Kimen Ramen is a nice place to eat when you're craving a warm bowl of ramen, especially now with it being colder. The ramen has different broths, where we got spicy and shoyu, very flavorful, and soft noodles that taste really good. The bowls come with a good amount of toppings like chicken, egg, and veggies. The table has chili sauce to add for a spicier kick. Love the decorations and music, and good conversation starters with the anime posters/magazine cutouts. The staff is friendly, and the food comes out quickly. The place is clean and has a simple, relaxed, cozy vibe.
One of the best ramen places in the DMV for sure! I have come here many times! I like that they have the chicken broth option, since I don't eat pork. I ordered the Spicy Kimen Ramen with chicken broth and chicken chasu. It's so delicious! The chicken Karaage was also good! The employees were also so nice and the service was quick! Love the ambience! It feels like we're at a ramen joint somewhere in Japan!
It's a solid ramen place; I like the decor of all the anime panels across the walls. They have a strong izakaya type menu with lots of appetizers, rice bowls, etc. - if that's your jam then this is a strong option. For me I just want ramen, and everything about the spicy bowl just left me wanting more. All the base elements are there but nothing stood out. Broth's a little like, the chashu a bit chewy, noodles a bit too soft. Felt like a jack of all trades, master of none deal. I think it's decent if you're local or already there, but I wouldn't make the trip for it. Honestly I think I'd rather have a chain like Akira or Jinya. Just not my cup of tea.
Kimen Ramen - Fairfax A solid Japanese ramen spot just minutes from GMU -- I usually stop in after class. Cozy little shop with good value (most bowls under $20). I've tried almost everything on the menu. The seafood ramen is flavorful, but peeling shrimp mid-meal takes away from the experience. My go-to is the spicy miso ramen with chicken -- hearty, balanced, and consistently tasty (a strong 4/5). The spicy Kimen ramen is another good option, though I prefer it with chicken over pork. Last time with pork I'd rate it more like 3.5/5 -- still good, but the miso has the edge. Overall, Kimen isn't the best ramen you'll ever have, but it's reliably tasty, filling, and affordable. Definitely worth it if you're nearby or a GMU student looking for a quick ramen fix. Last visited: 9/9/25
The ramen was great! So was the extra broth!! I ordered through Uber Eats, but the food took FOREVER to arrive! That was the only problem. However, I will order from here again at some point.
Tucked into the shopping plaza, Kimen Ramen provided a cozy atmosphere and great food. We tried the chicken karage and gyoza for apps. Both were pretty good! I had the tantanmen for my entree and my husband got the spicy ramen. I think his broth was more flavorful than mine, but I really liked that they didn't up charge for the toppings. The jammy egg was a nice touch. I think I would add more spice next time or switch over to the spicy ramen instead. Parking is ample but seating is limited!
We came here by accident . It's a small restaurant was full of. Sat outdoors . Nice two person table . The waiter not too friendly . Wanted to feel welcomed . We ordered two types of ramen Tintamen and Seafood Ramen. Both were ok .I asked for the condiment .After adding few drops of chili oil and soy sauce the flavor came through . She did come back to check on us . I liked the seafood Ramen more . Good portion of seafood . Flavor was good too .
Great food! I had the kimen ramen and chicken karaage. The kimen ramen alone was more than enough for me. So much food, but delicious! They were generous with their chicken karaage, too. I kinda wished their chicken karaage was crispier, though. Customer service was fantastic! Note, their restaurant is tiny, so you may not be able to fit a large party here. I'd like to come back sometime.
I found this hidden little gem in a shopping center about 30 minutes away from Washington, DC. It's a small cozy restaurant, with cute decorations. The restaurant can accommodate about 20-25 for occupancy. We started out with drinks, it's canned soda with no refills. We started with appetizers the pork gyoza and kimchi (interesting), unfortunately there was no special sauce with it. We all ordered the kimen and miso ramen. The kimen ramen was hot and flavorful especially during the winter season to warm your belly fulls. It was delicious about a 9.0 out of 10. I recommend this place if you are looking for a cute ramen shop to enjoy food!
Chilly night called for ramen and Kimen delivered. Started with the Tako wasabi (octopus); a refreshing appetizer. Then ordered the Tantanmen ramen which was spicier than your typical miso or shoyu based ramen. Compared to other ramen places that give you one, you get two pieces of pork (or chicken) with options to add more on top of the standard toppings. Ambiance similar to small ramen places in Japan; however, they needed a double door as you would get a draft of cold air every time someone opened the door. Prices were on par with other places and service was quick and polite.
A small cute ramen shop with good food. The service was good, lady was kind and was doing her job. The takoyaki here is good and in my top 3 spots. It has a nice crispy outside with 1-2 pieces of octopus inside. I got the spicy Kimen Ramen and it was a good medium spice but i added chilli oil and their extra hot sauce that's on the table. The employee saw me eyeing the hot sauce and she warned me, it is extremely hot and i loved that it was an option (i love spicy spicy). The broth was super flavorful and the egg is always cooked to perfection. A solid ramen shop, with good service, nice and clean inside, with draft sapporo beer.
FOOD I had their shoyu ramen, and it was the perfect comfort food for a chilly evening. The broth was rich in umami, the dish was satisfyingly filling, and the toppings added a great contrast in texture to the noodles. DRINKS They have various alcoholic drinks and soft drinks available for purchase. SERVICE The staff are kind and friendly. AMBIANCE There are about 5-8 tables inside the restaurant for groups of 2-8. A mix of bar and table seating is available. PARKING Ample parking is available in the plaza lot.
A treasure of a place!! Truly delicious ramen!! We recently visited Japan and this place took us back! It is a small place but they have several tables and seating options. Their decor is super fun and captivating. Service is perfect, they are inviting, attentive and polite. I'll say it again, their ramen is amazing! Pork bun is delicious, and I am sure they're other plates are spot on too! Will try the curry next time. 10/10 recommend!
Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Vibe: 3.5/5 This ramen spot it a small, chill spot but definitely a delicious place to eat! The service was excellent; kind, attentive and quick! The ramen I got was amazing. The broth was flavorful and it had a good amount of meat. The vibe was good, but I'm not much of an anime person. It has lots of posters and signs from Japanese culture. But it was clean and nice! I'd for sure go here again. read more
AMBIANCE: Mannn I haven't been to a restaurant with unique character is a long time!! It's a very small spot. Granted I came late so no one was in there but they've made it work. Attached are pictures of how the place is decorated SERVICE: I wonder if who was serving me was the owner. She was amazing! Quick and simple. There is a slight language barrier but I just wanted the food so it was nice. FOOD: Tbh some of the BEST ramen in nova. I pretty much like Jinya for their creamy broth but it IS a bit pricy. I got their "Kimen Ramen" rated number 1 and added spicy chili oil to my liking as well as soy sauce. The broth had depth to it and it was just honestly so good. I'm trying to eat healthy so I don't think I'll have carbs for a long time but I am SOOOO happy to say this was my last hoorah and it was worth it! read more

