PHENOMENALLLLL!!! Sebastian was an amazing server. Attentive. Patient (with all the orders). Fast. He was even right on the money with regards to a rosè he thought we would like! The atmosphere was great. The drinks and food were delicious! Great spot for everyone to order what they want and to share it amongst the group!

Patio!

Barcelona was hands down the best meal we had during our time in Reston. We were lucky enough to sit out on the patio, enjoy some great weather, and have an outstanding dining experience from start to finish. Our server, Maria, absolutely made the night. She was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and struck that perfect balance of checking in without hovering. Great service can elevate a meal, and Maria did exactly that. The food was excellent. The paella was delicious, the patatas bravas were flavorful, and both the pork belly and bacon-wrapped dates were standouts. The sangria was also fantastic and paired perfectly with the meal. Now, I've had Spanish food in places where it's a little more authentic and refined, so this wasn't necessarily the best Spanish food I've ever had. But considering we're in Virginia, Barcelona absolutely exceeded expectations. The quality of the food, the atmosphere, the patio setting, and especially the exceptional service combined to create a five-star experience. If you're in Reston and looking for a memorable dinner, Barcelona should be at the top of your list. Ask for Maria if you can she is fantastic.

Happy Hour trio - Patatas Bravas, meatballs, and Chicken Jamón Croquettes

It's been a while since I came here, but I LOVE Barcelona! The happy hour deals are pretty good. I wish they had more wine options on the happy hour menu specifically red wine. The service was great, our waitress and fast, kind, and checked in with our group the perfect amount of times. The food was all amazing. They're fairly small portions so you do end up spending quite a bit, but the quality is great! If you want the paella you have to order right when you arrive cause it's 30 mins to 45 mins for them to cook it. Paella Salvaje* 5/5 Grilled octopus 5/5 Spiced Beef Empanadas 3.5/5 (tasted like pasta on the inside no spice lol) hanger steak 5/5 Happy hour trio deal Patatas Bravas 3/5 meatballs 4/5 Chicken Jamón Croquettes 4.5/5 Wines were alright. We ordered the sherry dessert wine which was not a fan fave. The sparkling white wine on the HH was refreshing and pretty good, very dry. Overall, always a good experience. It wasn't too crazy on a Thursday night. The inside ambiance is nicer at night time than day time. I'll have to go back for HH again and order some apps and paella.

Barcelona Reston delivers a strong tapas experience with a few minor misses. The menu has a great variety, and overall the food quality is impressive. The standout for me was the patatas bravas--perfectly crispy potatoes paired with a spectacular garlic aioli. The truffle sheep's cheese was also outstanding, rich and flavorful, although the truffle honey didn't quite deliver on its promise--I could barely taste the truffle. It also only came with one slice of toasted bread, but thankfully the bread service helped stretch the dish (and even then, there was still cheese left over). The spiced beef empanadas were nicely crisp and satisfying. The grilled octopus, however, was just okay--slightly over-charred, which made it hard to fully appreciate the flavor. On the other hand, the paella salvaje was excellent, loaded with chicken, gaucho sausage, pork belly, chickpeas, and pickled onions. Definitely a must-order--but be sure to put it in early since it takes a while to prepare. For dessert, the flan catalan was a great finish--not overly sweet and nicely balanced. The wine list is another highlight, with plenty of good options available by the glass. We ordered the paella first and followed it with four tapas, which ended up being plenty of food for four people. Pricing came out to about $45 per person before tip, which felt reasonable for the quality and quantity. The interior has a warm, stylish vibe with lots of wood and dark tones, though it does feel a bit cramped--tables and booths are quite close together, and it can get pretty loud. Service was friendly and well-paced. It does get busy during peak hours, so reservations are highly recommended (they use Tock). Overall, a great spot for tapas with a lively atmosphere--just be prepared for some noise and tight seating.

