We were a party of 8 visiting on Saturday night. Showed up without reservation so obviously had to wait for 30mins but the food was well worth it! The last time I came was right after they opened, and I was really impressed by the massaman curry. This time, I ordered the same dish, hoping it would live up to my memory -- and it absolutely did. Not bad! We stopped by since we were in the area to charge the car. We had pad see ew and the crying tiger steak along with some curry puffs as the appetizer. Stopped by here for dinner with some friends of mine. We wanted to try out a new Thai spot, so why not give this one a try. The Food: I went with the "Tom yum Chicken Soup" as my starter and the "Chicken and Shrimp Pad Thai". The soup was good. That tom yum flavor hit the spot and I had no complaints. The Pad Thai however, was incredibly sweet and for some odd reason, wet. Noodles and proteins were cooked well, but the flavor profile was just way too sweet and tasted nothing like a Pad Thai dish I've had many times before. Was quite disappointed in this. My family and I stopped in for lunch! The sauces that came with the chicken had a good kick to them. The moo ping was much better. 4 pork skewers that were grilled and glazed with sweet and savory sauce. It also came with a small thing of sticky rice. Overall my rating would be 3.5 stars. Not the best but decent! The portions are very small for the price you pay (especially the chicken rice). We tried this place for lunch - service was really friendly and attentive from all wait staff. The one man who sat at the counter, the entire time (looked like an owner) never smiled. The boat noodle soup is one of the better ones in the area. Crying tiger steak sauce was good but the steak quality was abysmal - very tough and hard to chew. I also asked if the Thai iced tea was sweet, and was told it was average. Ordered one to go and couldn't drink more than a couple sips because it was literally sugar and milk. When I opened the bag, I was very surprised by what I saw - the food quality and taste were excellent. Importantly, the restaurant provided the chili paste and fish sauce, all neatly packaged. This has become my new favorite Thai restaurant. I order Panama curry with extra sauce and soft tofu, and pad fee ew with tofu. The ordering menu callers substitutions, requests and add on. They always make the order perfectly. I am so addicted to their curry I order about once a week. I've tried a few of their appetizers, they're OK. We ordered take out from here. I've been looking for my new favorite Thai place closer to home, since my current has been Chao phra Ya in Herndon over the years. We ordered the pad thai to keep things simple to see how it is before ordering a bunch of other items we love like curries and duck since they're on the pricier side. We ordered it as a medium spice in case it was too much, but it couldn't have been more mild. I don't think any spice was added at all. But, I'm Asian so my taste buds could be a little skewed with tolerance, just overall it was missing a ton of flavor as it is (spice or not). The side of rice is also the same price for about 1/2 of what you get at other Thai places. Unfortunately, I'll stick with my usual spot and keep my search going. read more
