The quality of the meat was excellent--fresh, beautifully presented, and incredibly delicious. Every dish we tried was flavorful, and you can really tell they care about the quality of their ingredients. The portion sizes were very generous, especially considering the price. I was honestly impressed by how much food we received and felt that the prices were very reasonable for both the quality and quantity. What made our experience even better was the staff. I came on a Saturday night and there was a 30min wait. Friendly staff, quick service. The sushi quality is really good. The interior was nice, with plenty of seating. They have some tables that don't have the grills so if you are planning to get kbbq (which they will ask) just make sure the table has the grill! Dishes we tried- crab wonton, marinated galbi (short rib), mul nangmyun (cold broth noodles). Crab wontons were delicious with real crab, and the galbi was amazing- tender and flavorful, and the nangmyun was one of the best I've tried! The cold broth is super refreshing with perfect sweetness and flavor. Would definitely come back especially for the galbi and nangmyun, and one of the servers were so kind to let us try the broth for the super spicy cold broth noodles as we were contemplating which to order- and we may get that next time too as it was also delicious (but spicy!). Also, the a la carte galbi came with steamed eggs (individually) which were also delicious,, and soybean paste soup, which were decent (but personally I wouldn't pay for if I had to order separately). My family were having lunch at Laku and invited us to join them. So husband and I headed over. We arrived after they started eating, but the staff was so accommodating and gave us a big booth right next to my family so we could all dine together. That was such a nice touch, especially with four little ones in the group! We ordered the Beef & Sushi Combo for two. The sashimi and roll came in generous portions, and the tempura was nice and crispy. I also loved that a bowl of chilled buckwheat noodles was included at the end of the meal, such a refreshing way to finish, especially on a hot summer day. I was a little disappointed to see that several items that were originally on the menu had been crossed out because I was looking forward to trying them. But I'm glad I got to try the Chilled Acorn Jelly. It's a must-have. One small service issue: we didn't receive the steamed egg souffle until the very end of the meal, even after several reminders. That said, overall, the service was good, and I really appreciated how accommodating they were with our large family group. The meat quality was okay but nothing particularly special. So if you are looking for a place where you can try a variety of Korean dishes in one meal, Laku is definitely worth checking out. The Food: I went with the Sushi & Sashimi Combo and also split the Seared Salmon Belly and a Marinated Short Rib to give the KBB portion a try. The sushi was good! The restaurant was bustling with full tables. We tried the sushi/BBQ set for four. Sushi came out first, so good. Can't remember all the names of the fish, but the ones I ate just melted in my mouth. Steamed egg - SO GOOD. Too bad it o my came in a small bowl. I think I could eat a full size by myself. Beef tartare was tasty. Had better elsewhere, but definitely good compared to most places. shrimp fried rice - only had two shrimps in the dish. Not very flavorful, would pass next time. Laku opened up about a month and a half ago and is the current new spot for the centreville area. What sets Laku apart from the other kbbq places in our area is that it's also a sushi joint (and I don't mean just a small menu section for rolls). While we didn't have the sushi tonight, the kbbq was great. It's ala carte and not AYCE which means it's pricier but the meat is better quality. The truffle forest kinoko wasn't bad but I'll probably just get the oysters next time. The pork belly and marinated short rib were absolutely delicious and cooked perfectly by our waiter. The ambience is a bit loud and the layout is more open than I like but the food makes up for it. Service was great and I'll definitely be trying this place again. The space is a lot bigger than you expect, service is fantastic from the moment you walk in to walk out, and the food was well done! Having the option of sushi/sashimi and/or Korean does not seem like it would work but this place did it so well. I love how you can order à la carte or get a preselected combination menu, which is what we went with. There were four adults and one toddler; plenty to eat and we stuffed ourselves and still had to ask for boxes to take leftovers! Rich was super attentive and told us about how they're still in soft opening phase. By the time we left it was packed. BK also grilled our meats to perfection and even expertly packed our leftovers. 