Barcelona was hands down the best meal we had during our time in Reston. We were lucky enough to sit out on the patio, enjoy some great weather, and have an outstanding dining experience from start to finish. Our server, Maria, absolutely made the night. She was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and struck that perfect balance of checking in without hovering. Great service can elevate a meal, and Maria did exactly that. The food was excellent. The paella was delicious, the patatas bravas were flavorful, and both the pork belly and bacon-wrapped dates were standouts. The sangria was also fantastic and paired perfectly with the meal. Now, I've had Spanish food in places where it's a little more authentic and refined, so this wasn't necessarily the best Spanish food I've ever had. But considering we're in Virginia, Barcelona absolutely exceeded expectations. The service was great, our waitress and fast, kind, and checked in with our group the perfect amount of times. The food was all amazing. They're fairly small portions so you do end up spending quite a bit, but the quality is great! If you want the paella you have to order right when you arrive cause it's 30 mins to 45 mins for them to cook it. Barcelona Reston delivers a strong tapas experience with a few minor misses. The menu has a great variety, and overall the food quality is impressive. The standout for me was the patatas bravas--perfectly crispy potatoes paired with a spectacular garlic aioli. The truffle sheep's cheese was also outstanding, rich and flavorful, although the truffle honey didn't quite deliver on its promise--I could barely taste the truffle. It also only came with one slice of toasted bread, but thankfully the bread service helped stretch the dish (and even then, there was still cheese left over). The spiced beef empanadas were nicely crisp and satisfying. The grilled octopus, however, was just okay--slightly over-charred, which made it hard to fully appreciate the flavor. On the other hand, the paella salvaje was excellent, loaded with chicken, gaucho sausage, pork belly, chickpeas, and pickled onions. Definitely a must-order--but be sure to put it in early since it takes a while to prepare. For dessert, the flan catalan was a great finish--not overly sweet and nicely balanced. The wine list is another highlight, with plenty of good options available by the glass. We ordered the paella first and followed it with four tapas, which ended up being plenty of food for four people. Pricing came out to about $45 per person before tip, which felt reasonable for the quality and quantity. The interior has a warm, stylish vibe with lots of wood and dark tones, though it does feel a bit cramped--tables and booths are quite close together, and it can get pretty loud. Service was friendly and well-paced. It does get busy during peak hours, so reservations are highly recommended (they use Tock). I've been wanting to try Barcelona Wine Bar for a little while and am happy I got the opportunity too! Barcelona Wine Bar serves a variety of authentic Spanish tapas and plates along with a large wine selection. My mom and I were super excited to dine here as we both love a good tapas meal! The restaurant is in a great area but you do have to pay for parking (they should validate your parking though). The interior is lovely and the ambiance is unique with a rustic-chic vibe. The service was good and our server was attentive. She offered us some guidance on the menu and some recommendations as well. The workers did a great job grabbing finished plates off tables and were super friendly. Some of our food took longer to come out, specifically the charcuterie board. Each table starts with fresh, warm bread and Spanish olive oil. Some tables got balsamic vinegar added to their oil, but we didn't. They do offer refills for the bread as well. For tapas styled dinners it is recommended to order a couple of plates at once for the table to share. We started with the Aperitivo Board which included an Jamón Serrano, Chorizo Soria, Idiazábal, Manchego, Eggplant Caponata, House Marinated Olives, Pickled Guindilla Peppers, and Patatas Brava. This was a huge board with a little bit of everything. Ordering this allows you to try some charcuterie and tapas at once for a great price. The meats were lovely and the Manchego cheeses were bold. Both paired well with the olives too. The eggplant caponata had a slight sweetness to it, which I liked. And the patatas bravas were easily some of the best I've had. The crema atop of them was to die for, these are a must order! Like I stated above, our board took a while to come out. This wasn't a huge deal, but it definitely took longer than it should have and I wish our server had checked in on us during that period. Next, we order the beet salad, albondigas, and the jamón & manchego croquetas. These dishes arrived quicker and all came around the same time. The beet salad consisted of pickled beets with a Skordalia garlic spread on the bottom. The sweetness of the beets complimented the Skordalia nicely. The albondigas included 5 Spiced Meatballs in Jamón-Tomato Sauce. With a little bit of a kick to them, these meatballs were fantastic! The sauce was extremely flavorful and I thoroughly enjoyed these. Lastly, the jamón & manchego croquetas which were served with the same garlic aioli that was atop the patatas bravas. These were rich and really creamy with lots of manchego. The breading was