Delicious food. Excellent service. Love it here. I got the eel and avocado roll and the Mongolian combination. My friend got spring rolls and the fried rice. All were super tasty. Will be dining here again soon.
Did a pickup order. I thought the food was alright. There could've been more flavor for the mapo tofu and moo shu pork. I would say the quality of the dishes we got were more on par with Chinese fast food while being more expensive. They also forgot one of our orders but I was able to get a refund for the missing dish once I called them. I recommend getting the coconut shrimp.
The food is great. Really really good. Excited to order take out or delivery if they do that. Service also good. Fast, polite, efficient. But I never want to go back in here. Loud, awful music. Weird decor. Freezing cold. The booths are so thin I kept feeling every movement of the person behind me. Not ideal. Just a weird vibe for a place in a strip mall in suburban Va.
Songbird is an Asian Cafe & Bar located in Fairfax, VA. The restaurant makes comfor Chinese American food and custom cocktails. They even have a disco ball ! Some of our favorites: *Lychee Pearl Cocktail *Sapporo *Sichuan Spicy Wontons *Disco Tots *Crab Rangoon *Mighty Spider Roll *Tiger Roll This restaurant provides fast service all around, from ordering to receiving drinks and food quickly after placing your order!
Ambiance: beautiful big bar with Asian decor. I'm not sure about the underwater guy in the front though. Service: quick service and good came out with little wait. Food: there was a blend of Chinese-American, sushi and Thai. I typically do not go to restaurants that have that many Asian cuisines on their menu because it looks confusing to me. I normally choose more 'authentic' style restaurants. I want to state that so my review doesn't seem too harsh. 2 of my friends and I shared the crab rangoons, Peking duck and broccoli. Crab Rangoon was average but I did appreciate the sauce wasn't the typical sweet chili sauce. Our main had great crispy skin but the duck was dry. I was disappointed since it was $69 so I was expecting it to be a lot better. The broccoli had great taste but u was surprised that it was American broccoli and not Chinese broccoli. I understand it's Chinese American but maybe I should have read the description a little better. My friends did love it. Overall - the food was ok. The service was great.
Third visit another 3/3. I tried the coconut shrimp this time and even my kids couldn't stop eating it. Forgot how big the sushi rolls were but they were devoured. At this point I'm going to try the whole menu! Had no problem getting a table for four at 5pm on a Sunday.
We decided to give Songbird a try after looking at their menu. We were here on a Saturday around 4 p.m., and there were only two other occupied tables. An employee greeted us and he asked where we wanted to sit. We chose a table near the door. It had banquette seats as well as chairs. The decor here is somewhat quirky, especially the statue-like figure in a diving suit. To drink, my husband got a Tsingtao beer, and I got a yuzu-lime spritzer mocktail. I liked that mocktail as it was very refreshing. Our server was polite, friendly, and efficient. We both started with hot and sour soup. It was quite good, which we appreciated, especially since in recent times, we've had some less-than-stellar versions elsewhere. The soup had just enough "hot" and "sour" plus the amount of stock was generous. It was served to us along with a good-sized bowl of crispy noodles. For our entrees, we chose Ma Po Tofu and General Tso's chicken. We appreciated that all their chicken entrees have white meat. The Ma Po Tofu was a vegan version. It did have some spice, and we thought the amount of spice was just right. We also enjoyed the General Tso's chicken. It was properly prepared with just enough sauce. The portion was large, and we ended up taking some home with us. Each entree comes with jasmine rice, and we had enough left to take home with the chicken. Overall, we really liked the food, and we both agree that we will return.
Songbird has such a beautiful, cozy vibe perfect for a rainy day. I stumbled upon this gem while searching for a sushi spot for lunch, and I'm so glad I did. We started with the fried chicken bao, which was saucy, crunchy, and paired perfectly with the soft, fluffy bao bun. My husband ordered the vegetable spring rolls, which he thought were just okay. Next, I had the Dynamic sushi roll, and it was excellent. The shrimp tempura inside was warm with the perfect crunch, which paired beautifully with the spicy tuna on top. For my entrée, I ordered the Singapore rice noodles, and they were by far the best I've ever had full of flavor and perfectly cooked. My husband had the fried rice with vegetables, and he really enjoyed his dish as well. We also tried the lychee cocktails, which were smooth and delicious, though a bit on the pricey side for my liking. As for the service, I have no complaints. Our food came out promptly, and our drinks were consistently refilled. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would definitely come back to try more dishes on the menu.
