Spicy Basil Fried Rice

Awesome fresh vegetarian food.. very good service and a wonderful unrushed pace. Cozy, homey ambiance. Quite the surprise gem in a small strip mall location! Do give this place a try.

Hot pepper Fiercely Hot Spicy Pork with Peppers - accept that you can clearly see that I got it clearly plain!! - very delicious!

The food was fantastic! The service through DoorDash was quick too! I ordered the pork with no spice and the garlic spinach and it was absolutely delicious!! This is my first time ordering from here and I would definitely order from here again!! Yummy Chinese food!!

Thai fish (front) and cumin lamb

With 800+ reviews, expected the place to be bustling, but just one other table at arrival. Happy to say, the glowing reviews were spot on - lunch was delish. Got Thai sautéed fish & cumin lamb - two dishes my fam wouldn't normally eat so I indulge when I can. Lamb was tender, not gamey; fish was moist in yummy sauce. The default stir fry veggies tend to be onions & peppers which aren't a top fav; and brown rice is extra cost - otherwise, no other complaints. Come out & give them some love.

Cheng's spring rolls with shrimp and vegetables.

I was planning to attend a jewelry and gem show at the Dulles expo center on the behest of my elderly friend. We decided to eat lunch prior to attending this event. There were so many unique Yelp recommendations in Chantilly but decided to choose Cheng's because it was table service, which would be easier for her. I have no regrets! Cheng's truly has many authentic Chinese dishes on the menu similar to Chinatown NYC. For the less adventurous there are the typical Chinese American dishes and some Thai. We shared the spring rolls, seafood delight handmade noodle soup and Governors chicken (kung pao). The chicken was delicious and not ladened with gloppy sauce. The spring rolls were greaseless and the soup was a generous portion with noodles that had a satisfying chew. The restaurant was inviting and the service was warm and efficient. Water and ice teas were automatically refilled. Though I live almost an hour away, I'm actually contemplating returning with my husband because it was that good!

This place is spectacular - probably one of the most authentic Chinese cuisine in the area. The owners are so nice and very welcoming. They come and greet you and have meaningful conversations with you. They explain everything that you ask and even tell you where they got the fish that day. The fried fish is market price, of course. It ranges from $50-$60 but very worth. It can feed 6 people, if you know how to divvy it up. Very tasty with their homemade marinate. The skin was also crispy as well. Highly recommend this restaurant - try out the fried fish. The restaurant looks very modern with a hint of Chinese decor. It's a very nice place for a casual dinner.

Great authentic Chinese food. Always nice friendly service. Nice place to dine in with plenty of seating available for large or small groups with nice music playing for your enjoyment.

Fried Pork Chops
Sallie W.

Food was great! We got our food to go so the crispy items weren't crispy anymore by the time to eat, but the flavor was there. The fried pork chops were juicy and flavorful. Eggplants were string beans were very yummy, cooked to perfection not too soft. Calamari was soggy, won't get again for carry out. Crispy beef was not crispy and the beef was a bit chewy but the flavor was great. The fried chicken wings were okay, nothing special. The lamb was a bit gamey.

Hot and Sour soup

I have been looking for Chinese food spots that has flavor and variety. We decided to do a takeout: chicken Lo Mein, spring roll and hot and sour soup. Soup was so delicious and fresh, the vegetables and tofu were seasoned to perfection. The Lo Mein was made fresh and every bite Each bite wad an explosion of flavor. Lo Mein had a great mix of noodles, fresh vegetables, and a hearty sauce.

Oily, flavorless, Mongolian Beef.

The Nanjing dalu noodles is a noodle dish with thick gravy-like sauce and diced ingredients including veggies and tofu. My partner and I's favorites were probably the dishes that were closer to what you could find at your standard Chinese takeout spot in the area - the fish filet with tofu (which had a similar flavor to mapo tofu) and the pork in garlic sauce. That's not to say the other food wasn't good, I think we were not particularly used to the cuisine. The service is really nice and efficient. It was my first time trying the Salty Duck, and I liked that it wasn't too salty and had more meat than roast duck. Overall, we all enjoyed our meal. Highly recommend this spot for great food and friendly service!

The owner served us. She was very warm and friendly. I could hear staff in the kitchen speaking Shanghai dialects. The owner Mrs. Sun told us every dish was prepared by Shanghai people, and herself, authentic Shanghai dishes. We ordered 5*soup dumplings: homemade, lots of filling, 8 dumplings in one order. 4*Sauteed Fish Filet Wine Sau: not enough wine sauce. The owner said that some diners always request less sauce and salt, so it was cooked with less sauce, but we are more accustomed to original flavor. She gave us some extra wine sauce. 5*Biscuit Stuffed Pine-Nut with Red Bean Paste: for us, it's a must order dessert. Delicious and not too sweet.

