good prices, sophisticated interior, and the most friendly staff. I love stopping by for their avocado and sweet potato rolls.

Sushi boat order

Great hidden Sushi restaurant in Fairfax. It is near a movie theater, too. We ordered the sushi boat combo #2. For appetizers, we got dumplings and cucumber salad. The price of our entire meal was pretty fair. We will definitely be coming back for sure.

Yamachen offers a fairly simple menu with straightforward prices. The ambiance is so cute! What I enjoyed, the different combo deals. It makes it easy to select options and try two rolls for a reasonable price. We tried the shrimp tempura app and it was yummy! The complimentary edamame was also a great way to start the meal. The sushi is ok- I wouldn't say it's the best sushi but the flavors were good. For budget sushi, this is a great place. Loved the service, food, and price.

Overpriced, sub par quality and portions. Undercooked and underwhelming. Mixing raw with hot food.

Roll combo: rainbow roll, Eel Roll

I've been here a few times, and I love how affordable it is. They give you so much extra on the side, including edamame, spring rolls, and cheesecake. Service is quick, and I love the decor in this place. It makes each booth feel really private.

2 cheesecake samples on the house

We came here for Valentine's this year with a reservation. We had to wait 6-7 minutes to be seated even with a reservation. We ordered 2 rolls, some sashimi, and a bowl of ramen. It took about 30-40 minutes for the food to come out. I'm not sure why because it wasn't too crowded since all parties there were couples (no big groups). The rolls were good, but the sashimi were subpar, not as fresh as other sushi places I've been to, and some were a bit watery like it had just thawed after being frozen. They also don't have nigiri options. The ramen was not very good. The broth was bland and lacked that rich pork broth flavor. At the end of the meal, the server gave us 2 cheesecake samples, a rose, and a decorative plaque that lights up with their restaurant name on it, which was sweet of them. Overall, the food was subpar and I would not return.

I came here for Valentine's dinner, and the service was spectacular! We ordered 3 rolls, and they served us strawberry cheesecake for dessert, and gifted us a 3D love heart lamp and a rose! While eating, I overheard them agree to help another man surprise his significant other with roses and balloons when they brought out their order! They are doing the most for Valentine's Day and I'm here for it!

Nice presentation - rainbow, dragon and spicy salmon rolls

Service was friendly and swift (we were there for a rather late Saturday lunch, and alone in the restaurant). The sushi was presented in a particularly attractive fashion. However, the sushi was disappointing. Again, I like these folks... but am not a big fan of the food.

Came here on a Friday night and there was plenty of seating. We were instantly greeted and sat upon arrival. The waitress was very attentive and kind. Their food selection was great, they had many options. We ordered one of their specials, which included multiple courses. The fried rolls, dumplings, and sushi rolls were delicious! We had no complaints! Although this is a smaller restaurant they really surprised me with how detail oriented they were and the overall ambiance. Can't wait to revisit!

Fresh Veggie Spring Roll

This restaurant is SO under rated. We went in for Lunch on a Saturday and the prices were so good for how much food you receive. They even gave us some free appetizers and desserts to try since we hadn't been in before. The service was AMAZING and our server was so attentive and kind. The inside of the restaurant is very cute and they give you these cute little chopstick sets with napkins and even a QR code to their menu. This is great for a lunch with friends or dinner. Would highly recommend the spring rolls I have NEVER had any so fresh and delicious. I eat a lot of Asian food and this place really does a great job balancing quality and price.

Side note.. I love this shopping center. It's a really great way to spend a couple of kid free hours. A Marshall's, Ulta, DSW and the largest Hallmark store. Yes! Back to the sushi. Holy hygiene, this place is spotless and so clean. They give you your utensils in an unopened package which is a great touch. Service is impeccable, they are so nice, quick and just overall amazing. They bring you edamame as soon as you sit down. Sushi was great (zero complaints). The real star of my lunch was the 2 free spring rolls they bought to my table. They were so crunchy and the filling was delicious. They also finished the meal with a little baby cheesecake for free

Pork Katsu, Eel Roll, Beef Yakisoba, Veggie Sushi,
Monica M.

We ordered take out and our meal was neat and nicely packaged! The beef yakisoba was filling and flavorful, the spicy pork katsu was good, but we didn't taste the spice, and the sushi rolls were nice flavorful bites. Our meal came with edamame and some fried veggie rolls on the house!

