Ambiance: Christmas themed decor with a Tiki twist Food: drinks were great and food was good. Service: it was very busy in a Thursday evening. There were 4 bartenders and a bar back. They were slammed. And I think they did a great job with the demands of the patrons. Let me explain the 1 star rating. My friend raised her glass to take a sip of her cocktail. The entire bottom broke from the top and spilled the contents over 4 people. Half my pants leg was covered. Another had her purse drenched. Another her shoes were soaked. The one with the drink - her entire pants was soaked. My friends husband talked to the bar manager and he said he would comp us (4) a drink. So we told the bartender what our friends husband said. The bar manager came over and said he is only going to comp my friends drink that exploded. We all looked at him like "WTF just happened?" His bar back cleaned up the mess around us and saw all the liquid on the ground and stools. I don't even think they check to see if we were ok. The 3 of us paid our tabs and left. I haven't been to Tiki Thai much this year but when I had, I never had an issue. The service from the bar manager was appalling to say the least. What a cool place! The decor was well done and intentional. The food was delicious here. We had the chef's special pad Thai and it was so good. At first it didn't look different than regular pad Thai but the flavors were so much bolder. We also had a tofu dish that was amazing as well. I've been curious about this place since seeing all their Instagram pics. The place did not disappoint. Food, service and most of all ambiance hit the 5 star mark. Same owner as Sense of Thai(multiple locations(, they carried their themed decor to this cute place. The menus, the outdoor patio, bar area and dining room all had personality. Service was great: water glasses and drinks always attended by someone. Multiple people delivering food, explaining items and asking if we needed anything. My friends and I decided to order full entrees since we also wanted to try the Pupu Platter consisting of beef, chicken, pork, salad, pork rinds and sweet rice. It was plenty of food for 3 people. Our entrees included 2 types of curry and the Pad Zee U. All were tasty with plenty of protein in each dish. We all packed plenty of to-go for later. Parking in the lot is free for 3 hours but if you go over the 3 even by 10 minutes then it's $12(that happened to me). They have lunch specials $18 that included a choice of appetizer and a good selection for entrees. We didn't go that route but for my next visit, I may chose that option. read more

I took my parents with me on a lunch date, my Dad rarely eats out, maybe 2-3x a year because he likes cooking his own food at home. Needless to say, he enjoyed himself and the Lychee Duck Curry. So much so, he even looked up how to make it, it was extremely flavorful and the duck was tender. We were greeted by Fern the hostess who sat us right under some pretty cool artwork. We were waited on by Kiki, Amm and Gina, because shifts were rotating out, they are all so nice and helpful, we got recommendations from each one of them. The restaurant is beautiful and spacious, there's a cherry blossom theme currently with a really cool pink decorated phone booth in the front before you walk in and themed menu. It's a steal of a deal! Tiki Thai was really fun!! The atmosphere was super cute. Lots of fun tiki decor and it was novel. Tiki Thai Reston is one of my favorite place to go to for a late night cocktail. They open til late and you can ask for a drink based on your preference (e.g. sweetness of the drink). Quick post workout dinner. There is a parking garage and a parking lot that offers free limited parking. The inside of the restaurant is spacious and has a very relaxed vibe to it. We were there a bit late and they turn up the music after a certain time. So, it can get noisy. Not a problem for me because the music was good! Service was fast and the food was tasty but the prices did give me a bit of sticker shock. I thoroughly enjoyed their version of a Vietnamese summer roll called a "healthy rolls". Solid spot for Thai in Reston! The restaurant is very nice and the small but comfortable patio is a great addition. Love that they have tiki mugs for drinks and you can purchase your favorite!! How fun! We got the banana lychee salad as an app and phew it was spicy. Not overwhelmingly but good amount of heat. Wish there were more lychees in there but not a deal breaker. The food was absolutely great fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The ambiance felt very special with a unique vibe that made the place stand out. Dessert was a highlight. The citrus and chocolate combination tasted amazing perfectly balanced between refreshing and rich. I truly loved it. However, there were a few things that made the experience less enjoyable. The table for two was extremely small. Once we ordered multiple dishes, there was barely any space to place everything, which made it uncomfortable to eat and fully enjoy the meal. Came here after work one evening and it was a great experience! Staff was super friendly, pointing out it was still happy hour and specials were available. Interior was very inviting and tropical appearing. Food was great, requested spicy and it had a good amount of heat. Visited with a group for dinner and overall had a good experience! We sat on the outdoor patio while a live band was playing. The vibe is fun and casual. My group tried the calamari and healthy rolls (spring rolls in rice paper) appetizers. The healthy rolls with peanut sauce were refreshing. Tiki Thai is a fun casual place in Reston with a great lunch special deal of an appetizer and entrée for $16.  