One of the best sushi place in town! I've been to this place for numerous times now, and would always go back for their nigiris and house rolls. My personal fave is their salmon nigiri and Fortune House Roll. Their rainbow roll is amazing too! The cuts of the fish are huge and a good proportion to the rice. Salmon literally just melts in your mouth! I love most of the appetizers, esp their karaage (ika and chicken), miso soup, gyoza and soft shell crab. The chefs are super friendly and accommodating, and one time, they even gave me nigiris on the house (probably because I was loving the food too obvious!). There were a lot of items on the menu which I had never seen before and I wanted to keep my dinner meal simple, so I ordered the spicey California roll platter. One of my friends ordered the tuna rolls which was also appealing. They also offer other types of Chinese food as well, and I was almost tempted to get beef and broccoli. The tempura order came out first, and within minutes the staff rushed us to clear the plates to make room for the sushi. The sushi didn't come out for another 20 minutes. I decided to try this place out again because it had been years. I ordered 3 different rolls for take out: 1. Spicy Yellowfin Roll 2. Philly Roll 3. Alaska Roll The salmon was not fresh - there were pieces that felt chewier than others. The Spicy Yellowfin was not spicy and was thrown on top the rolls very messily, it made my order look unappetizing. The rolls themselves were rolled sloppy, and didn't hold together well. My husband went to pick up my order and said that there was a bit of commotion between the workers there. I wonder if that's why my meal came out as poorly as it did. read more

The best sushi in the area. I absolutely love this restaurant. What a pleasure to return and have tuna, and also spiced up salmon. The shrimp rolls are full of flavor. Is it expensive? Yes but you get what you pay for here. Quality over quantity, and the portions are quite adequate. This is without a doubt a must try establishment. It is beautiful inside. Admittedly strange as the strip mall it's in is so so, but once in you are in a completely different environment. Staff and service here are top notch. Honestly, i was dissapointed. Food was not terrible but from the sushi i have consumed it is at the bottom of the list and i didnt have one on the list that i wouldnt recommend. Service was below average too, owners were very nice though, i think i caught them during their break at 3:30pm.. ambiance was fine i guess. I have been wanting to come to Fortune House for a while and I finally got a chance to experience it last week. The place is very quaint and the hosts and chefs are so friendly and funny! My friends and I were seated promptly based on our reservation. I ended up getting the sushi combo that came with a spicy tuna roll (as pictured), along with 10 pieces of sushi (I think this was the deluxe version). Everything was so fresh, and the portions were absolutely generous. I have been looking for a sushi place that isn't super expensive, and was also generous in the size of their rolls and nigiri, and Fortune House has nailed it on the head! I will definitely be coming back. This place is so delightful and I almost did not want to write a review because I wanted to keep the place secret so it wouldn't be too busy for my friends and I!! My daughter liked her Teri chicken bento box and I thought my sukiyaki were good although both usually come with rice but not here. My girlfriend picked this place for a late Saturday lunch. Parking was a little tight due to the Walmart but we got lucky with a spot right in front of the restaurant. We were the only customers eating in at the time but the staff was definitely busy. We heard lots of calls and pick up orders during our time here. Despite that, the staff was super friendly. We ordered edamame, the pork katsu don, and the chicken katsu don. Both our meals came with a side salad and miso soup. Salad was pretty fresh compared to other Japanese places and the miso soup was standard but good. The katsus were both super huge and our server even put extra rice in mine. They weren't crispy but fried in egg which was still good. Of course with all the rice, it really filled us up. This place is definitely a solid option in the Burke area. Not sure why I didn't get sushi but I will definitely be trying it when I come back next. read more

Comes with one soup and salad, so my boyfriend and I just shared. The fish quality was decent, but only couple of pieces that were not the freshest Super Salmon Roll: salmon and avocado on top, salmon and avocado inside. The avocado on the insides and on top were very lacking, but there were decent pieces of salmon. A lot of rice as well. Miso soup: was a little bland, which was surprising Salad: the peanut (or sesame?) dressing was so good! I ordered their signature ramen with pork but I was shocked when I received the dish. It looked like egg noodles wonton soup with bbq pork, they put spinach and an over-cooked egg inside the bowl. The worst part is that it took 45 mins for my Chirasi to come out and then an additional 15 mins for them to ask what the rest of our order was because they forgot to put it in...an hour later!! No apologies from them either. We should have left sooner to be honest, we won't be returning when there are so many other sushi restaurants who don't forget to place your order.