This place is a fantastic spot for a date night for three solid reasons. 1- great location and good parking available next to a CVS and 7-11. Why are these good you ask, because if you're clever you can extend a date night into more 2- the food is amazing and the restaurant is clean. The service is what to be expected but the chef has a menu of what he recommends 3- if you're on a date they have great seating along the wall that offers privacy and also keeps people from listening in so you can have a good conversation without noisy people to close. I take my wife here for our date nights and we always leave happy.

Food: menu has a decent selection ranging from bento boxes, ramen, to sushi so a little bit of everything for everyone. I ordered the spicy dynamite roll & one of the sushi assortment entrees. Spicy dynamite was pretty crispy and very large sushi pieces which I was not expecting lol after a while the only thing I tasted was the cream cheese so I do wish it was less cream cheese here. Sushi assortments were awesome! One of the freshest sushi as of yet. Definitely recommend.

Probably a max of 20-24 customers at a time and it was very intimate. Like many of the restaurant stalls in Japan. It was very cultural and the staff spoke Japanese. The service was amazing as there were on their toes to make sure we were happy. There was no designated waiter/waitress, the team work was perfect. The food was made to perfect and the freshness of the uni and salmon were as if they were fishing it from the back door. We ordered some miso soup, fried squid, salmon nigiri and sashimi, uni, salmon belly nigiri and of course a couple of classic beers. Salmon nigiri and sashimi was generously cut and amazingly fresh. With the temperature perfectly chilled to it melting in your mouth, it was as if we were in Japan. The Uni was even more amazing!! Properly chilled and the creamy texture was beyond perfect. Salmon belly nigiri was succulent and writing this review makes me want to take that 2 hr commute for another round. I forgot to mention the fried squid/calimari. Not many will understand this but the tempura batter was perfectly dipped and the tender texture was amazing. It was not out of a bag, it was freshly cut, battered, and fried there. It was an amazing experience and we will be back for more excitement.

Take out | menu size | chicken…read more Take Out: This is a reliable take-out spot first and foremost. Ordering is straightforward, pickup is smooth, and the food travels well. It's the kind of place built for convenience -- quick in-and-out, well packed, and still hot by the time you get home. Ideal for weeknight dinners when cooking isn't happening and you want something dependable without a long wait. Menu Size: The menu is extensive -- classic, old-school Chinese takeout style with plenty of combination plates, lunch specials, and chef's specialties. Lots of variety across chicken, beef, pork, seafood, and vegetable dishes, plus the usual appetizers and sides. Good option for groups or families with mixed preferences because everyone can find something familiar. Chicken: The chicken dishes are the highlight. Portions are solid, and the chicken is tender with good breading-to-meat balance in the fried options. Sauced dishes are well coated without being overly heavy, and the flavors come through clearly rather than tasting generic. Whether you go sweet, savory, or spicy, the chicken plates are consistently satisfying and feel like the safest bet on the menu.

My mother and I, planning a family get together, wanted to scope out different restaurants. The…read moreservice was good and our waitress was wonderful, shy but attentive. The ambiance was friendly and relaxed, a little too bright for our tastes but overall good. Food was the issue. TLDR Mildew/mold in the fridge affecting taste of refrigerated items ie: salads, egg/fish eggs, fried items. They apologized and gave us a discount. We were excited as we dont usually branch out sushi wise and we were disappointed. The water was pretty chlorinated which is fine (most people dont notice it) but there was a subtle unpleasant aftertaste to it. No big deal I didn't come for the water. I came hungry, trying a handful of nigiris to taste the quality of the fish. They were what I expected for the price, midrange and totally acceptable. The salmon was a bit soft but the tuna was uniform (which I appreciate). I disagree with reviews saying the fish was too thin (its AYCE just get more) and that it was "tasteless" because it wasnt. When I got to trying the tobico however, I noticed that same taste amplified, entirely overwhelming the taste of the tobico. I spit it out and moved on, ordering the massago to see if it was just that dish and it wasnt. We tried a fried roll and there was that taste again. The seaweed salad was by far the worst offender. After discussing it, the cause was clear. Heavy mildew buildup (at the least which isnt uncommon) or mold in their fridge (at worst). We are the last people to ask for a manager but it was bad enough to say something about because it put us off the rest of the food. we were hoping we had come near the end of a clean cycle and asked if there was a better time to come but we didn't get a clear answer. We also own a restaurant and understand not everything can be the absolute freshest, when its busy sometimes you miss things, and also understand it might not even be their fault. That strip (of stores) is OLD and it could be a problem with the strips pipes.
