The food was surprisingly good! We ordered the snow tangsuyuk and jaengban jjajang. Plenty of food to share amongst four people! I loved the chewy but crispyness of the tansuyuk. The jjajangmyun had alot of seafood which was a nice touch! The smell when you first walk in was off putting but the great taste of the food made up for it. read more

Jajangmyeon and tangsuyuk is peak comfort food for me so I'm always looking for it. I'll admit, I'm very picky since I'm always comparing it to my fave spot (which sadly is in another state) but I try not to let that affect my judgment too much. The tangsuyuk here is the closest I've come to my fave so far with great batter and crispiness. The sweet and sour sauce was thicker and had less vegetables than I'd like but was still good and I appreciated that it was served on the side without me having to ask. The Jajangmyeon wasn't speaking to me as much, but I still ate it! As someone who frequently dines solo, I really appreciated the combo menu options. It can be tricky to order Chinese or Korean food when a lot of places do family style portions for sharing. I often wind up with more food (and a bigger check) than I need for just me! The combo option was still a huge serving but not overwhelming and it was a great price! read more

I came here for lunch and thought that it was a great Korean-Chinese restaurant! As someone from NYC, it's so difficult to find Korean-Chinese fusion dishes so when I found one while I was in Virginia, I was so happy! The restaurant is homey and casual, with great quick service. We ordered their special dumplings, jjajjangmyeon, tansuyuk, beef fried rice, and donkatsu. It was an all-around amazing meal. The dumplings were huge and saucy (despite being so red, they were actually fairly sweet). The jjajjangmyeon and tangsuyuk were hits and both delicious. I also loved how they gave black bean sauce and jjampong broth on the side for you to enjoy with your fried rice. The only dish that might've been a miss was the donkatsu as we thought it was a bit dry. Otherwise, everything was great and I would definitely come back if I was craving Korean-chinese fusion, or just a comforting meal! read more

Bulgogi. This only thing hot spot on. $80+ bucks for 3 things? Kind of ridiculous. Only because I see 3 diplomatic Korean cars get out and go inside. Honestly in Hawaii. No donkatsu? Why? It's in your menu. Mabutofu noodles, no taste at all taste like spicy mush, no pork in it either? Fried shrimp with mayo? Knock off chinese, get the chinese one, taste 10x better, walnut shrimp. Does not justify in my mind $20 huge plate of mix & match? 50x better. Look up Soon's BBQ if you in Honolulu. read more

We ordered takeout from here for a party several hours ahead of time on their website. While most of the food was pretty good (lo mein, fried rice, bulgogi), the spicy squid dish was disappointing. The sauce was watery, so most of the squid was unseasoned/didn't hold the sauce, and the squid had a more rubbery texture. The reason why I give 4 stars and not 3 is because the staff told us they lost our order, but were able to spin up the 5 dishes we ordered in record speed of under 7 minutes to get our pick-up order ready in time, which I really appreciated! Maybe next time I'd come back I'd try dine-in and focus on their Chinese-Korean dishes like jajangmyun, which is more of their specialty. read more

Health: On the heavy side, but genuine enough for what's in the cuisine. It's a slightly Americanized portion Korean restaurant. Not bad for someone who knows what's actually in each dish. Not exactly light though. Price: Decent. Not too bad either way. The portion size is definitely enough for what you pay for a dish. Experience: Made pretty quickly. I arrived on the later side and they were accommodating. The interior was clean, the menu was clear with English and Korean. Good. Taste: Very flavorful, and with a decent variety to it. Each dish tasted as good as it looked, without too many good or bad surprises. Though, I will say the dumplings were very good. Kinda heavy, but the sauces did add so much flavor. Them being made in house was a bonus. Green flag. Very nice Good taste. Significant portions for the price. Fast Service. Overall, not bad. I might come here again. read more

