Cute tucked away Japanese spot. Nestled away in near the Dunn lorring metro is this cute spot. There is a paid parking deck right next to it, if you can't find street parking. You can also park in some of the garages that offer 2 hour store parking (not specific for this store), though you do need to push the button to start the 2 hour clock or the will tow your car. (Or at least that's is what the papers on all the meters were stating. It does have some indoor seating and a really cool water dispensing machine. Produces nice, fresh, crisp water. I had salmon sushi and then salmon avocado roll to-go which was delicious. Their bento boxes and other lunch specials look like a pretty good deal. I absolutely love salmon though!

A well priced place with a lot of choices of very average Japanese food. They have sushi, ramen, udon, temaki and more. The food taste ok and is inexpensive. So definitely a decent hang out place. Decor is fine but no large tables beyond like party of 6. Mostly self-service but the staff is nice. Sapporo - well priced for 22oz for $11 Japoramen - the pork belly is too chopped and the broth taste ok though not sophisticated with ok ramen Spicy salmon temaki - this is very average and could not really recommend unless you have some serious craving to fill

I always try to visit new Ramen restaurants around the DMV. Found out they just opened near me so I decided to have late lunch here. This place used to be Moby Dick if I remember correctly. The store looks clean and has a lot of tables so that is good. You can order at the counter or the Kiosk. I decided to order at the counter since the couple at the Kiosk is taking their time looking at the menu. I saw they have fried Octopus but was told they sold out for the day so I ordered the fried calamari and the Wagyu Ramen. Sat at a table and waited for my food to come out. Since it wasn't busy my food came out pretty quickly. The spicy dip sauce for the calamari is very good. The Ramen is pretty good. The Wagyu is medium rare which is how I like my meats cooked. Overall, the food is good and the service is great. I will be back next time to try their sushi.

I don't normally get to eat ramen bowls. When I heard this place had halal options, I wanted to go and try it out, because there are few Japanese places that do and I appreciate the accommodation. So I drove out quite a bit to experiment. I was excited that I could try a ramen bowl here and was not disappointed. I got the spicy halal chicken. First off, the broth was tasty- often I order spicy food at places that serve a diverse customer base, and it's not spicy, but here it actually was, but not overpoweringly so. It was very delicious. The chicken was sweet, it was a nice treat. The egg yolk was soft, it was a nice surprise in the bowl. The vegetables were good. It wasn't too noodle heavy, which could be bad if you're very hungry, but for me it was good because too much noodles makes me sleepy. Also there was a good helping of chicken/protein. There is a diverse menu here, and I am excited to try out more options (although I am also craving the ramen bowl again.) The decor was unique but relaxing, the music was a tasteful selection of anime openings (and possibly other songs). Service was nice. All in all, great experience!

Had a very delicious experience here. I loved the food and the sauces. The menu is big so it's better to go to the kiosk but the staff is very friendly! Here's what i had: Bao Bun (pork) very good with tasty slaw Cream Cheese Crab- my kids loved this it'd very flavorful Tako-karage- fried octopus...the white sauce with this was amazing though but it still was good on its own. Seafood Ramen- broth (miso) was good but the seafood side left a lot to be desired. In a seafood it had 2 shrimp. It left more to be desired the shrimp were overcooked and i couldn't add extra. Wanted more seafood than that. Halal Lamb Ramen- the lamb was good.. the ginger however was a bit overpowering so next time I'll order without that. Still delicious nonetheless, my husband loved the lamb very well cooked. Let's get into these rolls Salmon Avocado Roll- The avocado was big didn't taste the salmon as much. Probably was my least favorite roll. Still fresh but compared to the other orders came up short. Surf & Turf Roll (8pc)- husband loved this it was wagyu beef and shrimp tempura it was such a flavorful blend. I wouldn't have expected it. Shrimp Lover Roll (8pc) this was fire with extra spicy mayo on the side it was so so good! The Spicey mayo had sweet undertones and this was hands down my second favorite. Salmon Lover Roll - i could eat this all day i love salmon and this was made to perfection it was fresh and light it had some yummy eel sauce. My favorite roll of the day. Japomen Roll pleasant surprise and had salmon as well which is i love. All that to say i would most certainly be returning. The fusion between Japanese sushi and ramen and halal i would have never envisioned but it's truly a match made in heaven!

