    Mango and dragon rolls

We ordered Sushi from Sushi Yama on May 16th. On line it showed a picture of Dragon Mango and California's Rolls . We ordered The Dragon Mango only to come home and find plain Dragon Rolls. We called the restaurant back and complained about the wrong order to their receptionist and Mr. Moon maybe he is the manager . We clicked a picture of the online post and sent it they refused to believe that this item was on their menu and we got no response back. That is bad customer service and unprofessional.

We stumbled on this spot after the restaurant we planned to go to turned out to be closed. Sushi Yama turned out to be a great find! The interior is very inviting and service was friendly. The sushi counter is somewhat open so you can see the sushi chefs at work, which I always really like! We started our meal with steamed gyoza which were great, then moved on to 3 different rolls. We tried the popular Yummy Yama and Bubba rolls (both were awesome!) and a classic Spicy Tuna. We really enjoyed all of them and were happy with the price point as well!

We were looking for a new Japanese restaurant near Tysons and found Sushi Yama. It's a small shop with sushi bar seating and tables. The restaurant was clean and the service was great. I started with a warm saki and order the Momo roll (salmon, cucumber, spicy crab, and yummy crunchy batter). The wife ordered the Rainbow Bulgogi Donburi with seven veggies. All in all a great experience.

    Sushi and sashimi for two

We stopped in for dinner tonight and sat at the sushi bar. It's a cozy restaurant, but very busy and the service is great. To start, we ordered the jalapeño Yama bomb. It's their version of jalapeño poppers. There were 3 jalapeños split in half, stuffed with spicy tuna and cream cheese, then fried and topped with spicy mayo and eel sauce. So good! My husband was surprised by the texture of the tuna. It was a lot like sausage the way they prepare it, but a much healthier version. So good! For our main we ordered the sashimi and sushi for two. Wow. The presentation was beautiful, fish was fresh, and it was A LOT of food for two. It also comes with two side salads and miso soup. I highly recommend both. This restaurant is very reasonably priced for what we got, fish is fresh, and the service is great.

Great sushi spot in Vienna! I had a wonderful dining experience here for dinner. I ordered the tuna hand roll and spicy tuna hand roll and both were delicious and generous with fish. Sushi and sashimi platter was very fresh. I wish the cuts were cut bigger though. The yellowtail nigiri was probably my favorite of the meal. Customer service was spectacular. The waitresses were attentive and warm. They constantly checked in on us and refilled and cleared our plates promptly. This sushi spot is worth going to!

Supa fresh, supa good. A smaller restaurant with super sweet waitresses and just a homey vibe. They have normal seating and a sushi bar to watch the masters do their thing. I've been going to this place for a while and it's always great. Their bento box deals for lunch are really great but this time we came for the freshly caught ocean creatures. The maki was great as it never disappoint, I got the akai roll and a california and my friend got the handrolls and a maki (I don't know the actual name of it). Clean cut, nothing out of the ordinary, the fake flowers had the lady next to us a little too excited but I guess that's what nice plate decor does for people.

I love Sushi Yama! I've been coming here for endless amount of years and will continue. They are always so welcoming and friendly to everyone no matter who it is. It's a very small but homey restaurant with authentic food and decorations. It's very clean and the food is top quality!!

This is a Vienna favorite, as evidenced by the constant stream of people seen at lunch and dinner hours - this is definitely a family friendly place. Sushi is always fresh and it's cool to see the chefs in action along the bar. My go-to non-sushi dish is the rainbow bulgogi. A solid 4 stars in my book.

I come to sushi Yama a lot for lunch. The sushi is always spectacular. This time I went it was spectacular. Perfect combination of flavors. You really can't go wrong with any of the options but I really liked the yummy Yama , and kimochee rolls. Service was quick and efficient as always and the restaurant had a peaceful ambiance. If you're looking for one of the best sushi restaurants in Vienna look no further.

Oishi Roll and Smoky Yama Roll

One of my favorite places to visit for lunch in Vienna. I've been here multiple times with great experiences, but this past visit stood out to me. I arrived here with a larger group on coworkers (about 14 people). We typically arrive before noon, but it doesn't ever get too crowded. We were seated at 2 different tables of 7 and were brought waters immediately. Shortly after, our orders were taken and the sushi was brought out in a timely manner. Once we finished eating, our plates were cleared from the table and checks were brought out separate. Service is always great, but given we had two big groups you could tell they did everything they could to prioritize us which I really appreciated. As for the food I tend to mix around a bit but my favorite roll is the smoky yama roll. You can even smell it being finished when they torch the salmon on the top of the roll for a smoky flavor. Prices are within reason as two rolls will fill you up for the day post-lunch. Finally, the restaurant is located in an accessible parking lot making it easy to always get in and out of. Please try this place if you're looking for sushi within the Tyson's/Vienna area!

Teriyaki steak w a smidgen of veggies--half eaten steak. Sauce seemed canned but does the job for those not into sushi.

Normally we go to Sushi Yoshi (not to be confused w Sushi Oishi!!') but they close at 2pm for lunch, so we went to this similar fabulous sushi joint and we were pleasantly pleased w the very fresh and generous Chirashi dish all served w a yummy salad that had a nutty ginger dressing as well as miso soup. They also had steak teriyaki which was ok but won't knock them as they are truly a sushi joint but one person in our group is not a sushi person. One from our party accidentally went to Yama chen right next door which is strange that two sets of Japanese restaurants have a similar name next door. Service was great and definitely will be back.

my son Emerson eats a lot!

