I recently ordered some sushi from here because they were having BOGO deals and was shocked at how amazing the packaging was and how fresh it came. I also had a few allergies concern and the girl on the phone, Loanny, was great help. Definitely gonna order again. thank you! read more

Kusshi - $33 total- $30 for $14 Groupon used- $10 crunch roll- $20 chicken k plate dinner - Sushi Bars Near Me - Vienna, Virginia

I was looking forward to enjoying an authentic meal with a friend at Kusshi whom I hadn't seen in months. The food was colorful, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. The ambiance was colorful with beautiful murals with a casual feel. Our server was friendly and did a great job when he was present. However, there were several times when we needed basic items and had difficulty locating him, which affected the overall flow of the meal. Unfortunately, the experience was further overshadowed by repeated interactions with Peter, the manager. His abrupt manner made me feel as though I was a nuisance simply for making reasonable requests needed to enjoy our meal. The most concerning moment occurred when a woman at our table appeared to be choking or having difficulty and urgently needed a glass of water. We asked for a glass so she could take a sip, but the response was incredibly slow given the circumstances. Thankfully, there was a neighboring table with empty glasses, which allowed us to get her water ourselves. I understand that restaurants can be busy, but guests should never leave feeling like they were a burden for asking for basic needs to be met. This was a meal I had been looking forward to sharing with a friend I hadn't seen in months, and unfortunately the experience put a damper on what should have been a special evening. While the food was excellent, the service experience left me questioning whether I would return. read more

Oh my goodness, that seared fatty salmon, amazing. I was very pleasantly surprised that the customer service is so ON IT. I believe the avocado being unripe was an isolated event because after everything that happened with my previous order, the manger gave me a gift card to come back and rectify the situation. So my husband and I went back on a random day and we loved it. The ambiance is really cool, very nice vibe on the balcony. You can see the chefs from above & I really liked that. So it went like this: I was upset, rightfully so, then complained, the assistant manager and manger took me seriously and they recognized the issue right away & made it right! I will definitely give this place another try & come back for that fatty salmon. Thank you for taking your customer complaints seriously, it speaks volumes for a business to care. read more

Mika made a nice difference when she was our Server for an abbreviated lunch yesterday. We ordered two Appetizers, Sapporo beer and hot tea. The Spicy Tuna Avocado Balls had a pink (aioli?) sauce that we enjoyed and would have asked for a little bit more, if we had more time. Our other Appetizer was the Spicy Rock Shrimp. We enjoyed both. Mika was caring and very attentive. We have been coming to Kusshi several times over recent years and will be back. Thank you Mika and the amazing sushi chefs. The ambiance was festive and joyful. The restrooms are nice and clean. read more

This is located in a shopping center right off the metro so it's very accessible and there is a big parking lot as well. The service is friendly, patient and happy to help. The space itself has seating that you primarily have to access by stairs from what I saw. The food and drinks were decent! The sushi was okay, the fish didn't taste the most fresh but I did enjoy the other dishes as well. read more

Been to Kusshi a couple of times for their happy hour (worth it!) and now finally tried their food-food. The location is tucker at the corner of a busy plaza so I never noticed it before. It also looks really small from the outside but it's actually got a lot of seating and even had a loft! Their lunch menu seemed good so I got the beef sukiyaki bento box--soo tasty and satisfying! I used to work at a Japanese (corporate) owned restaurant back in college and this was my favorite lunch item. The flavors are similar! Their service is great also. The server remembers me (rare these days!) and they were all very attentive. If you enjoy open kitchens, sitting on the second floor allows you to watch the sushi chefs filet and make rolls. It's quite entertaining! Will be back for more happy hour :) The happy food portions are great (full size) and very tasty. Love the karaage read more

Food was good, but service wasn't the best. Came in on a weeknight, so it wasn't too busy or loud and we were one of the only two tables in our server's section. After dropping off our drinks he left us for so long that my friend got up to go looking for him to let him know we've been ready to order... like ten minutes ago... Same thing when we were done and ready to pay- we had to hunt down our server as we were already tired of waiting for him to come by. Maybe he was new, but as a server myself I'd say maybe a little more training is needed. read more

Ok I have been here before but again forgot to take pictures of my food or drink because I was a fight for my life in there. Now I really do love they have an upstairs sitting area which I have the last time I was here. I wanted to sit there, but there was a swarm of gnats or fruit flies everywhere!! Now I was thinking it was maybe just in the upstairs sitting area...no they were in the entire restaurant! I couldn't even enjoy my miso soup without having to continually swat them to not accidentally have any of them land on my food. When I ordered my sushi I couldn't even eat because I had to immediately put napkins over the sushi so nothing would land on my food! I ended up moving outside which was way better than sitting in the restaurant and this is why I have to give them a 3-star. Because this is very unsanitary as they were EVERYWHERE! Customers shouldn't have to be swatting gnats the entire time we are trying to eat. So I don't have any pictures of my food as I was scared one might land on my sushi. The Tokyo Tea was really good I think I had 3 of them. The wait staff were really nice...but they need to get those gnats under control. I'll be back maybe in another 3-weeks hopefully it will be better! read more

Good local sushi spot. I've been a few times and it's decent. Overall food is a 5 but ambiance and service can be improved.