Fantastic - HALAL Japanese Ramen & Sushi place. Family run lead by Chef Peter, his team Jason & Justin, you will get great tasting fresh delicious food. Highly recommend it. We had the 47 piece sushi panter, chicken ramen noodles, Chicken Teriyaki bento box, edamame & Spring rolls. All deliciously fresh! Highly recommend it.

This place is cute, definitely a warm and inviting spot on a chilly night. My mini and I walked in and were greeted immediately... all customers were greeted as soon as they entered the establishment which I truly do appreciate. The restaurant is small but spacious enough to fit at least ten families of two or more. While we dined the restaurant filled up which is nice. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The hot saki was so good!!! The sushi is "okay", fresh, and definitely over priced in my opinion (not a sushi connoisseur but we eat a lot of sushi all over the DMV). The ramen was delicious, great broths. Another attribute I appreciate with this restaurant is presentation of the plates. This review is my opinion so I welcome you to visit and experience the restaurant and cuisine, I think you will be surprised. This will be our "comfy ramen spot" and if we have a taste for sushi, we'll get a roll or two. The restrooms were decent.

    Pork belly bao buns

I went with a small group for dinner and restaurant was easy to find but parking was a little tricky. There are some street parking in front of restaurant but most in parking garages. The first and second levels parking are not connected. The restaurant is on a strip with other businesses such as District Taco, Kiin Imm Thai, Rice Culture. There's a menu stand in front of restaurant, 2 kiosk menu on right side and a very large overhead menu. There are some interior decors all around and interior seatings too. All staff are friendly and patient. The cashier Peter was great who was knowledgeable and attentive. We ordered 6 items: 1) Pork belly bao bun 2) Pork katsu and curry 3) Handroll sampler A 4) Kimchi ramen 5) Kimchi and spam onirigi 6) Beef onirigi. The bao buns had five protein and one vegetarian to choose from but you don't have the option to mix match as I was told. Once you placed your order, it will be hand deliver to your table. So I ordered the pork bao buns. They were delicious and the buns were airy and fresh. The katsu and curry has two protein selections (pork and chicken) which we order one of each. When it arrive to the table, the presentation of the plate was pretty. The curry itself was very flavorful, smooth and aromatic. The pork katsu remain its crispiness and had the right amount of sauce that was drizzle on top, served with rice, garnished with an orchid. The kimchi ramen was topped with pork belly, crispy tofu strips, onions, egg, green onions. Everything incorporated well except the broth which was a little salty. We were excited for the onirigi with ten protein selections but unfortunately it fell flat for us. The rice was perfect, it was fluffy and tasty but the filling wasn't much in it. The portion of the rice 90% and 10% was the selected protein. I also ordered the handroll sampler which I asked what was difference between A and B. Let me tell you, this item is a must get! The sampler comes with 3 perfectly portioned crispy eel, truffle salmon and spicy toro with truffle. The difference with B is the fresh crab meat instead of toro. Those were the best three, one biter I ever tasted! With each in its own category, they all had unique flavors that will make your palate jumping for joy. I will definitely get that sampler again as I am still salvaging from it .. lol. We will definitely make a return visit to try more dishes.

New place in Avenir place! So Yummy! Great service & affordable! they also have 3 other locations but I believe this is their first stand alone place for them.

Lamb ramen, spicy halal chicken ramen, wagyu ramen

Very good ramen. We tried the lamb ramen, spicy chicken ramen, and wagyu ramen. They each had different flavor profiles but were still delicious. It was nice that they had halal options (the chicken and the lamb) as well as gluten free dairy free options. The spicy chicken ramen smelled and looked really spicy, but was not that spicy, which I appreciated. Also appreciated the large portion sizes, but note that it appeared small at first because of the bowl size. Inside was clean with ample seating. Staff was very nice and respectful. No complaints, highly recommend.