What I had: Gyoza (fried dumplings) Tantanman Ramen The restaurant itself if fairly small but an adequate size at the same time. I came here for a late night dinner (after 9pm) and I had no issues with seating. The decor is cozy Asian themed. Servers were attentive and we didn't wait excessively long for our food to be ready. The ramen itself was pretty good and a generous portion especially considering the price! Ramen for two + appetizer = ~$50 read more
Pretty good ramen place located in Fairfax ! There's inside seating but it is very limited since the space is not big. The ramens came out pretty fast & I ordered the tantan special ramen. I opted for the pork broth & was super flavorful! I thought it would have been spicer but I had to add extra spice to mine lol Definitely will be back to try some of their other options. read more
ABSOLUTELY love this place and wish I know about then sooner. The restaurant is small and have only a few tables inside and maybw 2 tables outside. We order lots of different food, the karagee, the chicken katsu, different types of ramens, a yuzu highnoon. Everything tasted delicious and such a large portion, I didn't finish mine and was full after 2 chopstick full. Love the Yuzu highnoon, tasted like juice but can also give you a bit of buzz. The tantanmen was amazing! It was perfectly seasoned and nicely presented! You can choose between chicken or pork for all types of ramen! The restaurant is decorated in a very unique place. Overall, I would love to come back here. One of my fav. ramen place in fairfax! read more
Super happy I found this small ramen place. It's a tiny spot tucked away in the corner of the shopping center. We got chicken karage for appetizer. They were making it fresh cuz the chicken was pipping hot and super crunchy. Main dish we got Tantanmen and Spicy Ramen. And WOW highly recommended spicy ramen. The broth was amazing, super smoky, very well seasoning. Definitely worth the money for the portion too. The Tantanmen ramen is good but the broth isn't as good as spicy ramen. Will definitely have to come back and try other dishes. read more
Being the ramen lovers that my husband and I are, I really wanted to love this place as it's closer to home than other ramen shops but it just didn't hit the spot for us. Kimen also has another location in Annandale as well. We started off with the gyoza and adegashi tofu for appetizers and both had the spicy ramen with pork (there was also an option for chicken). The gyoza wrapping was a bit too thick for my liking and the adegashi tofu was tasty. The ramen was mediocre in terms of flavor (the spice overtook the soup and I didn't even add any extra spice) but the toppings were generous. Outside of a handful of appetizers and ramen, they also serve specialty ramens, donburi, curry donburi, and katsu. They also serve alcoholic beverages (beer, sake, soju) as well as a small selection of iced teas and Japanese soda. As we're typically fast eaters and were coming in during lunch, the service was friendly and efficient and all of our food came out quickly. We were in and out within ~30 minutes! read more

