Cozy noodle shop in one of the many plazas out here in Fairfax. We came in as a party of two in a very cold Saturday evening and was able to get a seat quickly. The place was filling up and the ambiance reminds me of a traditional bustling noodle house - perfect for the cold snap we were experiencing at the time. We got hot and sour noodle soup, sichuan beef noodle soup, and an order of their pork soup dumplings. Portions are generous and prices are fair, it's easy to become a regular here if you live nearby. The hot and sour noodle soup is as advertised - just enough spice to complement the sour, but not overwhelm to make it feel like mala. It's served, as expected, with glass noodles, some bak choi, and some pork slices. Nothing spectacular but par for the course. The sichuan beef noodle foon soup was slight notch better. The broth gives really warm vibe and you can tell it's been brothing for a long time. Again just the right amount of spicy to make you keep slurping for more. The noodles were average, chewy, but not bouncy. Also comes with a healthy amount beef slices and bak choi. Again - a great noodle soup bowl but nothing jaw dropping. Soup dumplings were fantastic, however. The pork definitely has its own marinade and the soup is flavorful. I have been here so many time and recommended this spot and their many other locations to so many people. So so good and comforting. Can't go wrong with ordering any of the items on the menu. I always have to get the soup dumplings along with some noodles. The Sichuan beef noodle soup is my go-to. Beef is always super tender and broth is clean deep beefy flavor. What a good and affordable place for Chinese food! Came on a weekday night and it was pretty empty and clean. Staff were pretty fast and attentive with the orders and food. I had the szechuan beef noodle soup - the beef was tender alongside its tasty noodles and savoury broth. The scallion pancakes were solid and crunchy. A solid spot for authentic chinese food at a great price point, but at our most recent visit we were slightly disappointed. We ordered the Noodles in Scallion Oil with Chicken, and the chicken had a funky taste/smell that we could not eat. Im guessing the chicken isn't one of their more popular items and isn't as fresh. The waitress and chef/owner(?) were very kind however and apologized and took it off the check. Other than that we got the Fungus with Pickled Pepper, regular Soup Dumplings, Sichuan Beef Noodle soup, and Sesame Paste Noodles with Minced Pork. The soup dumplings really are the star at this place- they are full of a flavorful broth, the skin isn't too thick, and comes out fresh and hot- one of the best in the area. One of my favorite places to eat. I got the rainbow dumplings as well as the noodles with scallion oil and chicken. Didn't expect much but exceeded my expectations. The noodles were top tier. Came here today for lunch with my friends and we all came out stuffed! When we walked in, we were greeted and sat right away. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful with nice decor and the tables are all set nicely. I tried the chongqing noodles which are the spicy no meat noodles. They tasted really good, the broth was delicious and I really liked the crunchy peanuts in it. I also tried the chicken soup dumplings, this was my first time trying dumplings ever and now I know I've been missing out!! This place was a perfect spot to eat at on a cold day. The food came out fairly quickly even though they seemed busy. I ordered the N1 Chongqing noodles and it was pretty good. It was spicy but not too much. We have tried several things here before and weirdly the item that stands out the most to me is their scallion pancake. I don't normally order scallion pancake finding it over priced and unnecessary. But dannnnnnnng theirs is amazing. Crispy! Tasty! Worth every penny and I think about it often. And then you get into their noodle dishes and other excellent dumplings. this is not my favorite place for soup dumplings but they are okay and their regular pan fried dumplings are excellent. Yu noodles is one of our regular haunts. The "Chicken Leg Noodle Soup" used to be my go to dish here, with the chicken leg being tender like hainanese chicken, but the past 3 times I've ordered it they've used tough chicken breast or chicken thigh. We order Yu noodles frequently, either in person or take out at least once every other week and sometimes more. We like the chicken leg soup and the lamb noodle soup, it usually comes out perfect, but the chef is really heavy handed with the white/black pepper so sometimes the dish is too heavily peppered where your stomach hurts. I tried letting the waitress know one time and she argued with me that it wasn't too peppery. Another time, the male waiter with glasses ignored me. I am rating the chicken leg noodle soup 3 stars for not being as advertised as having chicken leg and being so heavily peppered to the point where I need to water down the dish today. I'm sorely disappointed when I have to make modifications to a dish and play chef on a night when we're ordering out. read more