I came because I heard someone rave about the vegetarian dumplings --they were solid. Quite large and filled with mushrooms, onions, green vegetables and seasoning. I ordered the veggie buns as well, but it's the same filling as the dumplings so no need to order both. I enjoyed both. I also ordered the kung pao tofu which was okay. Some of the tofu pieces were fried too hard and made it difficult to chew. The flavor was spot on. I would return and possibly try a different tofu dish, but it appears that they are better with the meat dishes so I'm not sure if it's the most comfortable option for vegetarians. Nevertheless, I liked my experience overall.

We came on a Friday night, and had to wait about 30 minutes for seating. The dining area is basically wooden chairs and tables. Not much ambiance, but that's not why you come here. We ordered scallion pancakes, soup dumplings, eggplant with basil, and noodles with chicken. I never had scallion pancakes. Nothing I would order again. I have nothing to compare, but I assume they're good. The dumplings were fantastic. The eggplant, which comes in three varieties, appeared to be a popular item with other guests. I guess it was good. I'm not a fan of saucy food. The noodles were fantastic. I feel like we ordered wrong, although my girlfriend picked everything except the noodles. This is not a place to visit if you're looking to lose weight. The hard sugar in the eggplant alone was more than I consume in two months. I'm probably not in the best position to rate our dinner as I avoid carbs and sugar. If I were to come back, I'd stick the noodles and revisit the menu to see if there is a solid chicken option. I came here hungry and left hungry as the food was not filling, and the sugar content sent my system into a bit of a shock. Nonetheless, if this cuisine is your thing, you won't be disappointed.

I have to admit the quality has gone down a tiny bit (some of the food's a little dry, slightly smaller portions, namely the scallion pancake duck roll was mostly veggies instead of meat), but it's still a spot I really enjoy going to for some homey food. You can choose between thick and thin for your noodle soups and I honestly like both even tho I usually like thick noodles. Their soups are nice and brothy, not too rich which I like. I've tried most of the food on the menu and it covers the bases for when you're feeling something more light or something more filling.

On a mid-Saturday afternoon, the restaurant was about ¾ full. We started out with the Wonton Soup and the Spicy Wonton soup. The Wonton soup is just okay, but the Spicy Wonton Soup is wonderful and highly recommended. For another appetizer, we ordered the Scallion Pancake. It has a nice dense texture and I really liked it. It would've been even better if it came with a dipping sauce. We also ordered the pickled cabbage. It was good, though lacking seasoning. Our first entrée was ground pork in a delicious sauce accompanied by sprouts and thinly sliced cucumber (or was that zucchini?). Recommended! Our second entrée was a Pan Fried Beef Bun. The beef was flavorful but the bread was kinda dry. Our last entrée was the Beef Wraps. These were great! Who woulda thunk that beef and fresh carrots would go together so well?! Oh, the chili sauce in a jar on the table is extra tasty. At the end, before we got our check, we were given a plate with sliced cucumbers in a light tasty sesame chili sauce. Excellent! But the hot tea was an epic fail. It had no flavor whatsoever. Peeking inside the teapot, all I could see was a micro tiny tea bag floating or sort of sinking. One other thing I kinda don't want to bring up in light of the great food we enjoyed, but need to in the spirit of full disclosure, is to mention that A&J shares space in the building with several other businesses. The restrooms are common to all the businesses. A&J needs to lean hard on the property owner/manager to do a deep cleaning in those restrooms. I'll leave it at that.

I can't comment on the service or ambiance as this food was delivered. The portions were large. I was taken a back since the lo mein and eggplant were lunch portions, and usually you can expect a small serving, but not at this restaurant. Also, the lunch entrees came with a side of soup, which made this an even better deal (both were $13.95). While the food was delivered hot and packaged well, some of the items were great, and some fell flat due to texture issues. I really like the fried crab wontons, lo mein, and hot and sour soup. They hit the spot. I didn't enjoy the Hunan shrimp as the shrimp didn't taste fresh and had an odd texture to it. The eggplant also was overcooked so was somewhat a sloppy, dough like consistency when eating, which was kind of off putting. If returning, I would opt for the lo mein and soup.

The place was filling up and the ambiance reminds me of a traditional bustling noodle house - perfect for the cold snap we were experiencing at the time. We got hot and sour noodle soup, sichuan beef noodle soup, and an order of their pork soup dumplings. Portions are generous and prices are fair, it's easy to become a regular here if you live nearby. The hot and sour noodle soup is as advertised - just enough spice to complement the sour, but not overwhelm to make it feel like mala. It's served, as expected, with glass noodles, some bak choi, and some pork slices. Nothing spectacular but par for the course. The sichuan beef noodle foon soup was slight notch better. The broth gives really warm vibe and you can tell it's been brothing for a long time. Again just the right amount of spicy to make you keep slurping for more. The noodles were average, chewy, but not bouncy. Also comes with a healthy amount beef slices and bak choi. Again - a great noodle soup bowl but nothing jaw dropping. Soup dumplings were fantastic, however. The pork definitely has its own marinade and the soup is flavorful. The dumpling skin is well constructed and complemented well with the noodle soups - especially in cold weather. tldr; solid noodle soup spot, they seem to be consistent and really hits the mark when you're in a for your noodle fix.