My adventurous eater and I tried out Sushi Koji after rugby yesterday. It was a real treat. Our…read moreserver was very helpful in helping us decide what to get, and we thought we would try sashimi (after reading reviews about the place) as well as noodles. Fellow Yelpers did not steer us wrong! We ordered Otoro (fatty tuna) and sake belly (salmon belly) sashimi, listed as 3 pieces each. We also ordered tempura udon, a shrimp tempura roll*, takoyaki, and mentaiko butter udon (off the specials menu). Let me begin by saying the space is clean, roomy, and well-decorated. We enjoyed looking at the artwork and figurines, which included anime figures that we recognized. There were many tables, and though they may be physically close together, there is enough separation to be comfortable without being on top of each other or feeling cramped. There was a family of five that was seated next to us partway through the meal, and I never felt like the noise level changed or that we suddenly felt as if there were more people around. The takoyaki came out covered in bonito flakes. The sauce was a perfect blend of tempered spicy mayo as my adventurous eater enjoyed it without being overwhelmed by heat. The bites were well-sized as not to be too large, but we were able to bite in without burning our tongues our with the right balance of batter and octopus, and we both enjoyed it greatly. The sashimi came out with the shrimp tempura roll on a beautifully arranged boat - 4 pieces each! We each tried two pieces of otoro and sake belly, and the pieces just melted into our mouth. The otoro was garnished with what appeared to be hint of wasabi and maybe chopped jalapeño, which was too much for my adventurous eater to try, so I gently scraped it off. Neither of us were able to taste anything but the well-chosen slices of fatty tuna, which were a hit. We then tried the sake belly which were garnished with a sliver of fried garlic and garlic paste. Again, I scraped it off for the adventurous eater, who then raved about how delicious it was! I tried it with the garlic and agreed. The garlic was perfectly fried, and was the right amount not to overwhelm the delicate buttery texture and flavor of the salmon belly. Although, I will admit - while it's a nice flavor to add, the sashimi itself didn't need anything to be added. The tempura udon came out, with perfectly battered pieces - 2 shrimp, an asparagus, an onion ring, a slice of sweet potato, and a slice of eggplant. My adventurous eater attacked the shrimp while I munched on veggies. The batter was crispy, light, and not greasy. My mentaiko butter udon came out and I am so glad I ordered it! There was a little nest of noodles, with two halves of a soft-boiled egg, and plenty of creamy sauce. The menu described the dish as buttery and umami and it did not deceive. The udon was perfectly chewy and slurpable, coated with delicious creamy sauce. I debating mixing in the eggs because they looked so perfect, so I dipped one half in the sauce instead and ate that whole, before mixing in the other half into my bowl. Even my adventurous eater tried a little bit of my udon and agreed that it was delicious! Not having had mentaiko butter before, I looked it up before writing this review. The dish is described as being a spicy-fish roe butter sauce, but what we are talking about is a very mild heat. The dish was warming, tasty, and very comforting. It was also surprisingly light considering the buttery richness of the flavors. I finished every last bit of the noodles in my bowl and drank the rest of the sauce, with all the fish roe stirred in. I may have also commented a couple of times on how phenomenal the dish was. That was when our server shared that it was the first day it had been on the menu, so they were looking for feedback. I would say that the dish alone is worth checking out, but I feel like you will keep coming back due to the quality of everything else. I think this place is a gem and I will definitely look for excuses to return to Oakton to eat there again. Between the friendly service, the cheerful ambiance, and the amazing food, this is hitting all the right notes! * My adventurous eater filled up on everything else before even getting to the shrimp tempura roll, so we ended up packing up the rest of the udon and the shrimp tempura roll to bring home. Due to life, the roll never made it into the fridge, so we tragically had to toss it without trying it. I wish I could tell you how it was, but I can say the roll was beautifully formed and served and looked absolutely delicious. This is where I wish I had taken pictures of everything.