Fresh, Fresh and more Fresh! The fish and all presentations have been uplifted under the direction of their owner and chef along with the cuts of fish appear bigger and although food prices have good up for everyone in this business of "perishable" entrée items, to me, the "price points" are more than fair and sometimes very reasonable. Mr. Moon which took over a few months ago, adding additional chefs which are very well experienced and deserving of praise in their "tip" jar. The service has always been good but even faster, knowing what is expected from new ownership and servers and chefs working seamlessly because there is no shortage of staff. Yes, the restaurant needs a "refresh" but small changes are taking place with the more decorative flatware as well as a needed uplift in their music selection, which gives a bit of a NYC "SoHo" vibe. Now, just in terms of "quality" and preparation, I myself (and Emerson too) would rate this place as a "top ten" for my location and not #23 as it is rated here.

    Lunch special
    Olivia C.

My favorite local sushi place. They do it well here. If you can sit at the sushi bar and watch the chefs work their magic rolling those magical maki rolls, cut slivers of sashimi, and neatly press those nigiri. I do also really enjoy their sesame dressing on their salad. They do have a peanut dressing but I find the sesame is just slightly different enough to still be the perfect accompaniment to your incoming sushi fix. Their lunch special is so well priced and perfect for catching up with a girlfriend, business meeting, or even enjoying a nice meal by yourself. Dinner is great too. Make sure you have a reservation as it does tend to get quite busy.

The fried beef bao were highly flavored, included some cellophane noodles in them, and had plenty of delicious liquefied fat inside, kind of like a soup dumpling. We also had the steamed shrimp dumplings, which were the perfect mochi-gummy texture, and actually tasted like shrimp. For dessert we shared the fried sesame balls, which were correctly fried---nice and light and crispy outside. The sesame paste filling had a clear flavor which was separate from the taste of the outside. It's a tiny place, only about 15 or so chairs inside, and 2 outside. No frills. (None needed!) You help yourself to chopsticks, utensils, hot sauce, and paper plates. The plates come out one by one as they're ready.

However, if we could go back in time, I think we would have ordered a Level 1 mildly spicy version of Pad See-Ew instead. I have been in this restaurant 3 times now, but only ate the food twice. This restaurant use to be located two doors down where Viet Corner Restaurant is located now. The seating area is what you will see first when you walk into this restaurant. Decorations of some personal stuff the owner put up and some generic items as well. The smells of the food being prepared might hit your noise before you enter this establishment, or after you enter the restaurant's front door. This is depending on the time of day you arrive here. Yet it might make your mouth water:) Booths with cushions are located near the order counter and inner sanctum of the restaurant. You might be wondering where the inner sanctum is located...I say it's the kitchen where the magic happens...mind out of the gutter. Both days we ate here we sat at the same booths with cushions for our delicate asses. It makes a difference now days. Our server who (who I think of as Mitzi) brought us water and specialty drinks. On the first day we ordered the Peach Sparking Soda with chucks of peaches in the drink. I ordered one more of these drinks after finishing the first one. Now that I am writing this, I want another one. I asked Mitzi not to put the spicy Chili Garlic Glaze on the Crispy String Beans, because I don't like spicy food. My wife ordered The Spicy Yum Yum Soup with a few alterations herself. Mitzi repeated back the order before putting it into the computer. My wife's order came out how she had asked for it. My order had the Spicy Chili Garlic Sauce on it and made Crispy String Beans experience a failing grade. I think the reason I did not get this fixed is because of my wife and the superb appetizer called Nom Nom Pork Strips, which I also ordered. The flavor of each bite is explosive in your mouth. There is a video that continuously played of a news reported reacting to the food he was eating. I was having that same reaction he was. Orginally I thought he was overreacting for the camera. He WASN'T. The bathrooms are located behind the curtain, but the Wizard Of Oz will not be there. The bathrooms are not unisex; however, the men's bathroom was clean and full of signs. YES, "I saw the signs." THE FOOD EXPERIENCE: The very next day we came back to the restaurant and tried more appetizers. My wife ordered her Spicy Yum Yum Soup with more alterations. We also ordered Nom Nom Pork Strips, Grilled Pork Skewers (4), Crispy Veggie Dumpling (8), Golden Tofu Sticks and Crispy Duck Roll (2) and The Curry Puff. We did not order specialty drinks this time around and stuck to water. Since my wife doesn't eat pork, she missed out on the Exquisite Taste of flesh/meat. Nevertheless in no particular order, Nom Nom Pork Strips, Grilled Pork $9.85: Fantastic, but this time around I would have liked to dip the meat into a blue cheese, ranch dress or cheese sauce. Still, the Nom Nom Pork is still outstanding. The Grilled Pork Skewers $10.95: Served on four Skewers, the smell of the pork is overwhelmingly good. It like putting baby in the corner cause nobody warned yah. Okay, bad example. I will certainly be ordering this delicate meat again. Crispy Veggie Dumpling $7.65: You get 8 of the best of dumplings you've ever tasted...Hopefully. From the crispy crunch to a yum, yum yum, you will savor the flavor forevermore. Dip them in sauce or eat them bare, you might order more if you dare. Golden Tofu Sticks $7.65: This was not one of my favorite appetizers. The soy I found to be bland. This is one of these appetizers that must be dipped in a sauce. Sauces at this restaurant are limited, and if the store's options don't satisfy you, you have two options...possibly 3. 1, bring your own sauce. 2. Eat The Golden Tofu Sticks bare. 3. Don't order them and avoid the problem all together. TO BE CONTINUED....
