I've been longing to visit this restaurant and finally had a chance to. My friends and I visited on the weekend and didn't have an issue with walk-in. We were sat and immediately greeted. Our waitress gave us recommendations and all the dishes were awesome! My favorite part....the desserts! They have a variety to choose from. Although, I was upset they didn't have mango sticky rice that day.
Solid 10/10 high-end restaurant! Very fast paced but service is still top-tier. Our server came and checked on us periodically. They also limit your reservation for 2 hours! Part of our family came 30 minutes later; we literally finished just on time. I'd recommend using the 2 hours to eat especially if you have a big group. Food is nothing to complain about. I thought everything was pretty authentic. And, portion sizes are good for the price. Nasi Lamek I got wasn't super oily and fried chicken was very well-seasoned. Appetizer platter is a good option if you don't know what to get. The panda crème brûlée was good, but I barely tasted the pandan. They might not have tables so I'd strongly recommend making a reservation!!
This place is the real deal. You walk by thinking it is going to be just some strip mall overpriced Asian food but the internal ambiance and decor is just so cool! The staff and service were fast and friendly. The food was fantastic (and we are well versed). We enjoyed the nasi goreng, whole grilled squid, roti canai, and tamarind shrimp. But the two STARS OF THE SHOW were Beef Rendang and the Singaporean Chili Crab. Beef was "melt in your mouth" tender and the rendang curry was velvety and luxurious. The chili crab was Dungeness, pre cracked, required bibs and gloves, and has me looking fool trying to suck the claws clean. Cocktails were just iight, but can't all be hits. Well done yall!!

This is one of the best Thai restaurants I have ever dined at! I have been here twice and the food is consistently excellent. The interior is gorgeous and they also have the option for outside seating The employees are very friendly and service is great! You really cannot go wrong with whatever dish you choose. I would suggest making a reservation because the restaurant stays busy. There is a free parking garage behind the building. I will definitely return!
Back again for the third time! The food is absolutely Alicia's and we did family style this time round splitting it amongst 4 of us. We had the best time and were very well taken care of by Tammy (sp?). As a Singaporean this food reminds me a lot of home. One tip would be to opt for outdoor seating during summer months as indoor seating gets very loud and we couldn't hear each other well. Would come back again and again.
Can't go wrong with this restaurant if you like Southeast Asian food. Amazing quality. Love the service. The restaurant is modern and well organized. It is worth every penny I paid for.

We were sat in a small room for our party of 8 and it was nice and private for our birthday event. My favorite dish was the grilled squid and hainanese chicken. Everything was cooked so well and so flavorful. I especially loved the 3 sauces that came with the chicken. Can't eat to come back again!
Food is always amazing here, and the portions continue to be huge overall! Went for lunch on a weekday and the service was fast, and we got a table very quickly. Food is very flavorful and there are plenty of options on the menu. The decor here is also super pretty.
A slightly elevated Southeast Asian restaurant with an elegant dining space, attentive service, and thoughtfully executed dishes. I genuinely enjoyed every dish we ordered, and I was especially glad that the flavors were not compromised by the upscale atmosphere. Each plate was presented nice and came in a satisfying portion size. I also really appreciated the menu design, especially the small flags indicating where each dish originated and sectioned in a way that was easy to read through. I recommend the papaya salad! My only comment is that it was a windy day when we dined and they had a door open. All the wind blew right to us (we were seated near the door) and I got cold during the meal.