I initially thought it would be mostly rolls, but it leaned more toward nigiri. That said, everything was super fresh and really well prepared, so no complaints there. I recently started eating seafood again after years of avoiding it, so I have been easing into it, and this was actually a really good place to do that. The fish tasted fresh, clean, and not overly fishy, which made it a lot easier to enjoy. The Osaka roll, which our server recommended, was really good, but my favorite was definitely the paradise roll from the sushi boat. Anything with shrimp tempura is a win for me, and this one hit the spot. The ambiance is cute, cozy, and on the smaller side, which made the whole experience feel more quiet and intimate. It did not feel rushed at all, which I appreciated, especially since we were breaking our fast. We ended up taking a lot of food to go because the portions were so generous, and surprisingly, everything still tasted fresh and delicious even the next two days. The only downside is that it is definitely on the pricier side, but the quality, portions, and overall experience helped justify it. Overall, great quality sushi, generous portions, and a calm, intimate vibe. Definitely a spot I would come back to, especially if I am in the mood for fresh sushi without a loud or hectic atmosphere.

Avocado in every single roll, so basically they were all horrible. What kind of sushi place would add unripe avocados to their rolls? It's not like avocados are cheap, those little f***ers are a big reason why sushi is expensive, I would hope they are at least edible. I am so angry I just spent so much money for not even ONE roll to be edible, and not just the money, took them close to 40 minutes to get here, now everything else is closed and we are stuck with this. I've never been to the actual location, so I can't speak on the ambiance, but I image they are just as careless. Quality of the ingredients wasn't good, carelessness to use unripe avocados, and just the fact that I spent so much to eat nothing, really upset me. I'm just very disappointed, won't be ordering from this place again. Not sure how they have so many locations. Please work on the quality. We'll see what they do with their customer service...

I opted for the Steak teriyaki bento box with came with steak (medium rare) teriyaki, rice, 3 tempura shrimp, 2 tempura veg, 3 cali rolls, 3 gyozas, miso soup & salad for about $22.00. The miso soup was good but the salad was avg. The dressing got really watery. The gyozas & Cali rolls were fair but generous servings of tempura were outstanding! Crisp & hot. Even after 10 mins. Not oily or greasy. The rice was cooked properly. The only misstep was the steak. The steak was also cooked properly at medium rare & looked beautiful. The inside was nice and pink. But upon chewing, the steak was not tender at all. Very very chewy. When you were young, you were taught fo chew at least 30 times. Well, this exceeded the recommended amount of chewing. But if you feel like you want artistic style and refined food,or just want to celebrate yourself, this one s the place to indulge and enjoy!

Now...I'm not sure if I was supposed to wait a certain amount of time before I ate after a cleaning...but I didn't! lol. I was so hungry and was in the mood for sushi. Being a big foodie as I am I love finding new restaurants to try and this was did not disappoint! Parking was easy they had some right in the front of the restaurant reserved for customers as well as a garage for more parking spaces if it got crowded. Walking inside it is a small cozy space and because I was by myself I was seated at the sushi bar. I told the sushi maker my food order and the waitress my order for wine. I tried the Merlot and Pinot noir which the merlot was so luscious I got another glass. So my order was fries shrimp shumai, Ile yellowtail combo which came with a yellow tail sashimi, spicy yellow tail roll I added cream cheese, and yellowtail nigiri. So fresh and so pretty how it came out! Aesthetically pleasing top notch! They gave me a few freebies seaweed salad and edamame and a side dish of pickled condiments very tasty. So being the big back that I am I ordered more to go and it was the Ile salmon combo and substituted spicy salmon roll with spicy tuna roll add cream cheese. I really loved how they package the to go order kept my sushi fresh until it the next day. I will definitely stop here again after the dentist...lol.