This place is such a fun twist on a Chinese takeout bar. The atmosphere blends tiki hut vibes with Chinese influences, making it feel lively, unique, and perfect for grabbing drinks with friends. One of the highlights of the night was meeting the owner, Jason. We bonded over our shared Cantonese backgrounds and even got to meet his aunt, who was visiting from California and happened to be sitting next to us. It made the whole experience feel incredibly welcoming and personal. We ordered the Dynamite Roll, which was a solid choice with 8 generous pieces, and the Szechuan spicy wontons, which were juicy with just the right amount of heat. If you visit, definitely grab a seat at the bar. The bartenders are friendly, engaging, and really add to the experience. We were treated to a complimentary shot of Jäger with Jason and even got to sample their Lychee Pearl cocktail because the bartender had made an extra. The cocktails really stood out. Instead of masking everything with sugary juices, they use extracts and creative techniques to build balanced drinks that complement the flavors beautifully. Jason also mentioned that their cocktail specials change every month, so we already told him we'll be back regularly to see what new creations he comes up with.
Met up with friend for week day lunch - it was Easter / Spring break week, restaurant was surprisingly quiet - guess everyone out of town. Fine with us, less crowds the better. Ordered the Sichuan green beans, moo shu pork & Toyko rolls - the beans spicy & crunchy was my fav. I really wanted sashimi but there was no sampler platter, just by the piece. Gorgeous interior, nice spot for a date or just friends outing with the extensive drinks menu.
Amazing place with such a cool, charming atmosphere, beautiful design, and the friendliest people running the place! Our friends are regulars here, and after they introduced us to it, we're officially obsessed too! The bartender was truly top-notch, and the cocktails were absolutely incredible -- so creative and unique, especially the ones with Asian-inspired flavors and ingredients. I also love that every month they add something new and exciting to their cocktail collection, so there's always something different to try. And the food is just as amazing -- delicious, flavorful, and full of variety! I love that they serve Chinese fusion cuisine alongside Japanese sushi, rolls, and sashimi. So when you can't decide whether you're in the mood for Chinese or Japanese... this is definitely the place to go! Such a gem. We'll absolutely be back!
It was a carry out order. But the restaurant itstif inside is really pretty and interesting. Nice car. Sitting states and decorations. Atmosphere is really chill. Service was great. Easy pick up. Free outdoor parking Food was good. I would say wings were not my fav. But i also got hot and sour soup, which was great. I got cucumbers, which were amazing. They were just slightly pickled with nice sesame seeds over them really delicious shrimp fried rice was good. Shrimp was really big and delicious. Rice seemed a little dry. Eggrolls were great. I would definitely return and try more things of the Manuel and I will also try to sit at the bar only because I really like the ambience.
I've been coming to Songbird for a while now--since they opened and took over the previous restaurant, Masala Wok. I loved their hot and sour soup. BUT after the rude and unprofessional front desk lady spoke to me when I tried to order the soup over the phone, that changed. She said it's "company policy" to order online, which is clearly not true. She was extremely condescending and abrasive. I know she's not the owner, but she's bad for business. I'll be finding another place for my hot and sour soup. Goodbye, Songbird.