light on the outside and the inside was packed with mostly manchego and some jamón. I didn't like these as much as I thought I would, but they are definitely worth a try. Overall, all the food was amazing and we both really enjoyed our meal. The service was decent and I thought they did a good job taking care of us. They are very friendly and will help you navigate the menu if needed. The interior is such a vibe and I really loved the ambiance. While our charcuterie seemed to take a while to come out, all the other food arrived promptly. Everything is served made to order and arrive hot to your table. The Aperitivo Board is definitely the best bang for your buck. In a Spanish tradition, we got a complimentary pumpkin burrata tapas after we ordered sangrias. We ordered a few other tapas while we waited for the paella mariscos (seafood). The salpicón de mariscos tasted so refreshing as it resembled a mix between a seafood salad without the greens and ceviche followed by a garlicky gambas (shrimp) al ajillo. The bartender recommended the eggplant caponata and it did not disappoint as I liked the slightly sweet and savory taste. Finally, the seafood paella came and it was worth the wait with plenty of seafood and a nice crispy soccarat at the bottom; The half size portions was plenty for two people. Booked a reservation today for my dad's birthday and while the food and drink were delicious, our server Allie and the manager Antonio made it really special. I wasn't sure if my parents would be into tapas or the bustling Friday night atmosphere but they absolutely loved it and everything we ordered. So, I went to Barcelona tonight. Not the city, but the restaurant. While there's still La Corrida in Spain even today, this restaurant is no bull. It's a tapas restaurant (careful how you say that...so watch your diction), thus the proper way to eat is to order a bottle of wine, take your time, and graze. So that's exactly what I did. All for you, dear reader. Nothing selfish about the experience at all. I ordered a lovely Chilean wine right away and got to work. First up was the Patatas Bravas. The potatoes were crisp, flavorful, and fluffy inside - just like me. The bed of salsa was a simple but tasty tomato sauce. The dressing was a killer garlic aioli. It was "lick the spoon good." And be careful who you say that to! Next up was the chicken canelones. Wrapped in a delicious crepe, it had foie gras and a hint of cinnamon or nutmeg or something autumnal that I couldn't quite be sure of, but it was delicious. There was more spoon lickin' (and that's not a euphemism). I followed that with the flank steak in chimichurri. It was a little chewy, although it definitely seemed marinated which would tenderize it. The chimichurri was as good as I had in Argentina (RIP Evita). They could have tenderized the steak a bit more though, so maybe they should pound their meat (and that's definitely a euphemism). But I'm a harsh critic. It was a great dish and the flavor was awesome. Side note, they brought bread to the table early on, which I neglected. I ended up having it with the flank steak and that was perfect. No spoon licking here, but I sopped up the last of the chimichurri with the bread and I'm glad I did. I felt bad that the bread was as lonely as I was for most of the evening, although I'm glad it was saving itself. Also, I asked about the bread and it is locally baked in Arlington. Delicious. So, don't let your bread loaf. Eat it up! Other than the potatoes, the hot dishes were a little cool when they came out and the music was too loud...this ain't a night club! There was a lot of over the top "boots and pants" over the loudspeaker. It was unfortunately a bit too much. If I had been on a date, I would have needed to use sign language to communicate with my beautiful lady. Other than that, great ambiance. Perfect lighting, nice decor, very tasteful, natural materials. Speaking of boots and pants, the white collar people watching was highly entertaining. Full of DC intrigue and wannabes. There was some real House of Cards action going on. And I can neither confirm nor deny that they were filming "The Real Housewive of Reston" while I was there. Anthropological considerations aside, make sure you get dessert, too. I had the Olive Cake and it was exquisite. Ever so slightly crisp exterior, moist and flavorful inside, toasty warm, a little sweet but not overly sweet, great texture and mouth feel, absolutely perfect execution. Paired with a Dulce sherry which was great. My only recommendation would be that the olive cake would have been well complemented by a dollop of whipped cream or vanilla ice cream or even a little Crème Fraiche, both for taste and presentation. But, I niggle, as I do. They use obviously very high quality ingredients all the way around in all the dishes. And every dish was extremely well conceived and designed. Great flavors from end to end. My compliments to their Executive Chef. Chef's kiss! It's also worth mentioning that they have a fabulous wine selection with over 400 bottles. Also, my server, Emily was totally awesome. My husband and I decided to grab a late lunch or early dinner around 4 PM on a Monday. The place had a cool, upscale urban vibe. They've got a fantastic patio that overlooks Reston Town Center park, but it was way too chilly to sit outside today. As soon as we walked in, we were welcomed and given the option to choose our seats. We picked a cozy booth. The decor