Health: Each bit of food is hand made to match the exact Korean-Chinese original Korean set. Undoubtably healthier than almost every comparable restaurant. Price: For this quality? Are you kidding? Absolutely outstanding! Experience: Immediate server table service and multiple complicated dishes prepared in 5 minutes. Ambiance was excellent and quiet. And the small "is the table clean" aspects were impeccable. Taste: Genuine original cuisine with a balance of letting the ingredients and seasoning talk over purely saturating with sugar, store made sauce, or salt. Amazing blend, great control. Overall, will visit again. Definitely.

Fly found in Pork Tang Su Yuk

We ordered the tang su yuk and found a fly in the dipping sauce. Gross. Would not trust this place sanitary wise.

Oo another great Korean Chinese spot. Tried the Szechuan tang su yuk and jjajangmyeon. Tangsuyuk was a little over fried and pork a little dry but still good. The sauce wasn't spicy at all and too sweet. The jja jang myeon was good- sweet, savory. A pinch too sweet, but I still liked it. The noodles were excellent. They shock it in ice cold water before packaging (I'm assuming), because they were ice cold. The directions on the box said to run it through hot water before consuming with the sauce. Noodles were noticeably better than other restaurants- perfectly bouncy chewy. The jjajang sauce- the onions are chopped significantly smaller than other restaurants. It made it pleasant to eat. What's unique about this Korean Chinese restaurant is that they offer three combo meals and not just two (ex: jjajang, jjambbong, AND tangsuyuk). Will be back!

We came on a Friday around 7pm and it was pretty busy. Took a few minutes to get sat and for a server to come by. It seemed like only one server for the whole restaurant. Food came out pretty quickly though. I didn't love their tang su yuk sauce, but the pork was good. Husband enjoyed his jja jjang myun/jjam bbong combo, but their gan ja jjang has a better flavor than the normal jja jang myeon. The mil naeng myun was okay.

Best 짬뽕 Jjambong in NOVA! I have been hiding this place but the secret is apparently out so I might as well give them 5 starts. The decor of the restaurant and the service is not 5 stars but you also don't go get jjampong looking for great service. You want an amazing soup to comfort the soul. And now that it is summer, they created a nangmyun jjambong, called Nang Jjambong! Perfect for a summer day.

Caught up with some friends for lunch at this small mom and pop shop. I got the combo set and this was the definition of Korean comfort food. Noodles had a great chewy texture, the soup was spicy and flavorful, and the black bean sauce had a nice rich earthy taste. Great spot for Korean comfort food! Entrees: Jja Jang Myeon (Black Bean Noodles) and Jjam Bbong (Spicy Seafood Noodle Soup)

I was really excited to check this place out since I saw reviews on Instagram, raving about this restaurant. They suggested I order tang su yuk, and jjajangmyeon so I did just that! I went with 2 others, and we figured just the 2 dishes wasn't going to be enough, so we ordered the jjampong as well because we saw an appetizing picture out front! The food came out fairly quickly, like in less than 15 minutes. The food tasted like it had been microwaved to be hot, and not cooked fresh. //Tang su yuk unfortunately came with sauce on it, and made the pork soggy. The pork pieces that didn't have sauce on them, weren't even crispy! It was truly a let down. //Jjampong: tasted like packaged ramen, I couldn't remember which brand of ramen but it tasted just like ramen, no special jjampong flavor. The noodles were cooked to perfection though, and had great bite, great chew. //Fried Dumplings: 2 of 5, they were super "crunchy" and hard. That's how fried dumplings feel once you've fried them, then re fry them again. The dumplings were so hard to eat, one of my friends took a bite and couldn't eat any more as she has sensitive teeth. My niece was really excited to try this place since she doesn't like the Korean place that we usually go to; so we thought we had found a new spot. Guess we are still on the look out.

first time trying jjajangmyeon and jjambbog and it was sooooo good. it was good mix of a sweetish and savory and felt like such a comfort food. also tried tang su yuk, which was the crispy pork and that was cooked so perfectly, usually when i've had it in other places it was too though or too chewy, this was so good especially with the sauce. the service was super quick and friendly, and the ambiance was cozy and comfortable. definitely recommend this place for comfort korean food

Great spot for Korean comfort food! My partner and I decided to check this place out on a cold Saturday night when we were craving something hearty. Upon arrival, the restaurant was clean and quiet, and the service was prompt and courteous. The menu has a lot of images and good descriptions to help you choose your dish. I went with a combination option of jajangmyeon (noodles topped with a thick meat and black bean sauce) and tangsuyuk (pork with sweet and sour sauce). The combination was a really good value - very affordable for the portion that you get. And the food was really good! The flavors were strong but not overpowering and you also get some kimchi and kimchi radish on the side to help cut through any richness. I really enjoyed trying this place and I'm hoping to try more Korean food in the area too!

I visited again for Korean-Chinese lunch after some time, and I noticed a significant improvement in the food quality. The food we ordered was fantastic, and the house-made noodles had a perfect texture. The decor is still a bit dated but remains clean and tidy, and the prices were very reasonable for the portions and quality of each dish.