Flew into town for a concert and saw this at the top of the recommendations, very serendipitous! The place has a great atmosphere from the moment you walk in, the decor has a unique kitsch and the music is a definite vibe as well, and that's before you meet the staff. The staff was friendly front to back, hostess, waitress, bar tender- friendly and knew the menu and had solid recommendations and knowledge of the menu. The food was great, we had rangoons for an appetizer, followed by their famous General Tso's and the Mongolian Combination, all delicious! Highly recommend this place if you're in the area! Shout out to Jason! read more
This adventitious find popped up on my way out of the city. In general, the outer suburbs are better for Chinese food than DC itself, so I gave them a shot. My takeout was ready in timely fashion, and there was definitely some quality there. My kung pao tofu was a little sweet as the dish normally is, but also amply spicy as I requested and came with plenty of peanuts, extra-crispy tofu, and a few other vegetables. Lo mein was a fairly straightforward soy-garlic affair, though I must say I appreciated the option to add some tofu to that as well. My spring rolls came sauceless and were fairly basic and cabbage-y, but a decent way to round out a meal. I appreciated their thorough vegetarian labeling; of course some things were not available to me that I wish they would make vegetarian, but the most important thing is being able to make informed decisions. I skipped the ma po tofu this time, but they claim it offers genuine numbing sensations and they did enough to convince me that it might be worth coming back to try. read more
Glad to revisit a place after a while to find they are still as good as they used to be. Jason knows his craft, makes on point recommendations, food remains fantastic, ambience is warm and inviting. Vesper Martini 6/5-hard to find such a clean, crisp, yet bright Martini. Midnight Sun 5/5-exactly as described Old Fashioned--reminiscent of a Clouseau Dan Dan Noodles--5/5 Harvest Sushi-4/5 read more

Songbird is honestly a hidden gem that provides a dark and romantic vibe for a girls night out or just a casual night out with your partner. The atmosphere: Small and intimidate restaurant. Offers booth and bar seating, you'll get great experiences at both. The food: The five spice chicken wings are crispy on the outside and hot and juicy on the inside. Served with a sweet sauce, comparable to fish sauce, it was the perfect starter. My friends and I shared the Sticky Crispy Beef and the Fried Rice. By far my favorite crispy beef that I have tried. The service: I can't say enough good things about how amazing, welcoming, and friendly everyone is here. The bartender, Nate (I think), was great too! read more

Came on a Sunday night and wasn't too crowded! They decorated the place very well, both for the Chinese American aspects and Christmas holidays. I had the HK Milk Tea Punch which was tasty, but don't really think it was worth $20 essentially. I had the sticky crispy beef which was pretty tasty alongside the free rice refills! Definitely more of Chinese American taste so expect that when you come here. Pretty atmosphere and would come again for Chinese American food, but maybe something that doesn't lean more towards traditional dishes/something that could be found cheaper at other Chinese restaurants. read more
Stopped by with friends for dinner. Located in a shopping plaza in fairfax, there's plenty of parking outside! Indoors is beautifully decorated with low dim lights. I was surprised how much smaller the dining room was compared to the outside building lol Menu consisted of Chinese American cuisine and sushi options! We ordered the mapo tofu, crispy beef, and general tso chicken. There's also a cool drink menu with unique Asian inspired recipes, which my friend said was good! Mapo tofu: this was okay.. you have to pay extra to get meat added which was interesting lol the flavor was okay. Crispy beef: flavor was amazing! Beef pieces were crispy & was pleasantly surprised on this portion size. General tso chicken: portion size was pretty good however I thought the chicken could have been crispier. The sauce was very sticky/ clumpy & wasn't really spicy imo. Service was friendly & was waited in fast (including food came out very fast!) + side is that there is free rice refills! Overall, it's a decent place depending on what you're craving. This place definitely is higher in prices compare to other Chinese American restaurant. I'd come back for the crispy beef if I was craving it but probably would not select songbird to get mapo tofu or general tso chicken. read more