Yu Noodles is a DMV gem when it comes for Authentic Chinese Dishes. It's a place that offers very quick service and affordable prices for food too compared to other chains or places that offer Chinese food. I got Chongqing Noodles or N1 based on the menu and while the presentation is colorful, it is not relatively spicy at all. I would take my words with a grain of salt because I can't say for anyone else that tries this dish out and thinks differently otherwise. The noodles were plentiful, soup was hearty, and it was just a delight to eat. I also got Pork Soup Dumplings too; which were also great to get. It comes with vinegar so add some in after biting the tip and drinking the delicious broth from the dumpling. It is so savory that I can order two of those and be content with only eating it. The sweet and sour noodles historically can with glass potato noodles - this dish always does everywhere. They must be trying to save cost since what we got was soggy fall apart white noodles. I ordered a spicy beef vermicelli soup with pickled vegetables, and I found a piece of steel wire in my food. I politely informed the server about it, but when it came time to pay, they didn't offer any discount or apology -- instead, the server argued back with me and had a terrible attitude. On top of that, when I asked for a plastic take-out container, they refused to give me one. Honestly, this was a very disappointing experience. Finding something like steel wire in food is a serious safety issue, and the way the staff handled it was completely unprofessional. read more

Last Sunday, our family of five came to Yu Noodles for dinner. It is a small restaurant. If you have a large group you may have to wait longer. We waited for about 30 minutes. Once we were seated, the service was extremely fast. The staff was friendly. We ordered - pork soup dumplings - peppercorn spicy soup dumplings - scallion pancakes - minced pork over rice - spicy wonton - Panfried chive and pork dumplings - Yibin spicy dry noodles - Sichuan spicy noodle soup The peppercorn spicy soup dumplings weren't spicy and not as good as the pork soup dumplings. The portion for Yibin dry noodles was small (see picture). Other than that, we liked the rest of the dishes, especially the Sichuan spicy noodles soup. The portion was good and it had vegetables and lots of beef. My kids enjoyed the crispy scallion pancakes. The price was reasonable. We will come back again to try other dishes soon. read more

Everything came out so quickly, and our server was really nice! The soup was midly spicy, and the dumplings were so soupy and juicy. A great spot for affordable dim sum is located in a place with tons of parking. The service was quick and attentive, with servers bringing out the food at a rapid pace. It's a large space with plenty of seating available, but the tables for two are a bit small and barely fit our three dishes, even with our waiter telling us to put our water pitcher on the table next to us. The yibin spicy dry noodles (n5) were good. The noodles were nice, chewy, and flavorful but I wish they were a little bit spicier. If you don't have great spice tolerance I think you'll still enjoy it! We also ordered the cucumbers with garlic sauce (a7), which were refreshing and crunchy. They were smashed cucumbers and seemed to not have been marinating in the garlic sauce (very fresh), but I prefer it that way. It's one of the only vegetable dishes available, so it was a much-needed reprieve throughout the meal. Lastly, we ordered the pork dumplings which were solid. Yu Noodles has been getting a lot of hype from my high school friends and foodfluencers in NOVA, so my best friend and I went to see if it was worth it. The portions are pretty generous and the price is more than reasonable! I hope that they keep it this way, because I will come back to try more of their menu. While the noodles weren't the best I've ever had, I think the flavor profile is strong enough that it's tasty but not overpowering. This was our first visit. One Asian friend said that the food was spicy, which has kept us away. But, after reading the menu in detail, we decided to give it a try on a blustery fall evening. We were seated immediately and given a carafe of ice water with the table set up and the menus. The wait staff gave us time to decide upon our selections. We ordered the S1 (Scallon pancakes), S3 (Panfried chive and pork dumplings), S4 (Panfried pork bun), hot tea, and one of the Black Sticky Rice with Coconut Milk and Mango. Everything was good. Perhaps a little oily, but still good. Note that in true Chinese fashion, the dishes came when they were ready and not in any particular order (i.e., wait to order desert).
