This place is great, the udon was amazing and same with the Katsu. I live in Japan and I'll say this is quite close in taste to what I eat over here in Tokyo. First impressions are everything. We arrived at 5:15 PM on a Sunday and asked for a table for eight, only to be met with stunned looks from the staff--as if our request was unreasonable. The restaurant was nearly empty, with just one occupied table in the back. Would be nice to have options to add toppings or just have more toppings. However, it's better than most ramen places these days that gives you a bare bones bowl of ramen and expect you to add toppings to a $15-$20+ bowl of ramen. The upgraded chirashi had a nice mix of sliced fish; although the tuna didn't taste especially fresh. I ordered Bento Box C (includes: 6-piece California roll, shrimp and vegi tempura, bulgogi (other choices are beef or salmon teriyaki), rice and a miso soup and small salad appetizer). ($18) The Bento Box was very good. A nice variety of things to try, with plenty to eat. The tempura coating was light and the flavor of the shrimp, green bean and sweet potato came through well, the bulgogi had a nice flavor and the miso soup was good. The small salad could have used more dressing and the California roll was fine - not great. Service was very good. Water glass was kept full (I drink a lot of water) and the wait staff handled the 7-checks at the end of the meal promptly and without complaint. For starters, we ordered Chicken Karaage which was juicy and delicious and Edamame, which I doubt anyone can go wrong with. We had a large party of 8 to 10 people so we were able to get seated in the back room with privacy. The service is fast and friendly. Their tempuras are great especially the shrimp! We ordered the sushi sashimi combo butit comes on a LONGGG heavy board. It's great bc the table can reach exactly the same things on each ends. we absolutely LOVE this place...so much so that we drive a good 35 minutes (or 1 hour roundtrip) to get carryout. So if you haven't tried them yet...RUN and try it today! First, they are a local owned small business. Second, they have the best quality sushi for a decent price! We have done takeout several times during the pandemic and are kind of sushi snobs...and I think they may have the best quality in the DMV (we like them more than Yuraku in Maryland). Nice restaurant in Fairfax next to Aldi. I've been here a few times and never noticed the hidden gems in the menu. I always got the dinner Bento Box sets (B and D are my favorites) but this time i saw the Udon and Chirashi set. You get a big bowl of delicious udon that has two pieces of fried tofu skin, fish cake, mushroom, half an egg, topped with seaweed and scallions. The other half of the meal is a mini chirashi with about 6 or 7 pieces of fresh sashimi topped with seaweed, sprouts, and a small piece of lotus root which was really yummy. read more

Came here on a Monday night at around 6:30. There were about about 2 tables when we arrived. We were greeted by the chefs (I couldn't exactly tell what they said because it was in Japanese but I know it meant something along the lines of "welcome") then the servers prompted us to our seats and took our order. We were given a complimentary small dish of edamame and fried cream cheese I think and our food came out pretty quick as well. We ordered age dashi tofu to start with along with a sushi&sashimi combo, salmon combo, and tempura udon as our meal. Everything tasted great especially the tempura udon. The broth was exceptional! However, I didn't really like the spicy salmon hand roll. It wasn't like the typical spicy mayo flavor, it was more of a korean red pepper paste flavor. Have been coming here for 2 years. I live in Reston and will drive there just for the sushi. The thing I like about it is their slices of sushi are thicker than normal restaurants and their rice is smaller. Which means you get a good taste of the fish which is great. Many places create a huge rice ball and thin fish and think you won't notice. Really? Service is good and noise level is minimal. I had a great experience ordering take out from here last night. I got to the sushi stall in H Mart ten minutes too late, but I still wanted sushi. I remembered Arigato near Walmart, which wasn't far. I called in the order around 8:10 on a Saturday night and they said it'd be ready in 20-25 minutes. This is much faster than other popular sushi places in the area. The order was ready on time! The place is pretty nicely decorated inside, but you still definitely feel like you're in a strip mall. I ordered the sushi and sashimi platter ($30), octopus nigiri, and salmon/avocado hand roll. It came with one salad and one soup. I was a little worried it might not be enough for two, but it definitely was! Not bad for a total order of $41. The platter was great! The yellowtail had to be my favorite. The California roll has roe on it--delicious! There was also salmon, tuna, and shrimp. They didn't skimp on the good stuff! There were three pieces of yellowtail, tuna, salmon sashimi. I've been to Arigato Sushi numerous times and it's one of those places that one goes to when they're too lazy to think of a better place. It's not terrible, but it's nothing to write home about either. Located in the Walmart shopping center in Fairfax, Arigato offers ample seating. To begin with, they serve complimentary edamame and dangerously delicious cream cheese puffs. Just like any other place, they were attentive enough to top off our hot teas throughout our visit. We ordered a few sushi rolls, but none stood out enough for me to remember their names. They were alright, but I have had better. The service is meh. The waitresses are attentive enough, but I don't recall ever seeing a smile. Most likely I will be back for another lazy unpretentious evening, but that's about it. read more

I have always loved this place, but today I got the worst shrimp fried rice I have ever purchased. I paid extra for more shrimp but there were 7 total (all with tails?!?). The dish was dry and contained noodles for some reason. I called to complain and they were indifferent. No excuse, no refund, just a weak "I am sorry" which is a pathetic response.