Songbird has a great vibe with amazing decor accompanied with great food and amazing service. I came to Songbird extremely hungry and the portion sizes were so big that I ended up with leftovers. My favorite thing that I ate was probably the chicken lo mein. Everything was extremely flavorful. All of the servers were extremely attentive to us and made sure that we had everything we needed. Can't wait to come back! Just as an FYI Songbird is a small restaurant with only a few tables so keep that in mind. We went on a Saturday night and as it got busy there were no tables left. But they ended up doing is having people sit at the bar and move them over to tables as they became available. read more
The atmosphere here is a vibe. Def a cool feel. However, the food was just okay. Tried their famous General Taos chicken and it was a bit disappointing. A lot of the pieces were just fried breading and the chicken overall was over fried and a bit dry. I liked the rib concept but it required the sauce since the char siu marinate wasn't completely there. The spider roll was just okay. Maybe I had too high expectations. Seems like a dope place for drinks. I'd try them again and see if it's any better. read more

We stopped by for an impromptu cocktail and bite to eat. We were greeted and seated immediately. Songbird featured 'the Black Lagoon' as their theme. Ambiance 5/5 We ordered drinks and a few small plates to start. All tables were full and the people seemed happy, and enjoying themselves but not overly excited. Food was fine- arriving pretty quickly and was well prepared but not spectacular. Food 4/5 The service was fine 4/5 the people seeing that I was reviewing stated several times they are not a restaurant, but a cocktail bar with food. read more
Went here with a friend to try out the food, I've seen tiktoks about the menu and bar service and I have to say they live up to the hype. There was about a 5 minute wait and Jason at the front was kind of us to bring us some cold water to our table. The decor is so fun they have a lot of Asian inspired art on the wall and a sea diver in the front I had to grab a pic. Also shoutout to our waiters Liam and Anastasia who were so kind to give us recommendations for appetizers and drinks. The lemonade is so refreshing you gotta have it We ordered the crab ragoons, spicy dumplings and beef ribs to start. The crab ragoons was my favorite bite and I loved the peanut flavor on the spicy dumplings. The ribs were a little charred but the sauce helped. For our entrees we had some sushi rolls, the fish tasted very fresh and we left feeling so full. The menu here is solid and the vibes are chill I will be back in the future. read more
Stopped in for a late night sushi craving. 30 minutes from home but definitely worth the drive. Beautiful spot. Handcrafted cocktails. Japanese whiskey. Food was great. Service was cool. It was close to the end of the night. Pretty great crowd also. Not too much given it was a week day near a college campus. Family owned spot. The owners were super chill, sat and ate at the bar. 10/10 read more

Stumbled across this place after flying home from a week in Palm Springs with a good friend. We were both hungry, it was on the way into town from Dulles, and what a find it turned out to be. If this place was in DC, it would have a line outside every day. The lighting is fantastic, the music is amazing, the food is excellent, and the cocktail program is out of this world. I'd be happy if a place checked two of those four boxes, and this one nails all of them. It feels like a disco in the best way. Can't wait to come back! read more

Service: our service was friendly, helpful, and attentive. Warm greeting at the door and instantly brought to the table. I was taking my Mom to lunch, and our server complimented Mom's nails. Little things matter more than we know, sometimes small gestures have a big impact: I appreciated Mom's smile. Both our server and the bartender stopped by our table. Everyone made us feel like guests. I got the impression they were the owners. Food: We ordered General Tso's chicken. Mom requested a little extra heat. She really enjoyed the meal. The portion was generous and Mom was able to take food home. I had Dragon Roll (as I recall). Solid dish, could be a better value with 1-2 more rolls. I ordered cucumber rolls after finishing the Dragon Rolls to fill me up. Crab Rangoon starter was tasty. Our food arrived very quickly. Ambiance: Songbird has a vibe. Part traditional, part quirky (Atmospheric Diving Suit near the front), and part Tiki bar (my impression). Attention to detail is evidenced throughout. Tea pot and water cafe showed attention to details. Didn't have the opportunity to try a cocktail on this visit, but they look like they're crafted with the same attention to detail. We were glad we stopped in. read more

We came in just in time with there lunch special where it includes a spring roll with rice with a choice of popular dishes I got there famous general tso which was a good combination of flavor and heat all for 16 dollars plus tax and we also added a yellowtail roll which add a nice refreshing flavor to balance out the overall meal The atmosphere is definitely unique and a lot areas to snap a photo to capture the moment and The service was great and very quick of getting the food out and very welcome always a plus overall a lovely experience . read more

