We made a reservation on Sunday for a party of 5 at 6pm which was quite easy to do online, and there was a lot of availability. We haven't had such luck in the past, so I do recommend making a reservation in advance. First thing's first, order paella as soon as you get seated, it took us about 40 minutes to get ours. Order it extra crispy if you want the rice nice and caramelized - some people think it's "burnt" that way, so make it clear what you expect! Our server was great - after he sat us down, he immediately asked if we wanted bread and olive oil, which is delicious especially when warm! Here's what we got: - Truffle sheep cheese - This was nice, but we preferred the default bread more as it was softer - Flank steak (chimicurri) - Just a nice steak - Patatas Bravas - Always good - Jamon and Manchego Croquetas - These were okay, ham flavor didn't come through - Paella Salvaje - Love this dish, didn't come out as crispy as I remembered it, so we'll have to order extra crispy next time - Olive oil cake - Our server's recommendation, was quite tasty! I will say that I loved the bronzino, but everything else was a missing. The salad had way to much dressing and was overly sour and the potatoes lacked seasoning. This was surprising because the bronzino has seasoned from the head to the tail. The drink were ok . The tapaz were over priced especially like charcuterie build a board. Got the opportunity to try Barcelona's cocktails a bit more in-depth post dinner with a friend! The Espresso Martini and Gin drinks were lovely - not too strong, but very flavorful and allowed us to taste the liquor evenly alongside various spices. The espresso was creamy and had great notes of cinnamon in each sip. I loved the Lemon Drop Martini! Super smooth, not too sour, and appreciated the sugar rim. All drinks came out to around $12 each - not bad at all. Finally, the Chocolate Cake was a delicious ganache in a solid, lava-cake like chocolate base. As a lover of rich chocolate desserts, this one was an instant favorite of mine :) The service was incredibly speedy despite it being such a busy night! My sister Made a reservation for my Dads 60th birthday for 7:15 and by 7:50 were still not seated and had to leave. Unfortunately, this has happened once before where my partners parents came into town and were not seated until 30 minutes after our designated reservation time. I have been to Barcelona in Reston dozens of times before and I absolutely love their food and ambience but unfortunately the restaurant is unreliable and we will not be making reservations in the future. Despite being nearly 40 minutes after our reservation time, staff was unhelpful and seemed disinterested in assisting in any way with no estimated time for seating. I would at least expect for a special occasion to be offered a drink or even bread but there was seemingly no effort to correct the seating issues. They've got a fantastic patio that overlooks Reston Town Center park, but it was way too chilly to sit outside today. As soon as we walked in, we were welcomed and given the option to choose our seats. We picked a cozy booth. The decor was stunning, but we ended up next to a wall with these cubical designs. While it looked nice, I couldn't help but notice the thick layer of white dust that had built up on it. It definitely wasn't the most appetizing sight while we were trying to enjoy our meal. The waitress was super friendly and really attentive since we were her only table. She followed up with our dishes and kept the table clean and kept our water glasses full. They're famous for their tapas menu, so everything comes in small portions perfect for sampling and sharing. They also have a few full entrees available. Here's what we ordered: Wagyu Beef Carpaccio: 10/10 This was incredible! It just melts in your mouth. The meat was so tender and had a buttery flavor. I loved the salty kick from the capers. Topped with a drizzle of oil and cheese, it was a fantastic start. Spiced Empanadas: 7.5/10 These were good, but nothing too special. They were tasty, just not very spicy--more like a hint of heat. I'm not a fan of spicy food, so I wouldn't even call them spicy. It was ground beef with tomato sauce wrapped in a crispy flour shell. Pretty straightforward. The dough was light and not thick which I prefer. Flank Steak with potato crisps: 8/10 The presentation could use a little work, but the steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare--juicy and packed with flavor. Grilled lamb loin: 11/10 This dish comes with potato puree drizzled with truffle oil and topped with crispy potato strings. Sounds tempting, right? It's absolutely incredible! I couldn't get enough of it. I seriously wished I could have a whole plate to myself. Total winner! Highly recommend it. Salicin de mariscos: 2/10 This cold dish featured octopus, shrimp, and scallops, and I was really let down. Octopus is my absolute favorite, and this was just bland--neither cold nor hot, and lacking any flavor. Grilled Pulpo: 10/10 They totally made up for it with this dish! The octopus was tender and bursting with flavor, served on a bed of almond pepper sauce. It reminded me why I love octopus so much. It was a flavor explosion that I couldn't get enough of! Dozen raw oysters: 9/10 These were part of their happy hour special (4-6pm), with 2 oysters for $5. The presentation was the best I've ever seen! The oysters were beautifully arranged on a bed of sea salt, with plenty of lime around the tray and a tangy dipping sauce. It was such