Delicious and fresh sushi. Ordered the sushi and sashimi plate and it was amazing, the fish tasted perfect and the garnishes paired perfectly. Service was AMAZING, I didn't get our servers name but she was lovely, I believe she had ginger hair. Food arrived quickly and was delicious, my husband ordered udon and my toddler ate an avocado roll, they both really enjoyed. Would highly recommend this place! read more

A bit confused. Ordered online for pickup and once I got back to my hotel, I noticed the toro crispy rice was cooked? Tasted like cooked tuna from a can on crispy rice. The miso soup was extremely salty. The spicy salmon roll was incredibly spicy as well... but only some of them. Others were not even spicy. This one was hard to eat. read more

Kusshi is a wonderful gem somewhat "hidden" in the far left corner of Pike 7 Plaza. I visited on a Wednesday night and was surprised there was a good amount of people having dinner. There is seating downstairs as well as seating upstairs. The store is beautiful and clean with Japanese inspired wall paintings and floral decor. Our server for the night was Kat who did an amazing job. Very attentive, personable, and friendly. For a party of 3 we opted to try one of the sushi boats, specifically the "row boat" with 76pc. Everything is made fresh and tastes fresh. We loved everything from the sushi boat except for one of the rolls which I believe is the firecracker roll only because it was a lot spicier than we expected it to be so we couldn't finish that one. Other than that, for 3 people the row boat is plenty of food. We should've ordered the smaller boat because there was some sushi leftover but the seared salmon belly is a must! read more

Ate here last night. Good was pretty good. I went a little bit after six because I saw a photo on here that happy hour ends at 6:30 but it didn't. It ended at six. Luckily the waitress was really nice and still honored it. Adding the new happy hour menu here. I feel like there were some decent deals there, but then other stuff didn't seem great overall I enjoyed it, but don't feel like I really ordered the right things. I would probably do the Ramen next time the mochi ice cream dessert was really good and the sake for happy hour for five bucks was a good deal. read more

Service: it was a quiet lunch and there was only one waitress on staff. She was great! Very sweet and put my order in promptly. Ambiance: very clean and beautiful. Love the murals - rabbit anime. There's also an upstairs dining area. Food: I ordered the sushi bowl with yellowtail and the Kusshi noodles to go. The sushi was fresh, rice was perfectly cooked, veggies crispy. I'll have to report back on the noodles but it looks great with beef, chicken and shrimp!! Update for the noodles: VERY GOOD. I like the slight spicy flavor. Had it the next morning so it reheated well. Thumb up :) I thought the meal was reasonably priced for Tysons. I received a special for my complex so wanted to give this restaurant a try. So glad I did. Thanks to the manager for extending a special for GOM!!! read more

Solid sushi spot in Vienna. We ordered a bunch of items, starting off with the takoyaki and the gyoza. The takoyaki was really good, and the sauce went with it nicely. The gyoza was good as well but nothing special. We ordered several sushi rolls as well, along with salmon and yellowtail sashimi. I don't eat a ton of sushi/sashimi, but both tasted very fresh and were tasty. I ordered the kakuni donburi for my main, and it was also tasty. The only complaint I have is I wished it had more of the Japanese pickles. Service was solid, no complaints. The restaurant is very cute. At first glance it doesn't look like it has much seating, but there is an upstairs area as well with more seating. I would definitely come again! read more

I've worked at the neighboring Sushi restaurant across from this place. Sometime a month or two ago, I got off of my shift and came inside this establishment. One of the taller workers who's sitting down on the table, scoots out aggressively, walks up to my face with his chest puffed out and stares me down with a "Can I help you sir!?". I didn't take it as a threat, but the ambiance within the room made it feel like I was unwanted in the establishment. I simply smiled, walked passed him and asked if I could look at the menu. I then order 1 Mochi piece. I find it a bit strange that a singular piece is 5 dollars but that's besides the point. The same server opens the refrigerator and pulls out the Mochi with his Bare Hands that I witnessed him use to eat his food and wipe his face before I walked into that door. I actually live in Japan and eat mochi regularly. There was nothing special about that Mochi in taste being 5 dollars. The entire strip where this is located is amazing, every establishment treats neighboring staff kindly, EXCEPT for this place. I've been to other Kusshi's and this is by far my least favorite one. I don't like to give out low reviews as this is my first ever one. But this is just improper etiquette. read more

