From the second you walk in, the space hits you--warm, stylish, and just begging for you to settle in and stay a while. Our server, David, was the perfect balance of professional and personable--he knew the menu inside and out, and his suggestions were spot on (seriously, he deserves a medal for patience with all my "but what about..." questions). We kicked things off with the charcuterie board. The cheeses and meats were top tier, but the in-house pâté? GAME. CHANGER. I'd come back just for that spread alone. Entrées? My friend went for the rockfish and could not stop gushing about how buttery it was. (He said it no less than five times, and honestly, I believe him.) The mussels that came with it? Tender perfection. I went the classic route with the turkey club, which was anything but ordinary. Perfectly shaved turkey, multigrain bread toasted to crisp-but-not-crumbly perfection, and fries that should come with a warning label because they're dangerously addictive. You've been warned. Dessert was non-negotiable, and thank goodness for that. The strawberry ring was fresh and bright, while the hazelnut chocolate cake was pure, decadent heaven on a plate. We didn't talk for five minutes because we were too busy eating. This was my first visit to The SIMON but my second visit to the property (shout-out to Schar Bar for being amazing, too). Each spot has its own vibe, but both have been nothing short of stellar. Next stop: dinner at Service--because if lunch was this good, I can only imagine what's coming. Bottom line? Get yourself here. Order the fries. Thank me later. read more

The service was impeccable and the food was delicious I did a Sunday brunch to celebrate my moms birthday today and it was nothing short of amazing and exactly what we needed She had a cappuccino, French toast, grits and bacon. We were staying at the JW Marriott and wanted to try out their restaurant after visiting family in town. Dinner: 1) Grilled Cheese w/Tomato Bisque 2) JW MARRIOTT SALAD 3) Tomahawk for 2 ( 2 sides: Mashed potatoes, mushrooms, salad, and large Tomahawk w/ bone on the side) 4) Crème puff For dinner we were served by Bill and for breakfast we were served by Jean. They were both so kind, smart, and generous with their time and service. They made the experience homey, fun, and made sure our decisions were well informed! Breakfast: Brioche French Toast All American Breakfast Sliced Seasonal Fruit plate Hunger Crunch Smoothie We could tell from the dishes that the chef and their team put so much love and care into the dishes. The vibe was cozy, classic, and romantic. We loved it and will definitely be staying and eating again! 10/10 would come again read more

Lovely upscale hotel restaurant, reviewing my first visit. It was quiet on a Sunday night which was a plus. Service was friendly, prompt, and everything you'd expect of fine dining. They were very accommodating of my gluten free diet. They even had gf bread for bread service. Cocktails were great. The crab salad appetizer lacked flavor and was hard to finish because of the sauce the poured over it. There was too much sauce vs crab and I had to fish for remaining bits of crab. My husband loved his salmon main. The plating was beautiful for that course. I really enjoyed the risotto with prawns. The flavors were very creative and inspired. Really different from your typical risotto and in a good way. Sadly the only gf dessert was ice cream. Put a gf dessert on the menu, tighten up the crab salad and you'll easily earn 5 stars from me! read more

We had the pleasure of meeting Bill on June 13th while deciding where to have dinner. After speaking with him, his genuine enthusiasm, welcoming personality, and great sense of humor convinced us to stay and give it a try. He had my husband and me laughing from the start, and it was clear that he truly cares about both the restaurant and the guest experience. We enjoyed dinner that evening and returned for breakfast the following morning. Both meals were exceptional, and the service was attentive, professional, and meticulous. From start to finish, it was truly a five-star experience. Thank you, Bill, for encouraging us to stay for dinner and for making our visit so enjoyable. I've now become a regular here at The Simon (they became my favorite spot for morning scones). Today, I decided to bring two additional humans with me. While service was not bad, I'm leaving dissatisfied with my meal. I specifically wanted to enjoy some coffee and scones. My complete order: coffee, order of scones, American breakfast, sliced fruit platter, and butter croissant. What I craved were the scones. My scones order came out warm, hard, and "extra" baked. There are two in an order, so I consumed 1/4 of my order and informed the waiter. He asked if I wanted a new one, and I said "no, that's ok. I'm going to order an order to go instead". He apologized and we continued with our breakfast. Towards the end I placed my to-go order, only to have another round of burnt scones. My husband alerted the waiter that these two were also burnt, and the response was "I'm sorry, I'll let the baker know". I would have loved to have at least one order of unburned scones, however, I have my $20 dark brown crunchy scones. I'll make it work, but not the experience my heart desired. read more