My wife, two teenage sons, and I came here in early August 2025 for a Saturday night dinner. First, it's a clean, informal place that's family-friendly with lots of parking in a strip mall. The location is a few minutes south from the Lotte Plaza in Centreville - kind of close to the Route 29 and New Braddock Road intersection. Second, the Tang-Su-Yuk with pork was amazing - very tasty. The regular jja-jjang myun noodles were OK, but not particularly flavorful. One of my sons ordered the jjam-pong which he enjoyed a lot. I think it's probably better to dine-in at the restaurant because it's best to eat the Tang-Su-Yuk while it's hot. Third, the service was very good. After ordering within a few minutes of arriving, we were asked if everything was OK (or if we needed a refilling of water or the appetizer tray of yellow radishes and onions). I think it's a solid option for Korean-Chinese food in northern VA. read more

My go to for jjajangmyun in this area! Service is always good and the restaurant is clean and homey. I would highly recommend to only eat here in restaurant. I don't like how the noodles are too cold and doesnt actually taste right or I have to reheat myself when doing takeout. jajjangmyun - the sauce is more saucy/wet than some other places which I really like. very flavorful and always so much noodles and sauce for the price! it has more meaty and well balanced flavor but wish there was some meat or other toppings to go with the onion. 3.5/5 tang su yuk - sauce is nice and sweet and sour. love the pineapple slices and the thickness sticks to the meat very well! However, the pork is always dry but still decent and you get that craving. 2.75/5 read more

TAKEOUT REVIEW : Ordered takeout for 2 for dinner. We ordered jjang meon, medium chicken tang su yuk, and combo b+c (fried tied and jjang meon). We picked up the food pretty quickly after it was called in and got home within 5 minutes. Noodles were already room temp when opened the takeout out. Jjang meon sauce was also not hot. This made for a barely warm bowl. The fried rice was good and had a nice smokey flavor. Chicken tang su yuk was very crispy and this was actually hot. Overall everything tasted good but the temperature was off for the noodle dish. I think eating in person instead of getting takeout would be a better experience but I guess this was okay for what it was read more

Good fusion alternative to Jang Won for Korean Chinese Tried this place in March to venture out from Jang Won which is my go to Korean Chinese place in Centreville. Hao ru is easy to find and located in a quieter and smaller shopping center. The decor is straightforward and clean but nothing special. Clientele skews younger and appeared to be mostly Asian. Service is good with to the point interactions (I speak Korean so no language barrier). Got the fried dumplings to start (dumplings are large, crispy, and tasty), seafood jjam pong (stir the broth prior to eating since the broth tasted better on the bottom; some of the veggies in there were non traditional but hey it works), tang jja myun ie combo b + d (jja jang myun was a bit sweet for my liking but still good. Tang su yook was good), and khan poong shrimp (best dish of the spread. Shrimp was fresh and fried coating was perfectly chewy, spicy, and sweet). I think the flavors here are more fusion vs traditional korean chinese but enjoyed the dishes nonetheless. I liked the jjam pong better than the jja jang myun. Curious to try the cream shrimp next time! read more

It's up there with Jang Won. JaJaMyun and TangSuYuk sauce is smoother than Jangwon. Taste is more suddle. Portions is healthier than Jangwon. JamPong broth carried the same characteristics as well, smooth and suddle. Prices also slightly cheaper than JangWon. On a Wednesday night and it's packed with Korean families, is a good sign. Haoru is a family friendly restaurant that won't break your bank. There aren't too many Korean-Chinese food options in Centreville. I have tried Haoru for about 2 years now. I think the food, cleanliness and service was better in the beginning. I think it is the natural order of things for restaurants to get dirty over time, but there are improvements to be made in terms of cleanliness. The portion size is generous for a good price. I like their brisket Jjampong and gan jjajang. The tang su yuk here doesn't have a whole lot of batter around it so I appreciate that. You can either pour the sauce or dip the individual pieces based on your preference. Also, this is a tip: put some ice cubes in the pickled radish along with some vinegar. It'll make the radish crunchier. There are plenty of parking in the mall. read more

Not as good as it used to be. The creamy lemon shrimp used to have a crisp exterior but the sauce is now fully seeped in. Flavor is still nice and shrimp and portion is huge, but I miss it seeming freshly fried and then tossed in sauce. Chive japchae was new to me but I thought there would have been some glass noodles in the dish like typical japchae rather than the chive replacing it. The seafood gan ja jan was standard we ended up ordering more noodles to soak up the sauce. read more