7/15/26. I came here with wife and family for lunch after hearing about it from social media. I had a mediocre experience and will explain. I called a day before to reserve for a party of 5. I gave the details very clearly on the phone on how many people, date and time. The person who answered sounded fluent in English, but made me repeat myself so many times and I would have rather not called. It is a newer business as I could still see the grand opening flowers outside. It was a weekday lunch so it was not too busy. Upon coming in, everything was clean and organized. The menu was easy to understand and we ended up ordering the combo for 4, Beef & Sushi. After ordering, our server brought side dishes and served the cold menu first including the sushi set. I thought everything was fine up to here. Then came the meats. My server did not know what type of meat he was cooking and ruined my dining experience by overcooking the meats. He would refer to the meats as just "steak" when we asked what type of meat it was. For marinated beef short rib, he said it was pork. My frustration came mainly with the cooking of the meat. My server would place the meat on the grill and immediately flip it and repeatedly flipped the meat while adjusting the flame. Almost all of the meats I ate were very tough, dry and burnt. I could hear another server giving advice and tips on using the vent or how to cook. In my head I knew the guy who answered the phone the day before was my server. It was only at the end, another server ended up cooking the pork galbi. The Laku pork galbi was the best meat I had for the whole meal. I think technique and knowledge of cooking has to be the basic if you are working at a BBQ place. The cold noodles had a good broth, but the noodles itself missed the mark. For a party of 5, the beef and sushi combo for 4 and Laku pork galbi was a good portion. If I were to come again, I would like to have a server that knew how to cook and had basic knowledge of the types of meat being cooked. I appreciated the other servers that came to help out and offered complimentary kimchi pancake and grilled fish. I've only heard about this place for 2 weeks and I've already been here 3 times! Both the meat and sushi are so fresh and tender. I got the beef and sushi combo for 2 and it was very delicious. All the side dishes were seasoned well and portion sizes were great! However, the star of the show was actually the acorn jelly! The cold slushy broth is so refreshing and has the perfect amount of savory and vinegar which I will get every time I come. It comes topped with perilla leaves which I ABSOLUTELY LOVE. If I did have a complaint, I would say there was SO much food! The combo for 2 would have easily fed 3 or 4. We didn't get to finish the nengmyeon but I was already satisfied and very very full. Edward, the manager, is so nice and he gets very involved from hosting to running food and talking to each table to make sure everyone was satisfied! My servers, Matt and Casie were very attentive and happy to help. They are so friendly and cooked our meats to PERFECTION! The interior is also very bright which made the colors of the sushi and meat stand out to show how fresh they were. It's very clean inside and the banchan get set right after you sit down. Since I knew Sony Chef was from Yuraku, I already expected the sushi to be good, so we only tried the sushi and sashimi at first. They kindly served us muksabal (cold acorn jelly soup) on the house, and the seasoning was so delicious that it immediately made me think, "Wow, their Korean food must be great too." It's hard to find Korean restaurants in Virginia that truly satisfy that authentic Korean restaurant craving. We sometimes even drive to New Jersey just for Korean food. This restaurant fills that gap perfectly. I highly recommend the grilled pork ribs (dwaeji galbi), naengmyeon, and assorted Korean pancakes (modeum jeon). My mother-in-law especially loved the food and said it tasted exactly like the dishes she used to enjoy in Busan years ago. We will definitely be coming back! Food overall was really excellent! From banchan, sushi and Kbbq, everything was very flavorful and to the point. Pork jowl came in two large pieces with some peppers and cooked to nice crispness. Brisket was tender and pork rib was marinated with just the right amount of seasoning. Their egg jjim was served in single serve cups and soft as a cloud. Our served server surprised us with some complimentary salmon belly sushi which was served with flames at the table. Superb presentation! Only drawback which I think can be improved is staff education in service etiquette. Staff clearing tables can be more attentive to clear dishes without so much noise. Went there twice... biggest issue how disorganized the place is... to the point where it's distracting your dining experience. I ordered one of the sets that came with a lot of different options. First lady took my order on a piece of paper, and then 5 minutes later, another lady came with a tablet to take our order and confirm what was written. I had to chase down two items that I never received multiple times. I sent back the cold buckwheat noodle dish because the noodles were undercooked... The food was really really good. That was the saving grace for our outing. I actually went back the next day to try their sushi. Hostess said that I had to wait... I'm watching the sushi area with 4 tables that have not been bussed... I don't see a single server helping anyone in that area... basically, 15 minutes of watching all that and not a single table getting cleared... I left. Yes they're new... but that's not a great excuse, it seemed like they're no manager in charge and people are just scrambling around. I went for my 40th and whew~ They went all out. I had a large group and they were able to set up 2 tables for us. I cant remember the servers' names (sorry) but all my friends commented on the top notch service! They made sure to check in and get all our orders and even made some adjustments on our order depending on people's food preferences/restrictions. If yall have a group of 3 or more, I'd definitely go for a set menu because chances are the item you want from the a la carte menu is already including in one of the sets. Sushi was fresh and delicious and portions were huge - we couldn't finish everything so they gave us ice packs and boxes to take home.