Here's a polished, standout review you can post as-is or tweak slightly for your tone: Exceptional Experience at The Simon The Simon delivers on every level. The food was absolutely outstanding--beautifully prepared, full of flavor, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. Every dish felt thoughtfully crafted and memorable. The drinks were just as impressive. Creative, perfectly balanced, and expertly made, they elevated the entire experience and paired wonderfully with the meal. What truly tied everything together was the service. Attentive, friendly, and professional without ever feeling intrusive. The staff made us feel genuinely welcomed and well taken care of from start to finish. The restaurant is beautiful. I love the decor and warm, earth tones and curved, modern light fixtures that sweep the room. The host staff at the front of the restaurant were personable, kind and attentive offering to check my coat without being prompted. Unfortunately, I think our waitress - though sweet - needs some help with customer service. We had a large party and weren't checked on very frequently if at all even as she walked past our table several times as she waited on the couple to the right of us. Basic rule when you're a waiter, walk by the table of guests and: "Everything good? Do you need anything.." We had to flag her down several times to put in orders. I'm going to assume multitasking is not her strong point. Finally, the main reason for my score is the food being less than stellar. Seasoning? Never heard of em here. I ordered the steak; looked beautiful but it tasted just like the grill. I don't think they even bothered to put any salt or pepper on the meat. The same could be said for my friends that ordered the risotto. The one with prawns? Shrimp were small and very light skinned. Chicken? Also tasted like the grill. Flavor never entered the building here. If you're looking for a satisfying meal, please go elsewhere. The cocktails on the other hand were great. read more

For being attached to the JW, I was expecting a nice experience, and though the restaurant had a nice atmosphere, I have no desire to return. My spouse and I were the first to arrive in our party of 9 so we waited at the bar. I requested the bartenders choice of a sweet cocktail. The cocktail tasted nice, however, when he placed it in front of me, he sloshed it and it spilt all over the sides of the glass, down the stem and on the bar. I spent the first 2 minutes cleaning his mess and had sticky hands every time I touched the glass. The server who greeted us was soft spoken but all of our meals and drinks were accurate, and our water glasses never ran dry. While waiting on our meal the kitchen sent out two complimentary tastings. One was a beef tartare and oyster blend served between two crackers shaped like a cow. I love salt but wow was this salty! For me, it was not a good bite. The second tasting was a gnocchi garlic lemon crab dish. The flavor was okay but the gnocchi was undercooked. For the main meal, I ordered the steak frites. My first bite was gristle and my following 3 bites were super tough. The dressing on the salad that came with the dish was overpowering for me and exceptionally salty. The fries were good. Having worked in the restaurant industry for several years of my life, I felt no one was taking the time to taste the food they were serving. read more

Executive Chef Tony Digregorio breathes fire into the nova food scene. Literally. Check him out spoiling this birthday girl by setting a cognac caramel ablaze and pouring it atop her dessert. (The Quintessential Chess Pie) Pennsylvania Gold Chicken was absolutely phenomenal. As you eat your way through this dish, you are first comforted. Chicken skin, silky pommes puree. Then you bite into a layer of brioche farce, or taste the king trumpets, you become interested all over again. Every dish is plated like art. Shockingly delicious. Playful, delightful and fun. It has been evident since the opening that Chef Tony keeps this philosophy close to his heart while creating his menu. Also; The stunning Schar Bar greets you as you walk in to The Simon. Warmly lit shelves house 100's of unique and familiar spirits. Shout out to Kristen and Hamza. The food was delicious and the ambience comfortable at The Simon. For a higher-end hotel, the food was reasonably priced. Our server/bartender Skylar was really attentive and informative. She made us two mocktails that weren't on the menu, a Paloma and a Shenandoah Spritz with non-alcoholic gin. The Simon Burger, the hush puppies, the layered potato and the hand cut tagliolini pasta were very delicious. The host explained that some cocktails on the menu at the Schar Bar were favorites of Reston founder Robert Simon. The hallway entrance to the restaurant is a wood-lined hallway with Indigenous American Artifacts on display. After we spotted a minor mistake on our bill, the item was removed, which was very nice. So I have eaten at The Simon three times in a little over a week. I have been in for lunch and the dry aged burger is so juicy and delicious. The fries are crisp and fresh and so good. Now on to the next visit I brought my wife in for dinner. The cocktails were great they were just perfectly balanced. I chose the Riesling as I was talked into ordering the chicken. I was happy with it but I was super jealous of my wife's risotto as it was just perfectly cooked. It might be my favorite risotto I have had in quite some time. The wine paired perfectly with both meals. We had dessert and the chocolate bar is much bigger than I expected, it was delicious but it's easily enough to share. I walked out stuffed to the gill. I was pleasantly surprised by the cost which was about 40% less than a downtown restaurant. The modern decor and bar are so needed in Reston. You will be impressed when you try this place. I love it. Oh and the service was impeccable and timing was on point not rushed but attentive. read more