Sits in the Corner of a mall like plaza. Walked in and asked if they were open and then offered to have seating on the ground floor or upstairs. I chose upstairs. Was seated at a place with a view of the staff building my delicious meal. I ordered a sushi tartare, Obi and rainbow roll. All were tasty. The Obi was the most interesting. I didn't care for it but least I tried it. I added a hot green tea vice an alcoholic drink this go round. Great choice. Dangerous mistake. I called ahead to ask if I was allowed to do a pickup order with a sesame allergy, they said yes of course. I wrote a note for each item on the online ordering system "SESEAME ALLERGY" and it shows printed clearly on the receipt. When I picked up, I made sure one final time to ask the manager to make sure there was no sesame, he promised there wasn't. I drove all the way back home, and whatdoyaknow... sesame seeds everywhere. You'd think they'd want to save money by using less ingredients? What's worse is we had been emailing back and forth and they decided to just stop replying to me. Do you understand I could have died? Do you know how much EpiPens cost? They don't care. read more

3.5 stars: a few great bites, mostly just okay. Would not go out of my way. Came here at an off time on a Sunday and was able to grab a seat upstairs. The decor in there is very cute. Service was a little slow at first, but it could be since we came at an off time, and it was their lunch break. Overall, they were very friendly and attentive. FOOD: ~ Yellowtail Crudo (4/5): Thick cuts of yellowtail topped with some chili oil crunch. Tasty and the chili oil crunch isn't too overpowering ~Dragon roll (3/5): Just okay. The seaweed wrapped on top blocked some of the flavor of the eel ~Uni taco (3/5): Great portion. California uni isn't my favorite (so personal preference), but it was nice and earthy with the brightness of the shisho leaf ~A5 wagyu taco (4.5/5): Wagyu was tender and seasoned well. Great portion. Sauce was good. Just wish there was some other topping to cut the richness ~Scallop taco (3/5): unfortunately the yuzu or maybe there was some kind of herb (mint maybe?) that just overtook the flavor of the taco. ~Bluefin fatty tuna taco (5/5): So good! No notes ~Sashimi sampler - 18 piece (3.8/5): good value. Overall fish quality, freshness, and taste was just okay Not a bad spot to visit if you're in the area, but probably wouldn't drive all the way out here for it. read more

The waitress was super nice and helpful. Don't forget to check in to get a free appetizer. I got the Philly roll, got beef (surf & surf), and nationals roll. I also got the California maki roll with roe, ovi, spicy salmon, and kusshi seared fatty salmon. The rice quality is so fresh and you know it's good when it doesn't fall apart. The seafood tasted fresh. My fan favorite is the kusshi seared fatty salmon. You can taste the smokiness which pairs well with the sauce on top. Also, the right chew texture. I like the seating upstairs. It's decorated with Japanese cherry blossom. I came here using the Groupon just make sure to include taxes in that total. Pretty decent sushi for the price and I do enjoy that their nigiri is assembled with more than fish and rice which gives good flavor to them on their own. Kusshi is a solid option in the Tyson's area for sushi and sashimi (plus other non-fish options if that's what you're in the mood for)! It was also surprisingly family friendly which is always refreshing with little ones. We ordered gyoza (with the option of steamed, pan-fried, OR deep fried!) and adegashi tofu to start, 3 rolls (Cherry Blossom, Volcano, and Chesapeake), as well as the shrimp tempura katsu curry entree. My son absolutely loved the adegashi tofu mixed with rice and my typically picky eater daughter was a big fan of the curry. The fish on the rolls were fresh and the slices were generous. For those who partake, they also had a great selection of Japanese beers (Orion FTW) and sakes as well. The staff is friendly and all of our dishes came out in a timely manner. We ate upstairs on the balcony area and we were still checked on frequently even though the servers had to walk up and down the stairs. We'll definitely come back again! read more

Had high hopes for this place... but... first impression, fruit flies all over our table... had to move... still had fruit flies, though not as many as upstairs. Decided to tough it out as it was getting late. Had the speed boat and chicken curry katau. Chicken curry katsu was bland, chicken was fried well but the curry was disappointing. Sushi was good but then when we got home, we were all parched and thirsty which usually means there was a lot of MSG. The only bad sushi was the octopus which had a strong fishy taste. I hope I'm okay tonight. Interior just didn't hit either, decor was nice but the place was just cluttered and messy. ***Update*** confirmed, I am not feeling well after our dinner... whether it was bugs in the veggies in the rice or curry... or that off tasting octopus sushi... something got me. Should have gotten the clue... that many fruit flies don't spring up just out of the blue... probably other sanitary issues... won't be returning. read more

Brought a friend and hubby here because the food is just that good. If it was based solely on sushi I'd do a 4-5. The sushi is really fresh and flavors go great together. Not to mention the pricing is great! The udon was extremely disappointing. The flavor just isn't there for this dish. When I went to pay he asked if I wanted it boxed and I said no because the meat was terrible. He said yeah was the beef too hard and then eluded to the fact that it was a pretty consistent problem they have. Flys are all over the place as well so it was kind of gross constantly having to swat away the flies constantly. read more