Even though the restaurant is kind of small, the decor at this place is pretty cool! The waiter was very polite and provided recs too. The ramen and broth were extremely tasty and flavorful, however I did not think it was that spicy -- though everybody's spice tolerance is different. I also thought the chicken in it was a bit too tough for my liking. I'd recommend this place for a quick sit down meal, especially in cold rainy weather! read more
Really yummy ramen! They have huge amounts of sides, and I was pleasantly surprised. Usually, I have to ration out the pork, but here I was able to enjoy some with every bite. Our waiter was very friendly and checked in at good intervals. He was very quick to get our orders and give us the check. The interior was really cute, with a lot of anime-themed decorations and lighting. It's definitely smaller, but there were still ample amount of seating for everyone. We took the "bar" seats, but a table wait was roughly 15-30 minutes from what the waiter told us. Me and a friend ordered the Shoyu Ramen with chicken, while another friend ordered the Spicy ramen with chicken. We were all very pleased with our orders and would certainly come back again! read more

Good food and good service. The inside was pretty small for a large party. We came in with 11 people and the seating was separated. Usually the manager doesn't allow re-arranging of the tables but did this time to accommodate the large party we had. I got the spicy ramen. The broth was deceiving as it was white (expecting red) but turned out to have a nice kick. The pork chashi was ok - wish there was a little more char and ease of biting/tearing it apart. Overall would recommend. Definitely going to go back to try their Donburi Bowls because those looked good. read more

Thank you for stopping by Harold! We're glad you had an enjoyable…
Very standard ramen and karaage. Came here on a very rainy afternoon so ramen was the perfect meal to warm us up inside. The ambiance is cute, lots of Japanese anime and cultural pictures plaster the walls. The restaurant is small but there are dividers between the tables that make your space feel a bit more private. Service was alright, one server handled the entire FOH and was running around like a madman. We tried the karaage, shoyu ramen, and original ramen. Karaage was a little tough, not super light and airy. It was a very large portion for the price. Neither the shoyu or the original ramen stood out to me. It seemed both needed a lot more flavor in the broth, because they kind of just tasted like the stock used to make them. The chashu, egg, and other toppings weren't anything of note. While options for ramen are somewhat limited in the area, I don't think I will be returning to Kimen. If you really, really want ramen then Kimen will satisfy your craving, but besides that it's not worth going out of your way for. read more

Out exploring with my son, we found Kimen Ramen. The restaurant is small, clean and decorated with anime and Japanese advertisement posters. While we were there the restaurant filled up, and had pick up and door dash orders. The server came a few minutes after seating and we ordered spicy ramen and original ramen with chicken and bok choy. The ramen was ok but I expected the broth to be more flavorful with more noodles and I didn't care for the additional tiered prices for various toppings. It was a nice vibe but the food was just ok. read more