Saw this place all over social media and it's been a hot second since I've had Korean/Chinese food so my husband and I decided to stop here. We ordered the fried mandu, the jampoong since that's usually my go to and the japchae/jajangmyeon dish. The fried mandu are HUGE and the sauce that comes with it is pretty mid. The jampoong honestly wasn't as flavorful as I was hoping. The best thing was the japchae/jajangmyeon which was interesting since I've never had a combo of the two noodles. Overall, everything was super mid. The best thing about this place is the value since we spent I think less than $45 for a TON of food, but overall, I don't see myself returning here. read more

Almost just as good as other Korean-Chinese places. The great thing is the portions are huge, and it's super affordable here. I've gotten my typical order of Ja Jang Meon and Tang Su Yuk and also something new: Jap Chae Ja Jang Meon. The japchae very is different and unique! I don't think it's my preference tho. Everything was solid, but this would not be go-to place for Korean-Chinese. read more

Casual vibe indoors with plenty of seating. I noticed that multiple reviews mentioned large portions, but I personally thought portions were simply adequate or maybe even a bit small. Ja jang meon tasted okay alongside the jjam pong, but I do wish the jjam pong had more vegetables/seafood with a richer broth. Shrimp khan poong maybe have had a bit too much batter since the outer coating had a thick "slimy" texture that sloughed off fairly easily. I personally found it equivalent to chicken skin, which was neither good nor bad in my opinion. Service was very good. I would visit again to try other menu items. read more

Came here on a Friday night looking to venture more into Korean Food. It was really a delight when the server immediately found a table for me once I sat down. The staff is really attentive so I do admire that if you need to flag down staff, pay your bill, ect. I got combo D consisting of Tangsuyuk and Fried rice. You get a lot for what you paid for! Tangsuyuk is crispy deep fried pork that comes with sweet and sour sauce for dipping ( or you could pour ). I really loved this dish as it's not too heavy on the batter but fried well where it's crispy, chewy, and with the sauce it's even better. The fried rice was also really good and is something I want to try by itself next time. It has a nice taste to it, especially if you are someone that likes that added wok hei flavor to it ( maillard reaction ). I just thought it was really delicious and paired with the Tangsuyuk it made me full! An amazing place if you like Korean-Chinese food. A hidden gem!! You might just be looking at a new go-to restaurant we're adding to our list! Hao Ru is a very casual spot to share some great foods with your family and friends. Despite being low on kitchen staff, the service was still amazing and food came out pretty quick. Highly recommend their jjamppong and yoo rin gi, they were our favorites! Food was great and service was too! Seafood Jjam Pong - pretty good noodles, soup can be a bit more rich as it tasted watered down but it's hard to get a good jjam pong anywhere else. Ja Jang Meon - one of the best we've had in the area. Tang Su Yuk Pork - We got the large and a huge platter came out. Another great chinese-korean restaurant in the area! I ordered the black bean noodle as well as the seafood noodle. 3.5 stars TL;DR: food was mediocre, and service was wonderful Came here for a Sunday lunch with my parents and were able to get a table before the lunch rush that came through. There are lots of tables and booths. The service was so good! They were all so nice and attentive. FOOD: ~Khangpoonggi dumplings (3.8/5): huge dumplings with meat and veggie filling. Next time I would get the sauce on the side because they get soggy. ~Pork Tangsooyuk (3.2/5): sauce was really good but the pork was dry ~Jajangmyun (2.9/5): was too watery, but the noodles were good and sauce had okay flavor ~Fried Rice (4/5): I know it's just fried rice, but theirs was very solid ~Spicy Brisket Stirfry (4/5): When it first came out, the portion looked small. But as you eat it, you realize how much is in it. The flavor was also really yummy ~Jjamppong (3.5/5): broth was okay but missing something. Had a decent amount of seafood ~Pork Katsu (3.7/5): good portion, but again a little dry Overall, this is an okay spot if you need to fulfill a craving read more