While some pieces of the rendang melted in your mouth as expected, others were a bit too tough for my taste. The duck pad kapow was a standout, with incredible crispiness and bold flavors. Service is attentive and the staff gave us great recommendations on how to navigate the menu, especially since it was our first visit. The ambiance is very modern and feels upscale, although the prices are quite reasonable. It's a nice blend of traditional Southeast Asian elements with a modern American style.
I've been here a couple of times now and the food has not disappointed either times! This is one of the best places in NoVa for southeast Asian food, and their desserts are also very impressive! Some highlights were their crispy pork belly, mango sticky rice, and Pandan chiffon cake. The servers were also friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was lively - just wish I lived closer so I can visit more often!
Just found my new favorite restaurant in the DMV! I love Singaporean and Malaysian food so much but there aren't any in the 757 so really lucked out finding Southeast Impression so close to a random hotel we booked. The food came out really fast and our server was very attentive despite being busy. The decor was so spot on for Southeast Asia, I was transported there. There's an open kitchen and bar.They have an all gendered bathroom with a childcare station as well. I think I need to get a spicy serving rack for my house because I need it in my life. All the food we tried was amazing! Some stands outs were the chicken curry puff and duck wraps for appetizers. For mains the rendang and Khao soi. Honestly can't go wrong with anything on their menu. Will definetly be returning when I'm in the area! read more
10/19/2026 Singapore Chili Soft Shell Crab -- JUST OK It comes with fried buns, just like in Singapore, and rice. However, the chili sauce was a little too tangy compared to what I've had in Singapore, where I remember it being more on the sweet side. Overall, the dish was just okay. I wouldn't order it again. Hainanese Chicken Rice -- SKIP IT! What a disappointment! The chicken wasn't white meat as our server had told us. The meat "smells" and was bland. All I could taste was sesame oil, nothing else! I could see traces of fried garlic in the sesame oil sauce poured over the chicken, but couldn't taste any garlic at all. This is definitely NOT how Singapore Hainanese chicken rice should taste! Even the rice was bland. A good Hainanese chicken rice should have rice flavorful enough to be enjoyed on its own. It's such a shame because the texture of the chicken was actually soft and tender. What a failed dish! Crispy Pork Belly with Gai Lan -- ORDER IT! Delicious! The gai lan was perfectly cooked, tender while still maintaining its crispness. The pork belly portion was generous, too! If there's one thing I'd improve, it would be making the pork belly crispier. The dish is pretty wet, so the pork belly quickly becomes soggy once it's mixed with the vegetables. A crispier pork belly would help it maintain that crunch. Otherwise, delicious! Char Kway Teow -- PRETTY GOOD! Authentic Malaysian Char Kway Teow is usually spicy, but this one wasn't. It came with huge, tasty prawns, which I really appreciated! The dish also came with sambal on the side, fragrant with lime leaves. Once I added the sambal, it completely transformed the dish for the better! Definitely don't skip the sambal. Crispy Pork Belly & Char Siu Pork -- DEFINITELY ORDER IT! Delicious! The pork was incredibly tender and flavorful. The char siu is Malaysian-style rather than Cantonese-style, sweet, tender, and absolutely yummy! Eat it with the tangy garlicky chili sauce and OMG, heaven is dancing in your mouth! The crispy pork belly was equally flavorful. Try it with both the chili sauce and the sweet brown sauce. So, so good! Roti Canai -- ORDER IT! It comes with two dipping sauce options: chicken curry and a vegetarian option (can't remember what it was!). We chose the chicken curry, and it was really good! Definitely worth ordering. I would come back to try other dishes. read more

I've been to south east impression multiple times but every time the food is so good ! The server was very kind and attentive. We got the tamarind shrimp, Haines chicken, pineapple fried rice, and the roti appetizer. It is a little pricey but it's a nice restaurant with beautiful interior ! read more
I have been to Southeast Impression a handful of times and have loved every single experience. Most recently I went for a friend's bridal party get together; we were able to make a reservation via phone a few days prior for our table of 10 so that was nice! Food: (5 of 5) -Appetizer Platter: great to share with friends and great for you have a small taste of everything -Papaya Salad: was refreshing but could definitely use more heat/spice -Pad Thai: cant go wrong with a classic -Nasi Goreng: topped with a delicious fried egg -Pineapple Fried Rice: presentation was everything!! -Roasted Duck Curry: sweet, great with rice -Pandan Creme Brulee: best dessert on the menu -Mango Sticky Rice: refreshing mango, would order again -My cup of Kopi: their take on an espresso martini, it was amazing, i ended up having 2 that brunch. The service was fantastic, our server was nice and attentive and kept our water glasses filled, and kept asking if we wanted additional drink refills. The ambiance is nice, it has a cozy vibe to it; with some booths and mostly table/chairs. Theirs a full bar so you can order what you like. I would highly recommend for a date night or brunch with friends. read more
Southeast Impression is a really great concept, where you can get traditional dishes from multiple SE asian countries all in one spot! They have a diverse menu of different noodle dishes, curries, soups, rice, and so so many appetizers. Service here was amazing and food came out pretty quickly. For appetizers, we ordered their fried wontons, fried calamari, salmon ceviche, and roti canai. All of them were delicious, but I highly recommend the roti canai because of how buttery the roti was and the curry was absolutely delicious! For mains, we got their pad thai, their panang curry, crab fried rice, pad see eiw, and hokkien mee. Favorites of the night here were definitely their panang curry and crab fried rice! Wish we had room more dessert but everything was so good, I was stuffed by the end. read more