Was in the Fair Lakes area running errands right around lunchtime and needed a place to have lunch. When I venture out of my local area, I take advantage of finding "hole-in-the-wall" non-chain places to eat to branch out and expand my culinary horizons and....to report back - good or bad experience - to my fellow Yelpers. :) Had a hankerin' for ramen as that's a food category that I am always on the hunt for places with solid, delicious and priced-right offerings. Kimen caught my eye as I searched Yelp for close-by places. High ratings, positive reviews, interior pics made the place look quaint, clean and inviting. I can report that, bottom line, Kimen is worth the visit. Granted all I ordered was a single bowl of ramen for 15 bucks. That's it. No drink - just ice water. The bill literally came to $15.80 including tax, before tip. Heads-up - THIS PLACE IS TEEEEEENY TINY INSIDE. I took a vid of the entire inside lol - check it out. Not a negative or show-stopper - but not a place to bring a large party. Not a ton of tables and more 2 tops than 4. Going there solo for a bite to eat is fine - there's a whole counter of single seating along one wall. Full service restaurant but pay at the counter when you're finished. The interior decor is pretty cute - an animated, colorful, whimsied Japanese anime-themed place. Clean and neat. The menu for such a small place is extensive - lots of menu offerings to choose from. I posted ALL the menu pages here so check them out. Service was friendly. Hard to mess up a 1 person, 1 dish order lol. Ramen came out without much wait. The place around 1230PM was not busy but had a decent number of customers chowing down. Good to see. As I said, I was focused in what I ordered - just a single bowl of Pork Miso Ramen sans the seasoned egg and nori. $15. Portion size was "just okay." Not as much food/noodles as I had expected but not a showstopper. The amount of pork slices was decent - thick, slightly fatty, tender. No issues. The noodles were cooked perfectly al dente chewy-just-right. THE RAMEN BROTH LEFT SOMETHING TO BE DESIRED THOUGH. I was disappointed that the broth was thin and not as deeply flavorful as good solid ramen should be. The flavor of the broth can make or break the dish - and in the case of Kimen's ramen, the broth was a detractor. Not a deal breaker but disappointing. Buttttttttttt SOMETHING THAT CAN EASILY BE FIXED.... Would I come here again? Sure, I might - if I'm in the area. I would be open to coming back and trying some other Japanese classic menu items. I'll report back here ofc if I do. read more

Ramen always hits the spot! This has become our go-to local spot for this part of Northern Virginia. It's small and cozy, reminiscent of the hole in the wall ramen shops I used to frequent when I lived in Japan. The broth has a great, unadulterated flavor. This place isn't trying to be cute with the food. They are serving ramen as it is intended. And for your friends who aren't feeling like a bowl, the curry and other sides are yummy too! read more

Casual spot that always delivers a good experience. Wide variety of menu options, including a range of meats and spices. The miso soup served with donburi is a great niche feature. Never been disappointed by the chicken katsu donburi - always flavorful, rich, and hearty. read more
I dined at Kimen Ramen on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at 1 pm. First impressions upon walking in the restaurant, I really admired the collage of Japanese and anime posters on the walls. If you're lucky enough to be seated at a table next to the wall, it could keep you preoccupied to admire the wall as you wait for your food. The dining room was smallish, but did not feel cramped as the tables were adequately spaced apart. As far as food goes, I was pretty satisfied. I ordered the spicy ramen. I am a huge ramen-lover myself and my ramen bowl checked all the boxes that a proper restaurant-quality ramen should have: 1) developed, balanced, and flavorful broth; 2) freshly cooked noodles; and 3) fresh ingredients. The proportions of noodles, meat, and broth was perfect. I thought the spice level was good - not too spicy or overwhelming. My spice tolerance is average, so those that can eat really spicy should expect the spicy ramen to be pretty low in spice level. I'm sure you can ask to make it more spicy. The takoyaki octopus ball was a great appetizer if you like savory fried balls with generously sized octopus inside. Service was excellent. The server was friendly and attentive to refill waters on several occasions. The food was brought out together and in reasonable time. Overall, I thought it was a memorable dining experience. I'll definitely return to try their other ramen options and non-ramen dishes. read more