Was good for the most part. But they brought a complimentary salad out and there was an inchworm crawling in it.

I ordered the tile fish entrée for lunch. It was undercooked and there were three tiny mussels on the plate, celeriac and sauce and oil. Everything was cold except for the fish. There was too much sauce and oil running spread around. No bread to dip up excess so the cold sauce was wasted. It definitely was not worth the money. My Husband had hanger steak and fries, which was also a very small amount for the money. It's was cut thick made it get cold quicker. So the waiter brought me some leftover breakfast potatoes those were not good either. Fortunately, the manager removed the fish from our check. There were only two other tables, but the service was very slow. They were nice, just very slow. read more

If you're in Reston, do yourself a favor and go check out The Simon at Reston Station inside the JW Marriott. Seriously--you don't want to miss this one. Chef Anthony DiGregorio is doing something really special here. From the moment you walk in, the whole place just feels inviting. The open kitchen adds a fun buzz, and the staff couldn't be nicer--they really make you feel taken care of without it ever feeling over the top. And the food... wow. The charcuterie board has this melt-in-your-mouth pâté and amazing cheeses. The prawns are so good you'll catch yourself reaching for "just one more" every time. The tuna tartare is unbelievably fresh--one bite and you're hooked. The burrata with heirloom tomatoes is bright and flavorful, and the duck special? Let's just say you won't want it to end. Then dessert shows up--a cherry blossom cake that's light, beautiful, and just screams spring. Everything comes out on gorgeous Pordamsa plates, and honestly, each dish looks like it belongs in a photo gallery. No matter what you order, you really can't go wrong. Your taste buds will thank you. And bonus--it's just a short Metro ride from DC, so getting there is easy. We went to the Simon for dinner and then brunch the next day (were staying at the hotel). It is truly the best customer service/staff experience Ive had in the area - absolutely amazing. The enviornment is DARLING and so nice. Amazing bar and amazing live music. Loved the veranda spritz and my husband loved the old fashioned. Wine was super over priced (cocktails cheaper) or else we would have had a glass. Prosecco yummy. Loved the cheese cart, and the tomato/grilled cheese appetizer. Reason it didnt get 5 stars is we REALLY did not like our entree: the steak frites. The steak was burnt with no flavor. The salad that came with it was delicious though (good dressing). For brunch, everything was delicious. Loved the chococlate waffles! Anyways when we go back we will eat at the bar. Its too expensive to not love the entree. read more

We had a beautiful celebratory dinner for a birthday here! The hosts and wait staff were very attentive and warm (they gave the birthday person just such a lovely handwritten card with a beautiful note) and welcoming and service was truly excellent. The amuse bouche on the house was tasty, the steak frites were popular, the golden chicken was truly delicious and juicy, salmon and pasta entrees were quite good, and you should definitely try the cauliflower side (crazy delicious with that Parmesan crust). The chickpea fries were also interesting and made much better with the sauce. The star of the show here are their desserts. Do not miss the strawberry and cream ring - a treat to look at and to eat. For those in our party who enjoyed the cocktails, they were great (The Simon's bar called the Scharr bar is known for their bourbons). Finally, the ambience is the real star - warm, inviting and sophisticated with high ceilings, easy to talk and hear your dinner companions (definitely do NOT need to yell over any music like in so may other restaurants of this caliber these days, the managers at The Simon set the ambient noise level SO RIGHT), beautiful wood panels and large windows to see the surrounding city lights - it's a terrifically pleasing vibe. read more