was stunning, but we ended up next to a wall with these cubical designs. While it looked nice, I couldn't help but notice the thick layer of white dust that had built up on it. It definitely wasn't the most appetizing sight while we were trying to enjoy our meal. The waitress was super friendly and really attentive since we were her only table. She followed up with our dishes and kept the table clean and kept our water glasses full. They're famous for their tapas menu, so everything comes in small portions perfect for sampling and sharing. They also have a few full entrees available. Here's what we ordered: Wagyu Beef Carpaccio: 10/10 This was incredible! It just melts in your mouth. The meat was so tender and had a buttery flavor. I loved the salty kick from the capers. Topped with a drizzle of oil and cheese, it was a fantastic start. Spiced Empanadas: 7.5/10 These were good, but nothing too special. They were tasty, just not very spicy--more like a hint of heat. I'm not a fan of spicy food, so I wouldn't even call them spicy. It was ground beef with tomato sauce wrapped in a crispy flour shell. Pretty straightforward. The dough was light and not thick which I prefer. Flank Steak with potato crisps: 8/10 The presentation could use a little work, but the steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare--juicy and packed with flavor. Grilled lamb loin: 11/10 This dish comes with potato puree drizzled with truffle oil and topped with crispy potato strings. Sounds tempting, right? It's absolutely incredible! I couldn't get enough of it. I seriously wished I could have a whole plate to myself. Total winner! Highly recommend it. Salicin de mariscos: 2/10 This cold dish featured octopus, shrimp, and scallops, and I was really let down. Octopus is my absolute favorite, and this was just bland--neither cold nor hot, and lacking any flavor. Grilled Pulpo: 10/10 They totally made up for it with this dish! The octopus was tender and bursting with flavor, served on a bed of almond pepper sauce. It reminded me why I love octopus so much. It was a flavor explosion that I couldn't get enough of! Dozen raw oysters: 9/10 These were part of their happy hour special (4-6pm), with 2 oysters for $5. The presentation was the best I've ever seen! The oysters were beautifully arranged on a bed of sea salt, with plenty of lime around the tray and a tangy dipping sauce. It was such a clever way to serve them--when you slurp the oysters, your lips get a taste of the salt underneath. So smart! They were as delicious as they were pretty. The only reason it's a 9 instead of a 10 is that they were served at room temperature, which isn't ideal for raw oysters. This spot has a really romantic vibe, making it perfect for dates, business dinners, and a more grown-up atmosphere. When we come here to eat, we usually leave the kids at home since I doubt they'd enjoy the menu options. read more

We had a large party and were rather crammed in at what should have probably been comfortably 4 tops but we had like 14 people. This was my first visit to Barcelona. We were walking around Reston Town Center after lunch and decided to stop by. My friend said their Sangria was really good, so we just gravitated towards the bar. They had a couple options for Sangria (by the glass or pitcher), we chose a pitcher of white Sangria ($34), but I asked for less ice. The bartender was extremely friendly, I wish I got her name to give her some kudos. I did ask permission to take her picture as she made our drink and she said, sure! So if you happen to see her, say hi! The bar area was a little dark, but it really set a relaxing mood, which I was loving! They have such an extensive menu with so many items (food and beverages) to choose from. They are known for the tapas, but also have a few large plates and a variety of items for the charcuterie & cheese section. Would I return? Yes, definitely! read more

Wine is great here as well as the food. It's fun to get small plates to share among your group. Sometimes it's a bit too loud inside but I do love dining here! I'm also pretty sure they still offer happy hour deals also! The food is high quality. read more

It was a beautiful day in Reston and I just finished getting my nails done so I said why not grab lunch outdoors somewhere and since I'd never tried Barcelona it sounded like a great idea. I was promptly greeted and seated and my server was super friendly and knowledgeable. She made a few recommendations based upon crowd and personal favorites and gave me time to review the menu while she grabbed my cocktail and complimentary bread and oil (which was DELISH). I went with a variety of tapas as recommended (and could only eat about 25% so I packed up the rest to go) but unfortunately was not wowed by any whatsoever... the ensalada mixta was probably the best but when you think about it how hard is it to make a decent salad. The truffled bikini was overly truffled and the seafood tapas I had with the mussels, shrimp and octopus was "fishy" which as we all know shouldn't be the case w fresh seafood. I was determined to find something that wowed me and when I saw olive oil cake on the dessert menu I had a hunch that would do it (& hoped I was right bc I LOVE olive oil cake) and was relieved when it DID! It was warm and topped with a little sea salt and was just perfect, WHEW! Would I come back .... possibly ... for wine, cocktails, bread and cake .... ON THE PATIO! read more