I can't wait to come back and try something else off this massive menu. Food was tasty (small negative, the fish was a tad overcooked). Good level of spicy on the duck. Everyone enjoyed their food. The pandan cake was excellent. Service was good. Ambiance was good. Cleanliness was good. read more
This is one of the places that I've been dying to visit for a while and got lucky that I was able to walk-in without a reservation on a Friday night during prime dinner hours. It was meant to be! Interior is fun, modern & trendy with lively atmosphere. Great for any occasion -- from a birthday celebration to dining solo and sitting at the bar (with a window view)! The parking situation is limited so have patience. Kudos to the bar staff who guided me where to park (Scout on the Circle Apartments or Giant). I originally parked my car at Dunkin Donuts and they warned me that I may want to relocate my vehicle so I don't risk getting towed. As for food, Southeast Impression has a lot of options on the menu and was feeling indecisive. The staff recommended I might try the soft shell crab as this is not a typical dish that you might find elsewhere. Great choice -- the perfect amount of food for someone with a big appetite and bursting with flavor. Below are the ingredients. +Signature Singapore stir-fry chili crab served with tomato, onion, ginger, shallot, garlic, egg -- comes with a side of fried buns and white rice The dish came with four soft shell crabs and although the menu suggests that this item is already spicy as noted by the green chili symbol, the bar staff asked if I liked spicy and brought out a spice rack with four compartments. I customized it by making it spicier by adding the Thai fish sauce with red chilis. There is also a Dungeness crab version though is meant to be shared between two people. I am looking forward to trying one of the cocktails, My Cup of Kopi, and the desserts for my next visit! read more

It was amazing!!!! Our server Tammy was amazing too :) we both got drinks- the espresso martini was DELICIOUS. I usually only take a sip of it but I took a lot of sips!!! I got myself a cosmopolitan and it was classic. For appetizer get the papaya salad, a wonderful dish to get your stomach ready for the entrees! I honestly believe their Panang curry is the best this area has to offer. No dessert tonite but maybe next time :) read more

Started with the Roti Canai with the chicken curry dip. Significantly more chicken than i was expecting with an app, which is a great surprise. The Crispy Pork was slightly sweet with the peppers adding a nice level of spicy. The Nasi Goreng was a very earthy fried rice dish. The problem here is that there are too many good dishes to choose from. Love this place. read more

Yeah this place is gooooood! If you're feeling adventurous and want to try something new, this is the spot. The massaman curry was pretty good and was my overall favorite during this visit. The hokkien mien was okay in my opinion, I was not a fan of the shrimp paste sauce with it. The appetizer platter was great to try once and amongst the options, I enjoyed the chicken satay the most especially because of that rich peanut sauce! Service was great and had no complaints! I did try one of their drinks during the night and it was the Rose (something) Milk Tea Cocktail? and it tasted like a rosé + lychee + milk tea. It was good and the foam made it creamy! Ambiance busy busy! So I would recommend securing a reservation ahead of time. read more