a clever way to serve them--when you slurp the oysters, your lips get a taste of the salt underneath. So smart! They were as delicious as they were pretty. The only reason it's a 9 instead of a 10 is that they were served at room temperature, which isn't ideal for raw oysters. This spot has a really romantic vibe, making it perfect for dates, business dinners, and a more grown-up atmosphere. Their tapas selection is fantastic especially if you have folks with dietary restrictions e.g., vegetarian or vegan and they regularly change up their menu. Don't forget about their larger dishes as I always get a slightly larger paella and take it home - which is incredibly rare for me. The hosts and staff are beyond kind and knowledgeable when it comes to the variety of wines that they have and their service is consistently good. When the weather is good their outdoor seating makes for a good time. Be weary of Thursday nights as it can get incredibly busy especially if you haven't made a reservation so I always recommend folks to check their website beforehand. At the end of the day Barcelona is a great place if you want to hang out with friends, take a business lunch or dinner, or just enjoy some drinks. The decor and overall experience is the best that Reston Town Center can offer with Tatte or Sixty Vines coming in a close second and third respectively. read more

I also enjoyed the texture and taste of the Spanish tortilla. The patatas bravas are my favorite food. I think the potatoes were cut a little too big but the aioli sauce was divine. For dessert, I tried the olive oil cake which was fluffy and not overbearingly sweet. I came here for a family dinner. We made a reservation in advance and they were still setting up our table once we checked in. It was busy on a Saturday evening, but service was great and went off without a hitch! Our waitress, Emily, did a phenomenal job. She made us feel welcome, was knowledgeable about the menu, and checked on us regularly (which allowed us to order more dishes). Later on, we realized that one of our orders was missing and Emily was quick to remedy it once we notified her. The dishes were plentiful and there was a steady flow from the kitchen. Each staff member always announced what the dish was before setting it down. We started with a charcuterie board of the jamon Serrano and tetilla (semi-soft cow's milk cheese) served with lots of toasty bread. We also got the whipped sheep's cheese which comes with pimenton and truffle honey - this was one of the favorites of the night - we scooped that airy cheese up until the very last bite. Another favorite was the scallop crudo. We were on the fence about ordering it because we feared the serving size would be too small, but Emily informed us that it came with six pieces, was a new menu item, and was really good! We're glad we ordered it, because the dish was cool and refreshing, and I love scallops. We also enjoyed the beef carpaccio, which also comes with six pieces. These were gobbled up! Most of the dishes we had were solid: the gambas al ajillo (garlic shrimp) and mussels were tasty, both with a slight kick to it. Both sauces were great for sopping up with the bread. You can't go wrong with the jamon and manchego croquetas. The croquettes were golden brown and crispy on the outside, and creamy and delicious on the inside. I've been to a number of tapas restaurants before, and Barcelona definitely has bigger servings than I was expecting. We placed two orders of the crispy calamari and patatas bravas for our party of seven, but one order of each would've been enough since we ordered a bunch of other dishes. The calamari serving was on par with a typical appetizer. The batter was light and crisp, and it came with a tasty harissa aioli. The patatas bravas were cut kind of big, so they ate clunky, but this made them filling for sure. If you know you're going to order the paella, order this first because it does take a while to prepare. This was one of the first things we ordered and we received it last (which is to be expected; I would allow a *minimum* of 45 minutes for the paella). This is one of the better paellas I had; I loved the crispy rice on the bottom of the pan and there was a variety of seafood in ours. Of all the plates that we ordered, the flank steak was a big miss. The steak was overcooked, too chewy, and way too salty. A lot of the dishes were heavy on the salt, but I guess that's to be expected when the goal is to imbibe. I also didn't care for the champinones (mushrooms), which I found to be least exciting in terms of flavor, but my sister loved them. We also ordered the asparagus, which had giant stalks, but were surprisingly tender. We finished the meal with a round of sorbets. They had lemon and mango flavors. My second time coming here. I went during lunch/brunch on a Sunday. Atmosphere was loud but not too loud, they sat me at a booth in the bar, I guees because I was by myself. I got several dishes. I got one that I don't remember what it was called but was part of the brunch with a sunny side up egg on top. It was delicious. You can see my picture. The music and ambiance are always very pleasant. I've been coming here for a couple of years now--for business meetings, dates, and even when I want to be alone and enjoy myself. However, I've noticed that every single time I come here, even if the host or server clearly speaks Spanish, they won't respond in Spanish when greeted in Spanish. I find this ironic, considering this is a Spanish/Catalan restaurant.