The healthy rolls were very tasty and the accompanying sauce had a nice bit of spice.  The drunken noodles were a good-sized portion for lunch that also had a little kick.  For dessert we had the pina colada cake which was a little sweet and the coconut bananas which were another good-sized portion but a little dry.  Maybe it was the coating which was a little thick but did have a lot of coconut.  If you ate it with the melted chocolate chip ice cream it was better.  I still missed the warm, gooier banana that I have had at other restaurants.  The service was very helpful and friendly and the décor is bright and colorful.  The center offers 3 hours of free parking both outside and in the nearby garage. read more

I'm going to give Tiki Thai 4 STARS because it doesn't feel right to give it an average joe 3 stars. I would say though that most of the 4 star wow-factor is more about the decor, vibe, ambiance including the live music / entertainment (a pleasant surprise) than the food and totally unjustified (imho) high prices (read on for more about that). The food is authentic and decent BUT IT'S EXPENSIVE. And you'll pay a pretty penny for a meal here. There are plenty of other Thai places with food as good or better than here - namely My Home Thai Bistro (off Sunrise Valley close by), Nan Thai (at Worldgate in Herndon) and La Ong (in the Fox Mill Shopping Center in Herndon, also close by) - these places can't match the super vibey ambiance of Tiki Thai BUT the food at these places rivals TT's, portion sizes are generous AND you'll surely leave with more $$ in your wallet than you would eating here. I do like that TT takes reservations - so why wouldn't you? Party of 4 adults for dinner. We ordered drinks, shared a spring roll app (4 rolls per order), we each ordered our own entree (all came with rice) and then a 5th entree, Pat Pad Thai with flank steak, to share. I posted the bill for our dinner - $144 before tip (we tipped 20% or $28) so FOR A PARTY OF 4, OUR TOTAL BILL INCLUDING TIP WAS $172. YIKESSSSS. RIDICULOUSLY PRICEY and I'm here to forewarn you - your meal won't be cheap! DRINKS: glass of wine for $10 was reasonable, Strawberry Lemonade for $6.50 was a rip off - the glass was filled with crushed ice - 4 big sips and it was all gone. FOOD: $11 for 4 spring rolls was overpriced though the rolls came out piping hot and were crispy and delish. Pad Thai noodles with flank steak ($23) was beautifully presented (see my pic) BUT BARELY SHAREABLE and wayyyy overpriced for the portion size (even for just one person). Taste was fine, on par with other pad thai dishes we've had elsewhere except the steak chunks were too big and a bit tough, not tender. We "fell for" paying the extra $1 to "upgrade" to the Pat Pad Thai, apparently the owner's special recipe - ummmm...trust me save your one dollar, not worth it and you'll need every penny to pay for the costly meal you'll have here. We did like the Green Curry Chicken $20 - big portion size (definitely shareable), full of flavor with a thick but not too thick sauce. Chicken was tender and cooked well. And we REALLY liked the dark stone bowl (see my pic) it was served in which kept the heat in - the curry came out piping hot and more importantly stayed hot. Well done Tiki Thai. Recommend. Ditto - KUDOS - for the Panang Curry Tofu which was also delicious, a shareable portion size, arrived to the table piping hot and also served in a dark stone bowl that allowed the dish to stay hot - $19. Recommend. The Quack Quack (Duck, get it? lol) Basil left a LOT to be desired though. We were hoping for more of a crispy duck dish that we've had elsewhere and that Thai places are known for but this dish was more of a sautéed duck dish which was disappointing. Also, the duck meat was tough and tasted gamey. And the portion size was small for the $24 premium price. See my pic. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THE DUCK. NOT WORTH THE PRICE. Service was very good, friendly and efficient (though we went when the place was not busy - a miserable, snowy Tues night in Jan). And as I said, the interior setting is pretty darn impressive - beautifully appointed, dim moody lighting (in the evening) casting a warm glow - an almost upscale ambiance with an inviting, intimate, cozy vibe without being snooty or high brow. And like I said, the live entertainment was a nice surprise (see my vid) - not too loud and obnoxious - call to find out their entertainment schedule. Ambiance and entertainment - THIS is what you'll be paying the WAY HIGH prices for. (I took pics of all the menu pages so be sure to check those out for yourself - you be the judge.) Bottom line - if you're okay with paying elevated prices because you enjoy dining in a more upscale setting, then Tiki Thai is your place. But if dining upscale isn't a must, skip TT and look elsewhere to save bucks and still enjoy delicious authentic Thai cuisine that can be had for more reasonable prices in places with nice ambiances. Been coming to Tiki Thai since they opened several years ago. Food has always been delicious and unique, with plenty of traditional Thai dishes like Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles with fusion foods and creative twists. Our favorites are the Pat Pad Thai (be careful, it's spicy!) and the tofu wings. We usually come for dinner, but the few times we have been for brunch have also been tasty. Every year, Tiki Thai hosts the Sippin Santa Pop-Up, which we also attend. I have a few allergies, and the crew has always been attentive and ask the chef or bar the appropriate questions on my behalf. The interior space is cute, and holiday decorations are always on point. 4 out of 5 because several times a server has forgotten part of our order, and I think they need 2X the staff so that servers are not overworked. The bar can also take a while, and sometimes we don't receive drinks until later in the meal. Finally, the spice levels can be a bit all over the place - a few visits ago, the spice levels were more moderate, so we ordered 'regular' spice without any hesitance, but the spice levels have returned to an extreme level, so that everyone in our party, both those who love spice and don't all thought the meal was too spicy. I think more transparent spice levels across the board would help. read more

A friend of mine mentioned how this place had fun drinks and how their drinks come in fun cups too, so I had to check it out. She did not disappoint because the aesthetic of this place was definitely appealing. The ceiling was decorated with various beach floaties and florals. Given that I was driving, I decided not to drink and my drink was still very tasty. Usually mocktails are quite syrupy and are presented very boringly, however, Tiki Thai did quite the opposite. You wouldn't even guess that my drink had no alcohol in it. My boyfriend got the TNA and he thoroughly enjoyed it. My friends got various drinks and no drink was served the same. We also tried the brussel sprouts, larb gai tacos and got two entrees. The sprouts had a nice char, the sauce was surprising as it seemed more mayo like. The larb gai taco was a new take on the classic dish and I thought it was delicious. The tortilla created a good vessel but I wish there was more filling. The entrees we tried were the crying tiger and the drunken noodles. The Crying Tiger, we felt could have been better. The steak felt very flat and on the drier side which could have been due to how flat the steak was. The sauce that comes with crying tiger should be bottled and sold separately. The drunken noodles had a strong char flavor and the noodles held up with some bite. We ended up taking it togo and the flavor overall held up well the next day. A latex lover's dream. I'm joking. Not really. The balloon decor on the ceiling really did something positive for me as I couldn't stop staring at it and kept pointing out the inflatable sharks and surfboards. Also, it did smell like I was inside of a balloon (I'm assuming the decor was fresh) BUT, don't fret it did not take away from the fantastic food and service. To the real reason of this review, this is my favorite Thai place. I have not had one bad meal here and I look forward to trying much of their stuff on their menu. This is one of our go to spot for Thai. It has a fun ambiance with good drinks. Our stable dishes are Pad Thai, KaPow fried rice, and crab/chicken fried rice. We also love their appetizers of lamb lollipops, chicken wings and spring rolls. Just tried the pu pu platter recently and it was a good variety. The only miss so far is the beef massaman. The beef is a bit tough. I find Tiki Thai's beef in general is a bit tough even in KaPow Fried Rice. The only tender one is the thin sliced one in the pu pu platter. Absolutely outstanding! Staying in Reston and my HR rep highly recommended Tiki Thai! A very fun restaurant with a great vibe and decor that pops off the wall. Nice outdoor seating area as well. I debated between several interesting takes that included the chef's version of several Thai favorites. In the end, I did take my server's recommendation which was the "Cry Baby Noodles" that are featured in the Netflix show "Hunger"... I asked about another dish and my server was adamant - Cry Baby Noodles! This was featured on the Chef's Specials. The dish was amazing with thick rice noodles that you see in Drunken Noodle dishes. Awesome flavor... the shrimp was perfect not overcooked and the dish was piping hot. I enjoyed the flavors and found the tiny pieces of sweet pork sausage very tasty and tender. The crumbled egg was also unique with celery mixture. A welcome surprise that I imagine will involve watching Hunger on Netflix!