I've been wanting to try Barcelona Wine Bar for a little while and am happy I got the opportunity too! Barcelona Wine Bar serves a variety of authentic Spanish tapas and plates along with a large wine selection. My mom and I were super excited to dine here as we both love a good tapas meal! The restaurant is in a great area but you do have to pay for parking (they should validate your parking though). The interior is lovely and the ambiance is unique with a rustic-chic vibe. The service was good and our server was attentive. She offered us some guidance on the menu and some recommendations as well. The workers did a great job grabbing finished plates off tables and were super friendly. Some of our food took longer to come out, specifically the charcuterie board. Each table starts with fresh, warm bread and Spanish olive oil. Some tables got balsamic vinegar added to their oil, but we didn't. They do offer refills for the bread as well. For tapas styled dinners it is recommended to order a couple of plates at once for the table to share. We started with the Aperitivo Board which included an Jamón Serrano, Chorizo Soria, Idiazábal, Manchego, Eggplant Caponata, House Marinated Olives, Pickled Guindilla Peppers, and Patatas Brava. This was a huge board with a little bit of everything. Ordering this allows you to try some charcuterie and tapas at once for a great price. The meats were lovely and the Manchego cheeses were bold. Both paired well with the olives too. The eggplant caponata had a slight sweetness to it, which I liked. And the patatas bravas were easily some of the best I've had. The crema atop of them was to die for, these are a must order! Like I stated above, our board took a while to come out. This wasn't a huge deal, but it definitely took longer than it should have and I wish our server had checked in on us during that period. Next, we order the beet salad, albondigas, and the jamón & manchego croquetas. These dishes arrived quicker and all came around the same time. The beet salad consisted of pickled beets with a Skordalia garlic spread on the bottom. The sweetness of the beets complimented the Skordalia nicely. The albondigas included 5 Spiced Meatballs in Jamón-Tomato Sauce. With a little bit of a kick to them, these meatballs were fantastic! The sauce was extremely flavorful and I thoroughly enjoyed these. Lastly, the jamón & manchego croquetas which were served with the same garlic aioli that was atop the patatas bravas. These were rich and really creamy with lots of manchego. The breading was light on the outside and the inside was packed with mostly manchego and some jamón. I didn't like these as much as I thought I would, but they are definitely worth a try. Overall, all the food was amazing and we both really enjoyed our meal. The service was decent and I thought they did a good job taking care of us. They are very friendly and will help you navigate the menu if needed. The interior is such a vibe and I really loved the ambiance. While our charcuterie seemed to take a while to come out, all the other food arrived promptly. Everything is served made to order and arrive hot to your table. The Aperitivo Board is definitely the best bang for your buck. I would 100% order this if you want a little charcuterie and some of the tapas. Could easily be a meal for two people. I would return to try more tapas in the future and recommend if you are in the area! Aperitivo Board - 10/10 Beet Salad - 7/10 Albondigas - 8/10 Jamón & Manchego Croquetas - 7/10

I've been a couple of times but I actually really like this place ! It's a cute place with good happy hour and solid tapas. My girlfriends and I came on a Friday and happy hour starts at 4. We ordered the mini espresso martinis which were so delicious and also the cosmo. We have some of the happy hour snacks, which we ordered as well as our personal favorite the seafood paella from the normal menu. It is a really great place for tapas and the workers there are attentive and kind.

Gambas tasted so good it didn't make it in the picture lol Spicy Eggplant Caponata, salpicón de mariscos, pumpkin burrata
Rayne W.

We came to Barcelona Reston to get a break from eating Thanksgiving leftovers so we stuck to the seafood items. In a Spanish tradition, we got a complimentary pumpkin burrata tapas after we ordered sangrias. We ordered a few other tapas while we waited for the paella mariscos (seafood). The salpicón de mariscos tasted so refreshing as it resembled a mix between a seafood salad without the greens and ceviche followed by a garlicky gambas (shrimp) al ajillo. The bartender recommended the eggplant caponata and it did not disappoint as I liked the slightly sweet and savory taste. Finally, the seafood paella came and it was worth the wait with plenty of seafood and a nice crispy soccarat at the bottom; The half size portions was plenty for two people. We enjoyed eating at the wraparound bar and getting a taste of Spain in Reston. Will have to come back with more people so we can share more tapas next time.