We decided to order takeout from here. First, I will say they separated the noodles from the soup and jjajangmyeon sauce which helped them not get soggy on the way here which I really appreciated. However, the noodles were kinda too thick for our liking and didn't really hold the sauce well. The jjajangmyeon sauce itself was really good. The fried rice was kinda bland and only worked if we spread the jjajangmyeon sauce over it. The jjambong was also pretty bland with not much flavor. The tangsuyeok was really good with good chew and crisp. We've tried better Korean Chinese restaurants so will not be ordering again from here. read more

My mom and I had a great experience at this restaurant! I have been when it first opened and the changes seem to be very positive. The restaurant seems much more established now. Very clean and well-maintained as well! The service was similar to any other Korean restaurant, nothing too special. The food really hit the spot. My mom has been wanting fried jjamppong noodles for the longest time and she said she has not seen this option in restaurants in her 30 years of living in the states. She was so surprised to find the meal she enjoyed so much growing up in Korea, so we had to order it! It was the perfect spicy kick but not too spicy where I would be reaching for water constantly. The flavors were very nice and the choice of veggies, meat, and seafood was perfect too. I ordered the ja jang myeon and I thought it was pretty good because you didn't taste so much MSG like other restaurants nearby. I personally think MSG overpowers dishes too much and can't taste the genuine flavors of the ingredients so I really enjoyed their take on this dish. Lastly, I honestly came for yoo ring gi because I just had it in Korea and it was so good. This one was really good too! I loved the sauce and the crispiness of the chicken. They give you so much portion so it was well worth the price. We took some to go because we could not finish and it was still good! I would definitely return to this restaurant! Highly recommend! read more

HAO RU - Hao Ru Seafood Noodle, jja Ja Jang Meon, Yoo Rin Gi (with chicken) - Korean Near Me - Centreville, Virginia

I was a little resistant in trying Hao Ru out, as I thought it was all hype - the place had gone viral for their jajangmyun/chapchae dish, and people were touting this place as being one of the best Korean-Chinese restaurants. Honestly, it was really hard for us to believe this. We came here a couple of times and have tried: +Gan Ja Jang - comes with your choice of pork or veggies; the hubs went for the pork +Sam Sun Gan Ja Jang - contained squid, scallops, and shrimp; not much shrimp in there, but I do like the fact that they use a larger-than-typical-sized scallops +Yoo Rin Gi - a sweet spicy & sour dish, in which you can have the sauce over pork, chicken, or shrimp; we opted for the shrimp, and this was pretty good; the shrimp was very large, deveined, and battered well; you'll have to consume this quickly, as the sauce, even though its thin in consistency, can get it soggy +Khan Poong Sal - aka, a kung pao dish with the sauce over your choice of pork, chicken, or shrimp; we tried it with the boneless chicken, and this was okay; the hubs enjoyed this, as the sauce is definitely better than what is served at other Korean-Chinese restaurants in the area; the chicken comes out already soggy, so not sure if there was a delay in serving the dish, but we did request it to come out extra crispy; it's a very saucy dish with a slight kick to it +Jjampong - the broth is a little thicker and has a kick, but wished it was more spicier Unfortunately, the dishes that we have ordered have been inconsistent; the seafood gan ja jang was super watery, which it was supposed to be the complete opposite - it was unenjoyable. Noodles have also been slightly overcooked. Service, on the other hand, is very friendly, attentive, and sweet! The place gets crowded, especially on Sundays, with the church crowd during lunch - service is still on point. Note that they have disposable 'aprons' that you can wear, because we all know about that jajang sauce! Located in the Centre Ridge Marketplace, there's ample parking in the large lot. +inconsistent dishes +friendly & attentive staff +has disposable aprons +located in the Centre Ridge Marketplace +plenty of parking in the large lot read more

I loved this place. A cozy Korean restaurant in Centreville. The food was quite excellent. The jajangmyeon was not too saucy - it had the right consistency where it's not too thick. You can actually enjoy the noodles and the sauce at the right ratio. The seafood noodle was not oily at all. A very good amount of food for 2! Very delicious Korean Chinese food, where all the flavors were very well balanced. The ja jang meon hit the spot and the beef brisket jjampong was something different but very good as it gave a more savory flavor with the beef brisket on top. It was slight overcooked but still very VERY GOOD. My favorite is by far the Kang Pung dumplings as they were super crispy, satisfying and the sauce was absolutely to die for.