One of the highlights of the night was meeting the owner, Jason. We bonded over our shared Cantonese backgrounds and even got to meet his aunt, who was visiting from California and happened to be sitting next to us. It made the whole experience feel incredibly welcoming and personal. We ordered the Dynamite Roll, which was a solid choice with 8 generous pieces, and the Szechuan spicy wontons, which were juicy with just the right amount of heat. If you visit, definitely grab a seat at the bar. The bartenders are friendly, engaging, and really add to the experience. We were treated to a complimentary shot of Jäger with Jason and even got to sample their Lychee Pearl cocktail because the bartender had made an extra. The cocktails really stood out. Instead of masking everything with sugary juices, they use extracts and creative techniques to build balanced drinks that complement the flavors beautifully. Jason also mentioned that their cocktail specials change every month, so we already told him we'll be back regularly to see what new creations he comes up with.

Our group of five sampled a great variety from the menu, including the Hot & Numbing Tofu Skin, Crab Roe Soup Dumplings, Cucumber Salad, Lettuce Wraps, Cumin Fish, Stir-Fried Beef Tenderloin, Crispy Pork Ribs with Scallion Crisps and Mixed Grain & Purple Rice, Stir-Fried Beef with Chilies, and Kung Pao Chicken with white rice. The standout for me was the cumin fish. It was fried perfectly--crispy without being greasy--and the cumin added great flavor without overpowering the dish. The crispy pork ribs lived up to their name and had a nice kick of spice. The cucumber salad packed a serious garlic punch, which I really enjoyed. The Hot & Numbing Tofu Skin was something completely different from what I expected. It's sliced into long ribbons that resemble noodles or pasta. The flavor was excellent, although the texture took some getting used to. The only dish that fell a little short was the stir-fried beef tenderloin, which could have used a bit more seasoning. Everything else was delicious. The portions are enormous. At first the prices seemed a little high, but once the food arrived it made perfect sense. Every entrée was easily enough for two meals. One thing to keep in mind is that rice is ordered separately and isn't included with the entrées. Service was excellent throughout our meal. We arrived for lunch and didn't realize they close between lunch and dinner (lunch is served from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.). We ended up staying until about 2:45, and the staff never made us feel rushed even though they had technically closed. They greeted us promptly, took our drink orders, and gave us plenty of time to look over the menu without hovering. The restaurant is tucked away on the ground floor of an office building, so it's easy to drive right past if you aren't looking for it. Parking was plentiful, and the oversized booths comfortably fit all five of us without feeling cramped. If you're dining with a group and want to sample a variety of authentic dishes, Mama Chang is definitely worth the visit.

It arrived still crackling on the plate, tender and packed with smoky, slightly sweet flavor. The tofu shrimp dish was another surprise favorite -- light but comforting, with silky tofu and perfectly cooked shrimp that paired really well together. For something more classic, the chicken and string beans hit the mark. The chicken was juicy, the string beans stayed crisp, and the garlic sauce tied everything together without overpowering the dish. To top it all off, the restaurant brought out dessert for my brother's birthday, which made the night feel extra thoughtful and memorable. But what we did get was pretty darn good (if a bit pricey)! The style is much more authentic, so if you're looking for something like Hunan Cafe (Greenbriar), or that NOVA institution China King, this is different. Is it better? For the most part, yes. (But I still crave that Americanized sweet, spicy, glazey brown sauce that comes in slight variations in so many dishes). I had the hot and sour soup, Szechuan spicy fried eggplant sticks, Taiwanese rice noodles with fried tofu, and the Chengdu twice cooked pork. Everything was excellent, except....the hot and sour soup. Honestly, Hunan Cafe and China King beat the pants off this place's hot and sour soup. Here, it was a bit too sweet. It had some red chilies in it, but I could not detect much white pepper. And it's a vegetarian version, so no small bits of chicken or pork. I'd skip this the next time I order from here. But the other dishes... amazing! The noodles were light-tasting but still delicious. The eggplant was garnished with cilantro, garlic, salt, and red chili sauce. The twice cooked pork was sauteed with sliced leeks and the same red chili sauce. I think that's the fresh, zingy, spice flavor profile I like that can't be found at Americanized Chinese restaurants. Sure, China King has its place and I'll still go back there when I'm close (RIP China King Fair Lakes and Herndon). And admittedly, I go to that awful Panda chain occasionally because I never learn. The unfortunate thing is, I'll more likely go to these places than Cheng's because of the price. The pork dish was $21 and the noodle dish was $19. My total bill came to $60 before tax and tip. If I need to stuff my face with a Chinese umami bomb fast, I'm probably going to the other places for $15-30. I do want to try the rest of the menu at Cheng's, but it's going to be a drawn-out process for the sake of my wallet. I'd be remiss if I didn't include a comment from my dining partner. She compared the quality and taste of the food at Cheng's to Peter Chang's (either Peter Chang's-Herndon, or Mama Chang Fairfax). A high compliment. But she said the value is better at those places' AYCE options than what we got at Cheng's, and I agree. If you've been to none of these places, you have to try them all at least once.