I will never stop going here - I've eaten here more than 5 times and it's consistently delicious so I decided to come here for my birthday dinner this year and the servers were so sweet! Their Christmas decorations also added to the charm. I've never had a bad dish here so you can't go wrong, but I do love their appetizer platter and will quite literally order every single dessert on the menu. Enjoy! read more
Stopped by for dinner last night and Southeast Impression hit the spot The whole menu has so many dishes I want to try, it was difficult to make a decision! Will need to come back to try many of the other dishes ---roti canai: not an easy to find dish and they do it well! Flaky, fresh, and comes with your choice of curry chicken or Dahl dipping sauce! ---char kway teow: good wok hei flavor, perfectly chewy noodles, shrimp were cooked perfectly! Consistent service and atmosphere every time. I've learned that asking about portion size helps since there's not enough crab rangoons but the calamari had just the right amount of quality and quantity. The entrees have an abundance of food and our group loves the curries so much. I asked for a hot drink and the Malaysian tea was like a warm hug (that tasted very similar to a fruit tea paired with a hot cocoa in my opinion). I can't say enough good things about Southeast Impression! We ordered the roti canai, beef rendang, nasi lemak, and chicken satay, and everything was absolutely delicious. The roti canai stole my heart, perfectly flaky on the outside and soft inside, just like the ones I've had in Malaysia. The nasi lemak was another standout, rich, fragrant, and authentic, with all the right touches that instantly brought me back to Southeast Asia. The beef rendang was tender and flavorful, and the chicken satay came with that amazing peanut sauce that tied everything together. On top of the great food, the vibe is relaxed and welcoming, and the staff are super friendly and attentive. You can really tell they care about sharing the flavors of Malaysia and making everyone feel at home. If you're craving authentic Malaysian food or just want something truly special, Southeast Impression is the place to go. I'm already planning my next visit. Great restaurant with amazing food! I hadn't had much Malaysian or Singaporean food before, so I was interested in trying this place out. It did not disappoint! The inside is really cute and aesthetic and the menu has a wide variety of Malaysian, Singaporean, and Thai dishes. I got the curry laksa which was delicious. The portions were very generous too! My fiancé got Nasi Lemak with fried chicken and his sister got the salmon. All were delicious and came out decently quickly. The rice on the Nasi Lemak had a nice coconut flavor. I'd definitely come here again-there were so many dishes on the menu that I want to try next. read more
No reservation required to sit at the bar. The food was sooooo amazing! Papaya salad was so fresh and tasty. Fried okra were done to perfection. Love the pandan rice. Must try all of the desserts. Fast service and friendly staff. Beautifully decorated inside. LOVE this restaurant and can't wait to come back. read more

When we were seated, we were told that we had 90 min to complete our meal since it was Friday and they are busy. The food comes out really fast so at least that doesn't impact your total eating time. Staff was friendly and quick to help. We ordered and shared a bunch of food: Sweet potato curry puffs Roti canai Tom yum soup Duck larb KL Hokkien mee Mutton curry Nasi noreng Pad kapow crispy duck Mango sticky rice Pandan creme brulee All the food were super flavorful. Really enjoyed this place! The inside is very pretty and thoughtfully designed, with a warm vibe that makes you want to linger. Service was attentive and friendly, and I have to say I loved their dinnerware -- super stylish, I honestly wanted to buy it for my own kitchen. We tried the appetizer platter, which was a great way to start and had a nice variety. The Hainanese chicken was good, though the sauce could've used a bit more punch. The pad kapow crispy duck was fantastic -- perfectly crisp with great flavor -- and the tamarind shrimp was a standout, tangy and savory in the best way. The textures on everything were amazing, and even though we ate slowly, the food stayed flavorful and satisfying until the very last bite. Definitely ask for the spice tray if you can handle heat, it makes a big difference and adds so much depth. All of the dishes came out quickly and overall, everything tasted fantastic. read more

Yes, you can! They have online ordering options for pick up and delivery. While the ambiance is fairly noisy it may not be for everyone, people do enjoy the atmosphere. I normally don't like loud restaurants but enjoyed the liveliness of the place.…