Update after my third visit to this great place! This will be my last update as I strongly believe I will be a repeat customer and will only say better things about this restaurant/cocktail bar every time. Atmosphere: Me and my friend came on a Saturday night around 10:30pm. Bar was nicely, dimly lit as always with very unique chinese decor hanging from the ceilings, a beautiful disco bar casting soft pleasant lights around the area, and a generally pleasant atmosphere for relaxed conversation and a comfortable bite. A few people at the bar chatting with each other and with the barowner, a few people at the booths having great conversation, very very good vibes all around. Service: As positive repeat customers, me and my friend had the pleasure of the owner and hostess each greeting us with a "long time no see", which I find very endearing. Service was quick and pleasant as always, as we do usually come outside of busy hours. We were attended to by all three main workers at the time between taking orders, delivering food, and providing details on the drinks and having a light conversation with us. Plates were unobtrusively cleaned up as we ate and I felt well-cared for. Food came out very quick and fresh, water was topped off often. We moved from the booth to the bar after finishing our food and the experience was just as great if not even more attentive. Food: We came in wanting drinks and a light dinner and were provided just that. We ordered Chicken Thai Basil, Egg Drop Soup, Dan Dan Noodles, and Crab Rangoon. The thai basil came with a side of white rice and was 100% spot-on for me: hot, fresh, great spice and flavor. The egg drop soup came with soup crackers; hot, filling, comforting. The dan-dan noodles tasted very bland to me but I do not have anything to compare it to as it was my first time eating dan dan noodles, so maybe it is just like that. I mixed it in with the leftover thai basil sauce and it was good. The crab rangoon had chives and some other things in the cream cheese that made it much more savory and definitely toned down the overall sweetness, which I absolutely adored. It paired amazingly with the orange dipping sauce that came with it. Overall fresh, hot, delicious. Drinks: Satisfying as always, good amount of alcohol for a light bite/cocktail bar experience. Barowner once again gave great insight on his drinks and why he designed them the way he did. He's had lots of drink experience and relays it clearly through how you get to experience his crafted drinks. Every flavor/note he listed was very apparent in each sip. Strong, bold flavors that give a nice buzz. Staff gave strong recommendations as well, I always appreciate a staff that knows/enjoys its own menu. Price: It is pricier than you would think coming in (at this time around $20 for most 1.5-serving dishes and single drinks), but for me I think the flavors absolutely justify the prices. $$-level prices for a $$-level experience and flavor, I personally think I got what I paid for and cannot complain about this. Some of it is traditional chinese food which I understand you can find for much cheaper elsewhere, but I do think some of that food just hits harder here. I have had plenty of mediocre chinese food from other places, I really think this place nails some of these dishes. Overall a great experience, I have had a great time with the staff as I generally came at less busy hours, but the way they present themselves I fully believe that they maintain top-tier service in the busiest hours, and I will see for myself one day. If you are good to them, they will be good to you, this is how customer service should be. I always come in person with friend(s) and do not plan on delivery/takeout as I come partly for the atmosphere. I will be back soon hopefully for April's signature "limited-time" drink. read more
I came back and had another great experience at Songbird! I ordered the mapo tofu and sesame chicken -- both were absolutely delicious, full of flavor, and perfectly cooked. We only came for drink but I will be back. My original destination was closed but this spot was still open so we decided to give it a try. Love the vibe and the menu looked good but we were only on a mission for drinks. The bartender was knowledgeable about their alcohol and flavor balancing so he could have told me anything (I have experience bartending so I know he knew his craft). I even like how it's a little in the cut on the end of a shopping center. Also, bonus point for music. Can't wait to come back for the full experience. read more

Hands down the best restaurant in Reston Town Center! Pisco y Nazca serves up the most authentic, delicious Peruvian food I've had in the area. The ceviche is fresh and flavorful, the pisco sours are amazing, and the service is always top-notch. The patio is perfect for a nice evening, and the prices are great. If you're tired of generic chain food, do yourself a favor and check this place out. You won't regret it! read more
