7/15/26. I came here with wife and family for lunch after hearing about it from social media. I had a mediocre experience and will explain. I called a day before to reserve for a party of 5. I gave the details very clearly on the phone on how many people, date and time. The person who answered sounded fluent in English, but made me repeat myself so many times and I would have rather not called. It is a newer business as I could still see the grand opening flowers outside. It was a weekday lunch so it was not too busy. Upon coming in, everything was clean and organized. The menu was easy to understand and we ended up ordering the combo for 4, Beef & Sushi. After ordering, our server brought side dishes and served the cold menu first including the sushi set. I thought everything was fine up to here. Then came the meats. My server did not know what type of meat he was cooking and ruined my dining experience by overcooking the meats. He would refer to the meats as just "steak" when we asked what type of meat it was. For marinated beef short rib, he said it was pork. My frustration came mainly with the cooking of the meat. My server would place the meat on the grill and immediately flip it and repeatedly flipped the meat while adjusting the flame. Almost all of the meats I ate were very tough, dry and burnt. I could hear another server giving advice and tips on using the vent or how to cook. In my head I knew the guy who answered the phone the day before was my server. It was only at the end, another server ended up cooking the pork galbi. The Laku pork galbi was the best meat I had for the whole meal. I think technique and knowledge of cooking has to be the basic if you are working at a BBQ place. The cold noodles had a good broth, but the noodles itself missed the mark. For a party of 5, the beef and sushi combo for 4 and Laku pork galbi was a good portion. If I were to come again, I would like to have a server that knew how to cook and had basic knowledge of the types of meat being cooked. I appreciated the other servers that came to help out and offered complimentary kimchi pancake and grilled fish. My husband and I decided to have a spontaneous dinner date at Laku Korean Grill & Sushi, and it was absolutely amazing! It truly deserves a 5-star rating! We chose Combo A from their signature combo menu. The sashimi was incredibly fresh. Every single side dish was bursting with flavor. We chose beef brisket and pork galbi out of 4 options. The server inquired about our preferred meat temperature, and both were grilled to perfection. The quality of the meat was outstanding. To top it off, we had cold buckwheat noodles, which were served in a generous portion and were so refreshing. The service was top-notch. Laku is amazing! I went twice in the same week on a Thursday and again on a Saturday. You know what that means? In my book, it's THAT good. I seldom visit restaurants multiple times given that I'm always in the mood to trying a new restaurant. They are in their "soft opening" phase and they have hit the nail on all aspects of their business. The customer service, food, and ambiance all have hit a home run for me. On Thursday, I opted to get sushi only. It was a peaceful meal and not crowded at all. We also got individualized attention and our meal came with edamame, salad, miso soup along with treats from the kitchen including Seared Salmon Belly-torched salmon belly, guacamole, coconut flakes. The little treats were amazing and the sushi is amazing!!! Lettuce is not automatically included but can be requested. I enjoyed showing one of the members of my party that they can make a lettuce wrap with the meat. Staff did a great job cooking for us and changing out the grills. My dad liked the pork galbi the best out of the meats though I liked them all equally. For the cold buckwheat noodles, we did the spicy version. It was too spicy for our tastebuds but the additional vinegar/mustard condiments cut the heat for us. If I ever order the Combo again, I'll opt for the non-spicy version of the naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles). Since I knew Sony Chef was from Yuraku, I already expected the sushi to be good, so we only tried the sushi and sashimi at first. They kindly served us muksabal (cold acorn jelly soup) on the house, and the seasoning was so delicious that it immediately made me think, "Wow, their Korean food must be great too." It's hard to find Korean restaurants in Virginia that truly satisfy that authentic Korean restaurant craving. We sometimes even drive to New Jersey just for Korean food. This restaurant fills that gap perfectly. I highly recommend the grilled pork ribs (dwaeji galbi), naengmyeon, and assorted Korean pancakes (modeum jeon). My mother-in-law especially loved the food and said it tasted exactly like the dishes she used to enjoy in Busan years ago. We will definitely be coming back! Went there twice... biggest issue how disorganized the place is... to the point where it's distracting your dining experience. I ordered one of the sets that came with a lot of different options. First lady took my order on a piece of paper, and then 5 minutes later, another lady came with a tablet to take our order and confirm what was written. I had to chase down two items that I never received multiple times. I sent back the cold buckwheat noodle dish because the noodles were undercooked... The food was really really good. That was the saving grace for our outing. I actually went back the next day to try their sushi. Hostess said that I had to wait... I'm watching the sushi area with 4 tables that have not been bussed... I don't see a single server helping anyone in that area... basically, 15 minutes of watching all that and not a single table getting cleared... I left. Yes they're new... but that's not a great excuse, it seemed like they're no manager in charge and people are just scrambling around. Don't go with expectations for good... or even good enough service... it will be bad, but the food is good. Maybe go early when it's not that busy. read more

We enjoyed our food there. We had the bbq and sushi set for 2. My husband and I couldn't finish it was so much food. The sushi was fresh. I wish they had Ala carte options on a separate sushi menu. It also came with shrimp and vegetable tempura which was light and crispy not too greasy or heavy. The Korean bbq was tasty and the quality was really good. Usually gogiville is our go to but if you want a fancier vibe Laku was really pretty. The service was really great and speedy for us. If I could give zero stars, I would. I understand this place just opened but they have no idea how to run a restaurant properly. They served us raw meat because they don't know how to properly cook korean bbq (pork) and they overcooked the ribeye! When we told them the pork was raw all they could say is "my bad." Our fire went out on our grill and they didn't even know it. Plenty of other better options in the area. Would not recommend this place to anyone.