Was celebrating a special occasion and wanted to get some good wine and food. Lots of people rave about this place so excited to finally try. I was honestly a bit disappointed. We got their sangrias which were decent but we ordered a lot of the food to try. There were some dishes that we liked like the Paella, Flank Steak and Patatas Bratvas, but almost everything was too salty. Almost everything was heavily salted and in some instances, almost too salty to eat. The service, while very friendly, was extremely slow. Even before the restaurant started to pick up, we sat for about 15 minutes before someone came by to let us know our server would be there shortly. Not sure why this place gets so much praise but personally was not a fan. Entrees: Paella Mariscos, Flank Steak, Croquettes, and Mussels Sides: Patatas Bratvas, Eggplant Caponata and Broccolini Drinks: White Wine and Red Wine Sangria

Stacy H.

This place is definitely hopping on Saturdays. The portions are shareable but some are smaller or larger than others. The service for our group was ok. I like the layout of the restaurant. Both outside and inside seating. A nice bar area that can get a bit crowded. They did a good job turning over tables.

Such a great experience! Having been to Barcelona Spain multiple times this past year, I felt it held up to the high standard. Enjoyed shrimp w garlic, mushrooms w mint, Patatas bravas, cheese tray, and paella. The paella had that crispy edge that is required. Particularly enjoyed the marinated Mahon cheese, which had lemon rinds. Good sangria, good priarat. Overall we felt like we were back in Spain.

The service was superb, and the food was amazing. I've visited this location on multiple occasions throughout the years, but this last experience was one of the best!

I love their paella here and the wine always hits. The bone marrow was delicious very umami. It does get pretty loud and crowded here (we were party of 7 seated at booth) so it felt a little cramped. Good place to share food but will be hard to hear across the table during peak dinner times.

Barcelona Wine Bar Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Barcelona Wine Bar

How late do they serve dinner until?

Last call for food is usually an hour before closing time. The paellas take upwards of 45 minutes, so they usually stop taking orders for them an hour and half before closing.

What kind of dress code to expect here: casual, smart casual, fine dining?

Casual or smart casual. You don't need to be dressed up to go to this restaurant.

What are brunch hours?

Brunch is served Saturday & Sunday 11:00 am till 3;00 pm

Do they have a kids' menu for the little ones?

There are a few "off menu" items for kids: chicken tenders with fries, pasta with meatballs, or plain buttered pasta noodles. They have shredded Manchego for the pastas too if you ask for it.

Is there a Happy Hour ? I don't see HH menu on their website

There use to be one. But I have not seen one since 2020.

Does the staff wear masks?

I went about a month ago and they did

I see they have dairy-free options, but do they also have gluten-free options?

Yes, there are a variety of options since they have a variety of Tapas available

Do they still have happy hour 4-6 M-Fri? And what are the deals?

Yes, they do! They also have 50% off bottle of wine on Monday nights as well starting at 4PM!

Our waitress Gabby did a great job and she was super helpful. My wife is allergic to rice so Gabby made sure to check with the chef about cross contamination and what was good for her on the menu and what not. Super appreciative of that. My wife tried two different sans spirits drinks. The espresso tonic. I tried it also. Big no! It has tonic espresso and grapefruit juice. Those did not vibe. We sent it back. She then tried the Purple Rain and loved it. All in all, it's a good spot and I'm glad we tried it. I think next time we will go exclusively with the large plates. The small plate route was kind of expensive for what we got and we didn't get a lot of food. We both actually left hungry. We are not drinkers but we accompanied two of our friends who are and they enjoyed the wine selection.

Think a fusion of Chinese Dan Dan noodles + Japanese ramen. It was delicious. Tonkatsu - not to be confused with Tonkotsu (with an O) ramen bowls... this was the actual fried cutlet, which was on the small side. Wait staff didn't know what cigars were in stock and which they were out of. Overall, very good experience for both inside the dining area and outside where you can smoke. Recommend The Bungalow Lakehouse as it is a good experience and has a variety of experience options.
